As a Baldwin alumni returning to visit family and friends, I’m currently considering moving back from out of state & wanted to see the new changes done here from the last time I left 5+ years ago to possibly sign up with my siblings, with one of them currently active in the Baldwin FD. Online they offering a free day pass, I figured since this is my home town I’d bump into one of the nice lady’s I used to see or one of my old high school friends I knew that used to worked there from the times I used to go when I was around that can help me set that up in person, but I came across some man with an aggressive vibe who did not let me even get the chance to talk or explain my current situation or even get the chance to talk about the new layout, he tried to hustle me to pay $20 for the day and $10 right after. Immediately I was completely uninterested and didn’t want to even mention the free day pass and kept quiet and walked out. As a professional athletic trainer & business owner with 7+ years in multiple fields with prioritizing the best possible treatment to ensure everyone is handled properly always, how I was handled is embarrassing & unacceptable.

Just wanted to share a very positive first impression of Synergy Baldwin. Was greated by Robert at the front desk who was extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeble and welcoming. He gave me a tour of the facility which was clean, well kept and organzied. Large space lots of boutique studios, group fitness, spin, yoga, a great variety of well maintained equipment. I love this gym! I have tried others and this is my favorite so far! I love the classes. The instructions are amazing. So far I’ve had Patti and Val, and they are super. I just came back after a few years and I got a free trainer session with Val. I was afraid at first bc I’m not looking for a trainer right now… but she was AMAZING and gave me a lot of helpful tips and DID NOT pressure me into training at all.

Very unhappy with the way this gym handled things when I wanted to end my subscription. They dragged out the process which resulted in me having to pay for an extra month and the refused to remove the charge. No attempt to work with me to end things on a positive note. If you have any problems here, be prepared for the manager and people behind the desk to suddenly become bureaucratic robots. There are so many gyms around, give it some real thought before signing on with this one.

Best decision I made leaving my boring cooperate franchise gym to Synergy in Baldwin. The staff are very personable and professional. The member fees are reasonable and includes spin classes, Zumba, Pilates, yoga, Sauna, an amazing hydro bed and a few other awesome classes. I’m part of the Synergy family! I recently joined from another gym and when I stepped in I knew these were my people. Val and Clascy welcomed me like long-time friends and they were genuinely glad I came! The gym is amazing with a variety of equipment to push my fitness goals. My PT, Rex is the man. We’ll be getting after those gains with the diversity of stuff we can do at Synergy. Let’s get crazy Rex—haha! The great thing about this place is there’s something for everyone. They believe POSTING the gym rules is enough. There are guys walking around with no shirts on, people in jeans, crocs, it's a free-for-all. An employee told me confidentially that they don't get paid enough to enforce the rules. This leaves rule-abiding members screwed.

I used to live in Baldwin before I purchased my home in Atlantic Beach, but I always used to pass by Synergy and wonder what it was all about. Today, I'm glad that I finally joined.

Let me say, before I get into this review, that I was a member of Retro Fitness in Oceanside for nearly 2 years. Though the gym left much to be desired, we'd become a bit of a community in there, so I stuck it out. Unfortunately, due to a situation that I will not repeat here (because I refuse to truck in the muck that certain people wallowed in), I canceled my membership and was in the market for a new one.

There were plenty of options near Atlantic Beach, to be sure, but I didn't find it necessary to spend hundreds of dollars a month for a membership (I'm bougie, not stupid). Finally, I remembered Synergy and decided to sign up. (The connection to my old home also helped guide my compass along.)

I must say: easy sign-up process, HUGE gym (twice the size of Retro Oceanside), VERY clean (don't get me started on how filthy Oceanside was), and the staff is VERY professional (ditto). Steve greeted me with a smile and a fist-bump and gave me a nice tour of the facility, plus showed me how to access the gym on my phone. The vibe from the people is also SUPER friendly - nobody puts on airs or is a juice head.

I'm really looking forward to continuing my fitness journey with Synergy. Sometimes, you CAN go home again. Thanks to Synergy for welcoming me home. :)

Just started back to the gym a few months back and I have to say I’m impressed. Synergy in Baldwin is amazing. The staff goes over and above to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. The place in my estimation is spotless, (remember this is a GYM with hundreds of people using the facility daily) and the custodial staff is non stop cleaning, disinfecting, replacing weights, and picking up after what others leave behind. The equipment is plentiful, and in great condition and well maintained. The members are friendly and for the most part respectful of others. There are plenty of trainers who are always willing to give you a tip or two just for the asking with no strings attached. Thank you Synergy, for providing a safe clean environment for me to train in, “JOB WELL DONE.” … “💪💪💪💪💪”

SIX MONTHS REVIEW: It’s now been six months (January 15th - July 15th 2023) since I became a member of Synergy Baldwin, and most commonly it’s when people begin to complain about this or that. But the truth is this gym is awesome. There are 0 complaints here. I highly recommend Synergy Baldwin for anyone who just wants to get in better shape, or for those who are seriously committed. Staff is courteous and helpful, the custodial staff takes pride in the cleanliness and neatness, the trainers are helpful at all stages, from beginners to professionals. I especially appreciate being greeted upon entering and when I leave. The equipment is well maintained, and it seems like they are always doing some renovations and improvements to make your time there more efficient, and accommodating for its many new members. Was a member for 10+ years. Purchased multiple personal training sessions. Due to a bad back, often had to cancel last minute. Had 3 foot surgeries starting 5/31/22. Disability, no work. Had my membership placed on "Medical Hold". I did not know that the "Annual Membership Fee of $49" would be billed.Surprised by the bill. Also I no longer live near the Baldwin gym. Asked to get the fee waived. Told no, cannot do this. Told just finished paying off Covid-related bills in excess of $200,000. WELL: I had no work for nearly a year and have trouble working. I dislike being billed for any service I do not use in 1 year + because I did not know I had to submit a "Cancellation" in writing. NOTE: there are marketing materials throughout the gym: Refer one friend, save $5 off Membership. Refer 2 friends: save $10 off membership & receive a free bicycle. I guess my $49 partially helped to pay for a free bicycle. Good to know.

I have been a member of this gym for the past 10 years and the recent improvements of the sauna hydro massage and new equipment makes me want to continue my journey to keep in shape. The staff is friendly and the cleaning people try and keep the place spotless. All I can say is great job. The one piece of equipment that I want to see back is the peck deck hopefully in the near future they bring that back. I have read other reviews and if the members were respectful of the gym and putting back equipment all would be good.

I’ve been going to this gym for over a year. As the budget has obviously increased the cleanliness has decreased drastically as well as the organization. No handles are put back in the right spots, no weights put in the right places, dumbbells left in random spots. Today I went to go use a bench and I couldn’t even find a plate, I had to go into the leg room. Some benches and racks are left bar-less. The sign up price is $27 where it feels like it should be $10 max.

Look at all the one Star reviews and you will see that most of us have the same complaint in common: Synergy Fitness Baldwin has unethical business practices when it comes your money.
I called January 2022 and explained that we had a family tragedy and I need to cancel my account. I was told they would put a 4 month hold on my account with no charges because hopefully by then I would want to come back. Fine. EXCEPT: Synergy continued to charge me the monthly fees AND the trainer fees. I called back. I was told I would be reimbursed and my account would no longer be charged. LIE. I was continually chard 2x monthly fee AND trainer fee. Over the course of 9 months and 5 calls I finally went in person to cancel, filed with the NY State's attorney and called my bank. Still waiting for my refund. They owe me $$$. Unscrupulous and unprofessional. The only reason I let it go so long is because my friend knows the owner. And let's not forget to mention the hole in the ceiling panel over the ladies shower.
It's unfortunate because I really liked the classes and my trainer. I would have considered going back if they weren't lying thieves. Check out YELP, too. Lots of the same types of reviews.

For the Baldwin location this is probably the best option to lift weights and workout. They got classes as well. Great package for what you pay. The dumbells recently were replaced and new equipment added as well

I use to love this gym for one reason, John the personal trainer. John was unrightfully let go. After buying sessions and spending a lot of money FOR JOHN the gym refuse to give my money back and want me to train with there other "trainers". I have been working with John a long time and he is the best. Will follow him anywhere. Other than that, some friendly staff but management needs to be fixed for sure.

I chose poor quality because it closely describes my dilema with Synergy gym. I suffered a labral tear and broke my right foot within a 2 month period. When I tore my labral around my hip , I called Synergy in balwin to cancel my membership. They told me that I would have to go in person to cancel my membership. A couple of weeks ago I broke my right foot and I noticed that synergy fitness in baldwin is still charging my account. I called Synergy and explained that i am on disability and that it is very hard for me to get around. Their response was that I could send my wife or daughter to cancel my membership. The woman I spoke to had no empathy or understanding of my situation. Why should my wife or daughter be burdened with my situation. Bad enough we live over 25 miles from the gym. What kind of heartless and unsympathetic people are running this gym. I regret ever joining this gym . In fact I warn anybody who is thinking of joining a gym , steer clear from synergy fitness in Baldwin. It is easy to join but they make it almost impossible to cancel a membership.

Reasonable membership fees, great personal trainers, up beat enthusiast owner, greats you with a smile every time you attend, very clean facility, plenty of product to sanitize the equipment. Lots of machines & weights to build you strength or muscles. Convenient hours . A slew of extra classes.

I have been disgusted and beyond disappointed with Baldwin Synergy Club, in the past two years this gym have been taking MONEY out of my account monthly even after I have canceled. I have put a Freud claim on my account and synergy have REACVITVED my account with them without my AUTORIZATION. I am going to go above and beyond and bring this place down, they are unbelievable !!! PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO HACK YOUR ACCOUNT AND CONTINUE TO CHARGE YOU WITHOUT YOUR APPROVAL.

BE AWARE of this location and management. During the pandemic when gyms were closed the membership fee's were frozen, which was standard policy for most gyms. When they re-opened they started to generate the auto pay we set up. My wife became sick with Covid and we decided to cancel the membership. I spoke to several employee's & management at the Baldwin location and they either promised they had canceled the membership and our account would not be charged. They said we would receive an email confirming the completion of the cancelation. For three months our card was charged. I made a personal appearance at the location and a manager said "we don't accept cancelations in person, we have to write a registered letter to another location to close the account. read the fine print in the contract". Who reads the fine print in a Gym contract! I belong to another gym and cancelling is as easy as calling on the phone.
So now they have received $105.00 for a membership to be cancelled, which we paid.
We complied with the request and sent a registered letter. A month later the payments ceased.
Now 6 months later I received a collection notice for $51.00. These people are absolute crooks. Believe me it's not the $51.00 it's the ineptitude of the management. Not good business practices.
