10 months ago at 7:00 on a Tuesday nite i walked in and stopped at the south side of the front counter (the side that's nearest to the entrance-exit doors) and i was greeted by 1 of the male counter-clerks, and i asked him about yoga classes (or something similar), and he answered in a perkey way & then he gave a paper schedule... Several weeks later, also on a Tuesday nite, i was there again, and it might've been been him again at the counter, and he gave a tour of the premises.. it seemed as if he was there only on Tuesday nites ! his name might be Kyle... And then on May 5th by telephone to the gym, another male said that as of May 1st, the gym suddenley stopped participating with the Silver Sneekers Program, and that they were suddenley participating with the Active Fit Program which is issued supposedley by just 1 of the Health insurance Companies (United Health), whereaswhile Silver Sneekers is issued by Aetna & several others, which is why Silver Sneekers yields a higher amount of members... Starting May 1st, this review was lowered to just 4 & 1/2 stars.. The day that they participate with S.S. again, &/or if i transfer back to United Health, &/or if Aetna & the others aquire Active Fit, the 1/2 star will be re-issued !

My family and I go to Sportset to play Racquetball. The staff is super friendly and they have everything you need there to get in shape. The facility is clean and well maintained, they have a basketball court, offer lots of classes and make great protein shakes, all at a reasonable price. If we lived closer we'd definitely join.

This gym did an excellent job on creating a space where everyone goes there to work out and leave the staff is very nice friendly and helpful the costumer service is laidback the machines are very neat organized and never broken with good safety tips to follow for awareness and the only class I took was Zumba with Nando every Wednesdays (sometimes and occasionally) which is therapeutic drama free and judgement free he’s very excellent and he makes his students and clients alike feel warm and welcoming to enjoy themselves have fun and have a great time and he kept his dancing and fitness career very intimate compassionate and professional

I love an environment like that where everyone feels comfortable included appreciated safe warm and welcoming and supportive and all and that you were NEVER feel left out alone isolated lonely hurt or broken and I like to come there more often no matter what

An Exceptional Personal Training Experience at Sportset RVC

I just completed 50 personal training sessions with Nando Zambrano at Sportset RVC, and I can’t recommend him highly enough to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and highly skilled trainer.

For a long time, I was a regular at group classes at the gym, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I began to recognize the importance of strength training, especially as we age, and decided to focus on building muscle. That’s when I decided to work with Nando to learn proper form and receive expert guidance on my strength training journey.

Nando impressed me with his extensive knowledge of strength training. He took the time to thoroughly assess my fitness level, understand my personal goals, and craft a personalized workout plan that was both challenging and attainable. His expertise was evident in how he explained techniques, corrected my form, and introduced a variety of exercises tailored to my needs.

Nando has a genuine passion for helping his clients succeed. He is incredibly motivating and encouraging, always pushing me to reach my limits while ensuring that I stayed safe and avoided injury. Every session with him was productive and enjoyable.

In addition to personal training, Nando also provides assisted stretching sessions, which aids in post workout recovery and has significantly increased my flexibility and joint mobility.

Thanks to Nando’s exceptional training, I’ve experienced significant improvements in my strength and overall fitness. I’m incredibly grateful for the positive impact he has had on my fitness journey, and I look forward to continuing to work with him in the future. He is an amazing trainer and a fantastic motivator!

I called this gym and cancelled my membership because I’m moving and was told it went through. I continued being charged for 4 months and when I realized I called to get a refund and was told I was making up the phone call with the membership team because memberships are only cancelled through email. I was not told to email anyone when I spoke to the membership team on the phone, and they confirmed my cancellation was complete. It’s so unprofessional and frankly mean to say you don’t believe me and to keep money that isn’t yours to keep. Very upsetting because I thought this was a friendly community gym and obviously isn’t.

Update: No, I was NOT informed of your cancellation policy. I was told on the phone that my membership cancellation went through. Yes, after being told I lied and that I should have checked my credit card statement sooner to find the problem, I was told my membership was now cancelled (though I had already cancelled months ago). I was also told I could maybe be reimbursed for a month or two instead of four.

Kathy is a terrific instructor. I take her adult fitness class twice a week. She covers all bases: stretching, cardio, weight training, etc. Without forcing anyone beyond their comfort zone she has a way of encouraging us all to try harder, and we do. I joined Sportset for almost a year now. It’s my favorite gym so far. The equipments are perfect for what I need. The atmosphere is great and friendly and the people there are polite and welcoming and not crowding the machines. The staff is friendly and they know everyone and will take care of members if anything is needed. Overall an excellent place to workout and exercise with plenty of classes for biking, pilates, kickboxing and other sports. Highly recommended!

I started frequenting this gym on the advice of a friend who said the people there were nice. Well today one of their staff, Deb, felt the need to insult my threads, in front of other staff and patrons, when I refused to purchase clothing in the front of the gym. I said I just ordered a box of Shein and her response to me was that those clothes unravel easily - basically that Shein clothes are cheap and fall apart easily. Now everyone is entitled to their opinion but if you have nothing nice to say please keep your comments to yourself. Especially when you're insulting a customer. Even more so when some of the clothes there look exactly like items I've seen on Shein. Buys 'em and marks it up. So not only does she think I'm cheap but also stupid for not noticing. Smh. I'd like an apology.

The membership desk gave me misleading information. After COVID, they said that with my membership, I could participate in all of the off-peak classes. A year later, they informed me that I was not allowed to participate and vehemently denied their previous statement. POOR business!👎

UPDATE: After speaking to Janet at the customer service desk, she adamantly denied that anyone could have given me that information. I have been a member since before COVID and at that time my membership only included the YOGA and Silver Sneakers classes. I had been taking those classes all along. Once COVID was over and they told me that I could now take any of the off-peak classes, I made sure to confirm my understanding because that had not been the case before COVID. It was a big deal to me that they changed their policy. I could not possibly have been mistaken about such a huge change. Again she just denied any such information. Fortunately for me, my health insurance allows me to join other fitness clubs which have more frequent and much better classes and more amenities for the same as I was paying for Sportset Health & Fitness Club. It is so disappointing that she couldn't even admit that she was mistaken and accidentally gave me the wrong information. I haven't been treated with such blatant discrimination since I was in elementary school over 60 years ago. (Although I am aware that they had one black trainer in their employ)

I purchased several sessions for group yoga. The process was easy via Groupon. The front desk staff is very helpful, polite and friendly. The classes are amazing and terrific for any level of experience.
As for the gym itself, it is nest, clean and orderly. Lots of space and equipment, including trainers.

I was a member here about 15 years ago but then moved away from the area. Now I live in Rockville Centre again and after exploring the plethora of gym facilities in the area, it was a no brainer to join Sportset again. The gym is immaculate, completely redone with new equipment, still reasonably priced, and not mobbed like some other gyms. The fitness director and salesman Tommy was amazing to work with as well. Awesome gym and I highly recommend. I’m almost scared to post such a good review because I don’t want this place to get too busy. But it’s awesome. Git it peeps! 👊🏻💪🏻

Enjoyed a 30day experience at SportSet. They get good marks for cleanliness, variety of equipment/classes and staff friendliness. Equipment is spaced a bit tighter than in most gyms, however the building itself was not originally designed for use as a gym - more likely a warehouse that was retrofitted. Thus, every inch is used as efficiently as possible. Like any gym, equipment maintenance is always a challenge. In this case, the (5) Life Fitness Model X Cross trainers. A recent personal focus has been cardio performance / endurance on elliptical equipment. In this case, heartrate BPS sensors are not working on 4 of the 5 units and all 5 are running outdated firmware. The manager was grateful for bringing this to his attention and I provided a detailed document breaking out the specific system S/Ns and issues. With heartrate stats absent from saved workout data on the Cross Trainers (via Bluetooth connection) important cardio performance and self-improvement metrics are compromised. Also, grips on many systems need inspection and attention (a common problem).
If you don't need or want a "mega-gym" give SportSet a shot.

The only other issue is parking in Rockville Centre - a horror show, which, the village chooses to do nothing about. Read all signs and beware lest you be ticketed.

Stopped in from out of town, and the day pass was a very reasonable $15. Front desk staff was very professional and courteous. Nice gym with everything you need for a great workout, but I specifically chose a slow time (10am) and I'm glad I did because with just a few people it can get crowded in a hurry. Great gym! Tried a few classes such as In the Zone, Barre, RVC Ryde and Yoga and loved them all. The staff and instructors are so kind and welcoming. It seems like the instructors really enjoy what they do. They clearly put in a lot of effort into their classes and the sequences they come up with (Special shoutout in no particular order to Tommy, Caroline, Jane, Gianna, and Gail!) The classes were all challenging in a fun way and I felt better after doing each and every one of them. I haven’t used the gym itself but it seems like it has everything you would need. A variety of gym machines, TRX, punching bags, several rooms for different classes, locker rooms, steam rooms, a smoothie bar and some sports courts. Everything seems to be cleanly and well-maintained too. Would definitely recommend this place!

Sportset is everything that I could want in a local gym. Excellent multi-purpose facilities, superb staff, and Come Together Yoga is phenomenal. I have to give a shout out to Tre and Mike for their excellence and care for the studio. I would never have guessed that a fitness club would have one of the best yoga studios I have been to.

As far as the machines and services - they are top notch in my opinion. The treadmills and stair masters always work whenever I am around, and I am not light by any means. The weight machines are also maintained with extreme quality - not once have I had a broken or dirty machine!

The staff here is also very accommodating towards people with special needs. They help you with any paperwork for OPWDD branches that you may be apart of, such as ISS or Citizen's Options. I can't stress how thankful I am for this service!

Overall the gym is phenomenal, and I do not have any criticisms towards it. I'd definitely give it a shot, especially if you're a local!

I love Sportset. I’m not a full time member. I go intermittently to use their racquetball court for an hour. I’m so happy they have them!! There are three. It’s a great place with so much to offer, classes, equipment, and a basketball court as well. Sportset Health & Fitness Club is a pretty good gym. It has all sorts of good equipment to help people with their body improvement. And I personally like using the basketball court. The hoop itself is at a good height. A good way to work on free throws. But other than that I really enjoy working out here. 👍🏾

Sportsset is an incredible gym! Love the atmosphere, equipment selection, community of health conscious members, parking and delicious shakes and smoothies. I am a fitness professional and have been a member of various gyms for the past 20 years, sportset is definitely in my top five of all time! I highly recommend you join.

It’s a wonderful community gym. Whether your single or have a family, there’s a personalized experience for you and your kids, that I have only encountered in this gym over the last 10 years. Alway professional & accommodating regardless of who you are. I love it here; and have missed it greatly since moving a few weeks ago.

I love all the senior classes. the Senior Functional Fit as well as the Yoga class, they both push me to be the best that I can be. The staff is exceptional.
