❤️ this is my favorite location, friendly staff, hot water, real soap, etc, clean place. Today, @6:15 came, and a brunette lady came out of her Mercedes, informed me that they start @7. I waited. Today was the first time the water temperature was perfect. I told her when I left, and received the kindest, warmest smile. She thank me for using PF, but I'm the most grateful they exist, and for exceptional employees, like this lady Today. 11/16/25. 😊

I am not a member of this club, but three of my family members are. I stopped at the Mahopac gym to use their rest room. I am a 76 yr old and needed a clean bathroom. I stopped at the gym, and was turned away b/c I’m not a member. Well for being so inconsiderate and thoughtless and not letting a 76 year-old use your bathroom is an embarrassment to you and your establishment. My family members will be canceling their membership and we will tell anybody else who wants a membership that you are not considerate so this is not a good review and all it needed was for you to be considerate and let a 76 year-old use your bathroom Shame on you!!!’

Very very busy in the mornings, The trainer put me on a workout routine and 90% of the time I can’t even get a machine to work out which wastes most of my morning and then I have to leave to go to work. I really wish my original location which is Brewster had a trainer because I was totally go back.

The Planet Fitness at Peekskill is temporarily closed and as everyone I've seen online said that local planet fitnesses will accept me while my main one is closed and was originally told I would be allowed to go the the one in Mahopac temporarily. However that changed and there is only one other planet fitness that I can go to that is almost an hour away where as the one in Mahopac is 15 minutes away from me. I simply cannot recommend planet fitness to anyone simply because of the management of memberships and how stupid the system is. I also just feel disrespected by the management at this specific location simply because they are not willing to accept someone with an active membership at a closed location that's nearby.

Great new equipment. Staff keeps the place clean even though the gym is always busy. Only major problem is they have the temperature like you are working out in a terrarium. When it is 80 degrees outside, having the thermostat at 72 degrees does nothing. A gym needs to be cool, especially in the summer.

On March 31st at approximately 12:40 I contacted Planet Fitness in Mahopac regarding cancelling my membership. Earlier that day my husband dropped off a letter requesting a cancellation of my membership. The gentleman (Kevin) that was working the counter stated that this may not be acceptable but he will give it to his manager. My husband told me this and I contacted the location because on the website it states that a letter needs to be mailed to the location or you may come in person. I had no time to go in person so my husband brought the letter in. When I contacted PF lovely Kevin answered the phone. I explained my concern with being charged the annual fee because I was cancelling my membership. He kept trying to speak over me and preceded to say, “M’aam are you speaking over me?” I was so incredibly taken back by his approach that I asked him kindly, “Kevin are you speaking to me like that?” He responded, “Yes I am” and decided to hang up on me. I was in total shock. I called the location two more times and there was no answer because I am sure they saw my number on the caller ID. I then had to call from my home phone when I arrived back home for them to answer. A woman claiming to be assistant manager, Emily answered I explained the interaction with Kevin, which she did not seem affected by what so ever. Completely dismissive of the situation. My husband went back into PF to see how this situation with Kevin was being addressed. When he approached Kevin in a very calm manner Kevin again came back at him very aggressively, yelling and being dismissive. My husband asked to speak with a manager and he preceded to tell him, “If you want a manager you can go get her yourself” my husband was taken back by this whole encounter. He went over to the manager who was Emily, explained the situation again. Her response, “what do you want me to do about it?” My husband was so shocked and aggravated about this whole interaction he cancelled his membership too. This was taken to the absolute extreme with Kevin and the assistant manager Emily over something so tiny. I have never encountered such rude, dismissive people. You need to improve your customer service. I reported both individuals to corporate. Absolutely embarrassing to your franchise. I guess that’s what you get for paying $10 a month at a gym. Incompetent employees .

I had a membership to Planet fitness however, due to medical reasons, I stopped using the gym. Three years ago I went into the store twice to cancel my membership. Never got cancelled. Two years ago, I called to cancel my membership. They said no problem. Kept on receiving charges. They told me you can't go in the store to cancel the membership and you can't do it over the phone. I was finally able to get an email for someone to help me cancel my membership. Now, This is two weeks after I received a thirty nine dollar charge and a twenty dollar charge. They finally cancelled my membership. The owners go to a place to eat that my friend owns and I had to sit there Listen to them laughing on how they are taking people for their money. It's going to cost me more to fight them for the charges And in my opinion that's what they Count on so they continue to do it. I will never ever join a planet fitness again nor will I ever recommend it. It took my husband two years to cancel his membership.

The atmosphere was not intimidating at all very clean and people were very friendly and i loved the hydromassage machine .it helped alot bc of some injuries gotten in past thanks planet fitness mahopac.today I was there and Sundays lil busy the time off bc they were closing however a really dedicated friendly staff person at front desk helped me and referred me to Emily for Tuesday I can only say this front desk person who wore baseball cap 515 pm.march 2 ,2025 you're the best! It's nice to feel welcomed anywhere in life but of mahopac so nice! I go to planet fitnesses all over the country. This one is top tier. Great staff, great equipment. Even the showers have nice water pressure and hot temperature. Was able to take a relaxing hot shower after a couple hours of working out. Love this gym easily one of my new favorites.

Update: omg they ruined this gym. What a shame. “New equipment” came at a cost of cutting the amount of equipment in half. Cardio equipment is almost at capacity at the time of this post at 9:45am. One of the quietest parts of the day. They quadrupled the stairmasters, which was the least used cardio equipment. There’s equipment sitting almost on top of garbages so people are throwing their towels away right next to your head while working out. But they got a bunch of new plate machines. So this is a prime meathead gym now. If you like Golds or gyms like that. This is your place.

I cancelled my black card membership in March of 2024, and they continued to charge me for three more months. I have been calling and calling, but the manager will never come to the phone, but the desk person keeps telling me they spoke with the manager and I will be refunded and to wait 30 days. It's 9 months later and there is no refund. I reached out to them on X, but keep getting told that I need to speak with the manager of this particular club...the same manager that will never come to the phone when I call. I also tried to reach out to Customer Service on their website, but the link has been broken all year. Next up, I'm going to file a complaint with their HQ and the Better Business Bureau. Yes, the monthly dues are nominal, but this is just a terrible way for a company to conduct business.

I would never recommend this gym to anyone, it is run by very poor management who don’t know how to train their employees. I went to cancel my membership in June and was told it will cancel on its own at the end of the month because they couldn’t figure out how to cancel it. Come to find out in August I have $100 in fees and they won’t refund it. It is very sad that a company that big needs $100 that bad and not to mention the managers are very disrespectful and unprofessional.

The general availability of exercise equipment when I have gone to the club. The staff is pleasant, greeting me as I entered and wished me a good day when I left. There are plenty of stations with cleaning and disinfecting products to clean exercise stations when done using. My only complaint were the number of treadmills that were either completely out of service or had broken monitors.

The gym is very clean and there is an awesome variety of equipment. I think there need to be more cleaning stations, especially another one in the 30-min room. Some signage about wiping down equipment should be added too. Very clean facility. An extensive variety of equipment. 25+ treadmills so I never have a problem getting onto one. Love the 30 minute workout room. 4 issues that I would like to see addressed;
1. Test the TV's on the treadmills every morning. I found 3 TVs didn't work properly when I was starting my workout on Sunday. 1 wouldn't power on and two had very bad static.
2. Add more cleaning stations (including in the 30 min workout room) and post signs for customers to wipe down equipment after use as a common gym courtesy.
3. Provide info to customers and staff about how to use the PF app to track workouts and progress. It looks like the treadmills can track workouts, but the staff don't know how to do that.
4. Schedule tours of the gym to show newbies like me how to use the equipment. I don't stray from the 6-8 machines that I know how to use. I avoid the free weight area, but I'm curious. Does the lunkhead alarm ever go off?

Just rejoined after a couple of years, and several machines were broken (one bike that wasn't even marked as out of service was missing a pedal). I also noticed that the cupholder was missing a bottom piece on one bike, just as it was two years ago. Also, the water from the fountains tastes terrible (doesn't smell, but it's just unpleasant to drink). I understand that they have no incentive to provide drinkable water for free since they sell bottled water, but they really should fix this (this was also a problem when I was a member a couple of years ago as well).

I got an email asking for my feedback, which turned into “please post a review,” so here it is…
The Mahopac location was very clean and had my preferred equipment. (Life Fitness with a torso rotation, not the dangerous “rotary torso” by Matrix. “Torso rotation” holds your shoulders and back in place and is far, far safer than “rotary torso.” Every location, whether or not they otherwise prefer Matrix equipment, should have a “torso rotation.” This machine has a devoted following, especially amongst “women of a certain age.”)
Everything I saw was maintained very well.
The only criticisms I have for this location are 1. There is some sort of issue with the water. Although I was told the water was off for an hour every Tuesday night, the water pressure was questionable to non-existent every time I visited. Discovering nothing coming from a water fountain (during the day) and being advised that “we have water for sale” mid work out is NOT the Planet Fitness way. 2. The floorplan of a women’s locker room should always include more than one dressing room that is in the same section as the showers. Forcing people to travel across rooms in a towel (not to even start on using lotion) in front whoever is there discourages showering. Also not the Planet Fitness way. ESPECIALLY as Planet Fitness is so inclusive and anti-shaming. 3. The machine to guest ratio was great, but the guest to spray bottle and machine to spray bottle ratio felt like scarcity. That said, the gym did seem to have a culture of wiping machines. The guests and staff were all super friendly. If you aren’t counting on a shower and bring your own water, this is a great location!

The staff here at the Mahopac location are top tier. From Cassie to Lexi to Louis to Tim, they’re extremely professional. The trainer Mike is very knowledgeable. Gym is very clean and staff are constantly cleaning this location. Bridgette, Alex and even the new guy Kaleb I think his name is always welcome you in and when you exit. I come to workout 6-7 days a week and I’ve never had a bad experience. Thanks for all that you all do and keep up the amazing job!!

It's a new year. I was paying nearly $50 a month at a rival gym to have access to regional clubs, free classes, and the pool. With covid, no classes and you need to reserve the pool days in advance. What if I reserve it for Sunday 9am and wake up and think nah I don't wana go now...I wanted to 3 days ago? More than half the price with black card membership, access all over the world, nice perks like massage chairs and aqua beds. I'm happy I returned to Planet Fitness. I'm moved in New York state in July from Naples FL, from two months I'm trying to cancel my membership, but the people at the desk said that this is impossible, because I got to go at the front desk in Naples FL! I'm go again, two weeks later, one lady at the desk helped me to send email two times, she calling two times at the manager gym in Golden gate Naples FL, but never they responded ! This is incredible situation, the planet fitness company steal my money, and I can't do nothing! Today I'm going one more time at the planet fitness near my, and the same lady try to help me one more time, she makes a call again at the gym in Golden gates in Florida, for explaining my situation at the manager, but the person never is in the gym ! I what that planet fitness cancel my membership and refund my money, or I'm call the lawyer, and never, never more in my life I will go in this gym again!

I live in Yonkers, NY and go to the planet fitness there. Honestly not the biggest fan of the gym but it's inexpensive and do my thing and DIP! if your looking for something more in depth and experienced ehhh I would recommend somewhere else! Again not my best selection but gets the job done! 🏋🏻‍♀️
