Morning yoga (not hot) is great. Deb Rutledge is an excellent yoga teacher. Really creates a sense of learning, progress and community. Pushes us, all to our own levels. Creates an understanding of the practice of yoga as union, mind, body, spirit. More not hot classes would be welcome

I have enjoyed classes in East Greenbush, Albany and Glenmont. My experiences at all three places have been consistently 5 star experiences. My favorite so far is John’s Gentle Candlelight class in Glenmont . I have found his style to be a perfect for me. I have some physical limitations and he offers options with every pose to go deeper for those that can while allowing me to feel comfortable staying where I am. His playlist is also fabulous!

I cannot say enough amazing things about the Hot Yoga Spot! I recently moved to Albany this past year and was introduced to it by a friend, and I was immediately obsessed! The instructors at every location are amazing, they have a variety of different classes, and prices are reasonable! You get such a great and effective workout and get to leave each class feeling amazing every time!

Aaron's Heavenly Hips class is terrific for anyone with hip issues, and also lower back issues, and gluteal tendonopathy. It's not a complicated class but it is as of equal value to individuals with those issues as an advanced yoga might be to others. I love that Aaron just relays the movements without interjecting lots of unnecessary chit chat or filler dialogue in between so one can truly focus on the movements.

I can’t say enough good things about the Hot Yoga Spot. I have been a member for over 10 years and I have never been disappointed with any of the classes I have taken. The schedule offers a lot variety from very gentle classes to high intensity classes. The instructors are extremely versatile and truly listen to me when I explain that I may need modifications to poses due to my rheumatoid arthritis. I am booked to do my first Bikram class since I was diagnosed with RA 3 years ago and I am nervous, but the owner Jess has been so helpful in answering my questions about the class and encouraging me to give it a try. I have been to other hot yoga studios and none are as amazing as The Hot Yoga Spot. Highly recommend!!

The Hot Yoga Spot remains one of my favorite places in the region. They have so many classes to choose from across 6 locations. They also have a variety of teachers. While each teacher has a unique style, all are welcoming and are great at what they do. There is something for everyone, from the beginner yogi to the experienced.

I have been going to the Hot Yoga Spot for 10+ years and am so grateful to have it in my life. HYS has been a staple for me for so long because there are so many amazing teachers, varied classes, and each studio has such a welcoming atmosphere. The owner is so kind and helpful, and somehow is still able to offer a personalized experience for anyone and everyone despite how big the company has grown over the years. Sean is one of my favorite instructors if I want a challenging flow. I love the candlelight classes offered on Friday nights, it’s such a nice way to wind down from the work week. I especially love going throughout the winter to help mentally get through the colder months in upstate NY. The instructors are also so accommodating and understanding wherever you’re at that day. If you are having a bad day and just went in and laid on the mat for an hour, no one would blink an eye. There are a lot of great community events too like outdoor yoga, donation based classes, class programs and special offerings. I cannot recommend HYS enough!!!!

Above all, the Hot Yoga Spot studios, the teachers and the clients have a wonderful, easy vibe, and everything is clean & extremely well organized. I've been doing yoga since I was 14 when I came across a paperback on Hatha yoga in a corner store. Years later I tried hot yoga & it became my healthy addiction. I must say I pick my classes by the teachers. I enjoy the exercise benefit of yoga, but I'm more into the spirit/mind/body union of it, so I've been taking classes w/ Mary Beth, Melissa & Sally. They're the best teachers for me. And I do miss Doreen & Emily. No shade on the other teachers!!!

I've recently returned to practicing yoga after a five-year break, and The Hot Yoga Spot has been an incredible place to restart my journey. The studio is clean, well-organized, and has a welcoming energy that makes you feel at ease right away.
The instructors are top-notch—professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do.
The classes are challenging but accessible, with plenty of options to push yourself or modify as needed. The heated environment adds an extra layer to the practice, making it a rewarding experience every time.

This was my first time going to a hot yoga class in general. The East Greenbush studio was clean. The class itself was amazing. On a side note it would’ve been helpful if we knew what to do or where to go upon entering the studio. I don’t know if the instructor can see if it is a persons first time or not but it would have been helpful if that instructor greeted us and gave us the 411 on where everything was (incl the bathroom) where to go.

Talking in the studio before class…it says right on the door to not talk. This has been my experience in the Clifton Park Studio for a year now.
Instructor played music for the entire hour from the late 90s bringing back a painful break-up with my first love at age 19. Instructors have been including popular songs of several genres in the past year. Just because an instructor loves a song doesn’t mean everyone does.
Yoga is supposed to help you physically and emotionally.
The hot yoga spot has been doing the opposite for me for some time now.
I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Visiting from out of town and I felt completely comfortable and welcomed when I joined a class! We practiced yoga with a ball as a prop and that was amazing and the instructor added a lot of prana practice throughout! Lions breath was intense! Instructor was amazing too! When I head back to Albany, I will definitely be booking another class! The young lady at the front desk was also lovely! Very clean and professional all around!

The studio space is HUGE (compared to NYC/NJ studios I've been to). Also free parking.
The teachers are attentive and enthusiastic.
Choose the class that best suits you.
All the amenities - shoe cubbies, lockers, changing rooms, and showers.
I only buy drop in classes but they have affordable subscriptions and class packs to suit any availability (again, this is by comparison to other studios in the lower Tri-State area).
Also very convenient location for anyone visiting UAlbany.

I have enjoyed every class I’ve taken at this location until I took the Hot Power Flow class with Jennilee. I have taken numerous beginner classes with my friend and we felt that we should try an intermediate class to see what it was like and if we would enjoy it. Jennilee made this very unenjoyable for us. In one of the variations, I thought we were going into a runners lunge, then quickly realized we weren’t so I adjusted my position. Jennilee noticed that I initially went into a runners lunge and said in front of the whole class, “Oh, did your friends not tell you this class was going to be hard? Yeah this is an intermediate/advanced class.” It was embarrassing and rude. I chose to take this class. Throughout the rest of the class, I felt insecure and judged. I was also worried she was going to yell at me in front of the class when I needed to do a modification for my left wrist that is weak and in pain from a previous injury. Then, in one of the positions, my back heel was to the floor when it should’ve been raised and Jennilee said “Put your heel up” and I looked at her and she said “Yeah I’m talking to you!” In a rude manner. My friends and I were appalled at the unprofessionalism. Am I just expected to go from beginner classes to intermediate classes and be perfect and know the new variations? Everyone starts somewhere and I should feel proud to have just shown up on a Saturday and tried my best. I left feeling worse than when I came in. I wouldn’t advise taking this class with Jennilee or any of her classes for that matter. I’m very upset and bothered with this experience.

I would have given this review more stars if it wasn’t for the Instructor. I’ve taken many classes at different locations here and always had such a good experience until I took a class with Jeannine. She was so extremely rude and called people out the entire class. We pay to take the class but are treated like children in middle school. You’re not allowed to look at wound the room she told our class to close our eyes the whole time but if you didn’t know what to do that’s not helpful. She didn’t show or instruct a single move and then would get frustrated when a move was done incorrectly. We were told we’re not allowed to drink water during a 90+ degree class unless she instructed us that it was alright to drink water. These are only a few of the problem I experienced with her. I absolutely will not be returning to this site ever again just because of her. I basically paid to be bullied for an hour straight. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH JEANNINE

I can remember not so long ago when u was in really excellent shape for an old guy. Then a medical condition snuck up on me. After a long fight I seen to have emerged victorious but the endurance and flexibility I had were shot. And i had a real problem in one shoulder. A shot of cortisone was necessary to fix that about 90%. After one intensive week at The Hot Yoga Spot the bursitis was 99% gone and a few more weeks said goodbye to that. Now I am slowly, very slowly, experiencing improvements in other areas. I signed up for a year because it is a great deal. I think it may take that long to really improve. All of the instructors i have had are great! I think it is entirely possible that at the end of the year i will actually like yoga and maybe even love it. In the meantime I love how it is helping me recover my body.

I tried Bikram Hot yoga w/my partner, and it was awesome! First of all, I sweated a ton! Bring your water and a towel! The instructor was so upbeat and threw a few jokes in to keep it light!
I am definitely going back to sweat it out again. I usually do CrossFit, so I probably cant swing two monthly memberships, but Hot Yoga spot did not seem too expensive. I enjoyed the stretch, too. And now that it’s colder, just being that warm was very welcome. Give it a try! The unlimited week or two week package is the best way to go!

I was given a gift card and paid the difference for the 10 classes package.
It started with being humiliated in front of a group of people about smelling like cigarette smoke which I took care of. I tried staying for the full class, but I couldn't relax and I haven't been back.
I contacted them through the website and was told I never used my debit card and everything was paid for using a gift card.
I called my bank and have proof that I paid with my debit card. I never asked to purchase a gift card. I wanted to pay the difference and pay for the package.
I was going to have my mom use the rest of my classes, but if they treat me that way, I don't trust them to treat me mother with respect.
I didn't want to do this publicly, but I checked BBB and you are not on the website.
So now I am going to ask publicly that you refund me and my mother the money that we have spent.
I have lost faith with any other yoga center around Albany and have thrown away anything that has to do with yoga.
I am disappointed in your staff. I was going for Prenatal yoga and it helped with my anxiety and depression. So you also took away any feeling of safety of other studios and other ways of helping me with mental health issues.

I arrived in Albany on a Friday for a 13 week work contract. The first thing I did was research yoga studios in the area. The following morning I visited The hot yoga spot. Kayla provided an amazing Saturday morning power flow. I immediately new I found my new yoga community in Albany. Sunday, morning I went to Jenilees butts and gutts followed by her gentle yoga class. I was hooked! I found my new Sunday morning fitness routine. Before my first week unlimited trial was complete I was ready to purchase my month unlimited. I purchased the one month unlimited and for 8 days I enjoyed as many classes at the studio that my work schedule would allow. My contract with the hospital was ended abruptly. I emailed the owner of the studio to notify her of my situation and asked if I could be refunded a pro rated portion of my unlimited purchase since I was leaving town unexpectedly. And without hesitation this gracious business owner refunded me my money! This is a small business I WOULD SUPPORT !!! I highly recommend you do too. Fabulous yoga community ran by a fabulous business owner . 10 stars ✨✨✨

The most amazing place to be to help you along your journey of health and wellness. I yoga because it keeps me flexible to be active in other parts of my life. I chose THYS to help me stay centered and healthy in my heart and head space. The instructors and the environment that is cultivated there is so positive and therapeutic.

I took a gentle flow relaxation class and unfortunately, it was anything but relaxing. I understand that a Sunday afternoon class is probably one of the more popular ones, but my suggestion would be to limit the number of people in each class. There were so many people in the class that you couldn’t stretch at all without worrying about hitting the people next to you, only an inch or two away. They allowed people to come in late which hindered relaxation in the beginning, and all of the people in the lobby towards the end made it impossible to meditate and relax to close out the session. Mary Beth was a great instructor and I’m sure I would’ve gotten a lot out of the class if it weren’t for the other factors getting in the way.

I really enjoy the classes offered. I am new to yoga but felt that I get a lot out of the classes, because the instructors were very helpful about showing different options. There is a great atmosphere from the time you walk into the building through the time you leave. I was also very impressed with the customer service. I sent an email about a pass I had gotten over a year ago, but wasn't able to use due to injury. I received a very nice e-mail that same day saying they would extend my pass. She didn't have to do this, but it was so appreciated. Between the great classes, the enjoyable atmosphere, and the exceptional customer service, i will always recommend the Hot Yoga Spot to my friends.
