Chris is such a great coach. He gives very clear, precise directions, and is very helpful with corrections and adjustments. The atmosphere of the class is upbeat, and encouraging, and supportive. I always look forward to my Zoom classes with Chris!

I am over the moon with how Speakeasy of Strength has been moving forward since rebranding. They have gotten everything right-- there's safety, variety, self-expression, motivation, social time, availability, and workouts that build the strength I need as a woman over 40. The team makes it fun to get on the mat and lift heavy, consistently. I'm grateful, and feeling strong!

I started going to speakeasy after starting to have chronic back pain and as a supplement after physical therapy ended- and just to get back in overall better phys shape as i age. I’m sort of a creative wierdo lol and i hate normal gyms/gym culture. Speakeasy is a great fit. Creative types and gay friendly. Skateboards and pics of Starwars stuff on the walls. Been there almost a year. I now look forward to my gymclass days and my body is strong. Def would recommend

I do the Homebody classes which are excellent! Specific, hard, great attention to things like alignment, position, etc. I'm older (ahem) and these classes have INCREASED my bone density by 5%! Awesome! And normally I hate weight kinds of classes so these people are doing something really well!!

I’ve always shied away from gyms because it never felt like my vibe, in addition to the insecurities of having never been lean in my life. But the SpeakEasy of Strength HK is unlike any place I’ve ever been a member. It’s a safe space and an actual community; one that’s welcoming of ALL body types and people from all walks of life. In this day and age that’s a rarity to find. My 3-4 times a month attendance at other gyms has turned into 4-5 times a week at the Speakeasy! I am getting so much stronger and leaner. As a woman hitting perimenopause, this is how I improve my quality of life and create care that sees my body through the decades in the future.

Speakeasy of Strength really is one of those gyms that make you forget that you're in a gym. Once you walk in the door, you'll be greeted by some of the best humans on the earth. The trainers are amazingly knowledgeable, quick to help, and ready to adapt any exercise if you're not ready for for a particular movement (seriously, my hip hates me, and the trainers are always ready with an alternative exercise so I can still work out). But beyond just being smart, the trainers are silly, funny, and a little nerdy (in all the best ways). You can tell that they're whole-heartedly rooting for you every step of the way. Come check it out. The hardest exercise you'll do is walk in that door.

I've now been a member for 4 years, and couldn't be happier. It's hard to teach on zoom - I've done it. The instructors are terrific. They give feedback all the time and it's a totally fun and supportive atmosphere. Very very happy I joined.
Regarding Unicorn Accountability Coaching: it's been a totally great experience. Britta is supportive but pushes in all of the right ways. And the time (12 weeks) is enough to really get started on changing habits past the initial thrill of something new. I've really enjoyed that ability to text/email any time and plan phone calls as well. It's really made a difference for me, and the pricing is very reasonable and a great value. The communication is always very clear and all staff super responsive and helpful.

I love the Speakeasy!! The vibe is so welcoming and fun. The workouts are killer but the focus is always run your own race. You'll get pushed but not screamed at -- gimme one more!!--unless maybe you want someone to scream at you :) . Trainers are so supportive, knowledgable and unique. Speakeasy of Strength is my happy place. Highly recommended!

I was completely sedentary when I started coming to Speakeasy. Six years later, my body feels SO good. This gym is a safe space to learn. Achievements are celebrated, and the staff and trainers genuinely care about members. Plus, it is the most fun you can have working out, and it is easy to feel like a part of the community. Love it here.

I have been going to the Speakeasy since January and can’t say enough good things about it. I joined to up my weight lifting game and the gains in strength are striking. All of the coaches are lovely and knowledgeable. The Speakeasy also worked with me for time off when I had to have minor knee surgery and then coming back to full strength post surgery.
There is no gross gym culture here—everyone is very supportive and it’s a place where all different bodies are welcome, wherever their fitness starting point may be. Every week you are trying to make yourself better and support the folks you are training with. If you’ve been thinking of trying it, take this as your sign to give it a go.

Speakeasy of Strength caters to every single individual they come into contact with. I have consistently trusted Speakeasy of Strength with my health and hotness journey since 2013 and there has never been a time when I did not feel taken care of. Mark Fisher Fitness's knowledge of fitness is addressed in a way so every individual seeking guidance is able to get the results that they desire (not the results that were imposed on them by society).
Speakeasy of Strength acknowledges all the factors that go into fitness and getting real sustainable results. I have learned how to move beautifully but I have also learned how to recover beautifully. Everyone on staff at Speakeasy of Strength knows exactly who I am as an individual and what cues I respond best to. Training with Speakeasy of Strength means you are a part of a community of people who want you to thrive and succeed. I do not always want to show up to my workouts but every time I do I know I will have community of leaders cheering me on.
I truly have never experienced anything like this magical place and I am constantly being surprised by how Speakeasy of Strength goes above and beyond to meet the needs of their community!
Update July 13, 2021
Returning to an in person fitness class has been one of my favorite things in the post vaccination life. I love that Speakeasy of Strength acknowledges the hard year we have all had and is helping us use the difficult year to create a positive outcome. I am so grateful for the in person cues that I am once again able to receive and so amazing at how helpful each cue helps me get way better than I could on my own.
Update October 16th, 2025
Speakeasy of Strength continues to up-level my growth. The training, guidance, and cheerleading I have received in exactly what I need to continue to grow into a human I love being. I feel. so strong and I notice I have so much energy throughout my long days in NYC. I love training with every single human there! I am always excited to get my next work out in!

Speakeasy of Strength has a great atmosphere and an accepting culture that will be loved by anyone who joins. They use small group sessions with coaches who take time to get to know you, and therefore are mindful of form and injury history. It's incredible for gym-goers of any level of experience, but particularly useful for those who might just be starting out on their fitness journey and want to get to know their abilities in a comfortable space. Because everyone is doing the same workout, and the exercises change from month to month, the gym introduces you to a variety of exercises and movements that you might never have learned otherwise. Some you love, and others, maybe you don't love so much! But this process familiarizes your body with loads of strength and mobility workouts and gives a strong full-body workout that is adjustable based off of your own goals. What separates Speakeasy from other gyms, and what is ultimately its greatest strength, is the community and the coaches. There is a low stress attitude of respect in the group sessions, and the coaches are a wonderful, kooky bunch of kind, knowledgable folks who you will look forward to seeing. I would recommend this gym to anyone!

Speakeasy of Strength has been an essential part of my fitness on and off for over 10 years, and I have learned so much from the the coaches there. They seem to know what I need in the moment, from encouragement to try a heavier kettlebell to support that showing up is enough. This has helped me grow tremendously, and made me stronger both mentally and physically. I recommend them highly!

I’ve only been part of this gym for a short time—just a month—but I’m already hooked. Every session is the perfect mix of intensity and enjoyment, keeping me motivated and excited to come back. Love this place! Speakeasy is so approachable and fun! Each of the coaches is lovely and knowledgeable, and I have yet to leave a class where I don’t feel exhausted (ha), supported, proud of myself, and amused by the number of pop culture references the coach managed to make. Though I'm someone who's always loved to work out, I'm not exactly a gym bro. I’m a nerdy queer mom of 4 in my 40s! But I've belonged to a LOT of gyms over the last couple of decades, and I have to say that Speakeasy of Strength is by far my favorite of all time. The programming is incredibly smart, creative, and fun -- as a health care provider I am genuinely impressed with how much obvious education, understanding of the human body, and thought and care goes into them. They are challenging but you never leave them wanting to die. This is not a balls-to-the-wall machismo kind of workout...its one that is nurturing and playful even as it is effective and strengthening. The coaches are phenomenal -- attentive, encouraging, and great at cueing and feedback, as well as modifications. It's amazing how they will help adapt workouts to different people's needs and mobility with encouragement, curiosity, and creativity. You can just tell how much the entire staff cares about and invests in all members. They are inclusive, welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental. And all of that radiate through the entire community because Steve and the coaches cultivate it among the members too. It's a genuinely FUN place to workout.
All in all, this is a gem of a gym. Good workouts, good people. Highly recommended.

2023 REVIEW 1:
I have been a part of the MFF family for about a decade. MFF has provided high level training infused with well-thought out programming, in an encouraging and inclusive environment, with healthy doses of humor and silliness to keep me motivated to continue showing up for myself.
I'm grateful for the MFF team who have been there for my journey of gaining strength, maintaining it, losing strength and/or mobility through injuries, and feeling supported in shifting gears to when I've had to recalibrate and rehabilitate. As a professional performing artist-athlete, it's important for me to not only have the accountability that MFF provides, but also an environment that keeps me feeling joyful and motivated.
There's a reason I've stayed for a decade- community, accountability, and fun-silly-joy have been key in supporting my health and wellness journey. I'm so grateful for the MFF family! 💜
2025 REVIEW 2:
This year, Mark Fisher Fitness, affectionately known as the ninja clubhouse of glory and dreams, has officially transitioned to new ownership under former trainer "Coach Fury," Steve Holiner. As we embrace this change and shift from MFF to SOS (Speakeasy of Strength), I’m thrilled to see the mission of improving by 1% each day continue. Having been a dedicated client, or "ninja," for about 12 years, I’m eager to share updates on the high-quality fitness experience that remains.
Ooo, I’m feeling the benefits of the new programming emphasizing a kick-ass back to basics approach- and I've been sweatin’ more than I have in years. This improvement is partly due to recovering from old injuries and largely thanks to the conscious consideration of the training team who have been implementing client feedback... and it feels goooood!!
If you're curious to start, maintain, or continue your fitness journey with the support of an awesome crew dedicated to being ridiculous humans offering serious fitness, then head on down to the enchanted clubhouse of glory and dreams and... "Be sure and tell 'em Large Marge sent ya!! ....hahahahahaha!!!"(some folks will get that silly reference, hah) 😂🥸 - no, no, actually tell 'em Sass sent ya!
Cheers to life-long self-care, strength and wellness!

I came to MFF in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. I started with the 14-day challenge promotion and just never left! As a 64-year old retiree, I've been extremely pleased with the Homebody program and even more with the community that MFF works hard to create. Everyone is super friendly and extremely accepting. I love the "run your own race" and "1% better every day" philosophy of this gym. It really is a gym for people who hate gyms and hate to exercise. I exercise because I really like these people, and it also happens to be good for me--in that order of importance. In this short time, I am seeing muscles that I didn't even know I had, I've lost inches and I feel great. And, I have a whole bunch of new friends! It also gets me off my butt every day for a workout and, that's huge! It's been a wonderful experience!
It’s been 5 years now and I’m still working out and sweating hard most days! I love this place! I’ve learned so much about fitness and health from the fantastic staff. It’s hard to believe I've only been inside the Hell's Kitchen location a handful of times and I have not been to the Brooklyn "Speakeasy of Strength" yet at all. I do it all on Zoom! I can even workout on vacation anywhere in the world. And I’ve made some wonderful friends along this path. It keeps me on track for my weight loss (see my before and after pics below—although I’ve lost more weight since I took that “after” picture) and has really helped improve my back pain from spinal stenosis. So, I have no plans of stopping any time soon!

FURY IS BACK! Yes, Coach Fury, who was a trainer at MFF years ago, is now the new owner! And he's brought back the "old days" of fun and strength workouts! The workouts are challenging in an appropriate way and can always be modified, if needed. After 10 years at MFF, I'm learning new kettlebell skills & having lots of fun doing it. And the people are a community. Everyone is willing to help, if needed, and looks out for each other. If you are scared or on the fence about working out, stop by the Clubhouse for a tour. You'll see how much everyone enjoys working!
(4 years ago) I always the last one picked for sports and I never liked working out. But when I found MFF, I found a home. This is so much more than a gym. The community they have created is incredible. The trainers, staff & other members are so supportive and celebrate your success whether that is deadlifting 300lbs or just making it thru a class. You are encouraged to "run your own race" and get "1% better" each time, whatever that means to you and the trainers will help you meet any goal you set. Last year I decided to enter a powerlifting competition. My trainers wrote me programs to help me reach my goal & I walked away with 2nd place in my weight category despite never having competed before.
While it may seem intimidating to step into a "gym" the first time, MFF is the most welcoming place in the world. When I stepped in the door almost 7 (!) years ago, they already knew me by name.
And with the pivot to Zoom classes (Homebody!), the magic is still there. It's not the same as working out right next to someone else, but the support and community still shines thru.
Now that they've opened for semi private weight training, it's been great. I was a bit reticent to work out indoors but they have created 3 separate "pods" for each person and everything is cleaned before we work out, while we work out and after. I feel very safe & cared for at MFF. Weight lifting has been an amazing way for me to stay sane and my trainers are incredible at keeping it interesting while helping me progress. I cannot imagine going elsewhere.

MFF is unlike any other fitness organization. I started going to the HK location back in 2016. The instructors are and were very special, made me feel seen and loved on my worst days, and taught me so much about strength training and functional movement patterns on my best. Since moving away from nyc, I’ve continued on their homebody zoom classes, which have been a blessing as someone who works from home. The MFF team stole my heart over 10 years ago! I found out about this magical place as a personal trainer learning from MFF con ed, led by some of the smartest coaches in NYC. Now, I’m a Homebody Ninja taking their strength and conditioning classes from home.
What I adore most about these workouts is the coaches themselves. I’ve had the pleasure of taking classes with Chris, Sam, Rachel, Rog, and Chad - all with different styles and vibes, but no matter what, ALWAYS hitting that perfect balance between hard work, compassion, and fun. I’ve tried many fitness classes and modalities, and I’ll tell ya - some gyms are very technique focused, but not fun. Others are entertaining, but you’re at risk for injury or lack of results because there’s no regard for technique. MFF strikes that perfect balance of both serious fitness/technique, PLUS fun, acceptance, and pure joy.
MFF changed my life in many ways, and I am forever grateful to this team 🩷.
Give them a call :)

The other clubhouse members are also always positive and provide a sense of community. MFF offers a welcoming space for everyone to work on their health and wellness without feeling intimidated or overwhelmed.

MFF is the only private gym I would ever want to belong to in NYC. I started here almost 10 years ago, having never been a "gym person". I wasn't so much intimidated by traditional gyms (I belonged to NYSC and Equinox for years), as much as I didn't have the knowledge and support to have a methodical and effective plan, stay consistent, and actually get better/stronger.
At MFF, the coaches are beyond phenomenal -- smart, multi-certified, motivating, and full of energy and humor. They create such a welcoming, supportive and motivating atmosphere that we all are comfortable asking questions, trying new things, and understanding WHY the movement patterns and carefully crafted 4-week cycles actually work.
I've learned so much over the years--and continue to learn--and MFF has legit changed me in massive ways, both physically and mentally. I love the learning and the process, and I never realized it could be so doable, effective, and fun.
(Oh and the other members are amazing as well! I love the vibe and diverse NYC clientele--we can all be our wacky, creative, and normal selves.)

I’ll say it before and I will say it again: this is an amazing community center that happens to be a gym. I love it not just because I used to think kettle bells were gross and now can comfortably toss my suitcase into an overhead compartment, but really because I’ve met people I will happily spend Thanksgiving with.

There is truly no place like MFF! It is one of the most welcoming, inclusive, and motivating communities I have ever been a part of. They make you WANT to come to workout (something I thought I’d NEVER say)! Every trainer is beyond knowledgeable, making sure each person in their class is comfortable, doing things correctly, and pushing themselves to their full potential. On top of that, they’ve created a super inviting and overall fun environment that makes the classes fly by while also feeling effective. I’ve become stronger, healthier, and much more confident due to my time at MFF. Could not recommend more, and I think you’d be hard pressed to find another gym like it!

Surprisingly, I feel more SEEN by the instructor and more CONNECTED to the other participants in a Homebody zoom class, than in a regular fitness class at my gym. The zoom format makes it easier to know each other's names, easy for the instructor to see you and give specific instructions, and even for me to feel greater accountability when the instructor spotlights my frame ! Thus, a better workout!

Disappointing Experience at Mark Fisher Fitness
I had high hopes for Mark Fisher Fitness given all the buzz, but my experience was far from what I expected. The atmosphere is supposed to be welcoming and inclusive, but I found it anything but.
In particular, Emily stood out in the worst way possible. She was incredibly sarcastic, condescending, and downright rude during my interactions with her. Rather than being helpful or encouraging, her tone and attitude made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I go to a gym to feel motivated, not belittled.
It’s a shame because the space and concept have potential, but with staff like Emily setting the tone, I can’t recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of other gyms in the city that know how to treat people with respect.

Possibly the most empowered I've ever felt in a gym, and also the most I've laughed while doing weighted squats. Also the only time I've done weighted squats. MFF is truly life changing. I joined this incredible place about 10 years ago and I cant imagine my life without them. I was a college and high school athlete, and once I graduated I felt lost when it came to fitness now that I didnt have a coach to rely on. A friend of mine recommended MFF and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. MFF is the perfect balance of serious and fun. You're pushing yourself and achieving goals you've never thought were possible all while laughing to the point that it hurts. Most importantly, the trainers GENUINELY care about you as a human, not just a client. They know your name before you even walk in the door. Dear reader,
In greatest city in the world exists a private gym wonderland of Demi-god-like trainers and staff, called Mark Fisher Fitness. Be not afeared, though the isle is full of noises this land is abundantly welcoming, endlessly interesting, and vibrantly unique.
Enter a mere mortal and test your medal in the renowned Snatched program, develop your skills in a smorgasbord of classes, or train amongst the warriors of the Dragon’s Lair - but have no doubt, each time you walk in and out your are one step closer to immortality.
In the span of one magical summer, this weary traveler went from crestfallen, lethargic and physically inactive to interested in regular fitness routines and committed to improving this aspect of life consistently. That is thanks to Mark Fisher Fitness - a place with curated programming, a commitment to long-term growth, and populated by a fascinating community of New Yorkers, not defined by their orientation towards fitness, but rather by their commitment to showing up and showing out.
For that, they have my everlasting adoration and my continued desire to come back soon.

MFF is amazing, really. Instructors are like....over the TOP welcoming and enthusiastic in a way that will make one happy and giddy! I love the way that folks are just so interested in the clients here and when I first signed up, I feel like I had a heart to heart (video call) with Em, who asked me lots of questions regarding my fitness goals etc. What a way to get to know people entering this MFF universe! Instructors are awesome and you will laugh, smile, or both every time you take class. This is the only studio I know where class starts off with some sort of question (icebreaker) in the beginning of class - (usually totally unrelated to anything I would think of-in a good way!) and everyone's voice is heard. I have also learned about proper form and the ways that my body works through different workouts. Instructors/Trainers are also paying attention to form in a detailed way and make sure that you are getting that "bang for your buck" when it comes to your form in exercise. Thank you MFF!

Mark Fisher Fitness is life changing. There’s no other way to describe it. I had spent years and years going to gyms, trying to get fit, trying to develop a routine. And nothing ever stuck. Then a friend convinced me to try Mark Fisher Fitness. I’ve never looked back.
The clubhouse, trainers, staff, and other class takers couldn’t be more welcoming and friendly. The idea of a kettlebell workout can be intimidating, but everyone there is so supportive and helpful that all fears quickly melt away. The classes are challenging, but always fun. I always get a great workout, and always laugh throughout. I feel strong, healthy, and happy. And now if I have to miss a workout I’m bummed.
I cannot recommend trying out Mark Fisher Fitness more. I’d give it 10 stars out of 5 if possible. If you’re wanting to make a change, and gyms are intimidating to you (as they were and still are to me), give Mark Fisher Fitness a try. You won’t regret it.

I became a member in 2016 after putting some unwanted weight on. I was hooked immediately. Having not been in a public gym in a few years and relying on myself to kick start my fitness journey I was not so motivated.
The moment I walked in the door that all changed.
Not only do you get top notch trainers, but the community is a huge added bonus.
I met my goals and made life long friends who support my fitness journey but also show me a level of accountability that I have never been able to maintain. I would like to add that during Covid, the Homebody classes were a lifeline to not only maintaining my fitness goals but also opened an entire new community via zoom. The trainers are top notch and incredibly relatable . Something I never received from other gyms. I can honestly say that they are 100 percent invested in your goals.
It is with a very heavy heart that due to some personal issues I am putting my membership aside, but make no mistake that this community will always be my family no matter were life takes me. This is not goodbye but a very heartfelt see you later!
Oh, did I mention working out can be fun! Who knew?
Give it a go if you are searching for that something extra. You wont be disappointed. I miss you guys already. xoxoxo

MFF has the kindest, most welcoming and thoughtful culture. The staff are so personable and really seem to love what they do. It’s infectious. For someone like me who always felt uncomfortable in gym spaces, MFF made very sure I was right at home. Definitely recommend for anyone’s fitness journey.

This review is overdue and well deserved. MFF is a place for serious fitness, recovery days and everything in between. In case you haven't worked out with an instructor in impressively short shorts, a tutu, or fairy wings, doesn't mean it's not for you. Coming from a traditional background in training and gyms, I've found that the happiness and kindness that exists at MFF is for everyone. Snatched in the induction but Small Group is an amazing alternative for personal training. Highly recommended!

I have been to many, many gyms in about 5 different states over the course of my life. By far, Mark Fisher Fitness has been the best of them. This gym is easily the happiest place I've ever worked out. Over the last 6 or so years, I've been at MFF both in-person and through Homebody. The workouts are challenging and engaging, the trainers are charismatic and incredibly knowledgable, and the people who join this gym are there to work hard and have fun. If you've ever thought you were not a gym person, give MFF a chance anyway -- they are welcoming of all people, and no one will ever judge you here. If you're new to NYC, that goes triple! In addition to the actual classes, there's an active online community and the gym holds awesome events, fundraisers for great causes, and really helpful lifestyle supports. This community is A+, and I highly recommend it!

If you want to work out in a supportive and inclusive environment, Mark Fisher Fitness is the place. No matter what your goals are (having fun working out, learning to love yourself, GAINZ) MFF allows you to run your own race while inspiring you to get 1% better every day. I love the Clubhouse. Workouts there make me feel like a superhuman workout princess. Homebody has been awesome - the trainers at MFF actually manage to make you feel seen and give you helpful corrections and suggestions. It's almost as good as being there. If you've never felt like you fit in at the gym, try MFF.

Mark Fisher Fitness is truly a one of a kind, incredible community. I am a Homebody client--working out at home gives me the flexibility I need. Even on zoom, I feel a part of this community and a kind of stress-free accountability to show up for myself and (bonus!) to see my fitness pals and the supportive trainers. I'm always so impressed with the coaches who give nuanced, individual feedback on form, alternative movements if you need modifications, and make themselves available for questions. The programing is smart and varies week to week and class to class so it doesn't get boring. Special thanks to coaches Chris, Wheels, Mallory, Chad, Rachel, Jake, and Sam! 🤟🏻

What you get in joining Mark Fisher Fitness is not only access to incredibly curated strength training classes, you get a community. Truly, a family. In the six months since I joined, I’ve gained muscle and lost fat. I’ve gained confidence and lost doubt. I’ve gained friends and stopped putting my mind and attention towards people and projects that aren’t my friend. I ACTIVELY look forward to taking class, as I know that I will learn something while working as hard as I’ve ever worked and laughing through it all. If the price is a hang up for you, take a look at what it would cost to take classes elsewhere in the city. It’s comparable, if not less than Barry’s, Orange, Soul Cycle, etc. I’ve taken from those gyms before, and I’ve never once felt the kind of connection, transformation, and excitement that I feel here. Give it a try! They often have starter deals that are super reasonable and a great way to feel it out on a budget.

I cannot express how much I LOVE to go get my fitness on at MFF, because I know I will never be disappointed. They encourage you to run your own race and the consistency of the other ninjas that attend attests to the great work being done daily and hourly at MFF. I’m so grateful for my fellow ninjas, the availability of class times, the variety of workouts, and the accessibility to knowledgeable instructors that make each workout that much more beneficial. Priceless.

Update: Three years after signing up, I am still a happy homebody customer. I start every day with their fitness Zoom class and I feel amazing. I've now visited the clubhouse a couple of times when I was in New York, and I loved seeing everyone in person. Highly recommended for everyone, including people who dislike traditional gyms (like me).
I've never been to their physical location, but I have been taking their Homebody online classes since the start of the pandemic. I've never been motivated to work out at home before, but their classes are so fun! Their trainers are amazing and I have never been fitter. This is going to keep me sane through the winter.

I dislike exercise -- but I love Mark Fisher Fitness. Its welcoming, affirming atmosphere for people at all stages of their own fitness journey has had me hooked for years now. Their trainers have guided, cheered & encouraged me as I've developed strength and stamina, and their emphasis on correct form and listening to my body have kept my muscles & joints safe as my body (and my attitude) has been transformed. I can't believe I actually look forward to workouts now!

A great, friendly and welcoming atmosphere with excellent trainers. Classes are rigorous but always fun. The trainers pay close attention to form and offer alternatives if a particular move is too stressful for your body. Lots of individualized attention. I took both the large classes and the small training classes and have loved them. In the year I’ve been going, I have felt a real transformation in my body. It happened gradually, but the end result is I’m in better shape than I have ever been in my life. Thank you Mark Fisher!

This is the best, most welcoming and fun gym (and place in general) that I’ve ever been to. I started going to mff in 2017 and stoped right before the pandemic. I missed it terribly so I rejoined and I couldn’t be happier. Try it out you will not regret it every trainer is outstanding and fun (you’ll be dying laughing while you work out). They make it sooo easy and fun to have a lifestyle change and incorporate more exercise in your life. And they are extremely knowledgeable about mobility and exercise and will help you modify and find exercises that won’t hurt your injuries as well as making sure you have great form so that you don’t injure yourself. I would give them a million stars if I could!

Fitness that is actually fun? I mean, I wouldn't have believed it until I joined this gym. The workouts work, the people are wonderful, nobody takes themselves too seriously, but everybody takes fitness seriously. It's a perfect combination.
When I joined online during the pandemic, I had been suffering from injuries that kept me from enjoying my workouts. MFF's form-focused coaching and scale-able workouts got me back in order, and on top that they reignited my love for physical activity. I really appreciate it.
Thank you, MFF!

This place changed my life. Sad to hang up my membership after ~7 years due to moving. I joined this gym back in 2016ish after witnessing the transformation of a few work colleagues. Not just a physical transformation, but a transformation of energy and charisma as well. I started with Snatched in 6 Weeks and had an excellent education in the fundamentals of healthy strength and mobility training, and over the years have been building my skills with more coaching and across the regular zigs and zags that are our health and wellness. At times, I've had more time to invest and that has been great. At other times (new job, wedding, pandemic) I've chosen to scale down the energy investment and the MFF community is a place that works either as part of a routine or a place of focus and reinvention. The teaching here is excellent and I think that has a lot to do with excellent communication from the coaches. The coaches bring so much passion and heart to what they do.
One thing that has changed since before/after the pandemic is the online element of the gym. Pre-pandemic, the gym was more of a dynamic community in-person environment. It is now more hybrid in nature with many members preferring to take online group classes. In my view, something significant has been lost here and I would hope to see a rebuilt in-person community return in force.
If you are considering joining, I highly recommend Snatched in Six Weeks to jump start your journey and my advice is to fully invest in that experience and go from there!

I spent years being told I wouldn't be able to move certain ways; that my body had certain limitations that prevented me from most types of movement. The folks at MFF changed my whole outlook by showering me with enthusiastic, wacky support and by teaching me how to run my own race. I'm now stronger, more aware of my body's capabilities, I enjoy going to the gym, and so grateful for the fierce love of the MFF community.

After years of being a creeper of this spot from my friends who were Ninjas, I finally became a Ninja myself in Jan 2021 through Homebody. For 6 months, those online live workouts were such a lifeline for me - giving me a sense of routine and community during a really tough time of living alone in a studio apt during COVID. When the Clubhouse reopened, I was so excited to meet the coaches in person. As a queer person, I’ve always had a complicated relationship with fitness - and I realized what I loved the most about MFF was how affirming it was. It was the first time I felt comfortable to work out - that’s the best gift MFF gave me. Everyone from the coaches, to Ninjas, to the staff — they will never know just how much they helped me and what they helped me through. In my relatively short time at MFF, I did Homebody, Unicorn Accountability, Small Group Private Trainings, and even a round of Snatched I (which by the way is a must and a rite of passage, albeit a tad bit pricey). I relocated to San Diego and unfortunately had to part ways with MFF, but I’m lowkey emosh writing this review. I’m so happy to have been part of the Ninja Fam, and can’t recommend it enough to anyone considering a jump start or a jump back in to a fitness journey.

I have been a member here for over ten years. MFF has always provided consistently high quality and fun classes led by knowledgeable and caring fitness professionals. I also love that as I have aged, and my life and fitness goals have evolved, that has not meant needing to find a new place to work out. I love that you can be in class with a 20-something professional dancer on the mat to your left and a 60-year-old business owner on the mat to your right, and the class is equally appropriate, challenging, and enjoyable for both. Plus, they will be cheering each other on! It is a truly inclusive and welcoming environment, and I'm so thankful to have found it!
