They are not cooperative at all. The instructor does not understand a single english word. I attended the “design your own program” class and seemed like i was the only student for that slot. The instructor took me to the elliptical machine and started training and describing me how it works in spanish which i dont understand. Then i asked him to help me design my plan. And his response was like i asked for something illegal and replied he can not help with a plan. Then he took me to the manager who came across a bit rude and tried to make me understand that this is what planet fitness wants if you are not a black card member. So essentially they will not provide any help and you are just on your own.

I went today I go all the time. But it was crazy six of the machines out of maybe the 20 downstairs had the weight stopper missing. I don’t know if people are stealing them but to not be able use any of the machines it’s crazy. If I have to buy my own I will but this is crazy. A lot of the machines again are broken and they have been all week doesn’t look like they are trying to fix it.

About 10 machines now a broken and have been for the past two weeks. It’s looks like they are not trying fix it anytime soon.

Unfortunately, I must rate this gym one star. Due to an accident, I have been unable to attend in person and have called daily, providing documented proof of the incident. Each time, I am told the manager is either in a meeting, unavailable, or otherwise occupied. At this point, I am beginning to question whether a competent manager exists or whether there is simply a lack of concern for members. I expect this matter to be resolved promptly — I want my membership canceled and my refund issued without further delay.

I'm not one to write negative reviews, but I am posting this because I would like this Planet Fitness to incorporate my feedback. This Planet Fitness is quite crowded and most machines are not usually available, there are no places I could find to refill my water bottle which is needed in a gym, there is a terrible smell as soon as I enter and as soon as I leave, little ventilation, and the selection of machines/weights is quite limited. I have been to another planet fitness that was much better than this one, and I have been sadly disappointed by my experience here. Furthermore, the sink was overflowing and had dark, murky water today in the bathroom. The other sink was out of service. Please if you can take my feedback and experience into consideration, would be greatly appreciated. Please send this review to the general manager so they can review. Thanks.

Be careful people, in this gym there is a thief who breaks the locks of the lockers and steals your belongings and he does it so quietly and calm because the room does not even have security cameras, and the staff does not help you much either. Newer equipment and weights, but the problem is you can't get to any of it and there's not enough. One set of cables for the whole gym?
Nobody puts the weights back in their proper spot so it's a mess. People will camp out on one of their three Smith machines for an hour, and there's very little gym etiquette going on here.
The staff is friendly and helpful however, and I noticed them cleaning the equipment on the main floor several times. Too few paper towel and spray dispensers however meant that hardly anyone wiped down the equipment after use.
As a black card member I was able to visit this gym for a week while on vacation. Needless to say I will be very happy to go back to my home gym.

It has a wide variety of machines for working out, but the facility could be bigger and have more machines. Whenever I go in the afternoon, I have to spend a lot of time waiting for a machine to be free, which doesn't let me train the way I want, and details like that really put me off. Some machines are out of order. The bathrooms are very nice. The monthly rate is good. The spa area is fine.

I’m really disappointed with Planet Fitness. The gym seriously needs to address the issue of members occupying machines for long periods without using them. It’s incredibly frustrating to see people just sitting on machines for 10–15 minutes at a time, often scrolling on their phones, especially during peak hours.

There doesn’t seem to be any system in place to ensure that everyone gets fair access to the equipment. This makes the gym experience feel disorganized and inefficient. We come here to train, not to waste time waiting around for others to finish texting.

I hope Planet Fitness considers implementing some kind of time limit or rotation system on machines during busy hours. It would make a big difference in helping all members stay on track with their workouts.

Atleast I am stating not only the issue but also suggesting a solution.

I joined Planet Fitness at 86-01 Roosevelt Ave, Queens, NY 11372, United States for classic membership since 1/28/2022. On 3/1/2025 Planet Fitness app offered “ Black Card” membership upgrade with free monthly fee for March, 2025, so I upgraded to “ Black Card” membership on 3/1/2025. However, I was charged twice for both classic and black card annual membership fee in the amount of $ 40.76 and $ 51.21 in March, 2025. I spoke with both manager and assistant manager at the above Planet Fitness location 3 times to request refund and they said they kept ignoring my request. There is neither email/phone call for response about my request for refund.
Also, if you guys have similar issues, don’t forget to make complaint to BBB Complaint. The most disgusting gym ever!

EDITED TO ADD: officially one star now. The “owner” replied with a generic response but still no one has done anything. Obviously I’ve spoken to the staff about this, that’s why I’ve resorted to a review to get help. Still, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. Disgraceful customer service and beginning to believe what other reviewers have said- it seems the corporation doesn’t care about this location because it’s in a low income area with people of color. 🤷🏽‍♀️

They say cold showers build character. Remains to be seen, but if I’m going to find out it will be at the Jackson heights planet fitness. According to my meat thermometer the water was 66.6 degrees today (pictured). For reference, according to google, the average person showers with water between 95 and 105 degrees. I’m guessing they don’t want people showering and deliberately keep the water cold, but jokes on them because it’s not stopping me 5 mornings a week. I will, however, proceed to btch about it all over the internet.
And to circle back to my opening statement, I conclude that cold showers don’t build character because I’m not a stronger person as a result. Just a more bitter one.

My son and I been going to this location for two months I have seen many broken locker (they looked forced open) In the woman’s locker room!! I was not as concerned about it think maybe people had just forgotten there locker numbers and had forced it open to get there stuff, until yesterday March 1st my son when into the gym leaving his things in the locker to proceed to work out! When he returned his locker had been broken and someone stole his north face jacket and wallet!! He talked to the front desk they told me to come back the next day to check cameras.When I went the next morning , the manager looked at the cameras but she never even made eye contact with me which made me feel very ignored.the other two employees there were nicer and talked to me asking me questions .Just when I was waiting for the cameras Someone came from the basement (where the lockers are) and told the front desk that there things were stolen, it seems like the people who were stealing knew what things were being put in the lockers as the items stolen were expensive jackets ( Canada goose and Monclare) and wallet's . I’m very disappointed at this as we had been going here for a while and nothing bad at happened.We did contact the police which wrote reports and said would notify us if anything else happened.Be careful where you put your things ,hope this doesn’t Happen to anyone else

I had an unfortunate experience at this Planet Fitness location. While I understand the importance of membership policies, I was surprised and disappointed when the front desk staff refused to let me use the restroom simply because I wasn’t a member.

As a fitness center that prides itself on being a “judgment-free zone,” I would have expected a bit more empathy and understanding. Emergencies can happen, and providing access to something as simple as a restroom could leave a much more positive impression of the brand.

I hope Planet Fitness reconsiders this policy and trains their staff to handle such situations with more compassion. A little kindness can go a long way in building goodwill and enhancing the overall experience for members and potential members alike.

I have previously joined many Planet Fitness branches, but if there is a cheap gym in Jackson Heights, then I mean no disrespect to you, but this is the reality. Day by day, Planet Fitness’s reputation is deteriorating. Your gym has fewer machines and benches, etc. When I use your Elliptical run machines, the handles where we keep our phones are extremely dirty, and I get allergies when using your exercise machines. I have to clean them myself before using them.

Additionally, upstairs and downstairs, many people just sit on their phones, not allowing others to use the machines. Almost every machine has some issue—it’s been a year, and these problems still haven’t been fixed. The grips on various machine handles are faulty and cause hand pain when used. The bathrooms smell bad, etc.

We come to the gym to improve our bodies, but coming here feels like being in jail.

Previously, my friends and many others reported the same issues on Google, and you always replied with something like, 'We are sorry for your problem, please talk to our management, and they will help you.' But the management never helps with these issues.

First of all, I come to this PLANET FITNESS because it’s located a block away from my house, and I don’t have enough time to go somewhere else.
I’D SAY 60% TO 70% OF THE TREADMILL MACHINES ARE USUALLY BROKEN AND NOBODY TAKES CARE OF THEM -Some of them have been broken for over 6 months- (I don’t speak about the other machines cause these are the ones I use the most). IT TOOK THE MANAGEMENT QUIET A WHILE TO EVEN PUT “OUT OF ORDER SIGNS” ON SOME OF THEM; You’ll see people walking around the two long aisles looking for a working machine, and stepping up and down off them once they realized these are broken. I personally feel overwhelmed having to do that all the time. Like today, there were only 13 machines working out of the 32 they have in the facility (I may have miscounted) IF THEY DON’T WANT TO INVEST OUR MONEY ON FIXING THEM, COULD THEY PLEASE AT LEAST PUT SIGNS IN ALL OF THEM AND STOP FOOLING US??? LIKE COME ON! WE ALL LOOK DUMB TRYING ONE MACHINE AFTER THE OTHER ONE. THIS IS DISRESPECTFUL. On the other hand, They don’t take good care of the paper towels dispenser, these are sometimes either broken for long or out of paper, plus the don’t keep an eye on refilling hand sanitizers (these are empty most of the time). They provide customers with WINDEX to SANITIZE the machines after each use, which I don’t think is considered a sanitizer at all. WINDEX DOES NOT KILL GERMS (You can googled it).

I’m so sorry to be a complainer, but even though PF is an affordable gym, as customers paying for a service, we deserve better than this.

En el gim ..de la 86 st de Roosevelt. Estaba haciendo mi rutina de ejercicios, me percate de un. Cell. En una maquina q estaba sola, le comunique a una empleada del gimnasio q alguien se había olvidado y no lo guardo q es lo q debió haber hecho, después de media hora tome el celular esperando q llamara para entregarlo...lo encontré al dueño en el baño y me pregunto si había encontrado el celular y le dije q si.
Se lo devolví puesto q la obligación de la trabajora era guardarlo, al fin y al cabo me acusaron de ratero.
Pueden chequear las estuve en el gimnasio como una hora y al salir me cancelaron, muy mala actitud de la supervidorsita esa. Q no sabe hacer su trabajo...le dije q se lo devolví, debió haberme dado las gracias y ponerse a decirme ladron....me dijo q mi deber era agarrarlo y entregarlo....yo le dije como lo voy agarrar si no es mio , por eso le avise a una trabajadora.
Por q no llamaron a la trabajadora y a dueño...le hize un favor a ella y el sr. Recupero el el cell. Dentro del gim. Esa supervisora tiene muy mala actitud.
Q lastima q uno va con buenas intenciones y por falta de experiencia administrativa pasa esto.
Mientras q el cell. No salga del gim. Y el dueño recupere su cell. Sea quien fuere q se lo entregue no es robo...

I’ve been unemployed for 2 months. I’ve finally got a job and I cannot for the life of me fix my account. Every time I put money in to fix my negative balances planet fitness hits me with more charges that are well double the monthly membership. My account got fixed yesterday and had $70 left and now I’m back to -$74 because of more planet fitness charges. On top of that, my bank hit me with a $35 over draft fee on top of the Planet fitness $46 fine for not being able to pay my balance. Instead of reaching out to me and trying to fix the payment method or offer cancelation or anything, they just charge me all these fees and now I’m working just to give my money to planet fitness. $20 a month turned to nearly $200 just for planet fitness.

There’s no reason why a disabled man should feel pressured to answer questions while having a private conversation with his wife in the black card spa area 🙄..

I’ve visited this location a total of 3 times. On my third visit, I was fortunate enough to deal with the apparent bane of this location (Ms. Lizette - location manager).

I walked into the spa area addressing my wife and expressing my dissatisfaction with a front desk team member.

The planet fitness employ in question had questioned my membership level (even though I had JUST checked both my wife and I into the spa area for a quick massage before work), was also sitting on her ass/holding up the line in comparison to her coworker and generally had an attitude unbecoming of a customer service representative.

As soon as I addressed my wife, she began questioning who I was referring to and what I meant by my comment. She obviously didn’t seem to care that it was an A and B conversation nor did she seem to wanna see herself out it.

As she became more beligerante I began losing my patience and informed her of every answer she so vehemently wanted from me as well as told her my intent.

I’ll be reporting this incident to corporate as well as actively pressuring the location to become more accessible to disabled people/prior service members.

Update:

Ms. Lizette Rodriguez, general manager at this location took it upon herself to report a personal conversation I was having with my wife to corporate in order to get my account banned.

She happened to overhear a comment > took it personally > then reported the interaction to corporate in order to get my account banned for "misconduct/breach of contract".

She obviously felt personally attacked which is why she then pressed me and questioned every aspect of said conversation (WHICH I WAS HAVING WITH MY WIFE IN AN EMPTY BLACK CARD SPA ROOM SHE WAS CLEANING).

Had she minded her business and allowed a private conversation to stay private instead of interjecting and questioning a black card member who has been so on and off for YEARS, she would have been none the wiser as to who was being spoken of. The employee in question I was commenting on could've been anyone in my personal life/at my job or in my wifes' personal life or job.

Yet, had she not felt the need to begin questioning who I was speaking of (IN MY PRIVATE CONVERSATION) she would've never heard my disdain for one of the worst policy/training habits they've instated for front desk employees - having black card members rescan their membership in order to gain access to EVERY spa related activity (even if another member has already checked you in).

Part of me wants to take this up with corporate and have her fired for abuse of power, sue the location for misconduct and gain all my years of membership fees as restitution. However, I rather stick to the New York Sports club which offers discounted memberships for students (I'm non-matriculated at La Guardia College).

I WILL be following up with corporate though 🙃

P.s. Check out their automated response even after corporate kept the ban active. Guess I'll reach out to the Americans with Disabilities lawyers soon.

Planet Fitness in Jackson Heights is a great gym! The staff are attentive and do a fantastic job keeping the gym clean and organized. There are two machines for each type of equipment, which is perfect for this location. The Planet Fitness app is also super helpful, providing detailed information about each piece of equipment and being very user-friendly. Highly recommend this gym for anyone in the area!

😡 Just saw someone hold down a bench for more than a hour while barely doing two bench related exercises. They were mostly on their phone or doing exercises which didn't require the bench. And there were only three benches on that floor, the other two were also occupied by hoggers. And the bench I kind of understand, you can do a whole workout which requires it. But why do some people use 1 machine for 30-45 minutes?

The gym has ok equipment for what you pay but because it's the cheapest gym in one of nyc's most crowded residences, it attracts less serious people who are there to hang out, do things slowly and have no respect for others time. That alone is enough to make you want to join another gym.

I am extremely disappointed with the condition of this Planet Fitness location. The air circulation is virtually nonexistent, making the gym feel uncomfortably humid, and the smell is unbearable. It’s hard to get through a workout when the air quality is so poor.

Beyond that, the cleanliness of the facility is alarming. I’ve seen dirty gym lockers with used bandages left behind, broken toilet paper holders in the restrooms, and noticeable mold and dust accumulating in various areas. It’s clear that little effort is put into maintaining this gym in proper condition, which is especially surprising given that other Planet Fitness locations I’ve visited don’t have these issues.

What’s most concerning is that it seems the gym’s standards are lower because of its location. With the demographic here being primarily Hispanic immigrants, it feels like the gym is counting on the fact that people will tolerate these subpar conditions. This is unfair and unacceptable—every community deserves a clean, well-maintained gym. I hope the management addresses these problems soon because this location has fallen far below basic expectations.

Don’t get me started. Missing attachments, every single machine is dented or broken in some way, absolutely filthy. All the components to scale the cables are missing. This gym either needs new management or it needs to be deleted.

Yo cancele mi membresía por qué no me interesa la plataforma por la manera que tratan a los clientes y me vuelven a enviar el día de ayer que mi membresía está activa. Cuando en la oficina de planet fitness me entregaron mi cancelación de membresía...

Que mal servicio... De parte de los empleados por qué cuando un cliente de la empresa tiene un problema hasta lo bloquean para no solucionar el problema... Que mala atención al cliente que lo quieren tratar a uno como si uno fuera un animal..

DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM
Planet fitness is known for having excusiating processes of cancelations i been trying to cancel for 3 months and when i always get there to cancel it myself, the manager is not there or there's something wrong in the system, i wasted 3 months trying to cancel this bs and they still billed me for those 3 months. A lot of equipment needs maintenance or it's broken and they won't let you use it neither fix it in a timely manner, there's LINES to use certain equipment because there's only one like that in the entire building, it's just not enough equipment for the amount of people they have there.

I have a lot of experience with planet fitness , I have used the gym for years , in multiple states . This is absolutely the worst planet fitness location in existence, it needs a complete overhaul. I live in Jackson Heights and would rather travel to forest hills or Astoria because this location is consistently terrible ! Do you guys even care about negative reviews ? There is no gym etiquette just a bunch of people hanging out taking up space , hogging equipment, sitting on their phones . It is almost impossible to get in an effective workout here . The staff is very inattentive, they don’t regulate anything . You guys need to take some notes from Forest hills , this place sucks

One of the Worst Planet Fitness Locations I've Encountered

As a frequent traveler who has visited over a hundred Planet Fitness locations across the country, I was disappointed to find that this particular gym falls far short of expectations. While the facility itself is not the main issue, the constant breakdown of multiple machines for extended periods is frustrating.

However, the real problem lies with the members who fail to adhere to basic gym etiquette. It's like a daycare, especially during the summer months, with huge groups of kids (often 5 or more) flooding the gym, oblivious to the rules and courtesies expected in a shared workout space. The lack of deodorant, hogging machines for 30+ minutes, and occupying multiple equipment pieces at once are just a few examples of the chaos.

The sheer number of kids in these groups creates a disruptive environment, making it challenging for other members to focus on their workouts. While I applaud the effort to promote a healthy lifestyle, especially among young people, I implore management to address these issues and educate members on basic gym etiquette.

If you're on a tight schedule and need to get in and out, avoid this gym at all costs, especially during peak summer and after-work hours. Be prepared to wait indefinitely. Unfortunately, this location has become more of a social hub for kids than a functional gym.

I’ve been attending planet fitness locations in NYC and other states for a few years now. But this is the first time I really felt I HAVE to leave a review. This location is upper crowded after work (I get off at 7pm) I understand there’s a wait time for machines. I usually wait or use another machine in meantime when the one I want is in use. But at this gym a lot of people are seen SITTING on machines on their phones… A LOT!!!!! I was able to use two machines. But by the time I tried moving on to the 3rd I waited close to 5 mins. So I walked around looking for another. All while noticing 4 people on machines that I wanted, on their phones. Some that were sitting were also having a conversation with someone standing.. after two occasions of me waiting over 5 mins for a machine and still not using it, I decided to just shower and leave. While finishing up my shower I hear “male entering bathroom”. No big deal right? He probably just needs supplies and once he notices a woman in shower he’ll leave” welp… that was far from the case. He got supplies and proceeded to clean and mop shower area…. 🤦🏾‍♀️….. ok now I have to stay in the shower an extra 10 mins to wait until he finishes. I peak out to see him now mopping by the bathroom stall area 🤦🏾‍♀️….. the reason I couldn’t leave shower is because I didn’t pack a robe and didn’t feel comfortable walking out of the shower in my small towel it wasn’t going to cover much. No I wasn’t harmed, yes he was doing his job, no he never looked my direction and was professional while cleaning literally only focused on the floors. That was and is appreciated however I just felt he could have came back once I finished my shower and was secure in dressing room. Some women probably wouldn’t have cared but I did… next time I’ll pack a robe in my gym bag. Also keep in mind gym closes at 11 but I was in shower between 9pm and 9:30pm. So no it wasn’t closing time either. Also Parking sucks in the area,so I doubt I’ll be back at this location. The new location opens June 17th I’ll be going there.

Tips: Staff should walk around more to ensure people are using the machines to workout and not to sit and use their cell.

Complete turn off from the moment I walked through the doors. There were about 3 or 4 members that were having a conversation behind the front desk as opposed to assisting the guests. I waited for my turn so I could explain I just moved to the area, and I would like to see which P.F. I was going to make my home gym as I am equally distant from both this location and the PF in Forest Hills. I had went Friday and was greeted kindly greeted, despite the PF rep being overwhelmed with guests. I explained my intent and he offered me a guest pass for I can feel out the location. That was not the case here. Judith was curt, disconnected and unwilling to assist me, stating that I had to pay the $5 fee or transfer to the gym. Lizzette, who was supposedly the manager also stated I had no other options, either I can pay $5 or $21, and she made sure to emphasize that if I wanted a tour of the location I could not work out. In addition, i had to stand thdre and refill paperwork with useless information, further wasting more of my time, when they easily could have looked in the system at my account for any information they so required. It was a joke honestly. People like them should not work in a setting that is meant to encourage positive energy. They are pretending to do their job, but ultimately all they are doing is deterring clients. The set time i had today to use the facility was wasted, and instead I am using my hour to file a complaint and leave this review. I have been a member of PF for yrs, both reg member and black card, despite inconsistent attendance, my monthly bill is paid every month. In fact, I was just charged the yearly $50+ fee a few days ago. So to be treated with such unprofessionalism, and common decency by these 2 employees who genuinely seemed disinterested in working there, I had already made my decision that I would not join this location, let alone, make it my home base. And this as a member, imagine the amount of business being lost by non members, looking to sign up, because of this treatment. I would not recommend this location at all! In fact, I would highly recommend that PF issue a more thorough training course on customer service here.

I lived in Manhattan and for a long time I went to the planet fitness of canal street and west side of 55th street with ninth avenue ; for me the planet fitness of Jackson Hights is the least equipped, the disc weights down upstairs and abdminal machines up stairs , there are few machines working and other really “out of services” ;the guy who attends should improve his face a little to to have better customer service. I gave them 5 but I’ll really try to change to the Blink because I moved to live to 74 and roosevelt.

Bro the smith machine is never empty and people does who use it spent like 2 hours and not give anyone else any time and pretty much all the equipment for weight are always full I.couldn’t even finish my workout for this reason. Great big gym space. Tons of nice machines that most people wipe down when they're done. It feels crowded because there's no floor space for stretching or whatever and there are loads of people there at all hours of the day. It's a good product and tons of people feel the same way.

No tecomiendo este gym especialmente este tiene una manager Lisette Rodriguez es muy arrogante la estuve buscando por una semana y dejandole mensaje acerca de el problema que uno de sus trabajdores avia cometido al ingresar mi informacion en el sistema para obtener una membresía por ese error me cobraron un recargole esplique que eso avia sido por parte de ellos, ella dijo que ella no podia darme el ningún rembolso que ah pagos ycque ellos decidían si si oh si no darme el rembolso. Le pedi un comprobante de esa solicitud que como ere eso posibre que todavía ivan aver si me regresaban el dinero ya que el error fue de ellos y no mia ellos tomaron mi informacion como es posible que yo tengo que pagar por el error de ellos eso ah ella no le gusto empeso adesirme que la estaba insultando una y otra ves y que si ella quiere puede cancelar mi membresía que que ella tiene el poder de hacerlo y me colgo el teléfono. Terrible gym not planet fitness but this one in particular the reason is there is a group of people come and hold the gym too long until their loved ones finish their job,school ,begging at street whatever it is they come and hand over to them even though you come before and you ask them to give it you you after they finish . The only reason I am still going to this gym cz it’s close to my house and I don’t have luxury of time to go to some other places cz those are far.

I give it a 3 because it smells a lot better than before I can tell they now clean the side hallway more, near the men’s locker.I think the people cleaning now are doing a way better job than before so congrats! I think there is a lot of men in planet fitness in the weightlifting sections ,if you aren’t comfortable with the majority mainly being men there then maybe try somewhere else. But all are very respectful in my experience. I think they just need to get used to seeing u idk. I like the bathrooms are cleaner. The only thing that I don’t like that it is hard to use the smith machine because usually a group of 4 or 5 are sharing the smith machine. I usually want to go to the PF in Steinway to get a better workout because it’s less busy than this one. I would give it a 4 if there was a sauna but they don’t have one, and if it was not as busy.

I cancelled my membership and was told by the employee ( it might be the manager) that i would not be charged annual fee if done by march 30. But after cancelling i am charged with annual fee. i talked with a manager and she is very rude and tells me they do not have to inform me about that. Planet fitness tells us to join them and gives lot of information before joining but while cancelling they do not provide correct information. There seems like a hidden motive to not tell customers the full information or even false information and charge fees. I feel like i am scammed here. It feels like i paid for a charity for nothing.The most bothersome part is the manager does not even care about if people lose money. so adamant about her views and talks so fast and nonstop just to make her point.
