Shame on you Peekskill PF. That was BS suddenly closing on Friday and telling people to leave at that moment because electricians wanted to get started working. Schedule the work accordingly or have them wait the 40 minutes until closing. With no emergency and just telling your customers to leave within a few minutes is unacceptable and thoughtless. If something comes up, offer them 20 to 30 minutes to leave. What about those who just arrived, what about those on the road with this as their only option to wash up after exercising, and what about those who come there for their mental sanity. Of course things do come up, but given no emergency vehicles or immediate issues I feel it could have been handled much better, with more consideration for you patrons. A great gym with some great people working there, but today, Disappointing...

I am praying against all hope that they are not replacing the far superior Life Fitness machines that used to be here with the ergonomic nightmare that is the Matrix brand. Matrix not only sucks, but a lot of the machines endanger their users.* If you are the manager and you went along with a switch to Matrix, shame on you.
(*How does Matrix make Planet Fitness less accessible? Here’s an example- The Matrix Rotary Torso does not have the back support built into Life Fitness’s Torso Rotation. Having a fairly common spinal injury, I will not touch a Rotary Torso with a ten foot pole. As it’s beyond risky to try to move anything close to real weight, Rotary Torso is useless or “when will the lawsuit come.”)

Edit (2025 edition) - Credit where credit is due, they have improved quite a bit about this place. Many of the machines have been replaced, with new handles that do not have that rubber piece that constantly slips off. I haven't had internet issues there in a while. They've got some new equipment, including a supine bench, which is great. And the staff, notably the dude who looks like The Dude who always wears shades inside, seem like they care a bit more these days.

The vibe is still way off in there, it's probably a product of the lack of natural lighting, which I guess they can't do much about. If they don't do the "teens work out for free" thing again this summer I'll give them 4 stars.

Edit - the internet has been out for a week here.

Also, when they go around cleaning the equipment, they will clean what you're actively using. Every time I'm on the stairs and they vacuum, someone comes behind me and vacuums the stairs, triggering the emergency stop and causing me to nearly injure myself. This happens once a week. You guys are a joke.

Edit - it's been a year and I hate it here more than ever. One star. Getting my own weights I don't care how much it costs, I'll put them on a credit card.

The staff at this gym are super friendly, and this review isn't reflective of them. Here are my issues with this PF:
- The lighting is awful. It just feels depressing in there. I understand as a franchise they're probably limited in their ability to control this.
- The paper towel/cleanser situation is abysmal and frustrating. If you care about your equipment being clean, I wouldn't feel super comfortable on a lot of the machines here for the simple fact that the paper towel supply can be so inconsistent.
- It's not the cleanest. Maybe Snap Fitness in Tarrytown spoiled me, but this PF just feels a little dingy.
- Standard PF complaints- weights not heavy enough, no free bar, smith machines always occupied, etc.
And that is my feedback. Take it at your own risk.

The manager Christine is friendly and responsive. She makes sure things run well. My only complaint is that the person who opens on the weekends tends to run late and there have been a few times no one has shown up. However the manger is very responsive and professional in addressing the issue.

I have to say, when I first started at this gym I was skeptical because of my experiences at other PFs. Surprisingly my experience after a year of being a member has been pleasant. New machines have been added, more weight racks, and staff are always cleaning. Now we just need to continue and expand the weight area and more benches please! I really appreciate the hard work guys.

Extremely poor customer service, I cancelled my membership in October 2024 and proper action was never taken on PF's end so I was billed for an additional 5 months. They put my bank account into the negative and refused to assist with a problem they created. The manager Sky is rude, talks over you and consistently lies. I would not recommend this location, if any inconvenience arises they blow it off and do not deal with it professionally. DO NOT GO HERE.

, I don’t. While there are new machines—some good, some questionable—the bigger issue is that there are fewer machines overall. If you’re focused on weight training, this makes it much more challenging.

These changes have made me reconsider whether I should continue at this gym or switch to Level Fitness or another facility. I’ve been a member since the beginning, back when this space was a furniture store, and I’m disappointed that with the influx of new members, there wasn’t a better plan to ensure more machines were available.

If improvements aren’t made soon, I’ll be joining others in looking for a new gym. The only reason I gave it two stars is because of the two mature women who work at the front desk in the evenings—they are professional and always pleasant. Unfortunately, some of the younger staff spend too much time socializing instead of maintaining professionalism and working.

Lastly, I wish they would reconsider the summer program allowing students to attend for free. It makes the gym overcrowded, and I dread coming in during those months.

Have to say I was very disappointed and angry. I am a 500 pound man really trying my best to stay alive and I signed up so I can make a change in my life. Me and my wife have no one to watch out kids it's just us and having the black card is easier and cheaper finically. I understand there might be rules but I was parked simply outside of the building and had my kids in the car and since the kids are not allowed inside I told my wife go in and I would go in after. When I stepped outside to watch my car with my kids inside one of the workers came and told me I had to stay inside or they would throw my wife out. I explained to her that j was simply watching my kids and staying in front of the building I was not leaving. She still told me if I did not go back inside she would throw my wife out. I than explained we have no one to watch my kids and i just need to work out because I recently lost my brother to a heart attack and I did not want to end up the same way. Although she said sorry for my lost she insisted in making my wife leave since I could not go back inside and I was so angry I canceled my membership. I was not going no where I was in front of the building keeping an eye on my kids but she could not let it go and just had to be employee of the month I guess.

I had a question about a charge to my account and the 1st person who answered explained the situation clearly. I did a check online and realized there were in fact 3 ways to cancel your account. 1 being sending an email. I called a few minutes later and the 2nd person who answered was outright disrespectful.

Very short and almost hostile with her responses and then went on to explain to me that she has to explain this very often to customers...I did not lose my mind but surely I wanted to.
The customer service was deplorable and as a customer I chose to go elsewhere. Hopefully, somewhere employees aren't overwhelmed because they have to explain policies to members.

Wish I could give this 0 stars. Tamia was rude, not helpful and scoffing at her coworker Andrew for not checking me in on the right computers. My phone was dead and they wouldn’t let me check in with my black card so they signed me in as a plus one under my husband’s card. I said NO I want to be checked in to use the tanning. They wouldn’t check me in and they wouldn’t let me use the tanning which I pay for. Skylar white the corporate club manager was able to pull up my account and was saying it inactive when my account actually IS active. I don’t understand the issue. What happens if people lose or break their phone? Then they can’t use their paid for black card membership? Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Will never be coming back here. Also, Tamia said oh we don’t look peoples names up or their phone numbers that’s not allowed. Like what? How do you not have that option? I travel for work so I visit many planet fitness locations. I have to say I was very disappointed in the shower situation at this location. I have never experienced such terrible showers at any location. First, the handicap shower was not operational at all, it would only drip water no water pressure at all. I moved to the next shower, this one was covered in hair, which I understand does happen. I moved to shower number three which NEVER got hot at all and when it finally got to what can only be described as Luke warm it quickly returned to cold. I quickly got washed in this freezing shower and got out of there. The shower heads also look like they are the cheapest ones they could possibly find. This is obviously a very busy location as there was no open machines in the building so I do not understand why they do not have better facilities. Completely unacceptable. I recommend people go elsewhere.

It's a nice place to work 😌 out. A lot of teenagers go there. There are a lot of adults as well. They keep their place clean. Parking is always available, with no weighting. It's in a good shopping area. I like the candy that they give you in a bucket if you choose to take one. I remember when they gave you pizza on thursdays. It was very cool.

This gym is poorly designed / organized. The machines that you really need to build muscles are ALWAYS busy PLUS members waiting to use (located at front of gym by entrance). So, I never get to use them during my hour workout. This occurs mainly btwn 5 pm and 12 am (all days). But, if you only want cardio, there are plenty unused ones and you never have to wait for one. Planning to cancel my membership since I can never use all of the machines when I’m there.

Planet Fitness is a good value for what it offers. For me the location is convenient and close to home. The gym is clean and maintained, occasionally the bathrooms are messy but that's expected in any Health Club. Previously I have worked part time in the Health Club industry as a Certified Fitness Trainer. Because of this I feel very comfortable within the setting, but I do see others who are obviously beginners and are not 100% sure of how to execute exercises and set the machines correctly for their needs. For example seat heights, or how to monitor their heart rate while doing cardiovascular exercises. I am presuming these services are not offered by certified staff in order to keep the monthly membership fee's low. Over the years, either working as a Trainer or participating as a gym member the one thing that I noticed that keeps people coming back is seeing and feeling results. If Planet Fitness had just one Qualified Trainer walking the floor to help with the basics, it would make the difference to many who need the guidance, it would encourage people who are open to the suggestions, and make their workouts more effective. This would help members feel encouraged and enthusiastic by seeing results.

It's decent. It's more crowded than the Mahopac location where I prefer to go. The machines are close together and there's usually a lot of people when I go (5pm weekday). They only have one of a lot of the weight machines so you have to wait more often. The tvs are mounted on the walls instead of on the treadmills, which I prefer. The women's locker room is really big and it's clean with several private changing rooms.

I started my fitness journey at the Peekskill Planet Fitness 12 years ago. 10 years ago, I moved away for college and then a few years later moved to another city for work. A few years ago I moved back to the Peekskill area to be closer to family, and rejoined the Peekskill Planet Fitness. The people who work at the gym are just as friendly as the people from 2011. I even see some of the same gym members from 12 years ago still doing their workouts at this gym. Fitness journeys often don't have a destination; for me the Peekskill Planet Fitness has made me appreciate the journey and look forward to the next workout.

Planet Fitness in Peekskill, NY is a good buy. The club is clean and has all the right equipment. People at the club are friendly and genuinely nice and the staff is awesome. This is definitely a great value and, in my opinion, not to be missed. Staffers that are especially nice and competent are Joel and Alan. Couldn't be nicer and more helpful. They offer premium features for a small additional sum but the basic plan worked great for me. Run don't walk to check it out!
