UPLIFT is a 3,000 square foot fitness studio offering 1-on-1 personal training, group fitness classes, muscle recovery, biomechanics and nutrition coaching.
With 1-on-1 training, your trainer builds a program based on your individual needs. Personal training sessions take place in a private room with private equipment.
Our group fitness classes are more advanced focusing on a week by week blend of functional strength training & high-intensity conditioning.
In addition, we have specialists in muscle recovery and biomechanics.
All training includes towels, private bathrooms & showers.

I’ve been training with Jared for over 5 years now and have been at Uplift since day one. I tried a lot of different local gyms and Uplift is one of a kind. The trainers are not only super motivating, but they pay close attention to form and detail. Classes feel like a one-on-one experience, even in a (small) group setting. The members are all amazing and supportive. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to keep showing up and pushing yourself.

UPLIFT is truly the place to be for anyone looking for a deeper, more holistic approach to personal training. My experience there was incredibly insightful—what stood out most was how they focus on understanding and training the musculoskeletal system as a whole. I gained a new appreciation for how even everyday movements, like walking, involve a complex coordination of muscles from head to toe.
My coach, James, was fantastic—knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in making each session meaningful. He helped me connect the dots between movement and muscle function in a way I hadn't before. Every visit felt purposeful, and I left each session having learned something new about my body. My back and knee pain reduced very much. Also, my body I felt more supple(less
knots in the muscle perhaps) and less tension in the muscle groups.
I only wish I had been more disciplined, but I’m grateful for the progress I made—and I’ll definitely be back for more. Highly recommend Uplift to anyone serious about understanding and improving their body through expert-guided training. UPLIFT TRULY LIFTS ANYBODY UP.

I came to Uplift with a multitude of issues stemming from scoliosis. I have learned to compensate over the years and it’s catching up to me causing pain…basically everywhere. In a stroke of luck, I found James, who is a Functional Patterns trainer, and just an over-all great person. From our first session, he has been helping me weed through my compensations and train my body to move more naturally. We work in a way I never have before. I leave my trainings feeling not only shifts in my posture but on my outlook for my future as well. So glad to have found Uplift!

Uplift provides a unique approach to working out by combining small group classes with individualized attention. Unlike other gyms and fitness instructors I have experienced, Jared and the team of trainers take the time to ensure we have a proper warmup and they demonstrate every exercise and movement before the class starts. I became a member of Uplift since they first opened. Jared and his trainers create such a fun, personalized, welcoming and approachable gym atmosphere.
The community is one of the best parts!! The people are so friendly - the energy feels very different from any gym I have been to before. It really helps motivate me to get out of the bed in the morning!
I then hurt my back outside of the gym and decided to work with James for private sessions for corrective movement and biomechanics. I loved worked with James because we really worked together to pin point where my pain was coming from and made that area stronger through retraining my brain on how to move!

I started at Uplift over year ago with very little background in strength training. I love the structure of the workouts, the size of the class, and the attention to form. The trainers are fantastic, knowledgeable, and always willing to engage with you. In just a year, I feel like I have made significant progress in my fitness journey. Jared is great at conceiving workout challenges that help you push yourself and the outcomes leave you feeling accomplished. It is such a great community with such a positive outlook and I think that is a big part of why I show up at the gym everyday. I’ve been extremely satisfied with the group classes at Uplift. After joining several months ago, I have been very impressed with the level of individual attention that I have received from the trainers here. There is a large focus on having the appropriate form while also increasing weight to meet my fitness goals. The trainers are all extremely knowledgeable and know me on a first name basis which makes the environment even more welcoming. The facility is always kept extremely clean and the music keeps you energized all class.

Love it here! My friend invited me to try a class a few months ago and I’ve been going ever since. The classes are small so you get a lot of 1:1 attention, the instructors tailor each exercise to your needs and ensure you have proper form so you don’t hurt yourself. I have knee and back problems so I was hesitant at first, but they’ve been SO good about any modifications and I’ve been able to safely push myself. I take classes with Jared (owner) and Morgan and they’re both great. Worth my time and money!

I moved to the Albany area last year and probably spent more time researching which gym to join than I did looking for an apartment (movement is that important to me!) and landed here because I could sense the quality of the trainers and programming. I joined Uplift because of their focus on form and ability to adapt. As someone with hyper mobility and arthritis, I hadn’t been able to see real gains after 3+ years of other gyms and programs. In the last year and a half, I have not only seen increased stamina and strength, I have noticed small changes as well. My joints are now more stable and have less issues because of weakness. The team and the members are super encouraging. I can work alongside lifelong athletes and we both have challenging workouts. I look forward to my gym days more than I ever have before!

I am the strongest I’ve ever been after joining UPlift.
Jared keeps the class sizes small, and this has helped foster a camaraderie among the people who go to the gym. I know most people at the gym by face and name, and I am friendly with the regulars in my class time. We classmates also support each other, which sweetens personal victories.
Small classes also allow for a personalized approach. Jared and Morgan know my strength and can make sure that I’m appropriately challenged with each move. I am pushed more at UPlift than I would push myself. I had never chest pressed more than 20lb dumbbells and now I can do 50s.
My personal repertoire has expanded (I’m now comfortable with kettlebells, dumbbells, and this wild move called the Turkish get-up), and I have taken advantage of Functional Patterns training offered separately in the gym. Working with James, my shoulders are squared, my core is stronger, and my lower back pain is gone. If you have issues with posture I highly recommend it.
In my experience, people who come in for a free first class tend to stay. I was one of them - a classic New Year’s Resolutioner that stuck. No regrets.

If you're looking for a new gym to call home or if you're just starting out, I highly recommend Uplift! Jared and his team are knowledgeable, attentive, and meet every client where they're at across the fitness spectrum. You will never leave a session or class feeling uninspired or that you couldn't achieve your very best. Jared's passion for fitness and the personalized attention he provides each client is unmatched and unsurpassed in the Albany area. Workouts are well thought out in advance, thoroughly reviewed at the beginning of each class, and individualized to the extent possible. Proper form is continually reinforced to prevent injury and recover smartly.
The small group class environment is encouraging and you won't find a nicer group of people anywhere else. Everyone strives to be their best and supports each other to do the same. There are no egos here.

Two years ago I took a chance and I reached out to a few fitness center looking for help with toning and strength due to an abundance amount of weight lose. I felt great from the weight lose but extremely self conscious with the excessive floppy skin.. and the lack of strength., plus I’ve never felt confident walking into gyms or fitness centers. But the second I walked into Uplift, I knew I was in the right place.. The owner, the staff, the entire environment is empowering. This is not an ordinary gym.. “It’s a home.”It’s a family who truly cares and motivates one another for any challenge!! The bonds created here are meant to last a lifetime.. I’ve taken the group classes with Jared and done 1-1 training with Sean. Beyond happy with my time spent. Working with sean on Functional Patterns was eye opening and connected me more with my body. I joined UPLIFT last spring as a private client working with Dan, one of UPLIFT’s personal trainers. After five continuous years of personal training I fell completely off my routine during the first year of Covid and was anxious to get back in shape. Dan put together a customized fitness plan that was perfect for my fitness level at the time. As I got back into my routine Dan continued to develop workout plans that kept me challenged and moving along to an improved fitness level and better overall health. Finally! I’ve been meaning to come and visit Uplift for several months and tonight finally made it happen. After working out at home for over a year and a half I was definitely anticipating a tough workout and sure enough I came on a conditioning day 😆 but that didn’t matter, Jared, always the true professional gave me the exact amount of weight/time/cals/reps to meet me where I was at while still completely challenging me. I absolutely loved every minute of it and side note, total bonus having Ashley as my partner— she is an all-around powerhouse athlete and so encouraging. Jared has everything planned out meticulously in order to balance the daily and weekly workouts into a weekly block. (The block is announced on the weekends for individual customer planning)
He starts all attendees in specific locations daily in order to optimize their potential based on their individual strengths and imbalances.

I strongly recommend Uplift to anyone looking to start or continue working out. I can’t say enough about trainers Jared and Ashley! They are awesome! I’m almost a year post shoulder surgery and without their support, I’m not sure my shoulder would be as strong and healthy as it is. I can now do push-ups (real ones) and burpees which I haven’t done in almost 2 years due to putting off said surgery. They know their clients well. They know when to push and when to modify. Definitely a great place to work out!

I am so happy I found a place that is so welcoming and trainers that are there for their clients. Jared and Ashley go above and beyond to fully engage with their clients so that they are fully aware of how to motivate the individual based on the unique needs of the person. I struggle with a few things and yet they are there to always find a modification as well as know when to push me to do more than I thought I could do.
