This specific gym is a front for scams. I moved out of ny and tried cancelling my membership multiple times and they didn’t let me. My credit has now been impacted because they refused to cancel it, one of their employees even signed into my account without my authorization when i wasn’t even in the same state at the time. now they’re telling me it’s out of their hands. I called this gym so many times to cancel my membership and they didn’t let me. there has to be something illegal about that.

Locker broken into and cash taken, not first time lockers have been broken into here in the past year. Insult to injury they then transferred my home club out of state the same day without my authorization and blamed it on a WiFi issue.

They really need to update the equipment at this facility, as well half of the treadmills are broken and outdated. Also, the water fountain has been broken for a while now that definitely needs to be fixed. The locker room is clean which is good at least.

Conveniently located across from costco. This is a large warehouse style building with a ton of equipment. Large clean bathrooms. Plenty of onsite parking. Staff was very friendly upon entry and exit.

I see another reviewer said other locations such as Plainview are better. Well I have gone to both Plainview and Melville many times in the last year and prefer Melville. Plainview has sections too hot both in summer and winter, and lots of broken equipment only a few months after opening. I worked out at Melville and was pleasantly surprised that despite being much older than Plainview, the equipment was in decent condition, and there was certainly no heat problem like Plainview. Sometimes older models are better than the newer ones. The hydrobed room in Plainview often has 2 or 3 of 4 hydro massage beds broken and room is 80 degrees in winter. Plainview had 2 of 3 leg curl machines broken on a rotating basis for last 2-3 months. Never had these issues in Melville. I would go to Melville more but the new Plainview location is closer to me, damn.

I recently joined PF. Still getting use to the different pieces of equipment, of which there are a lot. The staff has been welcoming and helpful. They will help you chose the equipment to achieve your goals and show you how to use it. Most popular pieces of equipment are the cardio ones, so there is rarely a wait for free weights or machines.
One PFs colors is purple and there is a lot of it. Could be a little cheerier in that regard.

Let's break some things down:

1. Crowds: When I go, it's a hit or miss on the crowd.

2. Equipment: Treadmills are always broken, every time I've been here, a treadmill is broken. The one time I went a few day's ago, I thought I got lucky, nope! the Treadmill wouldn't slow down or stop..... The employee just unplugged it and let it sit, no sign or anything; you can also tell there were a few missing.

The equipment is also old and dated compared to the 3 other Planet Fitness locations I've been to (Plainview, Hauppauge and Shirley). The selection isn't as great as the others as well. Hauppauge seems to have a good selection and Plainview comes in second on their setup (even though it looks and feels smaller).

3. Locker Rooms: Its a locker room, I like the layout though, shower's are in the back away from people that take photos (yes, I've caught people taking selfies in the mirror - which is located between showers and the locker's..)
3a - Toilets - Aren't that clean.
3b - Showers - I shower at the gym since I live 45+ minutes away and hate smelling, the showers here are nicely located in the back so I don't feel like people are staring at me from the lockers or while going to pee, however; there's no place to change near the shower.. this is honestly okay, if the water didn't just go everywhere. If they would just put a bench or something for my clothes/gym bag It'd be perfectly okay..

4 - parking: parking is alright and easy, enough spaces.

5. Staff: extremely friendly and pleasant to talk to.

Overall, im giving it a rough 1 star since the main purpose of a gym is to work out and this place not only has dated equipment, I don't trust it to work properly, so I have to travel the opposite way to Plainview which is over crowded.....

Worst Planet fitness on the island. People don't mind their own business, and gym facilities are a hazard, I had a slip and fall in the shower room and the staff put soap on the floor while I was taking a shower multiple times, since then. I complained to the corporate headquarters so they can solve the problem.

As an ex personal trainer, I've had my share of gym tryouts. What I love about Planet Fitness is the low cost and the fact that they have everything an upscale gym has, except maybe the pool and the jacuzzi. Fitnesswise, they're equal. What other gyms don't have but Planwt Fitness has is their accessibility to the average person, not only financially, but also atmosphere-wise. This gym is a no pressure gym where you don't find certain annoying individuals. I've tried different things, but I always go back to Planet Fitness. It's like the ex from the past. Oh, it's also very clean and well-ventilated. Open 24/7 for those of us...

I have been a Planet Fitness member in Melville for many years and am very disappointed to have to leave this review. The cleanliness at this facility is horrendous lately. The outside is full of trash but that is not my primary concern. Was on treadmill this weekend and a roach walked across my machine. Locker room is filthy. Floors are filthy. Lockers need to be cleaned inside and out. Benches need to be cleaned, crumbs trapped in the grates. Garbage can, overflowing with trash. Counters sticky. I can only imagine how bad the machines are. BE SURE TO WIPE DOWN BEFORE USE! This is not sanitary. I emailed management as per “contact us” - no response. This needs to be fixed. Unacceptable.

Been a member here for many years. Well kept and clean but I get annoyed week after week with the staff not monitoring the 30 minute workout area. There is a sign stating that fact yet members are either ignorant of the rules or just completely inconsiderate. Members continually cut in at different stations blocking the continuity of getting in the 30 minute workout at all the stations. The staff needs to do their job and educate the errant members.

I've been at Planet Fitnesses in 7 states since July 2020 and this one WAS my fave. Very spacious, not too crowded, attentive staff who are always walking around doing things.
Plus they still have Life Fitness cardio machines. The newer clubs have the Precor which I do not like.
Also love the high ceiling in the place. Makes it feel even more spacious.
Update June 2022:
Place has really gone downhill. Staff is inattentive and unfriendly. Paper towel dispensers and disinfectant bottles often empty. Main positive is that it's spacious and you don't feel cramped while working out.

Well I sign up here because it’s close to my job. And second they open 24 hours but then Covid happened it’s only open Monday- Thursday 24 hours. My shift is 3- 11:30 I go to planet fitness after work.my complain is the stuff never even greeted me or they not even friendly. They kind a annoyed that I’m there in late hours. Then. Now starting 4/5/2022 they close the fitness club everyday from 1am-2am because they have to clean the gym. that is the time I workout. I am hoping they are still open even they are cleaning it.not too many people go on that time so I don’t understand why they have to close it. They can clean the other gym equipment while nobody uses it.

Every morning I get to the gym there’s no one at the front desk. I like to tan before I do my workout since no one is there I stand and wait. Most of the time the guy who works the front desk is running around cleaning n replacing supplies so I totally understand and once he sees me, he comes straight over and helps me. Today, I stood at the front desk for 15 min, no one showed up and no one is cleaning so which means the GIRL is working. Last time she left the front desk n had me waiting, as I see her running in with a 7 eleven bag of food. Shouldn’t there be a worker at the desk at all times? I walked in at 6:18 today, now it’s 6:45 and no worker in sight. I even checked the bathroom and NO ONE!!!

Everytime I go work out, I have an extremely negative encounter with the female employee who works night shifts. Everytime I walk in she rolls her eyes and says things about me to the other coworkers. I asked for a mask and she denied me it many times. One time I asked the other employee for a mask and she looks at her and says don’t give her one. And all I see her do is flirt with all the boys that go to that gym and give them masks. I’ve noticed she’s done this with all female customers at the gym. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE OF HER TO DO THIS TO ALL YOUR FEMALE CUSTOMERS!!!!!! Other than her, the gym is always maintained well and I have a great workout there.

I love this location it is a friendly environment with a dedicated staff cleaning and assist each person 24/7. As black card member who workout a lot from various locations from Planet Fitness Franchises nationwide. I love to come to this location in Melville New York to workout peacefully and pumping the iron as crazy. As I am a former body builder athelete this place offer me a professional assortment of equipment, bumble's, cardio and squats machine to keep me busy for hours... I definitely recommend this place.

Planet Fitness never misses a beat. This location was extra special for me since am moving to this area very soon. The place was super clean . The staff was very friendly and attentive . If you want to get covid, join this gym!! My friend joined and got covid a week later. He works remote and hadn't left his house in many weeks other than to work out. They do not enforce the mask policy at all!! In fact, their nighttime employee keeps his head down on the desk and is sleeping while at work. If you want to go to a gym for free, just come here at night. They REFUSE to keep sanitizer anywhere near the paper towels dispensers and denfectant to clean the machines. These paper towel dispensers are NON touch-less so they should have sanitizer in that same area. There is actually a space for it too but they say "it gets stolen". What a joke...they can easily tie it down but they are too lazy. In these covid times, how do you not have touch-less or at least sanitizer right there. Not to mention that the trash is always overflowing and paper towels are out because they only go around to check those things at a certain time, rather than when needed. As you can see from the reviews, their response is always, "contact management". Well, management was contacted!!!! And the district manager too, and no changes have been made over many months, even with the infection rate up to 26%!!!!! This place is absolutely disgusting!!!!!

Planet Fitness is the most affordable option.
This is one in Melville is always kept clean.
During COVID, the cleaning was frequent and efficient.
The hours are great...I believe it's opened 24 hours (opened on Sunday)
Plenty of parking and the staff is great and kind
The people that come here are respectful
But there should be a couple of scales in the locker room for people to weigh themselves.
