I've been training at this studio for a few months now, and I can honestly say it's one of the best decisions I've made for my health. The owner is not only incredibly professional and knowledgeable, but also genuinely kind and funny too...
Every session is personalized to my goals and fitness level, with a perfect balance of challenge and encouragement. The gym is clean, well-equipped, and — a completely different experience from big commercial gyms.
What really sets this place apart is the owner's passion and attention to detail. They take the time to explain movements, correct my form, and provide helpful tips on everything from nutrition to recovery. You can tell he truly care about his clients’ progress and well-being.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a more focused, supportive, and results-driven fitness experience!

Huge fan of Joe and the gym. My son has been training on his own for cross country for months and while his endurance grew his strength didn't. He worked with Joe and he was able to correct a lot of the effort he was putting in while giving him the confidence to try new exercises. My son developed his leg muscles around his knees and the strength to hold his upper body in position during the long runs. I just wish we lived closer.

Thirteen years ago, when I was in my 60’s and had a business office in Irvington, Joe Frisenda opened his Push Studio on the floor just above me.

I’ve been working out at Push three mornings a week ever since.

In 2023, I closed my business office but I still drive up from NYC’s Upper West Side to work out at Push three mornings a week.

I know myself well enough to know I don’t have the discipline to
work out on my own without the commitment to my appointments and my work at Push.
.
I also know -- because I had two tiny, fragile grandmothers who became very frail in old age -- that I need to work out. Years ago, before I met Joe, I had a bad bone density reading.

Now when I have a bone density test, the doctor is amazed by my results. I can attribute that to working at Push.

Joe is smart, interesting, funny, kind and very, very good company. The depth of his expertise is evident in the adjustments he tells me to make and in the way he answers my many questions.

He’s perceptive about when and how to take things up to the
next level of effort. I think we’re both proud when I can do
something I couldn’t do in the past.

If you’re thinking about making an appointment at Push, do it.
I mean this to be a glowing recommendation.

I've been training with Elissa at Push for over 6 years now and I can't recommend her services highly enough. She's knowledgeable, thoughtful, caring, and hands down the best personal trainer out there. As someone who's a bit intimidated by larger gyms, Push is perfect for me. The one-on-one setting is just what I need to feel comfortable and her no pressure approach actually motivates me to push myself even harder. The gym itself is clean and well-appointed and centrally located in Irvington. Overall, I've had a fantastic experience here and I highly recommend Push to anyone looking for a personal trainer.

I’ve been training at Push for several years. What makes Push a perfect fit for me is the private, one-on-one setting. It’s not a crowded gym—there are no distractions and no pressure. I’ve worked with both Joseph and Elissa over the years, and they’re phenomenal. Each brings deep knowledge, encouragement, and a real understanding of how to tailor workouts to your specific needs and goals.

Joseph has an extraordinary knowledge of the physical science behind improving one’s overall health and fitness level. His easy going good nature accompanied with his encouragement has helped me obtain an incredible level of fitness that I previously thought not possible for a person my age. He meets his clients where they are at and structures programs that fit their particular needs.
I am well into almost two decades of working together.

I have trained with Joseph on and off for ages and it’s rare to find an environment where you are actually pumped to get a workout in.
I always get such a better session when I am training with Joseph as opposed to getting sloppy on my own.
Big big fan of PUSH!

I realized as a woman of a certain age that it was vital to get weight training into my life but I was never successful at making myself do it, even in a gym. I found Joseph and Push Training and it's been great. 45 minute one-to-one sessions that are a little different each time. Sometimes the other trainer is working one-to-one with another client but there are never more than four people in the space at a time. It's a relaxed, friendly atmosphere tailored to what your specific needs are. So glad I found Push Training!

I am a client who has been training here for 12 years: highly recommended - this is a judgment-free zone, with trainers that are flexible and responsive to your individual needs. I was intimidated for about 30 seconds until I realized how tailored the approach is. Health benefits : lost weight, gained muscle and confidence, improved mental health (serious improvement in anxiety!). Joseph and Elissa really "push" to make you your best self ! Just sign up for the three-session package to start and see how good you feel. My only suggestion for improvement would be for them to accommodate my whining a little more (ha!)

Highly recommend! Joseph has been my personal trainer for past ten years in his light and airy studio in Irvington. Tailored program including core strengthening, balance, weights, muscle development, etc. “Pushes” you to do the work. Results follow. Very satisfied.

Every session goes by quickly. A winning personality and observable results are a big reason why I keep coming back.

Amazing individualized personal training in a well-appointed space that is airy and light-filled. There is one female and one male trainer. You will never be training with more than one other client in the studio at a time. It is clear that both trainers can work with a wide variety of ages, fitness levels, and personalities and also that they are well-qualified to do so. Excellent in every way.
