I was really considering transitioning from Calisthenics to powerlifting, however I had no clue on how to get started. I spoke with the manager, Alan, he was extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of training. He took the time to help me go over a new workout plan. He even helped me create a new diet plan and gave me solid advice on how often I should train and rest. I highly recommend SNS STRENGTH. It’s a great atmosphere. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

I joined this gym back in March of 2024 and left at the beginning of January of this year. While the gym does have its perks like being open 24 hours, I can honestly say it’s not worth the price point.
A good handful of the bodybuilding accessory machines, such as the cable column and leg extensions, are lackluster in quality. In my time there, some machines have broken and been out of commission every 2-3 weeks, which sucks for a gym that promotes having great equipment.
This gym was highly forgotten about after the opening of the Bushwick location. You would think that with the price tag that this gym has, that the administration would reinvest the money back into both gyms and not just 1. Instead of reinvesting money into this gym, the administration fell behind on the overall maintenance of the gym and even removed useful machines, such as the hip thrust machine, all while promising new ones which were never provided.
Accessory machines aside, the combo racks in this gym could use some improvement, as I found myself having to use the gym’s sandbags to keep them down and stable. Not only that, but at times the racks were crooked so if I were to bench or squat, the barbell would be crooked and not straight, despite attempts to straighten it out.

I was a member when this place first opened in 2020 and left after a year due to lack of equipment and hygiene. Let alone the people that were in it. Never expected to have the experience of getting nasty looks for playing Hip Hop/Rap in this gym. If it wasn’t for how sensitive the people in this gym are, something would have been said earlier. Nothing but grown men with sensitive egos. I left and came back 4 years later with the expectations of improvements. I found dirtier equipment, Equipment that hasn’t been managed, Water filters that haven’t been changed in about a year (and trust me it wasn’t. I had to constantly bring my own water). Urine all over the seats and floors (most of the members are adults which is strange to say that some need potty training). You can’t even have a proper leg workout. Machines are scattered between the Williamsburg and Bushwick location, kid you not, I had to go from one gym to the next to finish a training session. And the members of the gym… I thought it was a suppose to be a gym, not a high school. After 4 years things remained the same, maybe a tad worse. Glad a majority of my friends left. So did I. Never coming back. There’s better gyms out there for a better price. Also, saying getting reviewed bombed by those who got kicked out? Negative. Not once was a rule broken. I just left because the place sucked.

The “community” they built is all cool until there’s a difference in opinion, management is terrible and rude, equipment is minimal and what they do have is pretty old and gross.
The previous 4, 5 star reviews all relatively appeared at the same time as that’s the “community” trying to save face. These gripes the other members mentioned recently is mainly not to face confrontation with staff as knowing them, they’d find anyway to kick you out as the higher ups consistently and apparently only check the cameras around the time people they don’t like show up to nitpick and have a reason to kick them out.
In sum, gym is alright, staff has an ego and the “community” sway to whatever the owner says and finally, 140 a month is insane for a glorified run down warehouse.
Do better.

This gym isn’t worth 140. They have virtually no accessories machines. They had a problem with the temperature for the 2 years I’ve been here. It is either way too hot or way too cold durning the winter and summers. Even in the fall it would sometimes randomly be 80 at 10pm(I have pictures btw). They had a problem with someone leaving feces on the toilet rim that wouldn’t be clean for days for the 2 years I was a member so you can imagine the actual cleanliness of the gym. Even the equipment is pretty bad they got a cable machine that is always breaking, the deadlift platforms that are always crooked and sometimes the platforms will even poke up and out. I also have photos to show it poking up and how it looks after one of my friends saw and push it back down just Incase they say I’m making this up, as well as a picture of the temperature the day and time it was hot in there. Also the community and management is terrible. If I can write everything that I went through at this gym it would be like 5 pages long. They need to do better!!!! This gym is terrible!!!

after a long tenure with the gym I can say that I haven’t had the best experience here. There used to be a community which was once together but turned into a negativity filled space. mechanical/heating issues plagued the gym from time to time which was never fun to deal with but people dealt with it.
Disappointed nonetheless.

Ngl equipment is mid, space is mid, price is outrageous and it has a weird smell. Might as well get a blink, planet fitness and LA membership all at once if you want to waste money. I won’t be back…

This gym is an absolute disappointment. I've been there multiple times on day passes, trying not to judge it based on what could be a bad day. The conditions are subpar at best. During the winter, the place is freezing cold as if they couldn't pay the bill (but charge an arm and leg for day pass as well as membership). They don't seem to have a janitorial staff or any competent staff that can clean up a facility, so you can expect the place to be filthy. I see they claim to have a janitorial staff member now but based on what I'm seeing, I highly doubt that. For a so-called powerlifting gym, you’d think they’d at least ensure the deadlift platforms and combo racks are set up correctly, but apparently, attention to detail isn’t a priority. The equipment is honestly some of the worst I've lifted on. There's literal holes in the ground where you're supposed to lift. I literally built better equipment at home. At $140 a month, I expected much better. I won't be going back ever and I don't recommend anyone go back to that place.

The gym is reminiscent of dog feces. I've been a member for 2 years and quite frankly, i would have been better off buying internet swimming lessons for the same amount of money that I've paid for these substandard conditions. Every winter there is an extreme cold, for the longest, there was no janitorial staff so you would still see fecal stains on the toilet and urination on the bathroom floors sometimes. For a powerlift gym, one would think that the gym would at least take its time to make sure that the deadlift platforms and combo racks are aligned properly, but I guess you get what you pay for at $140 monthly

UPDATE: I received an apology email and a make good offer from one of the managers. I did not take them up on it since by the time I received that email I had already found a better option for my needs. (Added a star for the apology email.)
I visited hoping to get a gym tour but since it is app access only I realized I made a mistake and then booked a tour via their website. I showed up a few minutes early expecting someone to be waiting or at least by the door to open it when I arrived, but nope. I waited for a full 20 minutes with no one coming out to get me, no email telling me the person was running late, and no phone number to call (emailed about 5 minutes into my wait). If the owner is reading, really recommend providing more information on the booking email about what someone can expect or do once they arrive.

I stop going to gym since Covid started and the gym that I went closed after that. I was looking for 24hours gym in my neighborhood and I found this place. They have pretty much most equipment I want and the one they don't have I just have to find the way to get a replacement exercise by using the equipment they have which is I have no problem about it. Mostly this gym focusing extremely heavy lifting weight that regular gym doesn't have, and I like it. Everyone seems to be very friendly, and I feel free to do my exercises.

I’ve been a member of SNS since moving to New York and I absolutely love it. I’ve been working out for years and progressing slowly but surely, but I recently decided to double down, get structured, and focus on getting strong. Joining SNS was a 10/10 decision on that journey.
I count myself a beginner, and so joining felt a little intimidating at first. I quickly learned that the gym is full of folks who are incredibly strong, and super warm and friendly; there’s an awesome community of regulars who are so inspiring to see train and the energy is always 10/10 at the gym.
Just working out at SNS, I learned so much from osmosis and seeing how others lift, but the training staff is also stellar. I recently started taking sessions with coach Evie and I can’t recommend her enough: super professional, super easy to schedule and work out with, and my training is a million times better now.
Some other features about SNS I appreciate: the gym isn’t huge, which I actually prefer in a gym, and it never feels cramped; there’s always enough racks/space when I go. It’s also open 24/7 which is perfect for when I’d rather get an early morning or late night workout in.

I joined SNS over the summer and it's been great. I've been to plenty of other gyms in the past but this is the first time that I've felt like my needs are being met.
To be honest, I was a little intimidated at first but everyone was so kind and supportive and made me feel like I was an equal member. I also purchased a training package with Evie who was kind, funny, supportive, and knowledgeable. She helped turbo charge my fitness journey taylored just for me. Why are you still reading this review and not sprinting over to SNS right now?

For my 35th birthday I decided that I'd give myself the gift of a personal trainer to start paying more active attention to fitness as I drifted towards middle age. I had no idea what I wanted to do, other than not a lot of cardio (too boring). I took a look at the gyms in my neighborhood and found SNS and decided that lifting seemed as good as anything else, so I signed up for a consultation with Joe.
I have to admit that I was pretty intimidated at first as a complete beginner at what (it turns out) is a gym full of absolutely elite lifters and coaches, but that was rapidly put to ease. Joe took me from a total novice whose only goal was "to do something with my body other than sit on the couch" and couldn't even do a body weight squat (horrible range of motion!) to a barbell convert currently outfitting my own home gym!
The gym itself is full of top quality equipment for both power and olympic lifting, as well as all of the typical resources you'd expect for accessories. The community of lifters here are serious, courteous and treat the space and each other with immense respect. I love the 24 hour access option, especially with my strange work schedule. Finally, I have found the management to be extremely responsive to any issues that have come up.
Deciding to work out at SNS ended up being one of those decisions that seemed so tiny at the time but had an incredible impact on my life for the better. If you're a serious lifter you probably already know about it, and if you're interested in getting started from zero you'll be thankful you signed up.

I started my powerlifting journey with minimal guidance. After competing for the first time, I decided I wanted to take my training to the next level. I reached out to coach Evie, simply looking for some guidance on how I should go about training, and unexpectedly, she took me in as one of her athletes. She is on the younger side, but do not let that fool you. She is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in the sport and I have improved greatly since I started working with her. During my first couple visits to SNS, I came off shy and reserved and that did not stop members from welcoming me with open arms. I feel inspired each time I walk through those doors and I have met amazing people from different backgrounds but similar goals as me. I pride myself in being a part of this community and I hope to contribute that same energy.

This is the best gym in NYC! My husband and I found this gym because we lived nearby and were interested in power lifting. At first I thought the atmosphere would be intimidating for a beginner like me, but nothing could be further from the truth. This gym has a true community. Everyone is welcoming and encouraging, regardless of your level of experience. As a woman, I was particularly encouraged to see how many other women train at SNS since gyms like this are often very male-dominated spaces. The athletes who train here are true inspirations!
The real highlight of this gym is Coach Joe, who also owns and manages the gym as well as providing personal training services. My husband and I both work with him for personal training and customized programming. Joe primarily coaches competitive athletes, but is equally as adept at coaching “gen pop” beginners like us. He has incredibly high level and nuanced understanding of lifting technique, but is able to break it down and explain it in simple and understandable terms, even if you are brand new to the barbell. He is kind, encouraging, approachable, and fun to work with. He meets the lifter where they are and can easily identify what to prioritize so the lifter makes rapid progress but does not become overwhelmed. It is not an exaggeration to say that finding SNS and working with Joe changed my life for the better. I cannot recommend Joe’s coaching and this gym enough!

Had a great 1:1 coaching session with Joe to make sure I had the proper fundamentals for all the core compound presses. Joe broke both technique and training strategy down in a way that was easy for a beginner like myself to both understand and remember. Highly recommend ! Gym seemed like it had a great vibe too

The equipment is quite old and the gym isn’t very clean. It’s mainly a powerlifting gym so there aren’t a lot of iso machines. It does get crowded during peak hours which can be frustrating.
Some of the “staff” are rude.
The main issue however is that things break and are never fixed. The only lat pulldown was broken for 3 months, and the only pulley machine in the gym has been broken for over 3 months and still not fixed. For a gym that’s $150 a month, this is a joke.

If you are looking for a place to lift, look no further. This place is ~0 frills (there’s hardly a mirror in the place) and the amenities are minimal. SNS’ two great strengths are
1. An abundance of powerlifting equipment. I’ve never once waited for a bench/rack, and I tend to go at peak times
2. An amazing community. There are a LOT of serious lifters here, and you will see people moving a stunning amount of weight if you come regularly. That said, people are super nice and welcoming to new members
My one gripe is that I wish SNS had more accessory equipment. Overall an amazing gym though

Great gym. Sort of a no frills warehouse. Used to have no cardio machines, but now has 2 (they did it so they can be considered a proper health club). Also everyone is super friendly and super strong. Sometimes I come at 2 different times of the day and it’s the same people. I suspect there’s a basement where people live and eat protein shakes.
Only downside is everyone is stronger than you and you’ll feel small forever

Really easy to get a day pass online. They have basically everything you need for powerlifting. The space is a little small and I found it a little hard to set up a good camera angle to record sets, but I was able to get a rack no problem and people were nice. Some of the equipment upstairs has seen better days and they don’t have a hamstring curl machine, but otherwise no complaints from me. I’ll be back whenever I stay in the area next.

Great intimate no frills power lifting gym. Community is great, everyone is there to get better and workout but definitely a judgement free zone. If you're looking for a gym with tons of power racks, olympic platforms, and barbells this is your go to gym in the area. Best of all, they are open 24/7 for members and stay well stocked with goodies (for purchase) like Bang, protein shakes, and pop tarts.
Only knock on the location is there are no showers which makes working out here in the AM before work a non-starter for me.
