I spoke with Rob on the phone, and got the information i needed to see if they did what i needed for my son. We came in for the initial meet up and go through the details. Rob was very informative and answered all our questions. We were very comfortable when we left and decided we would give it a go. Rob set up a workout routine for my son to do to get him game ready for baseball. My son is doing a 3 day a week workout that is made specific to him to work his muscles for pitching. We had two issues on our end with scheduling and Rob took care of it with no issues. My son says all trainers he has seen there were right there to answer any questions he had while working out. We highly recommend this place, and can't thank Rob and staff for all they do.

Rob and staff are amazing! Best trainers I have worked with! I am 1 month in and have worked with all of the trainers here. Everyone is fantastic. Before I started I met with Rob to go over goals and talk about what I was looking to get out of training with them. He set me up with a detailed plan that is both manageable and effective. For the past 8 years I have been trying to lose baby weight and havent been able to do it. I am confident I will finally do it with the program I am on. I am getting stronger and am already down 5+ the first month. They are able to track progress really well and also see nutrition so it holds you accountable. I highly recommend these guys.

Why did I give them a 5 star review because they're awesome I've been to commercial gyms before the trainers are okay but these guys really know they're stuff I went in there with I'd like to say non-typical goals of what I wanted to reshape my body & posture and they accepted it no worries. They devised a plan of how we gotta do it and attack it I've been going for about 5 months and I'm really impressed with Rob, Ian and Gerard really know their stuff. I'm sure the other trainers are awesome also. My friend has a haunted house I used to run around on stilts chasing & spooking people for a couple hours every night haven't done it in 4 years because I couldn't. Working on my core,posture & over all fitness. With all the coaching & encouragement with the program that they designed. I'm glad to say that I was back up on the stills for 3 hours for 3 nights in a row and it felt great these guys are awesome I can't say enough good things about them

I’m usually not one to leave reviews, but this place truly deserves the 5 stars. I’ve always been intimidated by the gym atmosphere and have tried personal training before and never felt truly comfortable and didn’t see much growth. The team at P&P is nothing like anything I’ve experienced before. They truly care, they listen to your concerns, and they help you with whatever your fitness goals might be. Each time I go, I can feel my body getting stronger and I’m able to go up in weights or do an extra rep or try a new skill that I would never have gotten to on my own. The community is also incredible. The members are all down to earth, realistic, and working hard towards their goals while enjoying themselves. I truly enjoyed every workout and everyone I encountered both staff and members. I can’t recommend P&P enough!!

Rob and all the trainers at Prevention and Performance are so great! My family and I have been going here for about 3 years now and have worked with almost if not all the trainers. They each are so great at tailoring exercise plans to exactly what i’m focusing on while keeping it super fun and bringing their own flair! I know i’m always in for a great workout, especially as someone who doesn’t really like going to commercial gyms but still wants to get a good lift in. I joined Prevention & Performance because I found myself over training and dealing with injuries as a result. After struggling through a ski season of aches and pains I decided to take action. I met with Rob where he carefully listened to my history, strengths and challenges. He designed a program to start by conditioning me to get to where I want to be. This made a world of difference! I thought I knew how to "warm up" and prepare my body but there was so much I was missing. Over the last 5 months I have continued to ramp up in strength, endurance and confidence. Loved it here would recommend for off season training even recovery during the season for all ages. I’m a college athlete and I play football and I would say this was one of the best trainings I had definitely prepared for the season. I have been coming to this gym for over a year now and I highly recommend it to anyone, any age. I felt lost, overwhelmed and self conscious at the local gyms, so I came here for a more personalized experience. The trainers here are all friendly and obviously knowledgeable. I never enjoyed weight lifting until I started it here with these trainers. They make sure you are lifting properly to avoid injuries. It's been a year since I've been at Prevention+ Performance so no better time to leave a review. I joined looking for a place to improve my strength and fitness for my sport while being careful not to ignore my ongoing injuries. As an adult (elite) athlete I am either sore, nursing an injury or feeling like a million bucks, depending on my game schedules. I can tell you since joining not only am I the strongest I've ever been but my recovery time has improved significantly. I've worked with every coach and they are all great, always asking how I'm feeling and if it's not that great, we adjust my program for the day and get to work. It's a really positive atmosphere and I am so grateful I found them.

I am currently in week 4 of a 12 week program and without sounding too dramatic, it has change my life! Rob and the P&P crew took the time to listen to me and design a program that is specific to my needs. Not only am I seeing results already, but I've never felt better. Not only they have great exercise routines but also helpfull to my back and neck problems.I have been to many known gyms(LA Fitness etc) but this one on one training does it for me both in shaping & toning my body and feeling energized afterwords without the sourness of my muscles .
Recommend it to esp women who dive into their menaupause years .You will understand what i mean after your first lesson.The exercise routines helped me even sleep better.I recommend it to all ages since they arrange every training program individually according to ones abilities and capacities.

Started going to Prevention & Performance Training after having very positive experiences with physical therapy after total hip replacement surgery and for a torn rotator cuff. Wanted to take that positive PT approach a step beyond and regain the level of full body fitness and strength I once had if not more. Coach Rob Ackley understood those goals right from the start and developed a twice weekly, one-on-one training program to slowly strengthen my hip and shoulder further while regaining overall baseline functional/core strength, stability, and balance, then he and the training staff turned up the heat from there toward strength and metabolic training when they saw I could handle more. Rob and all the coaches I've worked with (Mike, Ian, Gerard, and Chandler) have always been very encouraging and friendly while also holding me to high training and nutrition standards, and it has worked--in a period of 18 months am in better overall shape than I was almost 20 years ago, and have lost over 25 pounds!! Recently added a third weekly session (circuit training) which has exposed weaknesses I didn't know I still had but no problem, I know the coaches and I will work together as usual to tackle them gradually and continue progressing overall. Highly recommended!!

Prevention & Performance is a great gym with great trainers. I started coming here because of lower back, hip and knee injuries. Coach Rob created a personalized program to strengthen all my injuries and prevent others from happening. All the trainers help guide you to get to your goal and even more in a safe way! I’ve been working with Coach Ian for 4 months and he helped me reduce a lot of my pain and improve my targeted areas. The gym has a variety of one on one session packages with many trainers, times, and group classes. I highly recommend this gym to anyone that needs guidance and not knowing where to start!

This place is the real deal! I went there having suffered 10 knee surgeries on my right knee and finally had a replacement (I’m only 43) and this place got me back to a much higher functioning level. I was unable to step up and down on a 3 inch plate and just after only 10 sessions I was stepping up and down on 12 inch step. Going up and down stairs was a major problem but not anymore. I was doing a full body workout in all and my core strength improved drastically in the 10 sessions as well. They don’t waste any time and create a specific program tailored for you. I worked with Mike mainly, but everyone there is amazing! Whatever your goals are these guys will get it done!

My son has been going to Prevention and performance for almost a year and we are both super grateful for the experience he has had. When we first contacted them, my son was hesitant because he had worked with another trainer for many years before that person moved to Texas. It takes him some time to get comfortable with new people, however, Ian made that transition easy!
The workouts are varied, and evaluated on a regular basis to provide diversity and a challenge. My son has seen improvement and progress. The work he does with Ian has helped build muscle and relieve pain he was having from two leg conditions he was struggling with. It has really been a rewarding experience and he always looks forward to going.

At the end of May of this year I had been going to physical therapy for recurring lower back pain. I knew therapy would be ending but I was not confident that the pain would not return. I started searching for somewhere that would understand my lower back needs and help me strengthen my core for more long term relief. That is when I found Prevention & Performance. I started with a meet and greet with Rob. He understood my needs and was knowledgable. I committed to 1:1 training and have been working with Ian and Chandler for 7 months. That are both great. They have designed a personal program for me-addressing my goals, retraining my core and stressing proper form. They encourage me and push me to do more. Overall, my back is much better- pain free on most days! I am stronger and I am now working to build muscle. I have also managed to lose some weight along the way. In July, I added in some Circuit Training classes with Ian and Rob and more recently started attending Chandler’s Butt and Gut class- all great workouts! I am so pleased to have found Prevention & Performance and plan to continue with this gym for the long term. I highly recommend checking it out.

Ever since I joined this studio, I've learned so much about fitness and nutrition. All the coaches are super knowledgable and friendly. Every time I step into the studio, I'm constantly learning something new whether it's about my form, nutrition or general lifestyle changes. I've been training with Coach Chandler for 6 months now and our sessions have markedly improved both my physical and mental health. Before I started here I had crippling lower back pain. Since I've been training twice a week the pain has been pretty much non-existent - which I didn't even think was possible. Her workouts are the perfect combination of challenging yet attainable and she's excellent at ensuring you have proper form during your sets. She makes you feel comfortable, is a great motivator, and I always look forward to our sessions. Chandler's seriously a phenomenal trainer and I would recommend anyone to work with her for any fitness goals!!
Prior to signing up here I searched an ungodly amount of time for personal training studios/gyms in the area. I wanted to force myself out of my comfort zone to reverse being overweight, lazy, and in pain. I finally decided on Prevention & Performance and I'm so glad I did. I would chose this place a thousand times over again. Every coach I've interacted with here have all been awesome; Rob immediately made me feel welcome and comfortable from day one during the "meet & greet." I've had the opportunity to train with Mike and Rachel as well, and they were both outstanding coaches. I had a bad shoulder & lower back problems and after just 3 months of physical therapy & strength training I feel amazing!!! The atmosphere at this gym is unlike anything I've found before while working out at a larger gym on my own. The staff is so knowledgeable and works WITH you and with your goals in mind. Rachael, their nutritionist, went over my weight loss goals in detail. She asked me what foods I like to eat and found a way to incorporate all the foods I like, into a plan that really has helped me lose weight and change my mindset around food to KEEP IT OFF and to keep going! The trainers make your workouts based on your goals, they push you, but they keep it lighthearted so that every workout, not only do I feel accomplished and stronger, I HAD FUN! I could not have asked for a better place to start my fitness journey. I was always nervous of walking in to a gym, fumbling around with some weights, and risk hurting myself from my lack of knowledge. The knowledge I sought to be successful working out, I found at P&P.
I started attending the group fitness classes here with the $12 class deal they run every 3 months. These classes ended up becoming the highlight of my week. I mostly worked with Coach Rob, and man, he is the greatest. His role during class was to go over the work out, the proper forms for the exercises, and help out whilst we attempted it ourselves. He roams around like a hawk, preying on the weakness of our form, giving us pointers on making adjustments to properly perform it. He is very accommodating to your needs. If you ever have a pain or sore muscle, he will go out of his way and set you up with a stretch to ameliorate the body.
Other than the incredibly great teacher you have, you will also have incredibly great classmates. Everyone here is so nice, and we all had the same goal of being stronger and healthier people. Trust me when I say I started the classes weaker than the average American (elderly and infants included), but I had felt no judgement from those around me. And there is a camaraderie built when we all suffer from whatever merciless workout Rob has put together that week.
I started with the $12 class deal, but switched to the unlimited monthly classes when the new workout season was about to start. I went to three classes a week for three months, and saw great progress. Like I said, I wanted to learn how to workout, and after three months here, I can say that I know now. If I walked into a random gym for an upper body push, upper body pull, or a leg day workout, I'd know which stretches to do, how to perform the lifts, accessory workouts after the main lift, and stretches to finish off the workout. I cannot stress enough how integral this gym was to helping me learn skills that I hope to carry with me the rest of my life. Coach Rob was adamant about drilling proper form, where you should feel the exercise, and he goes out of his way to point out common mistakes people make. The workouts he devised were extremely well-thought out. Every week you learn something new here. And the variety of what you learn both helps you progress physically, and helps build intuition. When you learn 3 different exercises to workout the same muscle, you begin to understand the mechanics of lifting at least on a rudimentary level. By the end of the three months, Rob could show me an exercise I've never seen before, and I could do it with pretty decent form on my first attempt with no outside input (of course I always appreciate Rob's input to make sure I do it with perfect form). I can never give Rob and everyone at P&P enough gratitude for not only giving me a great knowledge base for fitness, but for helping me develop skills that could be applied when I go off learning on my own.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at this gym. I’m a 50 year old man who has been on a 2+ year weight loss quest WITHOUT surgery. Just nutrition, exercise , and some help of a doctor. So far, I’m down 138 pounds and probably added 20 years back to my life. They’ve been a big help in getting my health back.
Started using their nutrition coaching services to help me in a continued weight loss journey I’ve been on. For years of yo-yo dieting and following fads, I never learned how to eat, and Rachel really opened my eyes on what I should be doing to actually live life, not starve myself. As a 250 pound man, I was instructed by a weight loss doctor to eat 1500 calories to lose weight. Rachel taught me that I could eat almost double that in conjunction with a moderate training program, and STILL LOSE WEIGHT! It’s been a “diet” I’ve actually been able to sustain for a year and continually lose weight no matter what; vacations, holidays, parties, etc. Total life game changer that went again everything I thought I knew about diet.
Regarding training. All of their coaches; Rob, Ian, and Rachel, have all trained me on a one on one basis over the year. Always push me harder than I want, but I leave feeling great about the workout and better than when I arrived. Great instruction for someone who hasn’t worked out in years, and have been huge in keeping me focused as I’ve taken to the new “fit” lifestyle.
Did one of their group sessions as well. A lot of fun, and a surprisingly good workout.
3 years ago I couldn’t climb my stairs to bed without getting winded and taking a break. Last year I ran my first 5K in NYC in 30:30 and started SCUBA diving again after giving it up. They helped. Highly recommend.

I'm a pretty busy guy so I like to make an appointment for the gym. This gym has a specific app so I could pre schedule all my appointments and they're all on time on schedule. I get the one-on-one training instead of wasting my time and hours at the gym I have a personal trainer that gets the maximum amount of affect in the least amount of time. Ok the short winded review is if you are serious about getting in the best shape of your life go here, just do it! The long review: I have been training at Prevention and Performance with coach Rachel for about 10 weeks now and I finally feel like I have all the key components to succeed in my fitness journey. I knew that weight lifting and proper nutrition were crucial to see the type of results I wanted but I was failing on my own because I’ve never taken both seriously at the same time. It wasn’t until these past weeks of working with coach Rachel that i felt i finally have the right tools to reach my goals and in a sustainable way. First of all coach Rachel doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable or judged but she will give you the honest truth and actually wants her clients to succeed. She has been working with me on my nutrition where I’m unlearning years of bad habits and keeping me safe in my form with all my lifts. She understands my physical limitations (bad hip, lots of imbalance) and works with me so I can get stronger without me compromising my body. We work hard, boy do we work hard, but I love it! The place itself is clean, and has a very welcoming atmosphere. I was so impressed when I walked in for my first training session with Coach Rachel and the owner and a coach himself, Coach Rob, knew my name. It’s these little touch’s that I find comforting when you are walking into a gym. Especially after not training for a few years, add having had a baby 2 years ago and are feeling like you let yourself go. Luckily I felt really welcomed from my very first visit. I will also add that it’s important to know that the coaches at Prevention and Performance practice what they preach. They live this healthy lifestyle and are eager to help you on your health/fitness journey because they believe in it and not because it’s just a “job”. So if you are ready to make that lifestyle change, if you are ready to stop making excuses, can accept it’s not going to happen in 2 weeks, are willing to put in the HARD work then these are the coaches you need to help and encourage you on that journey!!

I’ve been to most classes for about maybe a month now but I have to say the two that got the best of me was Rachel’s Friday morning and robs Wednesday night glute class! Friday class you come out dripppppiing! Rachel is awesome at motivating you to keep going and pushing yourself past your “limit”. When I began my fitness journey with Rob and his team, I was in a lot of pain from sciatica and bulging discs in my lower back. I had tried everything such as a chiropractor, a pain specialist, shots, pills, you name it, nothing worked.
He didn’t treat me like a weakling, but rather as a client who he needed to get well. He pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of, and for that I thank him.

The word PREVENTION & performance stuck in my head because I have several injuries that always made me afraid to push myself. Workouts prior consisted of me not knowing what to do and being really insecure about working out and often going home with aches and pains I didn’t go to the gym with. I stumbled across P+P and it truly has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I started to train with Rob this past November and to say that it has been a successful experience and partnership would be an understatement. I had major spinal surgery last July and have had a number of hip surgeries in the past as well, so just an ordinary "personal trainer" was not what I was looking for. Rob has designed a program for me that has been mindful of my circumstances and limitations, but has pushed me at just the right speed to not only carefully recover from the surgery but also to take steps towards returning to a life in the gym as a more "normal" athlete as opposed to an injured one or someone severely limited due to past circumstances. My strength has improved as has my flexibility and balance and I have taken giant leaps forward in my recovery over the time that I've trained at Prevention and Performance.

I am very impressed with the work that Rob does at his Prevention and Performance studio. I have worked with other trainers in this area but none work as hard as Rob. He evaluates his clients on a regular basis and has a comprehensive plan for making gains and achieving goals. He keeps records of exercises, weights, reps, etc. He has a plan for each session and makes sure clients work out safely. I tore my rotator cuff and labrum in March. It didn't need surgery, just needed to be strengthened. Rob is very conscious of working with my injured shoulder and incorporates stretching and deep tissue massage to keep the healing process going. The new studio is well maintained. Rob cleans and wipes down all the equipment between clients. I also work out at a local gym. The trainers I have seen at that gym do only a fraction of what Rob does for the same money. I cannot recommend Prevention and Performance enough!!

I started training with Rob to improve my core strength. Rob performed a comprehensive evaluation of me and tailored workouts to target specific areas which needed work, including poor posture from sitting all day. Learning to do exercise with proper form has made a huge difference; Rob does not you get away with anything. My back no longer aches when I do the exercise plan Rob has designed for me.

I’ve been from gym to gym and never felt comfortable in a setting to work out other than my own home. Rob has an amazing environment with positive vibes and he’s truly so encouraging. Being an ex cross fitter he’s pushed me to get back into the swing of things getting me back into shape. Teaching me all the techniques i need to relearn. And I’m back and better than ever! I can’t wait to see the end result. He’s an amazing Trainner and coach I highly recommend the classes they are great and he has established a great community within the Prevention & Performance Training.

The best classes I have ever taken! Not only do I burn 500-600 calories per class I'm also being trained on the proper techniques and forms which a lot of instructors don't take the time out to teach. Good sized classes where everyone is in the same boat as you and I never feel intimidated by any of the moves. Rob is great and will answer any and all questions you have. Highly recommend!!

If you are looking for a place that is safe and judgement free to workout while getting whipped into the best shape and mentality of your life, look no further. Rob has been amazing from day 1 of walking into his bootcamps. He has improved my squat form, showed me how to do exercises I've never even heard of before and now has me confident enough to workout in the gym alone. Something I would have never done in my life! Rob is so knowledgeable and tells you tips in a way that doesn't make you feel embarrassed which was so important to me. I couldn't imagine going somewhere else after the results and care I've had here.

Rob is seriously the BEST TRAINER EVER! I started training with him to improve my upper body strength (since I had scrawny noodle arms LOL), and the progress I’ve made with his one on one personal training and group classes is INSANE (in the best way possible). Not only does he know what he’s talking about when it comes to fitness/nutrition, but he’s an awesome motivator. I’ve learned so much from Rob and now I never wanna go to any other trainer. In all honestly though, I experimented with other trainers and they DO NOT COMPARE ONE BIT.... Take advantage of his services before he’s a famous trainer and has to charge 100x what he does now!!! Rob is a great trainer! He helped me get in shape for my wedding and get back to working out after 2 foot surgeries. I have done both his group and personal sessions. Both are great.
