Highly recommend getting swim lessons from the swim instructors here at this YMCA. Meghan Horton, Meaghan Witten, Andrea, Vanessa, Miles and others were excellent swim instructors for us and now my daughters and wife can swim very well.

3 years ago, my initial review was as follows: Fran Worthington at the front desk is a blessing to this organization and to the members. Free weights and fitness exercise elliptical machines on 2nd floor with windows to look down at the large pool on the 1st floor. Nas (or Nasir) answers any/all questions related to lifting weights, exercise and fitness upstairs on the 2nd floor and trains members as well; there are other trainers there too.

The whole organization has disrespected me, I am on permanent disability because I have Huntington’s disease. I have earned EVERY single dollar. I get a 1099, which I claim on my taxes every year!

The Eizabeth City NC YMCA is great! A very clean place with a beautiful pool, great exercise equipment, something for all ages! Lots of classes to participate in if you want too, not crowded, friendly staff and great childcare while parents do their thing!

I have only been a few times and it is okay. There's never anyone available to help you to use the machines. I only use the treadmill because that's the only one I figured out on my own on how to use.

We have had to cancel our family membership due to how disrespectful, negligent and unreassurable the short-haired lady is at the desk.

I’ve been to this location quite a few times and I thought it was a pleasant place, however the last few times what I noticed was not pleasant. In the summer I noted how the life guards were speaking to some children that happened to be African American they were speaking rude complaining about nearly everything the children did, I shrugged it off thinking maybe I was looking at it wrong. Today I went to go swimming and upon arrival I let the girl at the front desk know I was going swimming she said ok and checked me in. Me my father and my son changed into our swimsuits and we’re getting ready to get in when we were told oh there is know family because their hosting swimming lessons my boss just told me. It was weird because I’ve been there several times and Swam while they were doing swimming lesson’s. I feel it’s more to it. Honestly I felt discriminated. This is not the first or second time where I felt there was something weird going on here but today let me know I wasn’t wrong. The boss and the white employees seem a bit prejudiced with African Americans they definitely have their picks and chooses

Visited this location and Fran intentionally blocked access to the gym.

Fran is unprofessional, combative and intentionally disrespectful. Fran had white skin.

She intentionally put in the wrong card information. When I later called my bank they said she put in the wrong expiration date. It was one digit. This was despite being asked to put in the number several times.

She also wrote my card number down on a piece of paper.

Also noteworthy she asked another employee to read the card number out loud while there were people sitting in the lobby.

There was clearly an agenda here.

Also she coughed in her napkin twice. This is typical of secret societies.

She also threw the card down as opposed to hand it to me or place it nicely on the table.

Fran’s actions were discriminatory and unacceptable.

I would like to speak to the CEO about her behavior.

Came in with a friend who's a member to do a morning workout, the lady working the front was very sweet and friendly. Checked us in and I noticed right away how clean everything was, went upstairs and saw all the different workout machines available to use. TV's, a small lounge area by the windows, an Olympic sized swimming pool with a lifeguard. The workout area was clean and there were a few people working out. There's signs listed on the machine's asking to sanitize before and after your use, which I did... however did not see others doing the same before getting on or switching to other workout machines so I would highly suggest to wipe down before and after as a common courtesy since others do not. An employee was vacuuming the area and smiled. All in all this Y is a really good place to be apart of and would highly consider getting a membership of my own to the Y

I have a family membership with 24 hr access. I love it. Usually 5 or less of us at 5am get my workout done not crowded so it's plenty equipment. Only problem I have is during the morning they don't have childcare for my older kids 7 and 11 because of camp so I can't do a later morning class unless I put my 7 yr old in the baby class which she doesn't mind but there should be care for older kids in the morning like greenbrier and great bridge provides.

Normally like all the staff here but one girl lifeguard takes her job way too seriously. Kicked my toddler out of an empty pool because we came during “adult individual open swim” not “family open swim”. She had me laughing when she said the reason is because adults don’t really like the kids splashing around a lot. But I’m pretty sure every time we go to family open swim the “adult individual swim” is also scheduled at the same time.

Great place. Very friendly, courteous staff who answer all questions and go that extra mile with good customer service. Very clean facility also. They take COVID restrictions seriously and make safety a priority. Cheers and good props and votes to all who work at this YMCA. Very proud.
