Title: Great Sign-Up, but Billing and Collections Nightmare

I joined Snap Fitness Tarrytown in December 2024. Eric was great, so I gave it a chance—even though coworkers and others warned me about billing problems and said the gym “seemed off.”

I stopped attending due to a high-risk pregnancy and informed them my card was stolen (replaced via Chase). Somehow, they still charged my account, likely using old routing info.

When I tried to check my account, pay balances, and reactivate, I got vague, dismissive, and rude responses like:

“Your account was sent to collections in February for non-payment.”

“We sent many emails…no record of your card being compromised.”

They ignored my questions about charges in June and July of 2025, account history, collection details, and even who was handling my case. Eventually, they gave the collection agency info—but even the agency was confused why I was being charged nearly $400 when my monthly membership was ~$40, especially if it supposedly went to collections after two months.

I will be disputing these charges as fraudulent, since my account was sent to collections in February 2025—how and why was I billed in June and July 2025?

Snap Fitness’ billing and customer service are unprofessional, evasive, and frustrating. If you join, get everything in writing and watch your statements carefully.

I have to change my review here. At first I gave this gym 5 stars, because it is a nice gym.
But then we became one more of their scam victims.
They're very quick to enroll you and take your money, but when you need to cancel, they disappear from the face of the earth and continue to charge you.
Customer service is non-existent. Nobody is ever at the front desk. Their phone number ALWAYS lead to voicemails and emails not sure if they're even real. There are plenty of other good gyms out there. This one is just not worth the headache.

TLDR; Check your accounts after cancelling to make sure they aren't continuing to charge!!

My wife and I were a happy customers while we lived in the area and used the gym.

However, we both cancelled our accounts this summer before moving away.

My wife started getting charged again in September after canceling in July. They've refunded but charged again in October.

They've been unresponsive and has become a headache. Its very sketchy that after not collecting payment following cancellation it just started up again.

This gym overcharges you you pay 69$ every month for less features you’d get at a cheaper gym 70$ basically and you can’t even bring a guest if you do then you’re charged an extra 20$ making you pay 90$ a month which is not worth it for an already overplayed overrated gym

Great gym. They have a good amount of machines to use. Everything is in good repair: the one time I noticed something was out of order, it was fixed quite quickly.

It's a good place for you if you don't need things like a pool or sauna, and just want to work out. 24 hour access is an enormous plus, which I greatly prefer to the frill "amenities" of larger gyms. They had a boxing ring for a while, which I'm glad they got rid of to add more weights. Despite that, it was a good indicator of trying different things for their customers.

They do have showers, but it might be difficult during busier hours as the showers are coupled with some of the bathrooms. Still, nice to have as a lot of smaller gyms might not have them at all.

I go early in the morning and it isn't too busy. There's a usual crowd of people and everyone goes about their business in an amicable and polite way. I don't have a lot of time, but I've noticed people seem to know and talk to one another, so you might find a gym buddy here. Sometimes "people watching" their interactions is amusing between sets.

I like the gym, it's clean and had a good variety of equipment. It 's small though so it gets packed in the evenings. Even with the discount I was getting, it was too pricey for me to justify continuing my membership.

This place NEEDS dehumidifiers. It’s steamy everywhere and on everything and all the floors, windows and bathrooms. Sometimes a little crowded except after 8 ish after work. Not super nice just a gym with flexible hours.

After 1.5 years being a member , I'm glad I chose this this gym and location. Cleanliness is always a plus. Gym is cleaned top to bottom daily. Gym equipment is plentiful and in excellent working condition. Never is it too crowded where you feel you have to wait for a machine .The Gym Owners Erick and Melissa are always on top of making the gym experience a great one. Erick and Melissa put their members first here and are very accommodating. If any equipment ever breaks or is worn ,owners are always quick to replace it. This gym is always being updated with new equipment. I would recommend this gym to ANY AND EVERYONE looking to improve their lifestyle. Great place

Awesome place to workout alone or with the family! Over the years, I’ve been a member of several gyms in Westchester, and this one is my FAVORITE because it’s the only one that has a couple of Peloton bikes! (there are only 2 so don’t too many of you come at once and make me wait!) It may be smaller than some other gyms but is just as well-equipped; it meets the different needs of everyone in our family. Besides being open 24 hours, it is ultra clean, especially the bathrooms/showers. I often see a cleaning crew there, plus there are plenty of wipes for machines, etc.

I was working in New York and visited Snap, nice gym but I'd never recommend them. Once they get your card info, they won't stop billing. I went and dropped off my card and they said no problem, the next month I emailed them with no response. It's 6 months later, I've disputed the charges with AMEX and blocked them, but they keep trying every month

Review would have been much higher but they were too concerned with taking advantage of me over $90. Background is I only gave 3 weeks cancelations notice instead of 30 days resulting in me having to pay for a full extra month. This could have easily been canceled on their end just the owners greed not to fulfill it. Its a shame too because I thought they were better than this.

At Snap Fitness of Tarrytown, the staff is very friendly, and the machines are maintained well. The vending machine is useful and offers a good selection of drinks. Lastly, the gym is open 24 hours, so I can come whenever I want. I don’t need to necessarily adjust my schedule to the gym hours because it’s open all day, every day!

They are horrible people, my contract ended 12/31/20, and not only are they saying due to covid19 they are allowed to bill me for an additional 6 months. They will not work with any of there members to make it easier for them during these times. And of course this is after last month when they called me saying that would honor the contract and I would not be billed after December 2020. DO NOT TRUST THEM. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS GYM.

This place is horrible! The owner is a big liar! I was there with my 2 friends to sign up the memberships. I know that some place charged cancellation fee, so I asked them if they do the same thing before We signed up. They said there’s no cancellation fee! Today I was there try to cancel memberships for three of us, they told me there was 150 cancellation fee for each of us! Also we need to inform them 30 days ahead! In another word, I have to pay 450plus 3 months memberships if I want to cancel! This is unbelievable! !!! If you don’t want to take any risk,please go to another place!This is very ridiculous!!

The owner will lie and never take any responsibility for anything! He lies about the fact that you can freeze a month if your out of the country or injured and cant make it to the gym. He will lie about getting new equipment. He pays people to write comments because there are so many issues constantly being brought up by members. He was even violent and physically threatened a member, even though the member was just stating his concerns with the lack of equipment. Honest super over priced, its $60 a month for less equity then NYSC or Planet fitness. Theres another new gym in tarrytown on Central Ave that is much much better. The owner will promise free work outs with an old lady who knows nothing about lifting and wont answer he phone to make the appointments. When you leave a message she never gets back to you. Seriously do not known how he is still in business. Hopefully this will help anyone looking to sign up! Do not do it to yourselves. TRUST ME.

The gym is nice enough but very small. With only 2 squat racks it’s always crowded with gym bros and not the friendliest environment for women. I wish they could expand into the downstairs so there was a larger weights section. I may just switch us over to the YMCA so that we at least get pool access for such a high membership cost.

Great place to work out. But very disappointed with the training of the staff. When I first sign up for the month to month membership, with paying of 3 months fees up front, the staff told me that i only have to give them a week notice when discontinuing the membership. When I went there a week ahead to cancel the membership, she told me once again that i will be refunded the money for next month. Appearently, I didn't . So I called and she said that she will ask her boss about it but never did. And I call back again and the other staff told me that it was a 30 day policy and refused to refund me the money. Very disappointed with the staff's lack of knowledge for it's own store policy. Paid over $300 overall for only 3 months and a couples days of workout. Ridiculous .
