I tried my first class today with Honora. It was amazeballs! She is so encouraging and positive. A great music selection with a bunch of bangers! At one point I was so in the flow I felt like we were one collective body rowing in motion, physically, emotionally and spiritual. My mate Gandoplh likened our group to the PoweRangers, supa cool individually but once they come together they are unstoppable! Thank you Honora, I will never forget our journey together. My mate Sunshine summed it up best, Honora started as a staff member, moved to an instructor, then sensei and ultimately a friend.

As my mate Pamba says there are no shortcuts to fitness!

I’m about to take my final class here. Been going for about 10 months. I’ve voiced all these complaints with them directly and clearly owners do not care (which is why the classes are never full).

They’re frequently out of free water or towels

They close at 1 or 1:15 on weekends instead of having more convenient later weekend classes.

They refuse to let us row outside on their patio. God forbid they’d have to lift a finger moving rowers a few feet.

There’s no locker room. You change clothes in a small bathroom with a tiny bench. Area by the lockers is very cramped.

It’s too hot in the rowing room and they have claimed the thermostat is not working properly.

The music 80% of the time sucks and it’s too dark in there

It’s hard to see what the instructor wants us to do when we’re off this rower. There’s no monitoring of our form when we’re rowing or lifting weights to make sure we don’t injure ourselves.

I’m so done. It’s unfortunate there aren’t alternative places in Manhattan where rowing wouldn’t feel like sheer misery.

Signed up for my first ever class (7am with Josue) and the instructor no-showed. Was impressed that the admin called me the evening before to see if I had questions and to suggest I arrive 10 min early so the instructor could help me get set up on the machine. Showed up at 6:50am on the dot and the instructor wasn’t there yet. Waited until 7:10 when it became clear he wasn’t showing up and there wasn’t going to be a sub. The girl at the front desk was nice and apologetic and gave everyone class credits. Personally I would’ve preferred my hour of sleep back.

Row House is great. I really enjoy my weekly class and the instructors are awesome and know how to motivate! I especially enjoy Eddie’s Sunday classes the way he throws in the friendly competition between odds and evens and letting us suggest playlists. He makes the classes fun.

This used to be a fantastic workout but they seemed to either get new management or management made drastic cuts. There’s now only 1 studio now, on a corner of NYC that’s rapidly becoming dangerous and problematic, and they seemed to cut their best instructors.

Especially if you have background in rowing you’re going to hate this place. Really a shame because this used to have a strong community.

I signed up in January for a buy-a-month-a-month free deal. I was super excited, but unfortunately, it didn't hold up. Immediately upon entering, there's no one at the front desk to greet you or describe the workout. This was my first time, so I showed up early as instructed but ended up just sitting there alone. The workout was good, and the instructor was talented. Unfortunately, my membership has been wasted due to the times of classes offered. I work 9-5 and usually get home after six, and sadly, they don't provide classes before 7 am or past 6:30. They also don't offer an easy way to cancel in the app. Really disappointing.

BE VERY CAREFUL with Row House. I was sold a promo deal after my free trial at the row house in the summer. In November they start to charge my card hundreds of dollars. I figured this was a mistake and contacted them. They have apparently hired a new GM who I feel like might be the real problem cause I have never really had issues there in the past. He was hostile and just threw insults instead of solving the problem or letting me speak. I was shocked I have never been met with such trashy attitude from a gym before. Perhaps he was drunk cause he was slurring his words. So I ended the call and try to reach someone else to understand these charges. I was told I had agreed upon a contract in the summer which I had never seen and there was no signature on it. I pointed this out but received no response. They gave me no logical explanation other than that they aren't willing to refund the money they took NOW for classes I took AND paid months ago. Since they have no logical or legal basis I feel like I will win this dispute but it's so disappointing. I can't believe row house is FRAUD. I would say be very careful and if you purchased any classes or memberships from them in the past block your card. I don't recommend this business at all now even though it may have been good in the past.

I requested that my membership be paused weeks ago and was told I would get a follow up email as I made the request in person. It was taken multiple attempts to get the membership cancelled, with the responsibility on me to chase down management. I was also charged for a month I am going to struggle to use. A disappointing end to a relationship with a company that came highly recommended by a friend. Save yourself the hassle and row at the gym.

I LOVE THIS GYM!!!!!! I went to the 23rd Street NYC location today. Anna is the sweetest!!! And Josua is a very good, intuitive, talented trainer. The vibe in the class was also very positive.

I had no preconceived notion of whether I would like the class - cause I’ve been to plenty that were a waste of time.

Row House is the shizzle!! i can’t recommend it enuf. No judgements or expectations on their behalf. They just want you to enjoy your time there. Whaaaaat?

I tried to cancel a membership after the initial offer and discovered it couldn’t be cancelled online. I then called to cancel and they didn’t get back to me in time enough for it to be cancelled before I got charged. They then told me I would get refunded as I wasn’t even going to be in the country for the month to use it. This was over 7 months ago. The workouts were fine but this experience of trying to get refunded has been a HUGE pain. I don’t even think I’m going to get the $249 back that I was promised

I’ve visited this location multiple times when I work nearby and it’s not ideal unless I’m desperate for a workout. Firstly, the front staff are aloof when you have questions. They don’t manage the women’s locker room well as the lockers were dirty and had hair, toilets uncleaned. It seems like the location is older and it reflects heavily.

Otherwise, plus points for the instructor I took classes with so far. Coach Josue Nunez gets a 5 star. His classes ensure I feel the burn and he’s extremely attentive to the clients. There also seems to be a new courtyard now, so I hope the location makes changes to continue improving the site as I’d love nothing more than to give it better ratings!

I've been going to this location on and off for a few months now and really love it. Rowing is a CHALLENGE, but these classes are friendly to people of most fitness levels (including myself, someone who is enthusiastic but not especially fit). In my classes, I've seen people of all sizes and ages participate.

The instructors have all been great. They will take time to go over the machine and how to row one-on-one if you get to class early and let them know you need that help. They also row with you which helps you keep the pace.

Most recently, I've been taking classes with Edwin. He might have the best music mixes - stuff with the right energy to keep you going even when you're tired. He has a really great attitude, is always smiling and pushing you to go hard. Totally nice guy.

The class I take most is their signature sculpt - this is a class where you row for about 15 mins, then do some body weight exercises for 5(ish) mins off the machine, then back for another 10-15 mins of rowing, then another 5(ish) min break with hand weights, and then wrap up with a distance or speed piece for the last 3-5 mins. There's also a quick warm up/cool down. It's great for me, who needs those breaks off the machine to catch my breath and who wants to work different areas of my body.

The facility is really nice and clean. The bathrooms have small shower stalls. There is an outdoor area to hang out before classes. And the room in which the class takes place is nice - comfortably large and with lights that sometimes they dim so you can focus on yourself and not on folks around you.

They also send out a lot of emails with sales that I appreciate. Definitely worth trying if you want to see if it's a good fit for you. I also recommend trying different instructors because they each have a different energy/pace/music mix and I think if one doesn't fit your vibe, another will.

These classes are no joke. You will sweat. Going semi-regularly, I have seen some difference in my leg and arm definition.

After about a month of workouts, I can finally rate this gym a solid 4. Its challenging but you will get a great workout. I really like Tim's class.

However, here are a few things to be aware of:

1) Since the classes are only 45 minutes they don't spend a lot of time on warmups & stretching. You'll need to do that on your own before class.

2) This gym NEEDS a real beginner class. Proper rowing technique requires some instruction and they really don't spend enough time on rowing form here. I almost hurt myself because I wasn't rowing correctly.

3)If you are a beginner, DO NOT take the "Full Row" class. Its difficult and will be hard to follow if you've never rowed before.

The staff are friendly. Trainer was energetic and helpful. I wish I could give them 5 stars, but rowing isn’t for me. I’d recommend it to people who’ve done other rowing classes before. The studio is small and intimate. They check for vaccination record and they have wipes to wipe down equipments. I tried to go here using a Class Pass that my wife booked. Something came up and I went in her place. The Row House refused to let me substitute in although Class Pass' policy allows it.

Things happen and every other fitness studio we have been to has been friendly and accommodating. Not the Row House. They wanted to charge me for the class even though they had a free class promo going on. The Row House doesn't care about treating customers well in order to grow their business. I would suggest going somewhere else simply for a better customer experience.

LOVE THIS WORKOUT. It fixed my shoulder pain after two workouts. I’ve been seeing a physical therapist for months with little result. Been working out here since fall 2018. All coaches are great. No such thing as a class that is too crowded. A full class is actually a good thing for the energy. You still get individual coaching as needed during the class. 45 minutes of a hard, efficient, effective workout. Oh and it’s not just rowing the entire time, at least not every class. There are different class types.

Nice facilities too. One shower and toilet stall in the men’s room. Secure lockers and plastic bags and sweat towel provided. Nice patio out back for general use.

The monthly challenges they do every now and then make things more fun.

I started rowing regularly in November and I am in love. It is hard to find a cardio workout that has a strength component included in its primary movement and the erg can give you both. I started coming to Row House back in May 2018 (using Class Pass to try it out) and I loved it and am now a weekly regular !! I had a feeling I would like it because I was looking for a workout that would give me my cardio while adding other elements. My personal routine outside of Row House consists of circuit-type workouts in my small apartment gym so this place definitely gives me that extra intensity that I look for each week!

Some highlights:
- the staff and instructors are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable (My first class was with Gretchen who was very thorough in explaining proper form and how the class worked)
- any questions I asked about post-rowing soreness or form were thoroughly answered
- My favorite class is the "Body" class which has 2 non-rowing sections with dumbbells. I love taking these with Bethany who is really energetic and motivating!
- A new fav is the "Power" class which I've only taken once but it was the most intense workout (more HIIT circuits breaking up the rowing segments) and I felt so great (and exhausted) afterwards!
- The Chelsea location is extremely convenient and the facility (+ outdoor patio) is nice and well-maintained.

Highly recommend :)

As a former rower, I really enjoyed being back on the erg. I liked the community and the ability to run workouts with a team! So much better than erging at the gym alone!! Some suggestions: I think the class would be even better if you pumped up the music a bit. Make it louder!! It’s easier to match the beat if you can hear it. Also, I realize that this is a trendy version of crew, and Bethany was a super instructor, but my favorite part of the class was when she came over to my erg and pushed me to lower my split. The positivity is great, but that classic coxswain voice was even better! More of that in the class would really make it the perfect workout. I’ll be back!!

Jordan and the other front desk employees always make me feel like I am a part of a team/club. Recently I had a record breaking moment thanks to my instructor Gretchen. She noticed the adjustment of my feet during a class and corrected them. Instantly I felt more powerful and in control ( I am competitive with my progress) My average power significantly increased! Row House is the perfect place for someone who wants to still feel that team sport environment while working out. Every coach builds that team mentality, that we're all in it together, the struggle and the push. The coaches all have their own styles, and they change up their own classes over time to keep things fresh, and I've loved every class. The coaches are also very engaged, working on the erg with you and also walking around providing positive reinforcement and correction on form.

You can always get better at rowing so your job is never done, it never becomes an easy workout. It's a challenge each time you walk in the door.

I only come here through class pass so can't comment much on membership service. Also haven't used their bathroom yet so can't comment on that either. The equipment is kept clean and organized, and the staff is very welcoming. Really enjoyed Bethany and Max's classes.

Amazing workout!! Did the free class promotion and was told to do the full body 45. This is a great workout for all skill levels and if your trying to shed some unwanted weight this is the perfect place for you. Instructor was incredible and the staff are super friendly and cool. Would highly recommend this gym if you are looking to build strength and get lean.

A spotless rowing gym with great instructors and welcoming staff. Great HIIT style rowing workouts. Only downside is it's insanely expensive so I only go through ClassPass.

The instructors were friendly and welcoming to me as a newcomer. The front desk associates worked with my new job schedule to offer me the best membership option. I especially liked that they were very responsive on email. The instructors, Spencer and Gretchen were so enthusiastic about their class. I loved the time they took to really explain and meet me at my level. Gretchen showed me a video and even gave me a one on one before the class began to improve my strokes. Bill, Ben, Kierra and Caitlyn were so helpful and paved the way for this pleasant experience over the phone and email. I love that there are head bands and hair things on the front desk! Handy and helpful! I'm looking forward to the next few weeks at Row House. =)

Row house is Great! I like that it's something different, a good workout and really low impact. I have herniated discs in lower my back so I have to choose my cardio wisely and they helped with my form and made sure I didn't hurt myself. I took the full-body cardio class- you warm up with a hard ride, then get off the machine for some traditional circuit work with squats, lunges, planks, etc... for about 10-15 minutes... then blow out the class with some intense intervals on the machine- It was very perfect!
