Broken machines, messy and dirty. Televisions are off or missing completely. More broken equipment and no working air conditioning! Everything is broken or dirty and dusty.

So badly want to give a good review but they don't let me. Every single day the morning employee is late, you ask any question, and act like she does not speak English. Why have a 5am opening time when you NEVER open at that time and an employee who doesn't even try to fix the issue.

Its dirty as hell and has no AC on the top floor in summer. Also to note i've been trying to cancel my membership for a while now and the email gets sent to a SLANDER email. Do what you want with that information but me personality would'nt go back EVER.

This is possibly the worst gym and management I have ever encountered. The owners are discourteous, and they hire new staff who harass long-standing members. The staff appear unprofessionalβ€”more like hired goons than fitness professionals.

I personally witnessed them harass a nurse who drives a yellow car resembling an old taxi. This nurse, who performs heroic work daily and was especially vital during COVID, was disrespected without cause. One staff member even followed him to his car and said, β€œYou’re a taxi driver. My boss drives a hundred-thousand-dollar car. Your membership will be revoked and you are banned from coming here.”

This happened solely because of the color and appearance of his car. It was one of the most racist and absurd incidents I have ever seen.

There is no ac. It's 80+ degrees and humid, and the only ac is downstairs in which it putters out. It is so hard to work out in that heat in the gym. It's even worse with other people sweating. Then, the lady at the front desk, Angela, has a nasty attitude. When she doesn't want to do something, if you ask her, she makes it like she doesn't speak English. The only one who does anything is the cleaning lady. They now charge an extra fee once a year just to pocket. They have new used equipment that's already breaking. I hope someone better buys this gym.

Synergy Gym has become a huge disappointment. Almost every other machine is either out of service or barely functioning. The AC has been β€œunder service” for over a month now, and it’s only getting worse. It’s hot, uncomfortable, and feels like the management has completely given up. The lack of care for basic amenities is unacceptable. They seriously need to step up their gameβ€”or risk losing every member they have left.

Came back to change my previous review. I originally gave 5 stars in my original review, but I am very disappointed regarding the management's indifferent attitude. The low-light, dingy gym never bothered me; I am just disappointed because the few available equipments aren't being fixed when broken. I've gone to the front desk several times to complain about broken machines, and they thanked me for alerting them, assuring me it would be fixed ASAP. Months later, the same broken machines are still out of order. Very disappointing. It's not like they have several machines for members to substitute with. I hope management starts taking members' complaints more seriously and fixes their broken machines.

Do yourself a favor and choose literally any other gym.
Synergy Fitness NY has been the most disappointing experience β€” the staff is consistently rude and unprofessional. It’s not worth your time, money, or energy. There are so many better gyms out there that actually care about their members. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

Extremely Disappointed with Synergy Fitness in Franklin Square

I’m beyond frustrated with my experience at Synergy Fitness, and I want to warn others about the terrible service and unethical practices here. After canceling my membership, I was sent to collections without any notice.

To cancel, I followed their process and sent a certified letter to a PO Box, which in itself was inconvenient and just another way for them to make it difficult to cancel. They make it as hard as possible so people either give up or end up paying for an extra month, which is exactly what happened to me. I was charged an additional month after I followed their cancellation process.

But that’s just the beginning. The machines at this gym were constantly broken, and on top of that, there was a serious issue with harassment. There were men constantly hitting on women, and it got to the point where I felt unsafe. One man was even following me around the gym. I reported this to the front desk, but they did absolutely nothing about it.

Now, after being sent to collections, I’ve been harassed by their staff. The people who called me from Synergy were incredibly rude, unprofessional, and even hung up on me when I tried to explain the situation. This whole experience has been a nightmare, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I’ve been telling everyone I know to avoid Synergy Fitness. If you want to avoid the risk of being sent to collections after you cancel your membership or dealing with harassment, this is not the gym for you. The owner should be held accountable for these practices, and honestly, they should be sued for their treatment of customers.

I strongly advise anyone considering signing up to think twice. Save yourself the stress and find a gym that actually values its members.

It was very easy to sign with this gym on site. However, they give you a hard time to cancel the membership. You cannot do it onsite. You must write a letter which they do not tell you when signing up. Even after I sent the letter, they kept on withdrawing money. Do not do it, very dishonest company.

I was a member here and during the covid-19 shutdown I decided to cancel my membership. NY state law says all gym memberships can be canceled by phone, and so I called and requested a cancelation of my membership. They did not accept my cancelation by phone, charged me for another month and finally I had to send my cancelation via certified mail. Unlawful business practices, poor building maintenance like rain water leaking in the main gym, and crooked management...avoid at all costs

This gym is the worst. When my credit card expired and the gym was shut down during covid I was consistently getting charged without my knowledge. Due to the lack of payments they went to collections and I had to owe a large amount of money. Worthless gym. Everything is always broken, leaking, or missing. Take your money elsewhere. Getting your membership canceled is also a hassle so save yourself the time and don't sign up at all.

The service of this gym has gone down hill, i’ve been a member for over 12 years. The hours are shortened especially on holidays. Which ruins my workout routine. They don’t even always post the adjusted gym hours so you’ll probably waste your time going around holidays, i guess they assume we’re all mind readers and know when they’ll open late and close early lol. The gym is just not kept well anymore, machines broken, equipment missing or hard to use because pieces or the foam cushion is missing. The gym is very dusty and dirty with creatures now visible in the basement. Holes in the wall and ceilings. The only reason i stay is because it’s convenient but i have been gym shopping for other gyms close by because it’s just too frustrating at this point.

If I could give a zero, I would. Bathrooms are distgusting. You probably have 5 tredmills to choose from out of the 15. Saturday you close at 7? Sundays at 3? You are competing with gyms that are open way longer than this one, nonetheless 24 hours, and you can't even extend the hours? I am not insisting on a 24 hour gym, even though it was pre-covid, but at least extend your weekend hours. This is not a gym in my eyes. Terrible.

Place has become poorly maintained with most treadmills inoperable and tv monitors that are dust collectors. Men's room has one clogged sink...you told me 2 months ago that you were correcting these problems... WELL that never happened, the place is worse!!

UPDATE!!!! Glad to know someone read this review and has done a lot in 2 weeks. The men's room faucet now works and several new treadmills has been implemented. Thank you management, you members appreciate it. 3/23

Avoid and do not do business with!! been trying over two months to cancel membership. Walked in to sign up, I was told to put it in writing send certified. Did this, still have reoccurring charge on my credit card. Charges are being disputed people at the synergy desk are useless robots repeating same cancelation process. Westpark fitness inc Corp. who apparently is the holding people for this gym no address no phone number.., now involving an attorney, launching an investigation and have contacted the Better Business Bureau! very bad business for the community.
ADDENDUM TO YOUR RESPONSE:
Attempts to meet management resulted in unreturned phone calls.
You sent a stereotypical response that you have sent to all the other bad reviews and all the other complaints about hard-working people trying to get their moneys back for canceled membership. I am very well aware of the contract I signed and have complied with everyone of your cancellation policies you have still unsuccessfully responded and or canceled membership. You can now deal with my attorney and the Better Business Bureau

Addendum 2/1/ 2024 STILL refuse to cancel my daughters membership claiming they never received certified letters twice they requested. Sent my minor daughter a letter threatening collections...true criminals destroying credit of minors before they establish credit. Retained an attorney! disgusting business bad for our community!

I've been a member for 15+years and nothing has changed. Except the hours. This was a 24 hour gym pre-covid. Why haven't the hours changed back? Weekends are shorter hours as well. Extended hours would be a good start. Your lack of customer satisfaction being first priority as previously mentioned is not a priority for this place at all. Machines are always broken and countless complaints to the front desk nothing gets fixed. The only change after countless complaints was they removed the machine. One way to take care of the problem. It gets better, this place will give a free skylight with black toxic mold with your membership. When it rains outside it rains inside free of charge should be on the contract. It's a shame the potential is there but accountable and a commitment to their business is not. Don't join this gym.

Equipment is constantly broken and literally takes months to fix. Half of the treadmills are broken or not suitable for use. They can't afford to buy some damn pins for the weights, so you have to run around trying to find pins. I only go here because it's close by for me.

Good equipment, but I hope you never need to cancel your membership because that's when your nightmare will begin. they do EVERYTHING to make it difficult to cancel. They require you to send a registered letter by post and you still have to wait another 30 days for full cancellation and in the meantime you continue paying. in addition to saying that he did not receive the registered letter. I had to send 2 registered letters requesting cancellation and during this period of 3 months they charged me the monthly fee, not to mention that when registering they did not warn that there would be a fee of 50 dollars after 3 months. In short, I went to this gym for 2 days and I have to pay 4 months of membership on top of this $50 fee. But your nightmare isn't over yet, send your name to a collections company that treats you with so much contempt and makes several threats. If you don't lose weight from running, expect that you will lose weight from stress.

I had been a synergy franklin square fitness customer for 10+ years. In january 2023 my debit card was replaced due to fraud. subsequently, The gym did not receive payment for four months. The gym never called me, The gym never sent me a letter. The gym closed my account and sent me to collections. Only after several attempts did i speak with the gym manager, who had no answers on this matter. The total collection amount was erroneous. I submitted payment for the missing months and wrote a dispute letter, but the collection agency is still looking for an additional $89 but they have no person in their company to speak with. Synergy is not a business that i would recommend to others

As of 2023, Reducing to 2 Stars. A lot has changed since COVID. Folks are friendly, but I see no improvement to the facility. Mats in the basement room are gone, this means you can't stretch etc. The place feels backward now. Synergy needs to up their game.

On top of that, their cancellation process is terrible that you got to mail-in letter using registered mail

Originally I did 4 Stars - I love this gym, but this isn't 24 hours technically. Opens 5:30am on Monday and Sat and Sun 6:30am and closes at 10pm on Sat and Sun.

My brother went to the gym for a couple months but decided to cancel it. The gym canceled it and told my mom to tell the bank. What they didn't tell her is that she had to send a letter to some headquarters to cancel it through there! My brother hasn't been to this gym in over a year yet they sent a bill to collections and has to pay over $300 in a bill... Didn't tell my mom anything and is now forced to pay a bill for a gym my brother no longer goes to. Never sign up for this gym unless you want to get scammed!

This gym is more of a high school hangout rather then a gym. Kids everywhere not using the weights or machines correctly. Mostly it's a selfy studio. At least if you want to call your self a gym keep your free weight area in control. Again kids throw the weights on the ground and refuse to put them back as mommy & Daddy must do at home. Come to think of it they don't call themselves a gym. To bad they don't even understand what synergy means, the "cooperation" of two or more to create a greater sum then their separate effects. Meaning all gym members come together to form a better gym. This is not the gym they were hoping for. It should be called the playpen! Avoid at all costs. But if you must go early and leave especially before detention class let's out and they show up with their phones and links to everything from "how to look stupid at the gym:, follow me at "disorderly while ignoring the rules" and "how I go to the gym everyday take great selfies and still I'm out of shape after two years".

I wish I could give negative stars, this was a COMPLETE and UTTER rip off. I joined the gym in December of 2021 with the promise that the "New renovated" gym across the street would be available the following month in January. They even had some fugasy pictures they showed me of the interior. It's November of 2022 and I haven't even seen people ENTER the "New" building to do any sort of work, let alone open. In fact nothing has changed about the building AT ALL. And to cancel you have to jump through hoops, sending letters and calling to see if the letter was received, etc. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT JOIN THIS "GYM."

Tried to cancel for over a year, sent in a certified letter several times and I'm still being charged $45.99. The staff is extremely unhelpful and every time I call its a brand new story of how me (the customer) didn't jump through enough hoops to ensure my membership was canceled, even though I call every few weeks with no resolve. Now after months of waiting I was told this morning I was to bring my receipt of my certified letter to the location to prove I canceled even though in the system it reflects as a cancelation. This is the worst experience, there's no corporate number but when they need their money they hounded me during the pandemic for back pay from a number which no longer works. Do NOT JOIN THIS GYM, YouTube is free and the customer service is so much better, the Hempstead location is trash any way.

Before COVID I was a member and then when things started to settle down somewhat Synergy was back charging my account monthly even though I was still not going back to the gym. They never reached out to see if people were ready to come back or not. After months passed and I was still being charged monthly gym fees, I finally went into the gym to cancel my membership and was told that I had to write a letter and send it certified mail to a PO Box. COVID was still an issue and I sent a letter but didn't mail it certified since I wasn't going to stores or places unnecessarily. I have now received a letter from a collections agency and they still want more money. How can a place give you a membership in person when you walk in, but they can not cancel your membership without making you jump through hoops. This whole process they have is just a way for them to keep charging your credit card.

As a business you should be ashamed of yourselves. Just know that I had to click on 1 star just to finish and post this when in reality Synergy doesn't deserve any stars. We have all gone through a time that no one could have ever anticipated and for you to have no regard to help your members is terrible.

This gym will literally rob you. Don't sign the contract, go elsewhere.

I was a member for a couple of years, didn't have any issues. The pandemic hit and they closed down from March 2020 - August 2020. The credit card I had on file expired in April 2020. Fast forward to May 2021, I received a letter from collections stating I owe close to $400. Synergy made absolutely NO attempt to contact me before ending up in collections, nor for an updated card info; instead they "brilliantly" charged my EXPIRED CARD since they've opened back. In fact, when I went in to dispute this, the first thing the front desk told me was my card was expired. When asked why I wasn't contacted to update my card info, they said it would be too tedious to call every individual member to get updated card info. So as a business, you thought it was a smart idea to charge an expired card for this long, knowing you wouldn't receive a payment? Mind you they have my phone number, email, and mailing address on file. The manager was just as useless as the employee and when I asked for a copy of the contract, the manager (Josh) said he'd email it to me. It's now June 30th, and that was requested in the first few weeks of this month. I had asked for a copy of the contract in person as well, and the person at front desk was going to give me someone else's contract with the person's INFORMATION ON IT. Name, address, and credit card details. I refused it.

Do yourself a favor and just don't. Take your business elsewhere.

It has a daycare, aerobic classes in a room bigger than I expected, and the machines are cleaned throughout the day. I don't know about the weight room below though, cause I do not use it. Also, I recommend the spinning class upstairs.

Great gym, tried a class called tone up with Harvey and all I can say is that the next day I was sore all over, but it was an awsome class and great people. Gym workers always say hello and I feel like the gym is quite clean. I would replace some of the workout equipment such as some of the bars and ropes to lift and pull, and I would also suggest making a membership for 2 people to use for alittle less than full price so more people can attend so what would be 60 for 2 can become 50. Overall I enjoy comming to this gym. Thank you Synergy!

Not sure what they use the yearly maintenance fees on. Alot of the machines are broken or in need of minor repairs. Didnt know i needed to bring my own allen keys in my gym bag.

Needs a few things but pretty much goes to the point...working out! . A lot of free parking spots. Restrooms are ok but not to take a shower, no sauna either. Free admission now which brings a lot people...other than that it will be a good place to train and relax the muscles.

Been here for a little over a year, they certainly have all the equipment you could want. But they do not enforce any rules as far as racking your weights and dumbbells, not cleaning equipment. You’ll find the 90lb dumbbells where the 40s should be and weights just not there cuz people walk away with them and don’t bring em back. Weights split up, and the weight stickers missing so good luck figuring out what weight dumbbell you’re picking up. Weight plates are just left on machines and all over the floor and end up accumulating in one area. No one bothers to take them off machines so you don’t know what to grab. And never see anyone wipe the benches down. I know it’s not the gym it self doing this, BUT if they were to enforce these basic principles of cleanliness and curteousness everyone can be happy. Besides that, when I’m not filing a missing weight report with the police I have excellent work outs there.

I never find it overcrowded. The dumbbells are always on the rack and not all over the floor. The place is clean and has everything you need.

It's so convenient because it's a few blocks away from home. The gym does needs a pick me up token. The staff is friendly, that I must say and so are the coaches/trainers, but would love it if more activities are added throughout the year. Maybe walks for breast cancer, walks for March of dimes and contribute in that way and I'm sure people would feel more motivated. The classes are starting to get stale, def a change in the classes would get people more motivated as well . This gym has daycare which is a big plus, the daycare room is always nicely decorated and so inviting.

Its a community gym and they have classes and gym instructors. Its 3 floors. Basement is mainly weights, first is weights and cardio. They also have an area where you can do cross fit as well even though its not called that but it resembles that. They have spin classes etc. Its inexpensive and wveryone is super duper nice.

For $30 month you get 24 Hour access Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 6 am to 10 pm. Plus there's some free classes like Zumba, cycling, yoga, ect. The equipment are marginal, many on the first floor are in top condition but down stairs is OK, however there's everything you need for weight lifting. Nothing too fancy.
