This Planet Fitness location lacks proper training, communication, and cleanliness. Front desk staff are often on their phones or chatting while paper towels and spray bottles remain empty and locker rooms unclean. I also had a billing issue that was handled unprofessionally by the manager. I was told over the phone I could make my payment in person and the late fee would be waived, yet I was charged twice in the same month. The young woman who took my payment said only the manager could waive the fee, and when I returned, another male staff member first said it couldn’t be done, then changed his story, admitting it could but, only by the manager. I’ve seen all of these staff members on my multiple trips to gym for several months now one for over a year, so i didn’t appreciate the “new staff” excuse given by the manager instead of taking accountability. When I finally spoke with him, he refused to issue a refund or honor what his staff promised and offered no apology. He claimed he would skip my next payment due to the double charge, yet my profile still shows the next draft scheduled for this month, leaving the issue unresolved again.

When I first visited Planet Fitness, I was still living in Maine, and the Planet Fitness there was, for a lack of better words, amazing. Since March of this year I have recently staying with family in Troy, NY and I figured I would drop in to the local Planet Fitness on Hoosick st. Lets’s just say that was a mistake, the crowd seemed alright, but the place was filthy. Not to mention I have found MULTIPLE hypodermic needles in the mens room. I highly recommend you do push ups in your living room before you decide to enter this hazardous space.

Great welcoming hospitality, clean and extremely spacious making it easy to move around. I love the new equipment still haven't tried everything just yet but so far so good, and if you experience billing issues just pay attention and any questions the staff is absolutely amazing at helping you, I had an issue that was resolved with no hassle and an easy enough explanation. 💪

I agree with the comments about locker room cleanliness and will add that people are not respectful of the express circuit here; but today I am writing because I am trying to reach the front desk to see if my glasses were found last night and even though I get connected it just rings and then bounces over to the "we are not open" message. Before 8am I was automatically getting the "we are not open" message, which even though you are open 24 hours, I understood. But now (numerous times between 8 and 9am) my call is answered - put through - but then ignored and bounced. I'm extremely frustrated.

This is the worst kept planet fitness branch I have ever visited, I am reconsidering maintaining my membership. There are constantly overflowing buckets strewn around the gym because the roof leaks. The bathrooms are not regularly cleaned, and there are always 4-5 people spending 25 minutes on their phones, prohibiting others from using the equipment. I’ll be leaving as soon as a competitor opens nearby.

This is not your average planet fitness. You can wear tank tops, bring in a gallon jug of water, and you don't get kicked out for slamming weights by accident. Not to mention they allow for things like wearing weighted vests or plate carriers if you talk to them and get the OK from the manager. But they also don't put up with people acting a fool, if some annoying high school kids come in to be loud and do their cringe gym tok BS, they get kicked out pretty fast. Essentially, as long as you're respectful of the equipment and other gym goers you're just fine. Oh, not to mention the community there is awesome, if you need help with anything there feel free to ask people. Once you've been there for 2 to 3 weeks you get a sense of the regulars, a good bunch of people. I'd join this gym if you want a chill, down to earth gym experience to get you started on your path, or just some place to hit quick convenient workouts. The ONLY complaints I have is that half the treadmills wobble when you run on them and stutter, which is a little dangerous. And that the TV's break your concentration sometimes with goofy ads or ridiculous news headlines that take you out of your focus, but that's just PF's setup. Anyway, all in all, awesome gym and I HIGHLY recommend signing up if you want to get into lifting.

Please clean the ladies locker rooms more often! The toilets , sinks and floors are filthy. The locker room smells when you walk in and the soap,toilet paper and paper towels are out always. It should be checked and cleaned periodically throughout the day as the gym is busy and germy . Staff is very friendly and I enjoy working out here but the cleanliness needs to be stepped up.

I was at the gym this morning and at 5:40 I was looking to use one of the massage beds there was nobody at the front desk I waited around for 10 minutes even called the front desk nobody answered I walked into the massage bed area and the associate was lying down on it fast asleep I had to wake him up and tell him I wanted to use the massage bed. This is just another example of why planet fitness is going downhill and I will be turned in my membership immediately.
This is an addition to my first review this is 3 months later and it's 5:10 on the 25th of March and is 40 people in the gym and there's nobody staff here hydro bed and nobody's around

The staff is very friendly. However, cleanliness in this gym is absolutely non-existent. It does not matter what time of day I go, the women's locker room is disgusting and filthy, the showers in particular you can tell are NEVER cleaned. There is constantly hair and dirt and grime all over the floors and shelves and walls, even if it's 8 in the morning. You can tell these locker rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis, it has gotten to the point where I have stopped showering there because its so filthy. The numerous hand sanitizer stations spread across the gym are all always empty. I tried 4 separate ones the other day in the height of cold/flu season and every single one was empty.

Still have not fixed the water fountains and still have urine stained dividers between the urinals. Look at the bottom corners and areas were the floors meet the walls....dirt and grime. The place is very dirty and has not been fixed. I have spoken with 3 different managers (they turn over frequently) all who promised the world and do not deliver. Someone is going to get sick or an illness and this company is going to get sued if they are not careful. I am not saying this to be a nusance. Go to the facility and see for yourself. Warm stagnant water and human urnine are not conducive to good health. Fixing the water fountains and dividers in the mens room would cost less than $2,000. But they seem to be trying to save money at the expense of the people.
This is just further documentation of the issue. I hope one day a truthful person will respond with fixing the problem vs. calling me to do a song and dance on the phone.

Over a month later, and they still haven't fixed it. Checked out the Planet Fitness in Saratoga, nice cold water coming out of the fountain and the place was clean. Employees were engaged, not on their phones paying no attention to incoming customers.
Response to my note said to email them and they were concerned. I don't buy it, cause one month later, and the fountain is still producing warm water that tastes like it comes directly from the Hudson. Disappointing to see a poor excuse given. Email us!!!
I say, "Walk over 30 feet and check the water fountain!" You don't need me to show you or demonstrate.
Actions, not words. I am now using Saratoga as a site I can go to with my friend's black card. So water from the Hudson in Troy? Dirty bathrooms with urine stained dividers? I guess that is what management accepts at this gym. It is visually evident.

They haven't fixed the water fountains in over 3.5 months. Men's urinal dividers are stained with urine and the floor around the toilets are filthy. Employees are often times texting at the desk while machines are dirty and trash bins filled. Disappointing, other than the low cost of membership. Should be noted, that I have tried to address this through management and received no response. That says it all!!!

Asking for me to email a response is avoidance. Correct answer is that all issues have been corrected? What’s so difficult about just fixing the problem?

All the workers are amazing, so kind and welcoming. Although this is one of the worst planet fitnesses I’ve ever been too. Compared to the other planet fitnesses it’s embarrassing. Limited equipment, leaking roof, the black card “spa” area is absolutely not worth the black card, all the cushions are mats at this point and do absolutely nothing. Every time I go an another treadmill is broken, some days there are more broken ones then functioning ones.

I have been going to the Troy location for 4 years and it has gone down hill every year. The equipment is torn and old. They cannot keep staff. I have to go early in the morning due to our work hours and the last few months they either not open when I go at 5am or they continue ue to put signs on the door stating they don't have staff to open until 7am. Worse maintained PF in the Capital District and often hand-written signs on the door "opening at 7 today" like on Monday 1/15/24 when we got out the door at 5:45am and pulled in at 6. Odd that there were no cars in the lot but didn't think of it since all lights and TVs were on. Spent a few minutes finishing our coffee. When we walked to the front door, there was a small piece of paper on the door written in pen that you could only see a few feet away "opening at 7 today". You'd think with all of the technology of knowing what members are regularly attending in any time period, you'd send a blast out announcing changes in schedule. And yet I come here and find many posting about it. Back to the upkeep of this PF - worse in the Capital District. Dust bunnies everywhere, bathrooms and shower cleaning is at a bare minimum compared to other locations. Been a member of PF for almost 2 years but we are going to look at other gyms this week and going to pick one to switch too. Liked the concept-lived in Delmar and Glenmont was my home gym, but Troy location is just in poor health and it's obvious the owner is stringing it along.

Like many others, if I could give zero stars, I would. The process by which to address customer service and account issues is deliberately frustrating and ridiculous. In the year 2023, you have to send SNAIL MAIL to your individual club to cancel an account. You can't do it online or via the phone. And they will take your money with impunity until then. It's disgusting, and the company is putting employees in a terrible position with this policy.

Awful experience. Went to cancel my membership (because it has to be done in person). I showed up at 10am, I waited 20 minutes and there was no employees to be seen anywhere. I called the corporate number and explained the situation, I waited another 20 minutes and then left. It took the person at the corporate number from 10:20am until 1:15 pm to get ahold of someone in the store and make them cancel my membership. Fountains don’t work. Concerned about legionnaires in the water as it tastes rusty and nasty. Call oSHA?? My father has tried several times to get it fixed and they always give the runaround. One of the easy access gym near Troy. It is very close to Walmart and Aldi. They all they have great equipment and places for quick workout. The plans are like black and classic. I didn't experience a lot here, because things started off bad right away. I approached a female with a hideous nose ring and expressed an interest in signing up. She looked off to the side and opened her eyes wide, as if she was annoyed because it was time to do some work. She introduced herself as Sara. I mentioned that I had an interest in the treadmills, so she told me that her girlfriend Katie uses them because she's trying to lose weight. It made me feel like I was fat. I asked her if the other person behind the counter was her friend. She told me no, because her co-worker is old and in their 40's. I said excuse me? I'm 37 so I'm getting there. She awkwardly apologized, and told me that she is "Gen Z" so everyone seems old to her. I knew she was super immature because not only did she have the hideous nose ring, but she was disrespectful from the start. Eventually she offered me a tour of the gym, but I told her I didn't think it was for me. I was really just trying to get away from her and leave. The gym needs to hire better people, because she ruined the whole thing.
