Great community, they buy cheap equipment though and dont have much variety, owner is also very pretentious ,and im allergic to dogs and he was just letting his roam free around the gym. Fine gym for if you need somewhere close, but your better off going to your local YMCA

About 2 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes having a very high a1c and was put on insulin. I decided to get coaching from Will at Dunamis to help get my health in a better spot. Will put me on a comprehensive plan that was tailored to my personal goals and worked closely with me to help me achieve them. Throughout the process Will made constant adjustments based on my results and comprehensively explained why we are doing certain things in ways I would understand. With Will's coaching I was able to get off of insulin and reduce my a1c back into a normal range!
Since attending Dunamis for over two years I have only had positive experiences with the owners Will and Chris, other Dunamis staff, and other members of the gym. The members there vary greatly in age and experience but everyone there works hard which is very motivating!

I've been coming to Dunamis for coming up on a year. The coaches are approachable and very helpful. I appreciate that Will took the time and offered to work with me 1-1 to help with an injury. The classes are challenging but definitely doable. And the community is amazing!

I think it is imperative that I start by saying that I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis, so if you have a serious chronic illness/disease or injury, please read this. I have spent the last several years terrified of my body and afraid for my future because MS is progressive. I have been in pain for years with muscle spasms, joint erosion and, at times, weakness and limb paralysis from the MS. I’ve fallen and lost options in my nursing career due to mobility and endurance issues.
I started personal training with Will in Feb 2024 in an attempt to get my life back and it has saved me – not just my physical health but also my mental health. As I expect anyone with a chronic progressive disease would be, I have my days where it feels like my world is falling down around me but overall, I have more control over my body again. Will has helped me develop muscle strength, balance and stability and is helping me to develop trust in myself. Will has been incredibly supportive and validating. If I am experiencing a symptom or set back in my disease, he can validate it during our sessions and show me how to change what I am doing to accommodate that issue safely while still trying to strengthen that area and not lose progress.
I also want to say that Will is incredibly knowledgeable of my conditions but what he doesn’t know well, he educates himself on in order to provide me the best care possible. I have worked with Chris as well, and while he is a Bengals fan, I guess I can forgive him of that for being a great trainer. Will and Chris are very supportive, they meet you where you are currently in regards to your nutrition and physical abilities while building you a plan to crush your goals and build strength. They make it fun to go to the gym and are genuinely happy to see you show up every day. I had the privilege to work with Carter as well who was so kind and motivating. While I haven’t had the opportunity to work with all of the trainers there, those I have had encounters with will go out of their way to give you encouragement and kudos.
Lastly, they have Dr. Steve - an in-house Physical Therapist here. They work together closely to help prevent injury and treat actual issues. I can’t praise them enough for what they do day in and day out and for how much they have helped me. You just have to do the work and show up to the gym every time. If you are on the fence – just go do a consultation! You won’t regret investing in them and yourself!

I had a million excuses, too. I’m a mom of two toddlers, a wife, a full-time corporate something-or-other, and somewhere I have to find time to clean and sleep. I have no time for myself as it is, let alone a gym regimen. I was unmotivated, overweight, lackluster, and over it. So finally, I answered one of the sponsored ads, had a phone call with some gym bro who said he’d keep me accountable, and then I showed up at 6 a.m. on the last Monday of the month. And that was the last time I said “tomorrow, next week, in the new year.” I showed up the next day, and then every class that week. And then I didn’t miss a class for four months. That gym bro turned out to be Coach Chris. He and Coach Will (read: nutrition and discipline extraordinaire) are respectful, motivating, and friendly, but also no-nonsense. They genuinely care about every person who walks through the door. They know your name. But the incredible coaches are just the beginning. The community of people at this gym made all the difference for me. When I show up at 6 a.m., I’m showing up for them, too, just like they are for me. The idea that I couldn’t possibly make time for myself transformed into the empowerment that I was able to give myself an hour every morning that was just for me. And man, did it pay off. In four months, I lost 25 pounds of fat, self-doubt, and lame excuses. That would sell me, too, reader, but what I’ve gained is even more impressive: I’ve doubled my strength in everything from benching to barbell back squats. I have true friends I wouldn’t have met anywhere else. I learned healthy eating habits. I’m the most fit I’ve been in my life. My kids notice, and tell me they want to join me. My friends and family saw my body and my mental health change, and asked me my secret—It’s nothing trendy, or easy, or a shot. It’s discipline, dedication, and direction, and you can find it all at Dunamis.

I just completed 6 months since joining Dunamis. Joining has been the best decision I have made. I not only feel stronger and healthier, but also part of a welcoming community of people. This a true fitness community that is welcoming, supportive, and motivating! I have completely (& finally) changed my mindset—focusing on strength, movement, and body composition rather than just "weight" loss, yoyo diets and cardio. I look forward to every workout- and its nice when people know you by name and care! I’ll never go back to the YMCA, PF or a Spin class ever again! What better way to start off your workout than to be greeted by name by one of the owners of the gym, which goes to show the tight knit and welcoming community that the coaches have built here. Though relatively small in comparison to the commercial gyms they make the best possible use of the space with a wide variety of equipment that covers any exercise you could think of. I truly couldn’t think of a gym that I’d rather be a member of than Dunamis.

***ONE YEAR UPDATE!!!!! LOVE IT THERE STILL!!!****(Original 2 month review: I wish I found this place two years ago. It's a group of mostly women in their 40s that meet at 6:00 in the morning for strength training sessions. I have noticedly gotten stronger but I do wish that the app they used would calculate calories burned. The app they use is absolutely amazing though for tracking your progress. The trainers are really good and help correct when you are not postured correctly. I feel like I don't have to dress up to go to the gym as it is a very comfortable environment.)

I’ve been going to Dunamis almost 4 months now. I was looking for a gym willing to work with my constraints. I have 6 herniated discs between my lumbar and cervical spine, have had two back surgeries and doing everything I can to prevent neck surgery. I spent years trying to walk normal again and get to a point I could even do basic cardio. I thought lifting with all my constraints would be an impossible task but thanks to StrengthedTrained - Dunamis, I am not only lifting but breaking barriers, strengthening my neck and spine, improving my heart health, improving my lung function and able to perform day to day tasks that historically would put me flat for a week or more. In less than three months I was able to come off a diuretic blood pressure med that I’ve been trying to come off of for ten years. The coaches, all of them, work with me, tweaking any exercises that may be irritating my back or neck, implement an alternative exercise with the goal of working towards reintroducing the original once I’ve built enough strength up. This has been critical to why I’m improving and exceeding my own expectations week after week. They challenge me, they listen, they don’t dismiss but always seek to meet me where I’m at and strategize to get me where I want to go. I’m exceedingly grateful for all the help, effort, and especially the encouragement I receive each class. I’m not one who can thrive in a critical atmosphere. But Dunamis is the perfect balance of encouragement, pushing and challenging me but in a positive atmosphere that I can grow in. Thank you to the staff for all your help! I’m excited to see myself a year from now! If you’re looking for a place where you can thrive and grow physically and mentally, this is the place to go!

Fantastic gym, people and program. There were questions answered that I didn't even ask which was highly appreciated. I felt very welcomed and comfortable at the consult and all the correspondence I had with them. Trainer Will was very professional, informative and a great support for the short time I was with him. I unfortunately decided to not join due to the cost but that won’t stop me from recommending it to folks. (Though it would change my star rating *wink wink*)

This is the first gym I’ve been to where I can feel confident when I’m there. First of all the staff is absolutely amazing. They are all super helpful, motivating and supportive, while still pushing you enough to do better for yourself. They also help you get better results by teaching you how to correct your form, use equipment appropriately and being available to help at any point in the workout. The group workout options are perfect because you can get support from your peers and they help keep you motivated. It’s nice to go to a place where the staff knows you by name, and you can feel welcomed at any fitness level.

This is a great gym for anyone, at any age or fitness level. The owners are welcoming, as are the members. I found a lot of benefit in personal training sessions and would recommend the investment to anyone willing to try. The class times are great and convenient around your schedule. My experience at Dunamis has been one of growth and exceeding expectations. I have learned that I can do more than I expected, and exceed that by a lot! I have learned that working out can be fun if done in different ways that are truly enjoyable! I’m not a runner by any means, but i LOVE to weight lift-who wouldve thought?! John and Will have been so supportive of my journey, being encouraging when need be but also giving me the push when needed as well. Every few weeks I surpass my previous PR’s. Any failures have been because of MY lack of committment certain weeks, but as they say, each day is new! This gym is run by two very knowledgeable and dedicated trainers who both take the time to do very in-depth workout plans for its members. They are always available to help and their goal is to provide the most effective strength and cardio workouts to transform you into the strongest, healthiest version of yourself that you can be. They are also very community oriented always reaching out to assist Ogden/Spencerport residents. Been training there for two weeks now, after spending most of 2020 sedentary due to the pandemic. It's been a tough challenge getting back into fitness but John and Will have done a great job creating and coaching a comprehensive program designed to work out and shape the entire body. The gym is clean, there's plenty of equipment, the trainers are great, and the atmosphere is very positive for working towards whatever fitness goals you may have!

I have been a member of this gym for about 3 years now. Wow 3 years. When it comes to health and exercise the longest I have ever stuck with anything is about 3 weeks. When I joined I had already given up on my health and accepted my lot in life. I was fortunate enough to hear the owners speak at a charity event and there message resonated with me. Even when I called them I was like "hey I am almost 50 and about 340 pounds and I understand if I am not the type of client you are looking for". They welcomed me in and set me on the right track. The easy part is all I have to do is show up. The routines are created and the inspiration from other clients push you through every work out. I could not even do a push up when I started and now I can rock out 10/15/20 like it is my job. I can deadlift 335 pounds and I am on my way to benching 300 this year. I just turned 50 and I am stronger than I have ever been in my life and it is a true testament to the trainers, routines written for me and other members of the gym that have become lifelong friends. One of the owners told me on my first day "If you can make it through the first two weeks you will never quit". TRUTH!

This gym is helping me strengthen my body everyday. I see vast improvements in a short amount of time and I am in awe. They give you a different workout to follow each session which really helps strengthen new muscles and areas you didn’t know were weak. I have multiple injuries and a compression which Will, John, & Chris have all been incredibly accommodating and understanding about. I never feel like I’m being pushed too hard but I'm also given workouts that target those specific areas which challenge my body to get better and stronger with each workout. I feel like a much more confident and empowered person everyday and I have them to thank. When I first started I couldn’t even use the bar for squats and now I'm using the bar and adding weights. Each week I add more weight and it’s really encouraging. As someone who has never used equipment before I'm feeling more confident everyday. Their dedication and vast knowledge of the human body makes this gym a place like no other. Truly I’m thankful to have Dunamis in Rochester. Thank you for everything and I look forward to getting those beginner gains 💪🏻.

My husband and I needed to lose weight and start working out again, Chris and Will were referred to us so we went and met with them. What made us decide to join and since then is that they REALLY know their stuff and they listen; we are in our 50's and don't want to run marathons but want to be fit and flexible. Strength-Trained Dunamis totally fits us; it's smaller and personal attention, showing you how to workout properly and always encouraging you to meet your realistic goals. Besides their knowledge of fitness, nutrition and how the body works, you always leave feeling like you can do this and totally supported. The biggest compliment I can give is that my husband has never officiallly "worked out" in his life and now he enjoys going to the group sessions and even goes without me:-) Dunamis encourages you to be a healthy, physically fit person without lecturing or unrealistic goals, they listen to YOU and what you want to achieve! The trainers at Dunamis are amazing! They take the time to figure out what you are looking to achieve from your workouts, then help you reach those goals! After a previous injury I was in pain when I excised and was unable to lift much weight. The trainers not only helped me gain my strength and mobility back, but I am no longer in pain when I workout!! By far the best gym I've ever been a part of!!
