The absolute best yoga studio on Staten Island! The heat provides so many health benefits while performing the yoga postures. The moving meditation is a strict spiritual practice that guides you through your struggles into your strengths. Just breathe. What you learn on the mat will carry through to what you'll apply in life. Leave your ego behind and bring your soul.

Update :
To Nicole- at no point did I said “call an ambulance or else” - the back and forth will not seek any results. My review stands as is, for those looking for a new Bikram/Hot studio, please take everything into consideration. Look at other reviews, don’t take my word as a golden rule.
———

What an AWFUL experience....

Was excited to get back into yoga and was looking forward to sharing this experience with a friend.

The good- people taking the class all seem very nice. The instructor knowledgeable in palates.

The bad - studio smell like sweat that has not been cleaned up in ... ever.

- the studio owner is unprofessional and rude and there is nothing "namaste" about her demeanor.

- the instructor seems threatened and terrified of her boss (the owner) to the point of creating a false narrative

Will not be returning. If you are okay with disrespectful behavior and just taking class by disconnecting with the rest of the world- this is a place for you.

Disclaimer - I am a health professional with 30+ years of dance teaching experience. When your hot yoga studio forbids you from leaving the room during class, even if you felt unwell, it raises concerns about safety. To add insult to injury when the studio owner proceeds to yell at you, questions you says that by leaving the class was disrupted, and insults - that's speaks volumes about the culture of the practice. If I didn't leave, the class would have been even more disrupted with the instructor unable to teach at all because they would need to take care of the student instead of teaching,

Furthermore, when the owner accuses the client that because of the client the owner could not complete their scheduled personal important appointment- that demonstrates concern for the owner's mental state.

There are safety risks involved with hot yoga and it is the responsibility of the instructor and the student to ensure safety.

Listening to your body is paramount: Regardless of studio policy, your well-being should be the priority. If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous, or experience any other signs of heat intolerance or illness during a hot yoga class, it's essential to take a break or leave the room. Same with dance -pushing through injury is highly discouraged as it may cause further injury.

People are paying for the class, this is not a prison. No one comes to class looking to disobey any rules, this is supposed to be a fun and relaxing experience.

If you are looking for relaxation, a great stretch, and to test your endurance the 26&2 is for you!
Want something INTENSE the ignite class, somewhere in between?? The Barre class.
I have fallen in love with the offerings of Some Like it Hot. But please know that Hot Yoga is not your average Vinyasa. Hydration is IMPORTANT! Think gatorade, electrolytes, not just water. I would recommend everyone to try a class. Even if you just lay in the room. You will have tested yourself and come out all the better for it!

SLIH is truly something special! The heated classes allow students to enhance their practice while building strength and flexibility. Besides yoga, the studio also offers fantastic Pilates and barre classes that provide an excellent full-body workout and beautifully complement the benefits of hot yoga. The instructors are knowledgeable. The studio is clean and well-cared-for. If you’re in the mood to sweat, stretch, and build strength, this is the studio for you!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A Gem in Staten Island: Some Like It Hot Yoga

This review is long overdue because my experience here was nothing short of amazing. As active-duty military who has lived overseas for almost 15 years, I only come home to NY during the holidays. I reside in South-East Asia. In the past two years, I’ve developed a deep love for yoga. Having been a trained dancer since the age of 2 and holding group fitness and Zumba certifications, yoga is still a relatively new journey for me. Becoming a yoga instructor in Southeast Asia over the last two years has been one of the highlights of my life. But as an introverted and shy student, I know I have so much more to learn in the yoga world.

Recently, I returned to Staten Island for personal reasons, staying for about a month. I didn’t want to stop my yoga practice, so I searched for a local hot yoga studio for the first time. In my home region in Southeast Asia, I practice Radi8, but I’ve heard of styles like Hot26 and Bikram and had never taken those classes before. I’d only ever attended one yoga studio before—the one where I started as a student and eventually earned my yoga certification.

One lesson my guru taught me is to never enter a studio announcing yourself as a teacher because you are always a student first. Following that wisdom, I walked into Some Like It Hot Yoga feeling shy and anxious. I’d signed up online, and as soon as I arrived, the instructor immediately recognized me as a new face. This was such a relief because it showed me they knew their regulars and noticed when someone new needed help. She kindly guided me through check-in and explained what to do, making me feel at ease.

I settled onto my mat in the most packed yoga class I’d ever attended. The class was challenging and, of course, hot—which I was used to—but the community was so welcoming. Signing up for my next class was simple with their app, and I quickly began connecting with other students. Eventually, the studio owner, Nicole, even invited me to her 10-year anniversary dinner. I was shocked but honored!

Attending that dinner was such a special experience. I sat with a room full of strangers who poured out stories of how much the studio meant to them. Nicole gave out prizes, and the entire evening was filled with joy. I had a chance to chat with instructors and students, which helped ease my shyness even more. If I didn’t live halfway across the world, this would be my new yoga home.

As a Black woman, the yoga world can sometimes feel intimidating, but here, I felt nothing but acceptance. The community Nicole has built is the true meaning of yoga. The studio offers challenge, education, and warmth to anyone—no matter your skill level. I learned new modifications, gained confidence, and felt completely embraced.

During my time there, I even attended Glow Night—something I never expected to enjoy so much! Imagine doing traditional Pilates in a heated room with glow-in-the-dark lights—it was so much fun!

If I ever return home to Staten Island, I’d love to be a permanent fixture at this studio. I highly recommend Some Like It Hot Yoga to anyone looking for a yoga community that embodies acceptance, learning, and challenge. This studio is truly a gem—right there in Staten Island of all places!

The studio smells so bad like a wet dog, to be exact. I have attended many hot yoga classes in my 15 years of my yoga practice and they don't smell like that. She comments about a clean air system but she doesn't have one.

The owner of the Studio is no Yogi, she is rude.

On their website it says INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED class .When myself and my daughter walked in she practically chased us out. She said if we had never been to her STUDIO we wouldn't know what we were doing HUH!!!! She said she does not teach this class she just does it. She actually questioned me on putting my hands up I said "what? tree pose" She said "No, half moon" again HUH!!! Alot of Yoga poses you put your hands up, did she think we could read her mind which pose she was talking about???
Of course I know what half moon is but I was never going to or never will go back to that studio!! My daughter commented on we work out everyday and them she said "we have big cross fit guys that come in and find the class hard." First of all we both do cross fit, run marathons, are memebers of BUTI Yoga studio, and also core pilates She was challenging us!! Woo hoo crazy fake YOGI. I was forced to to give it one star to post..
THIS STATEN ISLAND FOR YOU!!
This is why we don't live here anymore......

She claimed that she asked if we did Bickram YOGA she absolutley did NOT. She asked if we have been to her studio before!!!!
I do Astanga yoga and have done Bickram many times...

She told us to come the next day which is impossible, we live in Manhattan, and were looking for a class just for one day. And we were willing to pay $40 each for the class. If she didn't turn people away maybe she could afford a clean air system.

Yoga is always your own practice and the the website says intermediate/advanced. We both are advanced yogis!!!

I decided to get a one month unlimited pass back in August. For one month, I learned how to better control my mind, realized my body is capable of more than I thought, and found peace in the journey. I took almost every class I could and they were all wonderful* (*wonderful is not to be mistaken as easy, but the reward of getting through them is an accolade in itself) I am so happy my mom encouraged me to go. It has helped me with my anxiety and ever-flowing mind to be at ease. The instructors are amazing and they all brought their own warmth to each class. I love the idea of a group of people trying to enrich their body, mind, and soul no matter beginner or expert. It is a great discipline that helps with not only your physical health but also your mental health. I highly recommend this studio! Thank you especially to Nicole, Whitney, Winnie, Enrica, Stephanie, Danielle, Kathy, and Tiffany!! I just purchased a 6 month unlimited pass and excited for the journey! :)

Back to hot yoga after 2 years, and was not impressed with my first class at this studio. The studio is a bit clichish, people can be very loud before class and it’s rude. I don’t feel like the instructors know what they’re doing and classes are always short. All in all I wouldn’t go back. If you find a different hot yoga studio go there. I’ve never wrote a bad review before so for me to go out of my way to write one, you know it’s bad. Unfortunately the owner of this studio had a horrible attitude with me.
Long story short, you must arrive at the studio 5 minutes early. At the time of my class, New Dorp lane was a mess so with traffic so unfortunately I could not get there 5 minutes early, however I ended up arriving 1 minute early and was locked out. I texted the owner that I would still be arriving early just not 5 minutes early and once I arrived I was locked out, and no one would answer the phone. I was standing outside hoping that someone would at least come to the door to turn me away.
I truly do understand there are strict rules at the studio put in place, regarding meditation being apart of the practice which is why they don’t take “late arrivals”. However, after the class I called the owner hoping I would at least get credit for the class I was locked out of (being it’s an expensive package- $105 for just 4 classes.) and I was understanding even after she told me she couldn’t give me credit for the class.
But then I asked about the late fee charge and she told me that she would be charging me $50 for a “late fee” when I was in fact EARLY to the class. Her attitude was atrocious through this entire conversation and she told me “I don’t actually care whether you understand or not. I am the owner of this studio and you will not be getting credit and you will be charged for the late fee!” She was extremely aggressive when explaining this to me, as I was genuinely trying to understand how I could be charged $50 when I wasn’t late. To make matters worse, as I was replying to her over the phone she cut me off and hung up on me. I don’t believe that an owner should act like that. She didn’t hear my frustration, she didn’t empathize, she didn’t apologize and she didn’t even try to resolve a situation that I believed to be a conflict.
As I told my friends the story, more and more stories came out about how this owner has been extremely rude to them as well, which is why they don’t go to this studio any more. I wish I would’ve asked around before.
Save your money and your time and try Club Pilates instead. The owner there has been very understanding and empathetic and you get similar health benefits. (Mind you, Club Pilates late fee is only $15 and I’ve watched many people come to class late or be turned away but never get charged the late fee and even get credit so they can attend a different class)
I hope this owner starts to be more kind to the people who attend her studio.

AMAZING STUDIO WITH PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS AND STAFF!!!
I first tried hot yoga summer 2018 on a vacation to California. I came back to Staten Island and starting searching hot yoga studios in SI. I came across some like it hot yoga & wellness. I knew friends who had taken yoga classes here and recommended I purchase the groupon (2 months).
My first class was with Winnie and it was tough, my friend that came with me could not handle it. However, I knew that the sweat was normal and the hot room only seemed so hot because I was not used to it. When I left my first class I remember feeling refreshed and relaxed and I couldn't wait to go back.
It is now almost 5 months in and its safe to say that I am addicted to hot yoga! The instructors are professional, dedicated and passionate about each class they teach. I do not like working out in a gym, but hot yoga is something I enjoy going too. Yoga has taught me patience, gratitude and balance. Some like it hot yoga is great environment. The variety of class's makes this yoga studio unique. I am so happy I found this gem of a place in Staten Island.

I brought a Groupon for my Friend and I for a month so went once and liked it, we had to pay extra because they said the Groupon expired by a month do we did, things got in the way so I couldn't make it in. I went online a brought a 2 month Groupon and when I try to set up the Owner said she couldn't honor it because I came once before with a Groupon, I explained my situation and she answered basically if I honor your Groupon Because of your situation I will be out of business. So I asked for a refund that either so it's pay more or just get 3 day use of a 2 month groupon. That is bad business.

Update review: 10/6/17
I just can't stop myself from going. The studio is fantastic and the staff here is great and so are the teachers. I highly recommend it!

I have been going for a little over a year now and I'm completely hooked! The studio is huge! The place is well kept and tidy (a big plus in my book). Nicole is friendly, helpful and innovative! When I started practicing, it was only bikram classes. Now, we have Hot Pilates (special shout out to Lisa! my fav teacher!) and recently added Kick Your Asana. Keep up the good work Nicole! Namaste!

Hello!! This studio is awesome!! I have been going to this studio for almost a year now, and I have had nothing but exceptional experiences each class. The studio is always spotless. The instructors and the staff and very friendly and helpful. I have made several new friends with other people taking the classes.

I was a beginner when I started. I had never taken a yoga class in my life, let alone hot yoga. It was amazing! There was never any judgement, or meaniness from anyone. Everyone was so nice and encouraging. I appericate the tips from the instructors during the class to ensure that I was completing each posture correctly and safely.

Being able to rent a mat or towel if I forgot mine, and being able to purchase large cold bottles of water is so convenient.

I love that the class doesn't get interrupted by late comers. I know it sucks to be behind schedule. But allowing late students to try to enter the room and move around to find a spot would be extremely distracting.

I have recommend this studio to everyone!! It is a great place.

SLIH has a very welcoming atmosphere. There is always a great turnout of kind people.
The studio is beautiful, spacious, EXTREMELY clean and ALWAYS in order! The yoga room itself has felt carpet that looks like hardwood floors but is soft and comfortable on your skin. The womens locker room has cubbies for your personal items and several shower and bathroom stalls so that there is never a wait.
The instructor Nicole is personable, dedicated, funny and caring. She is in tune and attentive to the class. She makes all of the hard work that she does look effortless because it is her passion and it shows in her instruction.
I practice yoga in the winter months when it is freezing cold outside and 105 degrees hot inside. And when I do practice I practice 7 days a week because I love it so much.
Yoga challenges you to step out of your comfort zone, to take control of your thoughts and body, overcome your doubts and fears and practice lazer beam focus.
Even though the 26 postures are the same 26 postures every single class, I am challenged every time I practice and see improvements daily. I have definitely become stronger and now have rubberband-like flexability. It has changed my mind, body and posture. And my skin looks amazing.... there's no need for facials while practicing hot yoga.
I also feel that the prices are fair and reasonable given the training that is delivered. And there are always great groupon deals and packages to make it more affordable. SLIH is a wonderful place to start or continue your practice. NAMASLAY

AHHH Some Like It Hot, where do I begin? You know when you have a restaurant that you just adore...or a secret store you find all of your cute stuff...and you simultaneously want to tell everyone how wonderful it is, but also pray it doesn't get too crowded that it changes everything you love about the place...so you're like hmm should i keep this gem a secret? That is how I feel about SLIH Yoga + Wellness, but the good always outweighs the bad, and everyone should know about what a fabulous place it is and what a fabulous person Nicole, the owner, is.

About two years ago, I came on a friend's whim with a groupon to try classes. She didn't finish our package, and now, I come myself as much as possible...usually about 4 days a week. I've bopped around from workout to workout before and never found anything that challenged my body and mind every time, and, without fail, makes me feel better than before I came.

Bikram (26+2 here) is HARD; make no mistake about that, but once you learn that you can do it, you can enjoy all of the intricacies and the rewards of the practice. It is a unique practice though, and if you aren't properly prepared before your first class, it can be overwhelming...read about it, educate yourself, hydrate, ditch the phone, embrace the no-talking, understand that your first class will be totally overwhelming...and then, go with it!

Over the last year or so, Nicole has added Inferno Pilates (a fun low impact HIIT workout in slightly lesser heat), 60 minute versions of the 26+2 (vs the normal bikram approved 90), and Kick Your Asana (a power flow kind of yoga practice that always changes vs. the routine of Bikram style)... each of them are a great compliment and make SLIH a place where I truly feel like I can get everything I need. You can rent what you need (and it's just yoga, mat and towel) if you are a newbie (or when you forget or get behind on laundry like me.)

Nicole herself is great...she teaches many of the classes (all of the teachers there are excellent but have different styles which I appreciate; Nicole's standards are high), and she keeps the studio pristine (especially when you keep in mind that this is a studio where people sweat more than they knew was possible). The studio itself, the locker rooms and showers, the lobby -- everything is perfect and improving at all times. On top of running a fabulous business, Nicole is a great person and beautifully brings this amazing yoga community of wonderful people together. I am so incredibly happy to have found SLIH, and feel so lucky that it has become such a big part of my life. I have truly never ever been so addicted to anything so good for me before.

As a very active person, I always say the classes offered at Some like it Hot are some of the best!

The studio-
First of all the studio is a palace! It is spacious! Oh and it super clean! In a place where people go to sweat PROFUSELY one would NEVER know unless they took a class. The flooring is very maintained/cleaned, the glass mirrors or spotless, the smell.... oh wait there isn't a smell, which goes to show you how well maintained the studio is
The Staff-
I always make it a point to try each teacher and give critical feedback to Nicole, as I have been practicing for many years.
Nicole's staff is great. She cares about her staff but cares about her students and how they feel with the teachers and is always receptive to feedback.
The practice-
Boy, this practice is INTENSE (let's not sugar coat). Its not your typical yoga or Pilates where you go in a room stretch left right forward back.
The stretching is not the hardest, the difficult part is the heat, but once you get use it and not attempt to run out you will become acclimated and enjoy the heat.
While you are in the room you are working your body, your mind and your soul. You are sweating the stress of the day, week behind. You are in a room where NO ONE judges, everyone is there to better themselves and everyone is caring and respectful of each other.

Nicole has created an environment a jewel like
No other on Staten Island. A community, a family of Yogis/ Pilate-goers.

One last note- go to the website! Learn what you are going to experience, its hot in the room, you are going to stretch and push your body to the limits- you are going to need comfortable clothes, you are going to need to be hydrated BEFORE class, you a
Probably shouldn't eat 2 hours before class--- semi empty stomach is best !

I only have but high regards for Some Like it
Hot and highly recommend you (yes you reading this) to get your workout clothes on and get to a class now- and by now I mean the next class!

All the best on the your practice!

I've had the ability to take classes in Bikrim Yoga studios throughout the country. None compares with Some Like it Hot Yoga and Wellness. It is professionally run, extremely clean, and I feel terrific at the end of the class and the remainder of the day. Don't be fooled by other so called hot yoga studios that have little or no training. This studio is the best!

After trying few different studios, I found the one I love. It's clean, and the instructors are very friendly. Class was very challenging, yet I was able to go on my own pace. I highly recommend SLIH Yoga to everyone.

Great studio . Very clean. Nicole is one of my favorite instructors. They have rules but don't force anyone if they can't . So pace yourself. It is a great practice. Their 60 minute classes help those people who just started or smn who has difficulty with the 90 minute class . Relax, sweat and enjoy .

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at this studio. Being eager to get back into the loving practice of yoga, I purchasing a 1 month unlimited package online for $170. One day after going to a class I noticed that first time students receive a special package of $50 for 1 month unlimited. When I brought this to the owner's(Nicole) attention, she said to email her to talk about it in depth. This is where she declined my request for a refund of $120 (even though I was a new customer to her studio) blaming it on credit card "fees" but offered me a 15% discount off my next package. Although I appreciated her attempt, the discount offered was significantly over the $50 option I should have received. Replying back with more assertiveness I asked again for the refund where she replied in a rude and unprofessional manner. Among other words she said, and I quote, " I do not owe you the difference and honestly was being nice giving you the options below." This dispute continued when I tried to speak to her in person where I realized she would never take two minutes to speak to me. On top of the bad customer service, I'm skeptical of the cleanliness of the studio floor. Overall, the instructors were well trained in teaching bikram but I personally won't be returning. Good luck Nicole.

Very rude. I just called about an hour ago to receive some information prior to attending the 8:15pm class and the woman on the phone was very rude and told me that all the information was on the website. I was very excited to start hot yoga but reading these comments just gave me all the information I needed. I just saved 140 dollars a month! Don't do it. Yoga is suppose to be peaceful , I'm too happy to deal with miserable people :)

Place is great but instructors soo mean, they have clock by front door five minutes fast,I was late one minute, they closed door on the front my face,it's great exercise but it's not easy to do,during the class I have cramps and instructor scolded me and I was very embarrassed. At the end of the class I approached her to explain that I was in pain during class and she went on to tell me that I was disrespectful to others. Overall I was upset at the end and I will not be returning.
