About the Club

Orthopedic Exercise is a technique that leverages an understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics to address and fix movement compensations and imbalances to improve the overall quality of movement during workouts and in everyday life. Orthopedic Exercise is used to help assess and determine the root cause of imbalances and faulty movement patterns that lead to issues with posture, balance, and total body coordination.
Once the issue or issues are identified, an Orthopedic Exercise Specialist can then develop a plan that addresses the problem through reducing tension in overactive muscles, stretching underactive muscles, and programming functional progressive exercises using dynamic movement patterns.

I started coming to Mack with a basic understanding of fitness and felt pretty comfortable going to the gym and lifting weights. Working with Mack for four months has shown me that I did not know all that I thought I did! In just a short time, he has helped me move from a 100 pound deadlift to a 195 pound deadlift. I feel stronger, faster, and much less injury prone as well! Every workout is tailored to what I need that day and what my goals are. One movement might make my shoulder feel off, but Mack is great at finding a different movement that targets the same muscle but feels natural and easy to apply power. Mack really is the best! I've noticed significant improvements in strength since working with him.

He will also be your number one cheerleader as he helps you crush your goals! My only regret is that I didn't start working out with Mack sooner!

My experience at PRIME Fitness has been amazing. I started working with Mack months ago to prepare for a 130+ mile walking pilgrimage that will require me to walk 9-14 miles per day for two weeks. While working with Mack, I have gotten so much stronger and feel totally ready for this adventure!
Mack has a well-equipped, clean and professional gym. I've never had a personal trainer so attentive to what my body can actually manage, while still pushing me to get stronger. After having some mixed experiences with trainers in years past, I quickly felt comfortable that I was safe here.
My training sessions were also super fun. I feel like my body and attitude toward fitness have been transformed!

Mack does it better than anybody! I came to Mack after years away from strength training and after a year of PT after 2 surgeries. I wanted help with a transition back to strength training and weightlifting and Mack over-delivered. Mack is simply the best!!! He is extraordinarily curious, disciplined, encouraging, fun to work with, and knowledgeable. I sought him out after plateauing training independently and in preparation for taking a short training break for a medical issue.

My first sessions were scheduled after receiving the all clear to return to full activity and over the past 4 months Mack has guided me safely through my full recovery period, navigated any flare-ups of a still healing prior injury, and has restored/upped my strength gains. I have doubled my lift loads under his watchful eye. He checks-in, listens, and will alter his session plan on the fly based on the feedback he receives. He also knows when to push and help me clear the mental hurdle.

Plus! Having never trained an athlete in my chosen sport, Mack has taken it upon himself to gain/further his knowledge on the mechanics and physical demands of the sport. Resulting in real improvement in my performance. I count myself very privileged/lucky to have the opportunity to work with him to accomplish my training goals.

My son plays multiple sports and has had numerous sport injuries over the last few years. He has struggled with getting back in shape for sports after each injury. We have tried a few other strength training programs along with physical therapy to get him back in shape so he could keep up with his team mates and every time he ended up reinjured and back to square one. When I came a cross Prime fitness I was skeptical at first because all the other programs we tried didn't help him get back to where he needed to be, but even from the first conversation with Mac I knew this would be different. Mac worked with my son to start re-building his core first which made all the difference in his recovery. My son has dropped almost all the weight gained from his injuries, he has gained back his confidence and he has built back his core, strengthened his muscles, rebuilt his balance and improved his coordination and flexibility. My son is now fully back to sports and keeping up with his teammates despite numerous serious injuries. My late 60's weren't pretty...impinged nerve in my lower spine causing back pain, plus stiffness, weakness, and pain in my right leg. I sought relief with Kere Paz and her acupuncture practice. It offered great relief. But when she recommended I see Mack to benefit from his therapeutic training, it was life changing. There was great improvement almost immediately....and steady improvement as I've conscientiously continued the exercises he taught me. Further, having moved recently, I was unable to do my daily exercises for almost 2 weeks. And I paid the price...return of the leg problems and an inexplicable severe pain in my right shoulder. I finally re-started Mack's regimen and in 2 days I feel great. He's a miracle worker.

Working with Mack was one of the best investments that I’ve done for my health, ever!
First he tested all possible limitations of my body’s movement and figured out what caused so much pain in my lower back. We solved it very fast. I learned how to work on mobility and flexibility of my joints, what should I stretch more and what should I pay attention to when doing certain exercises. Top notch strengthening trainer and coach. Mack solved my back pain / stiffness issues - I wasn’t even able to use a treadmill without wincing to now doing my first Spartan race. And somehow he still makes it the most fun workout possible. Anyone lucky enough to get a session with Mack will leave transformed! I have worked with many excellent personal trainers in my life. Mack is the best. In the beginning he took time to assess my fitness level. He then spent several weeks slowly building my strength and endurance from the inside out. He strengthened smaller muscles before going after the big ones. The result has been that I am making improvements that were not possible before.
Mack also is very mindful of limitations and injuries. He has a way of getting me to work as hard as possible without going too far. I always leave a session feeling appreciation for what my body can do.
Finally Mack is very positive and affirming. I feel like a boss when I work out with him.
It’s only been six months of work together and I have seen amazing results. I’ve lost 12 pounds and gained a bunch of muscle. I feel better and look better. I’m eager to see what the next six months will bring.

Mack is the best! I am a young athlete that started working with Mack this past year with the main goal of becoming more athletic while putting on muscle. The absolute BEST! Mack knows everything about the muscular and skeletal systems and can explain to you exactly how each exercise is affecting each muscle. He is smart, engaging and enthusiastic. Wow! What a great experience I had working with Mack. I work out a lot but have some physical limitations so wanted to find a personal trainer who knew what they were doing.

Mack Kuhr is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and inspiring to be around. He is consistent with making sure I am thoroughly warmed up in good health and stretched properly before engaging in intensive exercises. He is always focused, prepared and engaging while training and has a great variety of exercises and movements especially when modifications are necessary for higher or lower intensity.
