God Be Praised, I am very pleased with my dojo. I have come back to Karate after a while and all the great attention to details I get from my Senseis and my Senpei is absolutely very important in my Karate growth. My Teachers here are very very patient with me, and I'm ever so grateful to God for this. Sumisu Dojo gives us an environment where I learn and improve everyday. This is a blessing. In todays world martial arts has been overshadowed by MMA and combat sports. It is great to see a place that offers the true concept of martial arts. Mind, Body, Spirt and Discipline is what you will learn from this Dojo. Keeping to the roots of true Okinawan karate.

We not only teach the Isshin ryu Karate template, we love and enjoy training all aspects of the system as taught by our instructors. Admittedly, the training is not for everyone, but those who truly want to learn self defense, Sumisu is for you.

I trained in Isshin Ryu Karate as a teen, and left a little before college. 20+ years later, I wish I never left. After having been back since January, I’m losing weight, gaining strength and many of my aches and pains from my desk job are going away. My mental state is also much better. I studied under Sensei Joe when I was younger, who is the head instructor, and Sensei Tom the owner, are both great teachers, and help keep me focused every class. Many of the students are higher ranked belts, so there is plenty of knowledge and ability going around. Students from all walks of life are there. It’s definitely worth stopping by to find out what Sumisu Dojo and Isshin Ryu is all about.
