Great rates without the BS. Old school weight lifting gym that desperately needs a remodel. But that's half the charm. It's old and well used, but there are absolute monsters who workout there. Convenient hours and a nice community. Don't expect to make a ton of friends, as people are very committed to their workouts. There is some cardio equipment too but the majority seem to be there for Crossfit and/or weight training.

I just joined the gym at the mall looking for a new venue . The equipment is fine except for a few benches that need new upholstery. However, the area by the treadmills is dirty. The mirrors are very dirty and there are no matts to do any floor workout. The men's locker room beyond filthy, dont understand how they think this is ok.

Be careful they make their money by charging people that they won’t let cancel their memberships. I’ve been getting charged for almost 8 months now. You try to call and cancel and they say they “can’t do anything” and if you write them an email they won’t respond. Pretty sure a manager doesn’t exist because he’s always “not in today”. Gym is fine gets the job done, their contract is horrible though and parasitic in nature. You have to give a full 2 month buffer to cancel your membership if not you have to pay for the next 2 months in full. Personally instead of doing that I decided to put a pause on my account till I got back from college. Just recently they decided to randomly put a charge on my account for a full month membership. They need serious updates on there contractual agreements or they will keep losing customers!

Outdated..the YMCA on monroe Ave has better equipment. I've tried to cancel multiple times but everytime I go in I'm told if I cancel I'll have to pay $300 bucks to void my contract. I love this gym and it's a great deal for $20 a month..I've been to midtown, JCC and Planet Fitness but World Gym is my favorite. Everyone who works there is so cool and kind, but more importantly the vibe and kindness from the other people who workout here is wonderful. I tried to cancel my membership which was under a 2 year contract due to military activation. I went into the gym with paperwork proof of military activation and was told my membership had been canceled. 3 months later I am still being charged monthly and for some reason they started charging me more than what I was originally paying (went from $10 a month to $29 a month after my "cancelation") every time I try to call to resolve this the manager seems to be "out of town". I don't even want my money back, I just want to stop being charged.

Not a member, but I got a knot in my quad while running just down the street. I hobbled in and they let me use a foam roller to be able to finish my walk home. The guy and the lady behind the front desk were kind and courteous, and I really appreciated their help. If I'm ever in the market for a gym, this with be a huge mark in their favor.

I cannot thank them enough for being amazing and helping me out; they prevented me from walking in pain for 2 miles.

I started a contract monthly membership with World Gym Rochester in March 2021. In April my company moved me 5 hours away to NYC. I was told I was required to pay the entire 12 months off even though I could not use their gym anymore due to distance. As per Zach (? The young kid that often works the front desk) I paid the year off and sent a letter to the gym requesting cancellation. Fast forward six months later, the gym started recharging me the monthly fee. Unfortunately their claims company is called “ABC Fitness Solutions” (which is close to the “ABC Gym here in Manhattan that sends me marketing items all the time. I didn’t realize until March they have been charging me. I called the gym in March 14, 2022 and spoke to Joe who stated since I was at a distance I needed to send another letter requesting cancellation and would have to pay until they receive the letter (total of $116.50 including late charges) and pay a $50 termination fee (so a total of $166.50 for a membership I already cancelled). I don’t think this is fair as I have already complied with their requests and haven’t used their gym in one year (and I live 5 hours from there)

I was trapped into a 2 year contract (yes even through Covid) and even though they paused my membership, they added the time I wasn’t able to use the gym (due to Covid) onto my contract. I used this gym a total of 4 times in 2 years and have paid over $300. People are unwilling to work with you and even after calling several times to try to get out of it, they said I have to provide proof of move and $100 😂 it’s somewhat comical the lengths they will go to make sure they get every last dollar. Seems to me that this gym lacks ethical standards. I’ve been going to different gyms for 10 years and have never had an issue. Also the gym itself is super dirty and equipment is old. Will most likely be out of business soon.

I would give this gym 0 stars if I could. They Charged me 50$ because apparently there is a 25$ bounce fee if your payment doesn't go through on the first so they tried two days later and was able to pull the money but still took an extra 25$ and overdrew my account. I tried to explain the situation to the manager who was EXTREMELY rude, condescending, and downright disrespectful. As someone who works in the service industry and has been in leadership roles, I have NEVER spoken to a customer like that. He said "oh well theres nothing we can do you signed the contract if you want to cancel it you can pay out the whole of your contract." And then when I informed him I was uncomfortable with the conversation because of how off and rude he was being and wanted to speak to the owner, he started LAUGHING and was like "hmm, ok ill find the number for you." He then proceeded to pretend like he was looking for a contact information and gave me the number TO YHE GYM. Very unprofessional and disgusting way to run a business. Good thing my fiances grandfather is a petty attorney because I will be getting my money back one way or the other I will never attend this gym again!!!

Miscommunication during the start of the pandemic had me believe memberships were cancelled, was paying for the CrossFit membership. When gyms reopened I started getting charged again, as I was not in a financial position with lack of work or physical position as the caregiver for my elderly mom with to pay $170 a month for mine and my partners membership so I contacted the gym.

They said there was no way to to reimburse the charges but agreed to fully cancel the membership.

Fast forward to today and I have still been paying $89 dollars since October because they didn't cancel my partners membership. Again told they can not be refunded.

Great CrossFit facility but they really boned me financially, would not suggest anyone patron this business based purely on their inability to work with people during a global pandemic. That's well over 500 dollars I paid for....what? Gym access I can't use? How does that help pay me pay for groceries, my rent, my mother's co-pays and hospital visits?

I was given a set of kettlebells by a friend, I suggest anyone looking for a membership save themselves the cash and grab a set. There are plenty of resources online to get an amazing workout without being screwed over.

Nightmare billing. I moved, went in as requested and now they don't have what they need to cancel. Worst service ever! Gym wasn't great. Cheap... Lesson learned, you get what you pay for. Fast forward a year and after doing all of the paperwork in the gym, they told me I needed a notarized letter to cancel my membership, sent me to collections and did the same to my boyfriend. Seriously, if your staff member made the error when we were live in person and didn't give me the right form, own the error, apologize and make it right.

Good for what it was when I was there. Then they converted the stretching room and denied me access when that room was big part of the reason I joined. I cancelled. Or that's what they led me to believe. 6 months later I find they've been charging me the whole time even after they confirmed my membership had been halted. After numerous attempts to get refunded and re request cancellation I continued to get charged and they continued to sweep my issue under the rug. Managers failed to call me back and once when they did it was 10:30pm!! Incompetence, laziness, and lack of consideration for their customers is how I would describe the staff.

All the reviews you see about nightmare billing are 100% true. This gym actually steals from people. My husband and I have the exact same problems. We went in and paid a cancellation fee (in person because that's the only option) but, continued to get charged for THREE MORE MONTHS. I've had to call and email everyday multiple times a day and file a complaint with the BBB to get them to actually cancel our membership, and give us a refund (WHICH WAS IN THE WORNG AMOUNT). We had to issue stop payments with our banks to get them to stop charging us. The managers (Meredith and Jena) tell you it's because of a "new software change" but that's a lie. Reviews on google and on the BBB website dating back over two years say they've had the exact same issue! Definitely not a new problem.

By the way, any person that thinks this gym is even close to being clean must have a really poor definition for what clean is because this gym is an absolute travesty. The once white hand towels are black, literally I am not exaggerating. If anything the towels make the equipment more dirty. The fact that they use hand towels and not paper towels to wipe down equipment is disgusting. Old school feel? HA more like a slum feel. This place is a rotting cesspool of bacteria. STAY AWAY!!!

I wish I could do zero stars. The post-member nightmare is real and you will be charged for months after you cancel your membership. They steal money from people. The owners are criminals and should be charged as such. After being a member at this gym for over a year, we had to end our membership because we moved out of town. After paying cancellation fees for assurance that we would stop being charged, the charges kept coming. After speaking with managers who continued to lie and make excuses as to why our membership had not been cancelled... we continued to be charged. The only way to stop it is to have your bank block all payments to the gym, but even then they will continue to try and charge you. If you ever, in your life, think you might consider canceling a membership here (which will be most people unless you plan on dying with a world gym account), DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM. Judging by the numerous posts that claim the same exact thing happened to them spanning over the last few years, I would guess this gym has stolen thousands of dollars from people in the Rochester area. Anybody complaining about the equipment needs to recognize that they're working out at a gym with actual character. This is not the cookie-cutter "suburban home with a white picket fence" type of gym that you're probably looking for. This is more like an old cabin tucked away in the mountains; if you can handle a little bit of rugged terrain and don't mind getting your hands dirty, there just simply isn't a more pleasant experience to be had.

It gets the job done! Nothing fancy about it, but that's what makes it great (plus it's very affordable). Ones side has all your cardio machines from treadmills and bikes to Jacobs ladder. The opposite side has got all your weight lifting machines. And when I say all.. I mean ALL. They also have a CrossFit section which requires a separate membership and they have a "Lift Zone" down in the basement which is also a separate membership for, I can only assume, those hardcore lifters. They've got locker rooms and they also have tanning. Convenient location but parking be rough at peak hours. All in all if you're looking to get your sweat on I'd give it a try.

I was a loyal member for 3 years. I put up with the dusty equipment, leaky ceilings during the winter/spring transition (roof leaking onto free weights that then rusted and were never cleaned) and old equipment because membership was cheap and the gym was close to my house. I moved away from the area recently and called to cancel my membership. I spoke to an employee who took down my name and number and told me that a manager would give me a call back on Monday. I never received a call. I called back after 2 weeks and the phone was answered by the manager, Michelle Sember. I told her I had been waiting for a call for several weeks and asked if they would be able to waive the monthly membership fee (not the cancellation) since I had been waiting for a call back and had been recently charged. Instead of responding to my concern, she told me that I could either pay the cancellation fee or they would submit the charge to a collections agency (the fee of which I had never had an issue with paying). She then told me she didn't know why I had called to complain a few weeks ago, to which I had to reexplain to her that I never called to complain, but rather to cancel my membership. I was absolutely aghast that she threatened to send the collections agency on me immediately after voicing my concerns. She was absolutely unwilling to work with me or listen to my concerns, she instead went immediately on the offensive and feigned to not understand the timeline of events with my initial phone call or take any responsibility for not returning my call. I am incredibly disappointed and I very much regret devoting my business to World Gym for 3 years.

I really don’t want to give them a one star because they are terrible with billing. They are snakes and would lie to you to keep getting your money out of your account. I moved out of state and two years after my contract ended, they still take my money and I got fed up with them thieves so I called and told them to stop taking my money. They said I needed to send them a letter and I did that. Still take my money, I called again and they said I needed to resend it because they didn’t get it. This gym is very dirty. I am deligent about spraying equipment before and after use and still contracted ring worm from their dirty towels (meant for wiping down equipment). When I took this information to the manager he was pretty argumentative and defensive. Part of his argument was that another woman contracted ring worm recently and that “All gyms carry the risk so be more diligent.” So basically this gym takes no responsibility for being dirty and places the blame on customers. My advice is to find a gym that supplies wipes, or at least disposable paper towels and a strong solution spray for wiping equipment down. Reusable towels is archaic and not hygienic and customers should not have to provide their own wipes in order to avoid contracting fungus, bacteria or god knows what else. Needless to say, I will not be renewing my contract, and no they don’t allow you to cancel your contract sans penalties.

They do cool fitness events and such. No pizza Mondays like planet fatness. One of the nicest staff and a clean place to workout. If you want gains come to this gym, membership is cheap. They have a shake bar for pre or post workout nutrients. Just a really great place to workout. Btw they don't throw you out if you are actually strength training like other gyms Planet fatness *cough*

Gym has a great old school feel with mostly barbells and weights.
However, equipment breaks frequently and never gets replaced. They have power racks that are falling apart and don't seem eager to replace them. No kettle bells. Better off going to KNOCKOUT FITNESS - atleast they have more equipment

Unfortunately, this gym is poorly managed. Billing is terrible, if not criminal. Please watch/review your account. I've been overcharged. Even after speaking with multiple managers, the problem continues. Cancelled membership, still waiting for them to return to me the excess charges.
I would not recommend going here.

Not terribly impressed by the set up, or, frankly, the smell. I've been in plenty of larger gyms that can mitigate that type of stuff... In any case, it is good for the price, you can bring a guest, it is centrally located on East Ave across from Wegmans. So all told, I'd recommend it, but don't think they'll deliver the world to you.

It's ok, opens up at 4:30am which is nice, closes at midnight, offers tanning packages with an unlimited guest pass for a great price. Good amount of equipment to work out on. Several benches and the more popular workout machines that most gyms have few or one of. Good options for drinks and protein and energy bars. Great people working at front desk. Had a well explained walk through.
