It’s clean with friendly staff but the weekend hours don’t make any sense at all, they should seriously consider extending their hours , before covid the gym was very busy on Friday and Saturday nights so I don’t understand why they chose these ridiculous hours , I’d be better off joining Anytime fitness.

I love the new look and the new equipment but the hours on the weekends are impossible for a lot of us!
Planet Fitness could you PLEASE extend your hours until 11pm on Fridays and 9 pm on Saturdays, a lot of us feel that would be a good compromise and then I’d be able to get a work out in on both days.
Anyone else who feels this way please make posts as well.

Im traveling through the area and after reading the recent reviews I was pretty concerned about the quality of this gym. I called the front desk to make sure everything was working and the person I talked to was friendly and said yes they added that the showers had had a recent remodel. When I got here the staff was friendly and the machines I used worked without issue. There was no out of oder signs on any of the machines. As I did full body lifting I cant speak to the treadmills and stairmasters but everything I used I had no issues with. The whole gym was clean and I saw workers walking around refilling sanction stations and dusking machines. The showers were also clean and looked new the water was hot and I had no issues there ether. Whatever issues this gym may have had in the past have been resolved now I would not be surprised if they had updated their machines too. Overall if you are scared by the other reviews like I was you have nothing to worry about. In short clean, friendly, and everything worked.

This gym needs to be updated with at least 2 or 3 of the most popular gym equipment. There is only 1 of the most popular piece of equipment and people will stand close by to get it. Pec Fly rear delt. There is also a few not here that Clay has, one being one for your calf muscles. This gym is so small that when they have school kids come here for free it gets even more crowded which many just come in to hangout and chill on equipment. Also it says to wipe down after use but I see a few not do that.

7-10-25 update: gym consistently at 74/75 this is too dang hot!but on a good note updated machinery but doesn't connect to android

Overall good facility. Could use better maintenance on treadmills. Sometimes there are like 6 down at once and during peak hours means waiting. Staff is pretty good and helpful

Out of 5 planet fitness locations I have attended, this was by far the worst one.

🚫 Cons: Dirty, dull and poorly lit, it smelled noticeably worse than an average gym, locker room covered in dirt, showers were borderline unusable from a sanitary perspective.

Yea this is about what you would expect. This location in particular is VERY BAD at cleaning the showers on the men’s side. I typically go to the Rome or Watertown club because of this and since I live central to all 3. This club just doesn’t get my business because it’s always filthy. Yesterday evening I went and 1/2 the showers had literal poop on the floors. Being former military I thought I had seen it all but no sir.

I love this PF because it’s so close and while the upgrade of some of the machines is nice, they forfeited a TON of their cardio equipment. The most important for me are the ergonomic bikes which they reduced to only 3. Which means that the availability of these are VERY limited. Currently all are being occupied and 1 is being used by a 12 year old so that’s fun. Unfortunately, I’m going to most likely have to use a different PF that is further from my house in order to ensure that the bike type I need is available. I’m very disappointed in this change.

I came into the Planet Fitness in North Syracuse today interested in purchasing a membership. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Also, very patient and thorough in their explanations regarding all the questions I had asked. They went above and beyond regarding all the other amenities that planet fitness had to offer .

I wanted to take the time to say thank you Mike & Mike for your kindness and positive attitude towards not only me but also the other members walking in and out . I ended up walking out with a membership and looking forward to many future visits .

My partner and I were on vacation doing some shopping in Syracuse and came here to work out since our hotel gym was not very adequate.

This was my first time using my black cards benefit of accessing any planet fitness in the world, and it was great. The staff were friendly and they are stocked up with protein shakes and Celsius. The change rooms were very nice and spacious as well. Amount of machines were pretty good, but it was a little tight; especially in the weights area.

My only complaint is that there is not much of a stretching area. Other than that though, we had a great experience!

I've been going there for a month now and I love it. Clean, well lit parking lot, clean locker room, plenty of machines that so far all appear to be well maintained. Friendly, welcoming staff. Lately it smells very bad in the gym even when there is only 20 people. I know it is a gym. My other issue is the music is annoying. It would be great if they could play other genres instead of techno or rap most of the time. Those of us 40-70, which are alot, just cannot work out to it. I did notice however sometimes the music is quieter and I can hear my music in my headset whick makes the experience more pleasant. The smell is awful though even when I come first thing. On a positive note: I love working out there and the equipment is great! The employees are friendly and helpful if you ask for help.

If you are looking for a gym that is going to rip you off then Planet Fitness is the place. I signed up with Planet Fitness (north Syracuse location) at the beginning of August 2023. I used their facility maybe only once or twice and just didnt like their gym and equipment. At August 29th i went in to this location and cancelled my membership and figured i was good but i was wrong. In the beginning of October i noticed charges in my bank account from Planet Fitness so i contacted Mark the manager at the north syracuse location and told him what was going on. I told him I canceled my membership on August 29th but was still getting charged. He asked if i got a “cancellation sheet” which i did but unfortunately could not find. Since then i have gotten the run around and nothing has been done. They took close to $100 from me since i cancelled my membership and will not refund me what im owed. So now im eating $100 because the employees at Planet Fitness dont know how to do their jobs. This is unacceptable. Ive read through other peoples reviews on google and have seen the same issue. Ill never do business with Planet Fitness again and have family members that are going to cancel their memberships as well. Ive asked to speak to a regional manager and they have just flat out denied me that. This place is such a scam and would avoid this place at all costs! Go to Crunch Fitness if you dont want to be ripped off.

After posting this review PF owner responded to this review and asked me to screen shot the review and email them which i did and in return they did nothing. They didnt even respond to my email. Planet Fitness doesnt care about customer retentions. They only care about taking peoples money even after customers cancel their memberships.

The North Syracuse PF has the best and hardest working staff that I have had the pleasure to interact with. Whether it's about a new membership or general knowledge about gym requirements, this staff goes above and beyond what is asked of them and their requirements. Just popped in for a quick shower and a TBE. This is probably my last favorite PF for showers. The stalls are small, and I'm only 5'2" and 110 lbs. Even the handicapped shower was just as tight. They did provide a seat for use in the handicapped shower, which I wound up needing to use for my bag because the hooks outside the stall were only good for a towel.

However, Michael made my night by squeezing me in at the last minute for the TBE. It was hectic, and within 20 minutes of closing, and I would have totally accepted if he told me it was too late, but he didn't. Tyr red light therapy is exactly what I needed after the stressful day I had, and thanks to his commitment to the members, I got it! I was going to dock a star for the less than ideal showers, but Michael more than made up for them with his outstanding service!

UPDATE (next day): The limited hours over the weekend for the entire Syracuse region is ridiculous! There isn't a single PF open within 100 miles? Seriously? Every single decent sized city has one that is open until atleast 10pm on the weekends, usually 24 hours. If I lived in this area, I'd be canceling my membership because the gym isn't available to me 90% of the time when I need it most. There is no reason you can't choose 1 PF in the area to stay open later.

I just started there, so keep that in mind. So far so good. Tons of equipment. Everyone seems to be good about wiping down after use, which is nice. The best features are reserved for the top tier membership, but if you use them, it's worth it - tanning, some red light booth, and two kinds of massage beds. One is like the one you see in the mall, and the other is a water one. That one is great. Seems to be patronized by everyday people and not just muscle heads. A few folks seem to go there to be seen, but just a few. Staff is friendly, spacious locker room, decent showers.

I like PF because it's everywhere and the price is right. Good gym for beginner to intermediate lifters. They have a lot of newer machines which is a plus , but if you're a more serious lifter , you're not going to be satisfied here. Dumbbells only go up to 75 lbs. Curling bars only go up to 60 lbs. There's NO freeweight benching, only Smith machines. In fact the only equipment that uses plates are the Smith machines and leg press. Lastly , the color scheme... yellow , black and purple. Its kinda hard on the eyes. In conclusion , if you're a beginner , 5 stars. If you're a lifter 2 stars.
