This gym is going down hill. Paper towels are rarely filled, station 1 in the Circuit workouts section has been out of service for over a month! A month, almost 2. Water fountain been broken a week, had to buy water today. How long does it take to fix a part? Call a plumber? If you are thinking about joining, I'd ask management what's being done to improve basic maintenance and operation. I'm sure there's some other things I could complain about, but you get the gest. PS, How about answering emails from members? amd shades for the windows when the sun is blazing through?

Good music and clean gym, but the patrons here can be so obnoxious. I was here the other night and a man was training three girls and they were taking up three of the lower body machines. Not cool. They were mostly chatting it up too. The other planet fitnesses I’ve been to haven’t had this problem. Very off putting.

I like this place but the only thing is they dont have a hip thruster machine is disappointing. You have to wait all the group of girls on the smith machine be done with they sets or all the benches is taken so most likely will never ended up doing your hip thrust exercises.

It’s a great gym for beginners or any level of fitness. As a Black card member there’s plenty of benefits, access to All planet fitness gyms, tanning, massage chairs and many discounts. I love the atmosphere there although it does get crowded at times. I would still highly recommend planet fitness.

I enjoy coming to this gym but it’s very unfortunate the music that they constantly play here. Sometimes it’s childish music, sometimes it’s anime, sometimes it’s cartoons. Its actually very disturbing and disappointing. That’s the first thing, on top of that, I’m assuming the workers here, they love clapping for some reason? I’m not sure what’ that’s about but I’m sure it’s an inside joke of there’s. Nice gym, poor management and yes that picture is real, if you don’t know what henta1 is, keep it that way please.

Everything about this gym is amazing. Employees are welcoming. All the equipment works. Massage chairs are great. I drive 40 minutes to come to this planet fitness instead of the lawrence one that is only 10 minutes away.

Used to really enjoy going to this gym back when it first opened but since then it's gone downhill. Very few machines for the amount of people that usually go their so expect your workout to be an hour longer waiting for machines/dumbells to be free. Locker room reeks of weed which I don't care but just keep it at home or in the car. Attachments and plates are scattered across the floor which makes setting up a scavenger hunt. Overall this location is way dirtier/disorganized compared to the past. And everything is super crammed. But that's to be expected with a relatively small building. I also recommend to clean machines before and after use because very very few gym goers clean after themselves at this location. If you like working out late at night (11pm-6am) I recommend this. Other then that good luck getting on a smith machine.

I canceled my membership because they are so dirty it wasn’t worth it. I had an experience with bugs on two occasions and it left me mortified I waited a while and came back and tried the bed this time and it was also filthy I didn’t even stay in it because I was afraid I was going to catch something. But the bug flying out at me through the stand up fan was absolutely disgusting I couldn’t believe I went back after they made it like I couldn’t cancel my membership but I could. Laying down and looking up at that was the last straw. They need to do a better job with cleanliness

The way they treat their customers is just "criminal" but I hope the owner does something I see them play fighting with each other the staff members and they're very disrespectful I just gave him my phone number and they started laughing at my face like" what are you talking about?" I’ve generally enjoyed coming to this location and appreciate the atmosphere and convenience it provides. However, I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue that I feel needs to be addressed for the sake of fairness and gym etiquette.

Lately, I’ve noticed some members — particularly middle-aged women — hoarding multiple sets of dumbbells at once, sometimes up to four different weights. Today, I politely asked a woman if I could use one of the sets she had in front of her while she used another, and she flatly said no — despite not actively using the others at the time.

I strongly believe that all members should have equal access to the equipment, especially during peak hours when space and weights are limited. It’s simply not reasonable for one person to hold more than two sets of dumbbells at a time, particularly when others are waiting.

It would be helpful if the gym could reinforce basic etiquette guidelines and encourage more considerate behavior. We all pay the same to be here, and a little courtesy goes a long way in creating a more respectful and efficient environment for everyone.

I finally canceled my membership today after over 2 years of being a paying member, and Merrick was my home gym. Even as more of a beginner in fitness, PF was very lacking in value imo. The customer service sucks, it's always overcrowded during normal hours, and there's barely any space to do actual strength training. I've also been to the Carle Place location which is where I've done more training, and even that dirtier gym has a slightly better weight training section with a larger mirror.

Also, the crowd meter on the app is not helpful. You'll notice it's not even half filled, yet when you get there you won't get a bench and you'll easily have trouble getting other machines.

When I canceled, I wasn't even asked why or given a simple thank you for being a member.

Overall, I regret letting PF charge me for so long during my off and on time with them. I would not recommend PF for most people, especially if you're looking to actually get motivated to go to the gym on a regular basis.

Called the phone number on the contact several times to cancel renewal of membership. The number only gives a busy signal and no one answers the call. Finally, called the number for the facility found on Google and spoke with the receptionist. She sounded very annoyed that I wad requesting the membership to be canceled. When I requested a refund for the amount I was charged the previous day for the upcoming month.l, she proceeded to say, that refunds are never done and what part of that do you not understand. She then passed the phone to the assistant manager to deal with me. He emphasized that somewhere in the contract there is a statement saying that my bank will be automatically charged eventhough membership is on monthly basis. And that the manager is not available to issue any kind of a refund and might be back in a day or possibly next week. He had a condescending attitude as well as the receptionist that answered the call. I don't want to deal with the aggravation of having the same type of experience with "the manager".

Not enough machines for the amount of people that show up which I know it’s not in their control. but I waited 20+ minutes to get on a treadmill and turns out the incline doesn’t work on it. I then go to kill time at a leg machine to wait for a new treadmill to open and the pin for one of the bars on the machine doesn’t work. I left after that no longer able to be bothered and went to a different location. It was so clean when it first opened and you can tell they’ve let that aspect of the gym go too. The only plus is it’s 24 hours.

Too many members not enough equipment be prepared to wait 15 minutes between Machine exercises and bench's just to get a daily workout. There's no employees walking the floor to stop anybody from holding or hogging multiple machines. I definitely would say it is worth the price for 10 bucks a month but So does everybody else. Front staff is excellent .

* Note to the manager: Possible think of way To reserve benches and squat machines. Number them and have 10 minute timeslots that you can reserve online or at the front desk

I need to express my disappointment with this specific location. In today's politically divisive climate, I find it very upsetting to find that this location has Fox News on multiple screens, with no other news channels represented. Every other planet fitness location shows the full spectrum of the news channels, but this location is biased toward only one. When i mentioned this to someone at the front desk, they offered me no help at all.

Horrible experience here. The gym manager YOLANDA, wouldn't allow my daughter to workout and told her to go home because she had on crocs. She was so rude to us. We didn't even know crocs weren't allowed, no one ever told us that. But instead of a kind warning like you should treat your patrons, she rudely told her to go home or wait outside. In front of everyone, she told her to go home. It woulve been fine if she kindly told us next time we come to not wear crocs, but instead she took out her bad attitude on my daughter. She was so unkind and that's not how you treat customers. Please treat your customers better. So we both left.

I super love that Planet Fitness Merrick is open 24 hours...7 days a week. I cannot find a gym near Bay Shore that is open at 12 midnight on a Friday Sat or Sun. I also love that the treadmills are newer and have digital readouts.

The gym no longer gets the job done. Crowd meter says 4/10, I’m waiting for every machine I want to use, or for the free weights... This place is so crowded, too crowded to enjoy. The paper towel machines are always empty. People consistently do not use the 30 minute workout area correctly, and telling the staff won’t do anything as I see they don’t really enforce many rules here. The new pizzeria takes away a lot of parking, there’s groups of kids everywhere not using the machines right… it’s become a bit of a lawless circus land rather than a gym

The 2 guys that work there are amazing and such gentlemen. I hope they get recognition because they are there every single day I go. I even went at 1am and they were there. BEWARE! Unless you plan to be a member forever, DO NOT JOIN!! They MAKE you give your bank account info or you can't join. Then the young lady on the morning shift at Merrick, Ash (Ashley?), totally messes up your account and you start getting $10 late fees. It is a nightmare to cancel . Spencer at their HQ in NH could not (or maybe, would not?) help. I am trying to do the right thing and reconcile final payments. I had to block ABC Planet fitness from my bank account and from the backup credit card they keep on file. I am now happy at another gym with a pool, steam room, and hot tub. Paying more, but the new gym is flexible about how you pay, and staff actually cares about their patrons. Merrick does have a great Manager and great night staff, but beware Ash on the morning shift! She ruins it for the whole club

Planet Fitness in Merrick is horrendous. I’ve worked out at pretty much every gym on Long Island from Bev Francis to Planet Fitness. There is absolutely 0 gym etiquette. I see signs all over the walls that people are supposed to re rack there weights etc. I was there last night and there was a group of guys basically running the entire gym with half the dumbbells on the floor and plates all over the place. That gym is supposed to be a comfortable experience for new comers and it is was the exact opposite. Me and my girlfriend left there disgusted at how that gym is being run. As I went to leave I mentioned it to the young girl behind the desk and she acknowledged exactly what was going on but I could tell that she was nervous to have to approach 6-8 men who were probably 6ft and up and 200+ lbs. You need to staff a gym like Merrick with people who will actually step up to the people who are disrespecting your gym. Send an undercover boss into there and you will be appalled at how badly it’s being run. If you care about this gym you will hire employees who care about it as well.
