I’ve never been a particularly active person. I’d join a gym and do some cardio for awhile but quickly lose interest because it was boring. Twice a day I’d walk past the gym to and from work, feeling guilty, but not guilty enough to actually go in. I knew what I really needed to do was strength training, but it wasn’t something I was motivated to do on my own. Then one night I was scrolling through Facebook while I was feeling particularly bad about myself and saw a random ad for a fitness challenge at The Zone. I’d never heard of this place before, but for some reason I sent in my information. And I immediately regretted it. Within 10 minutes some random guy was texting me, trying to set up an appointment for me to go in to meet with him. I tried everything to get out of it, but he wasn’t budging. Next thing I knew, I was signed up.
The classes were extremely challenging when I first started. I was expected to run, get up and down off the floor repeatedly, and do scary things like ab work and planks. These were things that were exceedingly difficult for me. But I decided to give it everything I could and make the most of it. I’d invested my time and money and had a goal to meet, and I wasn’t going to give up on any of it easily.
Unfortunately, I didn’t meet the goal that was set for me, but I definitely exceeded my expectations. While still challenging, I was beginning to be able to keep up with the exercises the trainers gave us. If I was struggling, they would give me a modification or assist in getting the correct form. Now, 12 weeks later, I have meet my initial goal, can run 5 laps around the gym, get up and down off the floor, and even do planks. I feel stronger, taller, and just generally better about myself.
If you’re looking to go to a gym where you plug in to your headphones and focus on your own solo workout, this is not the place for you. This is a community. This is a place where the trainers take the time to get to know you and tailor your workouts as needed and provide endless encouragement. Classmates cheer you on, giving out high 5s and hugs throughout the workout. There is no competition. Just family.

My name is Louise L.and I have been working with The Zone for the past month. I am a 51 years old, married with two adult children and four dogs. I have been teaching fourth grade for the past ten years after leaving a corporate job in Finance. I have been struggling with my weight loss for the past 8 years. As a child into adulthood, weight was easy to maintain and I didn’t have to incorporate exercise into my life. After the birth of my two children and entering early menopause symptoms, it feels like my weight multiplied right before my eyes. I focused on many different diets, joined and quit gyms constantly and tried exercise routines at home. Low and behold, seeing very little success. I would lose weight and then it would come right back on. During these past eight years, my parents moved in with us as my mother had
Cancer and was diagnosed with Dimentia. My husband and I were the primary caregivers. As I witnessed my parents’ health decline, I started to realize that my health and physical strength was more important than I realized. Exercise was a chore for me. It was a struggle at every turn. My mom passed away and my dad passed a few years later. This is when I decided to start taking my life back. Diet was not enough and I had to do something to help heal emotionally. A very close and dear friend of mine did have me try Soul Cycle and if nothing else it allowed me to enjoy exercise and give me an outlet to reflect on my own habits. However, my weight still was a roller coaster ride and my doctor kept telling me to back off the cardio and engage in strength training. I had no clue where to start. I knew I didn’t want to join another gym. I was never one to push myself when it came to exercise so at home routines was not going to work. I kept seeing “The Zone” coming up on Facebook and I was definitely intrigued. I reached out and set up an appointment with Ed. Since that day, I never looked back. It has been an amazing experience in just one month. Why? I have always been intimidated by the lack of experience in the “gym” environment. I never felt that intimidation once while training with Ed and Brock. They are patient, knowledgeable and listen to your concerns and past experiences. They take the time to carefully plan your training and I can honestly say I haven’t felt better. I am not one for attention, but I am constantly being asked what am I doing differently? I still have quite a bit more to go but
I have fully committed to the process and trust Ed and Brock wholeheartedly. I have never been this excited about training and will literally move my schedule around to make my training fit into my schedule In the past, I would make excuses to blow off exercise. I have finally committed to myself “No More Excuses!”

The last year and a half has been the most difficult time of my life. My college aged son passed away and it left my family reeling. The last year has been filled with overwhelming sadness and the hard work of trying to keep the rest of my family together. During this time I forgot to take care of myself and tried to fill the void with instant pleasures. A piece of chocolate, an escape in to a Netflix series, sleep… the problem was that none of these things made me feel any better. Instead I was exhausted all of the time, I could not fit in to my clothes and refused to buy new ones, and the depression was just growing deeper. One night, I just decided it was time to reclaim my life. I’m not really sure what motivated me, except that I saw the ad for The Zone at just the right second, and decided that I really had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I needed to take back control of my life. Ed called me the next day to set up a meeting and for a second I thought about backing out, but I decided to go anyway and just see what this place was all about. I was definitely not going if it was filled with little tiny Instagram girls in perfect make-up and sassy little outfits. Instead what I found when I got there was a family. There was a group of women my age (mid 40’s) finishing a boot camp class, sweating and a mess, cheering each other on and smiling. This was my kind of place. Ed was so kind and genuinely interested in me, and what brought me there. I signed up and started going 3 times a week. Honestly, the first 2 weeks were brutal. I hadn’t realized just how much I had let myself go. I was sore and exhausted after classes, but the trainers there were incredible with their encouragement, during the classes and when I texted just to complain. After those first 2 weeks, my muscles weren’t screaming anymore but felt just more awake, my energy started to soar and I started to look forward to going to classes. It became my happy place. The place where I can go to get away from all of what is going on at home, where I feel welcomed and surrounded by positivity. I am back in control of my body and the strength that I have gained in my body has become a strength of spirit that is helping me in all parts of my life. In the first six weeks I dropped 5.7% body fat, 6 pounds, my clothes fit again and I see a different future from the one I had in my mind when I started. I will always be grateful fro what I have gained by going to The Zone.

My name is Jody Conroy. I am a 55 YO mother of 3 grown children. I’m not a good dieter. I know all the right things to with regard to food and nutrition do but don’t always do them. I recognize the importance of exercise but don’t push myself to do it regularly or work hard. I thought having a professional keep after me to work hard would help, and it has. When I first started training with Ed and his group it was really a struggle. I got tired easily and was often sore the next day. As I’ve gotten into the routine of going to the workouts I’ve noticed a difference in how my body looks which is very motivating. At first it was small things like more definition in my legs but gradually I’ve seen my waist re-emerge…I can no longer ‘pinch an inch’! In addition to the way my clothes fit I’ve also had a measurable decrease in body fat! The classes are a little different every day and the people are very supportive of one another. The trainers keep pushing us as well as checking to ensure our form is correct so we don’t get hurt. Even when I absolutely do not want to work out, I know once I get to class the zone fitness family will be there to give me the push I need. I always leave class with a smile.

As a gym owner - I have to pay dues where it is owed. I dropped my girlfriend off at the mall but wanted to get a workout in. I had heard good things about the Zone and just by chance they had a class starting in 15 minutes. So I headed over and got one heck of a workout in and learned a few things. Ed and his team are awesome and you would do well being a part of this gym and learning from the best.

My whole life I have always tried to be an active person, however once I graduated college and began working full-time, staying active became more and more difficult. I started gaining weight and loosing muscle. I wasn't comfortable with the way I looked and my confidence decreased. I knew I needed to make my a health a priority so I decided to make a change.
I began going to The Zone: Strength and Fitness in May of 2017. Here I found more than just a gym. I found a place where the atmosphere is positive, where members welcome you with a smile, and where the staff are professional and experts in their field.
The most important thing for me however is the fact that the workouts here are tailored to the individual. This means that my workouts are custom-made to meet my fitness goals. As my fitness level increases and/or my goals change, my workouts change with it. The workouts remain fresh and exciting and I constantly find myself reaching new levels I did not know I could achieve.
Overall, The Zone: Strength and Fitness has shown me that working out can be fun, goals can be achieved, and that a healthy lifestyle should always is a priority.

I wanted to take some time to acknowledge the incredible job everyone is doing down at The Zone Strength and Fitness. I had been in a workout plateau for around two years, and although not out of shape, I certainly wasn’t where I wanted to be physically. I was hovering around 175lbs and was admittedly in a workout rut, doing basic cardio on the treadmill and lifting now and then. Also, suffering from multiple herniated discs, doing workout out of my comfort zone was not something I wanted to try.
I was lucky enough to receive a gift certificate to the Zone Strength and Fitness and immediately I noticed this Gym was completely different than any other place I’d been. From the moment I arrived, Ed Miller welcomed me with open arms, took the time to sit down and get to know me, and developed a plan to build strength while being safe with my back issues.
I’m not going to lie, the first few training sessions were very tough. But Ed was there every step of the way, guiding and training. Before I knew it he had me doing dead lifts and lifting heavier than I ever thought I could lift. It didn’t take long (about 2 weeks in fact) before my first weigh in and low and behold I had dropped 2 pounds, put on muscle mass and lost fat!
To date I am down to 167lbs have lost significant body fat and have gained muscle, oh and the best part, my back has NEVER felt better. I have energy to burn and overall I feel much healthier and happier. I cannot thank Ed enough for his dedication, guidance and support he has shown me and all members at his gym. I would also like to give a shout out to Brock Duncan, who has likewise been an incredible trainer and has helped me immeasurably.
I cannot recommend this gym enough. It isn’t your run of the mill, check in, run on a treadmill and leave. You actually work at this gym, and that is a great thing! Come here and experience it yourself, you’ll be glad you did!

Are you tired of the conventional gym, doing to same workouts time and time again and never achieving your goals. Give the zone a shot! I am not the "gym" type...I started going to the zone about 2 years ago and I have never looked back. The workouts are intense, semi personalized and fun! They do a fabulous job focusing on your individual needs. I have never felt better! I wish there were more than 5 stars I could give them.....they make you want to go to the gym, they give you that drive even when your life is completely chaotic with work and raising kids, they encourage you to find the time and get it done! I don't know what I'd do without The Zone!! I know I'd be completely out of shape, that's for sure!

When I started at the Zone I was really out of shape and overweight. I was new to boot camp and high intensity training classes so I didn't know what to expect. I loved it! I lost over 30 lbs in just 6 weeks and I lost almost 5% body fat over that same time period. The instructors are very good and motivating!

2 months in so far, I feel I have made so much progress. I am so happy I finally decided to be part of The Zone family. Such a friendly environment, instructors have been great and accomodating. They are so understanding that everyone is on a different level of fitness. I look forward to Monday's and Wednesday's. The best part is how they cater to their clients, small details that matter. Kudos for all the special products that are available to the ladies!
Thank you!

I started training with ed just over 4 years ago, and needless to say I’ll never train with anyone else. His workouts are fun, the community aspect is amazing and I’ve lost 20 pounds and actually kept it off!!

Let me start off by being honest. I hate working out. I was never the gym type, only running and playing basketball through high school and college. Time's up, and college is now over. Que in Ed Miller.
Ed's gym provides a fun, informative, and safe atmosphere for working out. From the personalized plans (aka detailed work outs), to his Saturday classes, it is always a blast to go. The next day is another story. I recommend Ed's to all, from the actual high school kid, to the person that wants to look (and feel!) like they're in high school once again.
