We believe fitness should be accessible to all bodies and that exercise should be fun, not a punishment.
We consistently work on owning where we experience privilege and actively work to educate ourselves, listen to others, and engage in dialogue around dismantling oppression.
We are actively working to create a culture where the service we provide is as much fun for us as it is for you.
We value accessibility and sustainability, and that means paying our employees more than double the living wage in Asheville, making sure they have the benefits and protections they need & deserve, and making our offerings accessible at multiple price points.

I truly cannot recommend this gym, and space, enough. Whether you're looking for small group classes, personal training, or a gym that has everything you need without all the things you don't - this gym is the epitome of a safe space. They are very queer celebratory, body positive, anti-racist and inclusive of all levels of fitness and ability. I have never once felt anything less than celebrated when I walk through the doors. It's one of those places that heals a part of you that you didn't know you needed healed - which sounds wild to write for a gym, but it's the truth! Libby is an amazing trainer and instructor and there is something for everyone there. Betsy - thanks for creating such an inclusive and bad-ass gym

I love All Bodies! I have been doing the Bendy & Badass class for hypermobile folks for almost a year and I have become so much stronger. I feel more capable and my pain has decreased. The gym is so welcoming, I love that there are no mirrors, their commitment to anti-racist, trans-affirming, and queer-friendly movement is front and center. And the people are the best! I cannot believe I actually found a gym I miss when I’m not there!

Pros: Incredibly warm and welcoming gym environment, small class sizes, amazing trainers who truly care, wide range of equipment and movement offerings, wonderful community
Cons: pricey (but you pay for what you get), limited hours and days
Truly cannot say enough good things about All Bodies. While I’ve worked out at other inclusive and body-positive gyms before, this has been by far my favorite, and the one that’s not only kept me coming back but motivated me to start coming to the gym daily.
Betsy and the rest of the staff have worked hard and been very intentional about creating an environment that is welcoming for all. I take small group classes there, and every class is filled with people of all ages, sizes, and ability levels - but no one ever feels singled out or less capable, because every exercise is automatically offered with a range of accommodations and modifications.
Not only do I really enjoy the classes and the other people who go there (the classes I attend usually end up being between 3-8 people, which I love), but the trainers truly care. Though I’ve never done personal training, I get so much personalized attention from the trainers during classes that it feels like I have! Trainers are so knowledgeable, and the six months I’ve been going have really built my confidence alongside my strength and flexibility.
The only downside to me are the limited hours. I work from home and so am lucky enough to have a flexible schedule that can accommodate me taking the earliest class (8:30 AM) every day. But, if you work a traditional 9-5, want to work out super early, or prefer to primarily work out on weekends, this probably isn’t the space for you, simply because it won’t be open enough in your free time to make it worth it. I hope in the future they’re able to expand days and hours!
All in all, if you’re looking for a gym in Asheville - particularly if you’re nervous about being in a gym setting, or don’t know where to begin - I’d highly recommend All Bodies. Going there got me through a very difficult time in my life, and the morning classes remain a bright spot in my days. Definitely my favorite gym that I’ve ever been a member of!

I have nothing but positive things to say about all bodies movement and wellness! I have been working out with them for over a year. I feel incredibly supported and respected in my movement practice. I’m so grateful for the community they have created. The gym is also filled with accessible equipment and very clean. I recently had the opportunity to receive a massage/body work session with Angela. This was incredibly safe, supportive, and much needed! It was helpful to my physical and mental health. Thank you all bodies for all that you do!

After years of challenges finding a safe and inviting place to build a movement practice, I have found a gem that is All Bodies. The facilities are clean and comfortable, the staff are knowledgeable, kind, and passionate, the classes are plenty and varied, and they truly have a safe environment for *all bodies*. As a disabled, hypermobile individual, my quality of life has improved drastically since I started coming here and finding my strength in community. I encourage anyone with gym anxiety to make it out and see how empowering it can be to learn to move in a way that honors your body. Thank you to Betsy and her team for making this place a shining example of how inclusive a gym can be!

I’ve never been a gym person and I’ve always been anxious about strength training. My body has been lots of sizes, and part of going to the gym means feeling judged or having external expectations put on my body. I can’t put into words how great it felt to walk into a gym where I knew there’d be no mirrors, no judgment, and no pressure. Betsy and her team gave me the warmest welcome, and I already feel like I have a community after just a few weeks of attending. The time passes so quickly and I get 1:1 support while learning a new movement. Can’t recommend it enough!

The vibe here is really welcoming and I've never heard or seen (on the walls!) so much inclusive language in a workout space. The group class I attended felt almost like personal training within a small group. Support was tailored to me and my body, which felt really good.

All Bodies is changing the world! This is the one place on planet earth I feel free from the agenda of what my body "should" do or be. The teachers and participants are so friendly, and it feels so good to work out in a place that centers our humanity. It's truly unlike any other place I've ever experienced. I love All Bodies!

All Bodies is a haven in Asheville--a space of radical hospitality and joyful embodiment. Workouts are designed to meet each human exactly where we are. You leave stronger, more connected, and buoyed by the real truth that all bodies are good bodies. This is a culture of deep inclusion and play.

I've been doing private virtual training with Betsy at All Bodies Movement for about a year now and it has greatly improved my mobility and quality of life! I have a chronic illness and spent years struggling to find sustainable movement options without causing further pain and fatigue. Betsy has helped me learn how to listen to my body and pace myself while also building strength and mobility. Overall, my pain and fatigue have drastically decreased, and I am able to move my body in ways that I didn't think I'd ever be able to do enjoyably. All Bodies Movement has helped me repair my relationship with movement and my body, and I would highly recommend them!

Never in my life have I been able to keep a regular movement routine… until All Bodies! I’m so grateful for Betsy as she is the common denominator for so many good things in my life. Sometimes I show up because I want to sweat. Sometimes I show up because I want to stretch. Every time , I show up for the community.

I am so grateful that a friend told me about All Bodies Movement!! This is a gym where the trainers completely meet you where are you are… And there are no mirrors! As a fat, queer woman I feel completely at home in this gym, especially during small group strength classes.

This is easily the best place to workout in Asheville. I say that because not only is this a body positive LGBTQ+ friendly space but the workouts are fabulous and the instructors are wonderful humans who are damn good at their jobs. I started working out here last year and will never leave, it’s AMAZING!

The best fitness & wellness studio in town. As a fitness professional in a larger body who is also neurodivergent, it's the first fitness place I've felt like I can just relax, be myself, & have fun sharing the message of JOY in movement. 🥰

I wanted to take a couple of Betsy’s kettlebell classes to improve my form, but I ended up wanting to stay, even adding her strength class to my weekly routine. There is so much to learn from Betsy, and I can’t imagine a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere. These classes are exactly what I needed to relearn my post-partum body in a safe place and to help create some structure around reaching my fitness goals. I look forward to stretching, challenging myself, and learning something new about how the body works with each class.

Betsy and all the staff create such an incredibly kind and supportive enviornment. I'm really used to killing myself in the gym, and when I first started I was admittedly a bit skeptical of their gentle approach but my relationship with my body, mobility, and form have improved so much it's actually incredible. Also the community they've built is so giving, kind, and non judgemental and it keeps me coming back.

I’ve been seeing Betsy off and on for several years. I’ve learned so much about my body. When I bruised my sternum it was very difficult to get out of bed but because Betsy had taught me how to use different muscles to accomplish different moves I was able to do that and get up with minimal pain. I love working with her and with Sadie.

I've been training with Betsy for a few months now. I came to PlayFit looking for a way to change the relationship I had to exercise and that is exactly what Betsy has helped me do. Now, I not only exercise weekly with Betsy, but I also feel more capable and comfortable exercising on my own in other ways and actually having fun instead of suffering through it.
Because of the pandemic, I have spent more time training with Betsy remotely than in person at the studio and it has not hindered my experience at all. Betsy works with what I have at the house and figures out a fun routine to do that is engaging and exhausting.
If you're looking for a way to change the relationship you have with exercise and have some fun while moving your body, I highly suggest PlayFit AVL.

I have been pleased with the results of my workouts with Betsy. She has helped me gain physical strength and an overall sense of well being. Her directions are clear and well researched to fit my individual needs. The sessions are both fun and challenging and together we have worked toward balance and confidence in my abilities at age 74. Her sessions have been a tremendous boost to my mental health and energy level.

Betsy has been wonderful to work with -- and she does work me! Her special attention to my needs has been encouraging and rewarding. Even though I hire her as a Trainer, I get the benefit of her Coach and Counselor training as well! A total well-rounded experience. As my body gets stronger, so does my self confidence and overall well being.

PlayFit AVL, and Betsy in particular, are fantastic. She helped me get on an awesome trajectory towards a fit & healthy lifestyle, and it was fun the whole way. Taking into account the various idiosyncrasies my body would present (aches, pains, past injuries, etc.) she made sure I wasn't going to injure myself or do anything that might put me at risk. The exercises were fun and designed to never get boring. Thank you Betsy!
