Absolutely unsafe practices in this studio, just be careful with your kids especially competition kids! Its one thing to be competitive and push your kids to be their best but when one of your dancers gets hurt at competition and falls during a routine and the instructor approaches you to tell you that they think she was faking an injury because she " screwed up" the hip hop dance, and not one of her instructors came to check on her and it took the director of the competition to get the attention of her instructors bc she was being ignored while
she sat backstage crying! well that " faked injury
" turned out to be a torn meniscus which now needs surgery to be repaired. And this was my niece not even my own child but we know quite a few in the studio so I think it's fair to warn others especially when she is still yet to be checked on by teachers or teammates that are " so close"

We enrolled our five-year-old daughter, Ava into dance this past fall. We live in Shelby, but I chose to go with above the bar in Fallston NC because I’ve heard great things from friends, and I wanted Ava‘s first time dance experience to be memorable and enjoyable. The teachers are staff are very personable and professional. Ava just absolutely adores her teacher and the friends that she has made. Communication is great through the parent portal. Anytime I have had a question The staff has been very quick to respond. There is a wide selection of classes to choose from which we love! I also really love that this dance studio goes out of their way to show appreciation for the parents and their students. Above the bar has become Ava‘s favorite thing about Mondays! Thank you Above The Bar for making Ava’s core memory of dance a fun and exciting one. I 10 out of 10 recommend Above The Bar to anyone who is interested in putting their little one in dance. We will 100% be sticking with them through the years As Ava continues to grow in her new skill.

Being Finley’s first year of dance and gymnastics we were a little nervous, but she has done so well with Erin! You can tell each instructor truly cares for the kids that they work with. Finley loves it and we plan to stay right where we are!

after a not so pleasant experience taking my daughter to another gym- we took Letty to Erin- she was the most warm hearted person and welcomed us so nicely! My daughter loves Erin and has learned so much in the past two years and can do so many things a 4year old typically can’t do! Not a dance week that my child doesn’t receive a hug from Erin. Absolutely no way we would go anywhere else! Thankfully Erin completely understand my stubborn set in her ways child!!

Both of my girls have learned new skills and improved on all skills since beginning at Above the Barre. The teachers are skilled in this profession and very friendly with making lessons fun with the kids. the events are spread out over the year to allow the kids to improve their skills and showcase what they have learned. Prices are very reasonable and classes are not overly competitive where the children feel pressured and stressed.
