I like this location, and Planet Fitness, but today I experienced such kindness and generosity as I have rarely seen before. I began my workout after leaving my things in a locker, applying my lock and secured my keys as I always have, never before losing them. Today, as I headed back to the locker to get my things and leave, I found the keys not on me, somehow slipping from a zippered pocket. I was perplexed, as quiet as the facilities were today, and walking about to each of the four machines I had used, nothing. Not on the floor nearby, nor under any braces. I looked several times and didn't see them. The manager, Michael, took the time to thoroughly scan every isle, and each piece of equipment until he found the keys. Somehow he spotted them on a piece of equipment where I had missed them in my search. Such dedication to his job, and courtesy to cheerfully take time from his day and duties, handing them to me with a sincere smile. I feel encouraged and and lucky knowing someone of such integrity is in charge of the gym. All of the employees have been wonderful, and easy to see why since they are working with such a person in charge. The world could be happier with more people like Michael.

Also as expected it is packed after work time 5-7pm, so expect almost all the treadmills to be taken but there are still plenty of equipment to go around. Started a membership recently with the best deal on the black card membership, and I'm glad I did! I have been coming to the gym for a few months now, and while everyone knows the countless benefits of exercise, I want to highlight what truly keeps me coming back. However, today, I want to share another reason that has made my gym visits even more rewarding, something that has become my personal secret weapon for recovery and relaxation: the HydroMassage Bed.

My feedback is for the Clifton Park location. The requests I have are for dumbbells that are heavier than 75 lbs. and more cable machine accessories. The Clifton Park location only has one easy curl bar and one straight curl bar that is available for cable machine use. Clifton Park does not have Bosus while the Latham location does.

Gym has a staff member named Julie Alexander she is unprofessional snarky glares at people and gives you attitude just for asking to use the hydrobed. Her entitlement is astounding.
I walked up to the desk patiently waited my turn while I was waiting to talk to her or the male trainer with the curly hair and glasses who was also at the desk this all happened around 1:00 pm on December 23rd 2024 she glared at me like three times I train here almost daily and anytime she’s working and I’m there she glares at me but todays really did it for me with her coming at me verbally completely sideways and frankly I’m not putting up with it we’re not in highschool she proceeded to say “are you gonna buy something” In a very snarky condescending tone. then I said “can I use the hydrobed thanks.” She then said “ is it under Granados.” Even tho she very well knows me we use to be friends smirked at me laughed to her self thinking she was funny and raised one brow at me coming at me in a completely unprovoked manner I’ve worked out at this gym for four years and never had anyone treat me this way specially someone whose staff my personal history with this person shouldn’t matter they have a standard to uphold specially being at her literal job and should be able to leave personal feelings at the door like I do when I go there and see her I try not to interact with her unless I HAVE too.

Had the worst experience. Came in to get a tour. 2 young men at the desk looked up and down at me and in a not friendly way I said I wanted a tour. They were giggling telling each other you do it no you do it not making me feel not welcome or wanted. Then one said he will do it. Already feeling a little upset that the front desk staff was fighting to not accommodate me, we started walking and he asked me what kind of membership I wanted. No what’s your name, your fitness goals or anything about how I might want to use the facility, I said I don’t know what the options are. Then man walked in (maybe a regular) and he immediately started taking to him as if I wasn’t there. That made me feel so awful I left.

For a place whose ethos is no judgement, I felt judged, ignored, unwelcome and extremely disappointed as this location especially since it seems to have the best reviews in the area. For some getting to a gym and working out is its own challenge to be treated like this makes it so much worse.

I have probably been to close to two dozen Planet fitness locations all over the country. This is my favorite. I think it is clearly the best PF in the capital District. It is clean, large, well lit, has great parking, is very conveniently located, and everything is well maintained. Even the audio feeds from the TV's to the many aerobic machines work flawlessly-often a weak spot in other locations. Plus the staff are unusually friendly and helpful-this is too is often a weak spot at other locations. It is a fairly new gym and very well managed. If I were to nit-pic, I wish it was open later on Saturdays and Sundays, as some PF locations are in Florida.

IMMACULATE! Cleanest PF I have been to yet from front desk to equipment to locker rooms. I love the wide open space of this location too. Communicated multiple times with the gym to cancel my membership. This included managerial staff. They initially said that I had to wait until after Christmas to cancel and then on the second and third visit they assured they could move my home gym to this location and then cancel the membership. Come to find out four months later that they had continued to charge my account and not canceled my membership. When speaking on the phone with another manager to find a solution she said they were not responsible and that I would have to foot the bill. The physical location itself is fine, but I’d advise to make sure that they can accomplish what they promise to do in terms of cancelation, new membership, classes. Very slimey method of business.

The location is great, and it's the biggest Planet Fitness I've used so far. However, the machines are uncomfortable. They're a little outdated compared to the machines I've tried in other PF locations.

You can't adjust the backs of most machines, which makes it very difficult to get proper form. I'm short (5'1) and it's discouraging my workout honestly. I can't do proper form, so it makes it uncomfortable to do the workout. Plus, it's hard to obtain full range of motion. (Some machines I notice this on especially are the leg machines: leg press, abducter and adducter, seated leg extensions).

Another thing I've noticed is that the weight distribution on the machines are off by a lot. Before I transferred to this gym, I could do 125lbs on the abductor machine. I went to this PF location after a week off from workouts, and all of a sudden, I could hit 165lbs??? I wish, but there's no way. The smoothness of performing the workout is also hard because the machines are old.

The machines also don't have a rep counter and time duration. I know other locations have it and it was nice to have because it kept me on track. Not a deal breaker, but it's just something to add to the list of why these machines are just so underwhelming and discouraging.

If you don't really use the machines, I think you'll be fine. They have a ton of space to do dumbell workouts, floor workouts, and they have a lot of benches and smith machines.

Generally, I like this gym very much, but several times this summer it was not open as scheduled in the early morning hours. Is there no backup plan for when staff call in or no-show? Members are left sitting in the parking lot wondering what's going on. No signage on the door this most recent time indicating anything. I don't appreciate wasting my time and gas.
