Dave is a dream personal trainer. He is professional yet personable, and *very* good at what he does. I got the results I wanted, and also enjoyed the process.
I’ve worked with him for 6 months before my wedding. During that time, I trained with him for about two times a week (except for some busy weeks) and trained by myself once a week. I came in with no experience in weight lifting, and at the end of 6 months, I can do almost body-weight barbell squats, became familiar and confident in many weight exercises (e.g., bench press, overhead press). I also got into a nice shape for my wedding dress.
Dave was nonjudgmental about my goal (which was mainly aesthetics ;) ), and designed the program towards the goal in the least painful and healthy way. Working with him, I further got interested in fitness, learned much more about diet. There is much fitness information out there (e.g., I watched some Youtube fitness influencers), and it was very helpful to vet such such information with a real expert, Dave.
I wasn’t looking for barbell training (simply was looking for a personal trainer nearby), but I’m glad that I get to experience this! Compared to other fitness programs I’ve experienced (e.g., running, swimming, classes like yoga, solid core, orange theory, Barry’s), this was *much* more effective at building muscles. My body composition has changed to have more muscles all around.
The sessions also felt a bit like mini therapy session, as Dave often asked about how I’m doing and let me talk through struggles in life. I get to know his clients as well, as he has formed a nice community. I highly recommend him. :)

I’ve trained with over a year for Dave and I’m about twice as strong, can run more than twice as far, and feel 20% younger. And that’s while doing things Dave Hates - not always sleeping well, not eating my proteins, and never dressing up for Halloween. Now imagine how much stronger I’ll be when I fix those things next year.

My wife and I (both over 60) trained with Dave for several rewarding years before COVID. Thoughtful, energetic, easy to work with, patient with new weightlifters, safety-conscious and phenomenally knowledgeable about the human body and weightlifting, Dave is a wonderful trainer and a pleasure to spend time with. He taught us how to lift with good form, adapted his program as we went to solve for our developing needs and interests, responded with well-thought-out answers to all our questions (and we had a lot of them), guided us through plateaus and setbacks, and got more out of us than we had hoped for when we began (without the injuries we had feared). We were astonished with some of the numbers we put up. Dave impressed us so much that we had each of our children train with him as well so that they would have proper lifting form as a life skill.

Dave changed my life through PT.
Through a thoughtful and methodical program, he showed me strength I didn’t know I had, both physically and mentally. I learned how to care for my body in a new way and push boundaries in what I could accomplish physically and in my personal and businesses lives. So I am the type of person that is rarely motivated enough to leave a review for my most favorite restaurants or experiences (def something I wanna change) but since Dave is one of the few people that has had such an incredible impact on my life both physically and mentally, I have to say something. I worked out with Dave for about 18 months and went from a very skinny kid most of my life to a physique that I am pretty proud of - I can def get better but pretty happy with where I am. Dave’s technique is methodical and results oriented. Even if you don’t see it in the mirror, the numbers do the talking and boy is that a great motivator. I went from benching just the bar to 185lbs, squatting 65lbs to 245lbs, deadlifting from 105 to 300lbs, and more.
Just for reference, prior to Dave, I had tried a trainer for 9 months and had one of those experiences that perhaps many can relate to - they have you run around the gym for an hour 4 times a week and you are really tired at the end and feel like you did a lot but don’t really see much progress after even months. I am sure part of that was my fault with my diet not being optimal (since that is 80% of the equation) but I do have to give Dave credit for really helping me get straightened out on that front too.
Working out has been a game changer for my mental health too! Dave helps you start enjoying going to the gym, keep your numbers going up, and pushing your limits.

I started working with Dave about 6 years ago (I am now 86). My previous experience with trainers had not been successful as I would always get pushed too hard and end up hurt. I had a series of spinal compression fractures and my son looked for someone experienced with training older people. I travel to see Dave regularly even though it's a 2 1/2 hour trip. He does not let you move unless you are in the correct position: he is always observing. I have never gotten hurt! I am now dead lifting 122 lbs. Our aim is to make slow and steady progress. He is a delight to work with, both for his observational skills and the way he makes it fun. I never feel too pushed but always feel challenged. I would highly recommend him for seniors: he is outstanding at assessing where you are and how far to push.

Dave is a terrific coach and working with him has been an absolute pleasure. He is extremely knowledgeable about strength sports and his expertise shows in how detail-oriented he is when it comes to coaching—but, he is also able to explain complicated movements clearly, knows cues that work for each person, and approaches each session with warmth and humor. Under Dave's guidance I went from lifting a barbell to deadlifting 230 pounds in a little over a year. Dave has an innate sense of knowing when I hadn't reached my limits and when to push, which was almost all of the time much greater than my own self-imposed limits. Because of this, I not only gained physical strength, but mental strength and confidence. Dave truly cares for his clients and was always there to listen when I needed advice, even with matters that did not relate to physical fitness. I've had a lot of coaches through the years as a former athlete, and I can say with 100% confidence that Dave is one of the best coaches I've worked with. Coaches like Dave are few and far between, so I am incredibly grateful to have worked with him.

Dave is a fantastic trainer and great guy. He helped me break through decade-long plateaus across my major lifts (bench, squat, deadlift) and helped get me in the best shape of my life. He's also supportive beyond just physical health, regularly helping me think through tough emotional and mental events and understanding that physical, mental and emotional health are intimately connected. Dave is an outstanding weightlifting coach who delivered me concrete results in excess of my expectations. He got me much stronger and leaner than I was able to get following the Starting Strength method on my own. I went from struggling with very basic lifts to squatting 360 and deadlifting 450 while lean. These are not crazy lifts for some weightlifters, but for a nearly 40 year old with two kids, not much free time, and no history of serious athletic training, I felt great about the outcome. I’d recommend him to anyone wanting to get stronger or look better.
