Update: Overall, I recommend this place.

I left a negative review in late 2024. One of the owners promptly offered to give me a deeply discounted membership. I did not take them up on their offer, but I did continue to attend yoga classes at this studio for another year. Here is an updated review (2025):

Facilities: You can tell that the owners put a lot of thought and effort into the design and outfitting of this place. The yoga room, foyer, and dressing rooms are minimalist and calming, and everything you need is at hand.

Hot yoga classes: The yoga room is truly hot - not just warm - so if you are a fellow sauna-junkie, this is an amazing place to do yoga. There is a wide variety of classes, so there's almost sure to be one that in your favorite style. Most classes seem to have a set playlist which provides more of a gym-work-out vibe and less of a meditative vibe. Listening to the same music a couple times a week for months is not a dealbreaker, but the repetition can be a tad crazy-making.

The people: Marisa, one of the owners, is an inspiring and attentive teacher, a skillful small business owner, and an overall lovely person. There are several other teachers [like Rebecca (sp?)] who are great teachers, too. The community has a bit of cliquishness, and I have heard two of the staff gossiping in a whispers about someone who was present in the same room as them, which was disheartening.

Other: You can sign up for classes pretty easily via a browser, an app or in person. They almost always have a new student deal and/or a groupon special which make it very affordable to try.

Original review:

In sum: You have to have secret knowledge for the annual "doorbuster" sale.

I'm relatively new to the Durham Arrichion. I tried to take part in their annual "doorbuster" sale. I was there 15 minutes before the doors opened and took my place (third in queue). It was very cold (19F), which is why I had decided to only come 15 minutes early. A few minutes before the sale, some 7 other people came over to the door, and formed a new queue. They told those of us in the original queue that it wasn't actually a doorbuster sale. All you had to do was be in the parking lot. I pointed out that there was nothing about waiting in your car in the sale advertisement. The new queue ignored what I said. The person who opened the door glanced at our queue, turned back to the queue with the older members, and without asking any questions, gave them the "doorbuster" prizes.

Now, I appreciate that Arrichion wants their customers to be safe and warm. However, if the rules are that you wait in your car, then they should advertise as much. I would have happily arrived much earlier.

Since they did not post those rules, they privileged their older members who had been to the sale before. The place is cliquish, and I'm not sure if the favoritism is accidental or intentional. I hope it's an oversight, which is partially why I'm posting - maybe Arrichion will read this and do better in the future. If they don't ...well, that's the other reason I'm posting: I hope this warning and information is helpful to someone else in the future.

This place is awesome, don’t know much about the inside but everyone here is extremely helpful and attentive. My truck was experiencing issues and stalled near the entrance. In a matter of seconds I was being offered assistance and even got popsicles while I waited for help (lol). If I had a great experience in the parking lot I’m sure going inside is even better. Not much of a yoga person but thought I’d leave a review. I appreciate the help And I wish you guys much success.

Final update: I decided to give this place another try. The instructor apologized for what happened during my previous visit, and was very helpful during today's class which was quite challenging (in a good way!). I appreciate it, and hence removing the person's name from my review below. Cheers!

Class: 5 stars | Employee Attitude: 3 stars

I previously took a class at the Raleigh branch after a friend invited me using her guest pass and I really enjoyed it. Since the Durham center is closer, I decided to try the introductory 2-week plan. Today was my first class at this center, and unfortunately, I don't see myself continuing here for a full time membership due to an instructor's rudeness. Instead of a warm welcome as a first-time customer, I was mildly accused (incorrectly) of doing something wrong. It didn't feel nice, and I would rather not work out at a place where you don't feel welcome.

Details:

I was asked if I'd been here before, to which I responded that I'd been to the Raleigh center. To this, the instructor said, you're not supposed to do that, i.e., use the introductory 2 week offer. I then further explained that my Raleigh visit was using a friend's guest pass. All he needed to do was say something along the lines of Oh I'm sorry. I found him to be needlessly rude. First, even if let's say I had taken the intro membership at a different location (which I hadn't), the onus is on the business website to not let such customers purchase another intro pass. As opposed to the expectation that we're "not supposed to do that". Second, he could have either withheld making an accusation with limited info, or said a quick sorry. It goes a long way. I thought he might realize his mistake on his own later, so I thanked him as I was leaving after the class, hoping he would say something or at least ask how my first class was, and I would have brought up what happened, but none of that. I might just drive the extra 20 minutes to the Raleigh center instead, though I may try a few more classes at Durham to see if this experience balances out with other instructors. The pilates class was good!

Update on response from owner: I was NOT in violation of company policy. Everything that happened is in my review. I don't see why it is on me to spend more time talking/texting. The least I think I ought to have been offered is a refund since I bought a pass, but not actually utilizing it because of their employee's behavior.

Classes are challenging, thank God! Nice place, nice fellow students, great (and nice) instructors. Only suggestion: I would love to have perhaps special sessions with more critiques and suggestions on how to improve postures and movements. Such special sessions could be infrequent, but periodic, perhaps quarterly, feedback could accelerate student progress. My two cents. Thanks for your commitment to a very rewarding program.

Took my first class today, the Tiger's Eye. It was soooo good. It's half hot yoga, half circuit training. It kicked my butt! A great challenge. As a mom and full time student, it's very difficult for me to focus if I go to the gym by myself. I figured classes would be the best for me and glad I gave Arrichion Durham a try. Definitely think you should too. I've signed up for more classes. They offer a variety and looking forward to trying as many as I can.

An open love letter to Black Opal (Th 9:15am):
Class typically begins with Marisa asking us to call to mind an intention. ‘What brought you to the mat today?’ And initially my intentions were always physical: better hip flexibility, upper body strength, endurance. All valid, but I noticed my mind was receiving just as much benefit and my reasons for coming to the mat shifted. Simply put, I feel better mentally when I walk out of class than when I walk in. Always ❤️

Felt very welcomed by the staff/owner. I hadn’t done hot yoga in over 3 years because of covid. I was really nervous of starting a new at a new studio. It was so close to my home that I finally decided to give it a go. It was inviting. It was a wonderful calm to my hectic day. Excited to return.

Arrichion is a runner’s best friend!!! I have barely run in the last year, instead choosing to focus on cross training. With 5-6 sessions a week at Arrichion Durham, I have gotten TONS stronger, much more agile, my balance has improved tremendously, and I am much better able to focus and “be here now.” Arrichion equals results! Yesterday I ran a long trail race that I’ve done almost annually for the past 13 years. I felt stronger than ever, stayed upright, placed well among women despite my advanced age, and am not at all sore today. Thank you Arrichion! Y’all are the best.

I moved to the area a year and a half ago for grad school. I used to do hot yoga and pilates back in Boston multiple times a week and LOVED my studio there. Over the first year I was in Durham I tried multiple hot yoga studios and never really felt welcomed. I found Arrichion a few months ago and instantly felt welcomed and uplifted. They focus on what feels good for you and your body instead of doing the "right" pose. They are so welcoming and have such a wide variety of classes. I cannot recommend this studio enough! Try it out!!

I recently joined and I keep telling people this place is definitely humbling me. 😬 I did CrossFit and Baptiste yoga in Boston for a lot of years and Arrichion makes me feel like a beginner in everything….in a good way! I’m old (ha, seriously) and have injuries, and surgery as recently as two months ago, yet I feel like I can walk into classes at Arrichion and do what makes ME feel ok, and not compete with other people (cough, cough Crossfit). There’s coaching, but no pressure, so you can optimize the classes in a way that works for you.

The yoga heat is 🔥🔥🔥. I’ve wanted to find a place where the heat is on par with Baptiste and this is IT! Yay. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to hold poses and again, I feel like a beginner. Same for hot Pilates, the heat and poses are so great. Don’t be afraid of any of this - your body will thank you.

The circuit class is a group and I like the vibe - everyone’s working together and YOU determine how heavy or light you can go. If you’re injured you can work around it. You will see trap bars, assault bikes, etc. and again, do not let this intimidate you. It’s for everybody.

In short, try the trial, and then join. 😊

This is absolutely the best yoga studio around with an amazing variety of classes. Every single instructor is so passionate, knowledgeable, and wants the best experience for every member. I leave feeling like I accomplished MUCH more than a “workout”. Pre-COVID I had a membership for many years and recently just signed back up and it has been the BEST decision I could have made for SO many reasons. My body and mind truly missed all of the benefits this studio brings.

Having been a long time Arrichion/yoga enthusiast, I had been out of the fitness game for several years after a serious medical issue. I returned to Arrichion several months ago feeling anxious that I would not be able to get back into the groove. Love the studio and staff. Studio is very clean and well maintain. Also love the diversity of classes which make it spicy and keeps me on my toes. The variety of class is good from strength, flexibility, balance and core work. The instructors are really nice, friendly and professional. My only reservation is non correcting of form during the poses. One of the reason that I prefer in class as opposed to in-home yoga is because the instructors can correct my form because I don’t see myself and their guidance helps to improve the experience. I have taken a few classes with different instructors and there was only one that corrected the students form and gave personalize feedback. I feel feedback in yoga make it more meaningful.

Such a great facility and so many options and times to choose from. The best thing I would say about Arricchion it's the culture--everyone is just so friendly and there is genuine camaraderie in each class. I am so thankful to have found this place. I was looking for fitness classes and hot yoga to supplement my training with a private coach and whala! this place has both! The vibe is energetic and friendly and the studio is clean and BEAUTIFUL. Even the showers are like being in a spa. Steve is amazing at coaching the circuit training classes -- he is motivating and keeps us all pushing ourselves to achieve maximum success. Marissa is super sweet and her yoga classes are fantastic. I have tried so many fitness places here in the Triangle and I have finally found my place. Also the ladies and gents that attend the classes are very friendly and it feels like a community. Everyone leaves sweating and smiling. I am also very picky about things being clean (even before the pandemic) and this place is brand new and gorgeous. It is a joy to be a member of this facility.

I’ve been out of a fitness routine for a WHILE. I needed something that could help ease me back in, but that I could also continue to grow with as I get stronger - this. is. it!

Arrichion has an accessible class schedule, incredible & knowledgeable instructors, and its suitable for all levels of fitness. I’ve been going to Arrichion for several years and I can’t say enough good things about the space, the people, and the practice. It is a place that promotes both physical and mental wellness and strength, and is interested in you as an individual and not a number. I’ve practiced yoga for over half my life, and I have never been as connected to my body as I am now because of Arrichion. Marisa in particular is an especially gifted yoga instructor. So much personal growth and healing has happened there on my mat (and in the circuit room); I can truly say I am stronger, more motivated, more flexible, and more grounded. I’m so grateful. 10/10 recommend :)

I was excited to take my friend here for her first hot yoga class. We arrived right at 12 pm. The owner/instructor, Steve, was extremely rude because we still needed to change.
He said he would rather us just leave since we were not on time. I would not recommend this place. The owner needs to attend an anger management class instead of teach yoga. Yoga instructors are typically very zen; this guy is not. If you can survive the check in you might survive his class. SMH

I was really excited to check this place out as it was right around the corner from my house. I had done hot yoga before, and loved it. So I was pretty excited about going here. I signed up for a class that was half yoga half HIIT. The hot yoga was a packed room, and definitely got hot. After I did yoga next was the HIIT portion and was really struggling. I was really hot and sweaty from hot yoga and was dragging because I had never done a HIIT class. I had to take breaks to catch myself and the coach kept yelling for me to come on. I really felt as though I might pass out as there was no A/C on the in place. (visited summer 19) Long story short, I decided to leave during the middle of the class. The coach scolded me in front of the entire class. Telling me that I can’t leave during his class. Needless to say, I never returned. No desire to be part of a place that doesn’t care about someone’s health.
Update: Had a pleasant conversation on the phone with Marissa, and she addressed all my concerns. I appreciate her taking the time to follow up about my experience, and felt heard by her. Adding a star for her customer service.

Arrichion has been such a rock for me during this really crazy year of 2020, I'm sure I would have figured out something in terms of activity during the pandemic but having yoga as my core and it being taught in such a consistent class series def allowed me to focus and see real progress in my form rather than just showing up and thinking I might have gotten better. All the teachers at Arrichion know their stuff and it shows, all classes always provide the best base level which is a great 45 minute yoga workout and with so many of the cues and poses being standardized like they are, it really allows you to focus on those forms which up the game of your overall practice. If you are excited to do a pose and biff the F out of it, you can always do the same class the next day or sometime that week and try again in the same general conditions so it is just you and your form that can be measured. Thanks to you all for providing me with such a great tool for healthy lifestyle success when so many others are gaining weight and feeling depressed due to inactivity during this pandemic. I have and will continue to recommend Arrichion Hot Yoga to all who will listen!

Often times, working out is treated like a chore. It is something you do to maintain your life, similar to buying on a busy day groceries, changing your oil, dusting your apartment, etc. And certain chores, to the right people, are simple pleasures with easily executable goals. Pure exercise and I have never had that relationship until I started going to Arrichion. The motivation to push yourself and supportive community comes to Arrichion work outs naturally, mostly thanks to the amazing owners/staff. And its hard. Everything you do there will push you and you may even hate it in the middle parts. I won't deny that I feel that way at times in the middle of their standard 45 minute classes. But I never leave a workout there without feeling immensely better for it. If you are looking for a different work out experience and to sweat it out some, drop by Arrichion with a towel and water bottle. You won't regret it.

I have VERY high standards for yoga as I have been practicing for a long time and I have been to more studios than I can count. Being a yogi is a very big part of my identity and it's not something I compromise on. This is THE PLACE! It's hard to put into words how much I love Arrichion! If I had to narrow it down to the one thing that made it most special, it would be the owners. Steve and Marisa are the world's best people! They have walked alongside of me as I have returned from 2 of the hardest I've ever been through. They did that with so much love and they never babied me. For the past 3 years I have been coming to Arrichion Durham, and it has become the highlight of my day. I struggle with several health conditions that make it very difficult to have the energy and motivation to exercise. The owners (Marissa & Steve), teachers, and people who go to Arrichion turn a studio full of hot, sweaty bodies who come through the doors from all different walks of life, into a place where regardless of age, appearance, or fitness level; all are welcome and all belong. My doctors are astounded at how strong I have become and the quality of life I am able to maintain because of Arrichion. The classes are a great mixture of hot yoga poses, flow, weights/cardio, and they even have a non heated class!
They also give you the chance to meet the people you are around each day to further develop relationships with the people you see often.
Thank you for the opportunity to experience a place like this...I don't know anywhere else you will find such great personalities, or a Marissa and Steve, [especially A STEVE...who, shows he’s most excited you’re a part of his classes if he yells at you—you will end up loving him as much as all the rest of us]. Thank you for creating a unique family, and making a room full of sweaty people who over half you don't know that well, feel like a home. ❤️

Arrichion is THE best! You have so many different classes to choose from and you leave feeling with the awesome combination of tired yet empowered (and absolutely drenched). Not to mention the incredible teachers and community they’ve created. Definitely worth a try!!

Five years ago I took my first class at Arrichion Durham (Bloodstone). I remember thinking after class that it was tough, but not sure it was right for me. One thousand eight hundred and forty one classes later, I think I am ready to write a review. In a word, this place is Awesome! The instructors (from Little Lemon to the Mean Gentleman) are incredible folks who find new ways to teach and motivate each and every class (Trust Me)! I encourage everyone to give Arrichion.Durham a try. You may not be sure after your first class, but then again neither was I.

This is fantastic mix of personal training, yoga, and weight lifting which results in a little something for everyone. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy way to get into fitness, or someone who really wants to challenge themselves.

What is hot yoga? I thought I would die trying it. Why wouldn't I think that with class names like Bloodstone? After three classes at Arrichion with Marisa and her instructors, I live to review their joint! If you do not like a sense of community, attention of instructor, good and clear instructions, straight to the point group exercise, excessive sweating, good music (to me anyways) than this place ain't for you. The sign up process takes just five minutes. One of the staff will give you a tour. You can start sweating right after. This place is friendly, straight up and from what I have experienced, they have not asked or pestered me to join or sign up for anything. I love places that conduct business like this. Let the consumer buy based on your merits. No marketing or gimmicks needed. I am getting me a package and utilize hot yoga to rebuild pliability. What a gem within the Durham, North Carolina community at South Point. Swing by and give this place a try. Currently special is just $20 for 20 straight days of classes. Take any class that you want to try. Get to class early or you may miss out!

Great experience! This is not your typical yoga studio. So many choices and times of classes and you don’t feel out of place if you cannot do each move. Awesome instructors and yummy ice pops after class! I will be back and I will be bringing friends with me!

I first started taking classes at Arrichion last year at the suggestion of my wife. I was running a lot and looking for a way to stretch out. Since that time, Arrichion has become my favorite place to exercise. I love this place. I recognize everyone's definition of yoga is unique and sincerely feel that Arrichion offers such a wide variety of classes that one of them is probably right for you. If you're looking for a physically challenging workout you would enjoy Tigers Eye (a unique hybrid class) or MMA yoga. Someone looking for a more traditional yoga class should maybe try Topaz or Bloodstone. They also offer strength training and conditioning class (Sparta). No matter what class you take, you will SWEAT and leave feeling like you have worked hard.

I think one of the things that sets this place apart is the owners and instructors here. From my first day to a year in, I have always felt welcomed and supported in my practice. There is a great sense of community.

I recommend Arrichion to anyone looking for a great workout in a great environment. Here are a few tips...
-Try different classes. They are all very unique so you may love some and not others.
-Bring a water bottle and a towel. You will sweat. A lot.
-Be on time. Classes start right on time and they do not allow late entry

They use a RECORDING. There's no instructor. They play bad pop music louder than any yoga ive been to in 15 years.

I am not a "yoga person" but I love this place! I've tried several times over the years to get into yoga and always fizzled out. But Arrichion is different -- and in a good way (at least for me!). I'm sticking with it this time. The heat does take some getting used to, but your body does adapt. Marissa, one of the owners/instructors, gives great cues to keep you on track and focused. The owners and instructors always greet everyone by name when you walk in the front door. The place is very clean and organized. I appreciate that they lock the door and start class right on time and uninterrupted (I say this even though I got locked out once when I was running late). :)

This studio is great for Hot Yoga lovers! Beautiful, clean facility, great instructors, and fun classes. Also, front desk and support staff always have a smile on their faces and that's great to see before you go in to torture yourself with a brisk Hot Yoga class! :)
