It truly breaks my heart to write this review, because my daughter loves her coaches at ACM and has grown up in this gym. The coaching staff who work directly with the kids genuinely care about them. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the ownership and the overall environment they create.

As our daughter has moved into the older, more advanced levels, it’s become impossible to ignore the fact that the “littles” get nearly all the attention — because they’re the “cash cow” of the gym. The older girls routinely go long stretches with little to no coaching, no spotting, even in skills that require guidance while Becca’s managing the little kids or worse yet, fussing on her phone.

Also, when someone gets injured, they're not getting proper attention or modified training plans—and coaches get frustrated if girls say something hurts.
Plus, because Becca’s the only one who (she, as the owner) is a qualified choreographer, the girls go 2+ years with the same floor routine.

There are also longstanding facility issues that never seem to be addressed. There’s been talk for ages about a pit that still hasn’t materialized. This has a direct impact on our daughters’ ability to cultivate skills safely, and sadly, it’s resulting in her floundering.

On the rare occasion I HAVE been in the building (the outside is littered with signs saying “keep out”, it’s been cluttered, dirty, and trashy. The place has the feel of a junkyard.

The most painful part is the relationship with ownership. Becca is good with the kids, but consistently unpleasant and dismissive with parents. Her mom is even worse. The message is loud and clear: parents aren’t welcome, and our input isn’t valued. Communication is minimal, unprofessional, and often openly unfriendly. This matches what so many other reviewers have said. It’s heartbreaking, because we’d gladly keep investing thousands of our hard-earned dollars every year if we were simply treated with basic respect and clear communication.

I’m posting this under an alternate Gmail because I fear that being honest would lead to them taking it out on our daughter and certainly we sense we’d be treated with even less respect… which I think says everything about the culture parents are navigating.

Sadly, we’re now looking into moving our daughter to OSEGA in Fletcher, even though it’s much farther, simply because she deserves consistent coaching, transparency, and we deserve an environment where the leadership matches the financial investment we parents make with commensurate respect and dignity.

I wish this weren’t our experience. The potential at ACM is huge. But the persistent issues with ownership, communication, cleanliness, and lack of support for older gymnasts make it impossible for us to stay without MAJOR changes.

And the thing is that these are EASY problems to fix. I’m a business owner and have been for ages…the owners are the biggest threat to the continued success of ACM. If they simply hired friendly humans who want to interface with parents, they could thrive. But as it stands, they seem totally attached to driving this gym into the ground. If I weren’t so busy, I’d open a competing gym in Asheville proper and give some of the MANY other parents who’ve had such horrible experiences with them a place to confidently bring their kids.

I really wanted to like this gym, but the experience has been disappointing. On the first day, 3-year-olds were taken to the drop off area that leads into the parking lot before the coach made sure the parents were there. The drop off location in itself is unsafe and disorganized.

The layout and parent viewing setup are also challenging. Parents can either stand outside next to a busy road or sit in a very small room with limited visibility. The gym door for the outside viewing area isn’t always open, and the small room used to have 1 picnic table, but no longer has that so you are required to stand or bring your own chairs. There are signs everywhere about where parents aren’t allowed, and the tone of some of the posted rules feels unwelcoming to parents. The small viewing room even says it’s provided as a “courtesy to customers” with no food, drinks, or active children allowed. This makes things really difficult for parents who have younger siblings with them, and would like to watch their child in the gym as well.

Another frustration is that you’re required to pay the full amount upfront, which makes it even more frustrating when the experience doesn’t meet the expectations.

I will say the only positive to this experience has been my child’s coach seems to provide a safe and positive atmosphere. Other than the first day pick up mishap, we really like Ms. Nicole, and the structure of the program. We wish we could continue at this gym, but given the lack of safety for the drop off and pick up locations, as well as the lack of viewing areas, it makes it seem like parents aren’t welcomed. It’s especially disappointing because this is the only gymnastics option on the north side of town, and it has so much potential.

This establishment is very anti parent. They make it very difficult to view your child. The outdoor viewing area is less than ideal and has been closed off at times even with decent weather. The indoor viewing area is even worse. You have to be right up against the glass if you want to see in. There’s one pick-nik table inside and it’s positioned in a way that you can not see at all if you use it. No fan, no food or drinks allowed, it’s mostly an awkward nearly empty room. They have an area that appears to be a parent viewing area with seating that looks nice but will not allow anyone to use it.
The first class session we had when the sessions was over the teacher opened the gate releasing the 3 year old class into the parking lot and immediately turned back inside and did not verify that the kids got to their parents or even safely through the parking lot. Since then they have done a much better job making sure the kids get to their parents but that should never happen to begin with.
Not to mention the classes are supposed to be just 50 minutes long and every single session has been exactly 40 minutes. Not that, that would be that big of a deal but it just seems dishonest.
Lastly they started doing automatic enrollments for future classes though that was not part of the initial sign up. I’m not thrilled to know that they feel it is okay to charge you for future classes and have a No refund policy as well.

We have had nothing but amazing experiences at ACM! My daughter has done gymnastics here since age 3 and now that she's in kindergarten she does the after school program and day camps as well. The teachers make her feel so welcome and supported. The ACM owners and staff have been incredible in the aftermath of hurricane Helene. I am still amazed at how quickly they have been able to renovate and reopen and their communication during the recovery process has been incredible. We love them like family

My son loves the gymnastics program, ninja skills class, and of course the Fun Nights! We love coach Erica, who is always kind and encouraging. I do have to say that we don't like that adults can't enter the building. In fact, I prefer to be allowed access to my child at any time. Also, I'd like to see the place close up and see that the coaches are actually saying to the kids. There's a strange feeling around the management.

The place just feels kind of bizarre and off. We signed our toddler up for wild things free play. No one ever greeted us or explained anything to us (like here’s the bathroom, here’s where you put your things, no introductions, etc). We went to about three weeks of free play time and then stopped going because my daughter wasn’t really that into it and the whole vibe felt so unwelcoming and nothing like a community. We’ve been going to the little gym and it’s like night and day, we love it there.

My daughter loves the teachers and staff at Asheville community movement. The owner’s Angie and Becca truly care about the kids and have set up some fantastic classes for kids of all ages. My daughter had gained confidence and strength which has in turned helped her with her other sports as well.

My experience echos many of the other reviewers’. They were unresponsive to emails and phone calls but somehow I managed to get my kid registered for a class. On our first day I walked into the office to introduce ourselves and the woman at the desk was incredible unfriendly! She even shooed me out of the lobby while I was browsing clothes for sale because she noticed me linger to watch my child in class. In general I always felt unwelcome to come in to the lobby or use the restroom. And my daughters instructor never gave us any feedback about our child’s progress or abilities. I have no idea why they use the word “Community” in their name because they seem irritated by their customers. Even their rules for Summer camp read like a long list of pet peeves! It’s too bad that they are the only place to do gymnastics on this side of town.

I am disappointed at the lack of communication, customer service and professionalism. Myself and a friend made multiple unanswered phone calls, left messages that were never returned, sent emails that went unanswered and finally showed up in person to talk to someone about classes. Their website states they open at 10am. When we arrived we had to wait until 10:30 before an employee arrived and when they did they said none of the office staff were there. We wrote down our contact info (both of us) and were told we would be contacted. I received a call around 6pm that night by someone who sounded confused why I would be calling. I had a few questions that he answered and then I text my friend to tell her she would likely get her call soon, but they never called her. We got on the waitlist for a class specifically for kids aged 5-6, kindergarten. We had 3 additional families get on the waitlist with us as well. Today (2 days before the sessions start) I got an email saying I “registered for the wrong class” and they sent me a link to enroll for the “right class.” I was very confused because I was registered for the kindergarten 5-6 yr old class. My kid is 6, she is in kindergarten. I looked at the class they told me was the “right” one and it is for 6-7 year olds and specifically says “Now that your child understands the structure of our classes and has become familiar with the equipment…”. I have no idea why this would be the right class when my child has never been to their gym. I read the outlines of the courses and picked the one that best fit for my child, going by their own standards. I found the email very off putting and felt it was a poor way of trying to offer me a different type of class because the one we wanted is full. It would have been perfectly acceptable for them to email and let me know that our class wouldn’t have an opening but there are openings in the more advanced class. I find it unprofessional to email me saying I am in the “wrong class” to force my hand to fill up a different class that we didn’t choose for a reason.

I have pulled my kid off the waiting list, one of my friends has already done the same. The other 3 will likely be following suit. You’d think having a group of 5-6 kids wanting to join a class would urge them to create a new class at that level. Instead they want to push kids into a class they’re not ready (plus it isn’t even offered on the same day/time as the one we were waiting for!) Really disappointed all around.

My 6 year old daughter has been coming here for aftercare and she absolutely loves it. She comes home with lots of art projects and yarn and says she can’t wait to go back. The aftercare staff has been wonderful and SO kind to us.

Hostile management/owner Angie after they misplaced our daughter’s glasses. See other reviews that also talk about this same pattern of hostility towards parents. Any time you enter the office they act like you’re crazy for being in there or they just ignore you. Incredibly rude. Dirty facility. Lots of substitute teachers.

Staff aren’t the friendliest and for what the place costs just for our 2yo to attend, it’s somewhat appalling at how dirty and potentially dangerous the place is. There’s broken chairs crumpled in arms length to children, dust/dirt all over the mats and a cringey, rusty play ground outside… really a few hours spent on spiffing up the place would go a long ways. Despite my view of it, our kid loves it.

My daughter wanted to start gymnastics. I called a month out from their late August start date to ask how to register for the next set of classes. I was told that registration didn't open until a couple of days before class started. So today I went to register my kiddo and found that not only could I not register for August classes, but that their September classes already have a wait list. What it boils down to is these people are liars.

We signed our daughter up for their gymnastics camp at the beginning of July..

After her first few days of camp, my daughter had complained that the teachers were unfair. She told us that they break their own rules when playing games..

I wanted to get my own perspective on the place, but they had refused all entry to parents. When I walked in the front office to introduce myself, I was greeted with abrupt hostility. Even though we had paid them over $400 dollars, and we were first time clients.

They offered me "an observation area" but it was totally bogus. It's set to the side, off to the far left, out of the way.
We could not see our kid at all from there. It looked like it had been barricaded to keep the homeless people out. There were rusty nails, and 2x4's everywhere. See images attached as reference.

I found the people running the place to be very unfriendly and quick to make assumptions about me and my family.

My problem here really was their lack of transparency with me as a parent. If we can't walk in and say hello to someone, talk about her progress with her coach, etc.. im not interested in sending my 6 year old daughter there. They offered no casual conversation, not even a hello when I walked through the door.

This interaction alone is worth 1 star.

I do not recommend.

Great gymnastics classes! The teachers are wonderful. My daughter has learned so much and has a blast. I will say — They can be incredibly hard to reach by phone or email if you need information. Sure wish they were more responsive.

This is hands down the best place for kids in all of Asheville! We have used them for summer camp, after school care, classes, and birthday parties. Our son now 11 is more confident, more proud, more accepted, a better team player, a better rule follower and just a better person for having spent quality time here over the last 6 years! We loved them so much before the pandemic but even more so now! We trust their care, their policies, their kindness! If we could rate them a 10 it wouldn’t be high enough!! Thank you ACM you are a true gift to kids and parents in Asheville!! We love you alll♥️

ACM is the BEST place for children to grow. Period. The coaches are motivated to see your child succeed - from high competitive level skills to your child's first steps on the high beam, the coaches want to see your child do their very best! Not only are the staff knowledgeable and passionate about gymnastics, but they truly care about each and every child that walks into the facility. Knowing your child at the human level is a priority here, and unlike any other child sports facility in the area. If you want your child to be supported by a loving community of peers, friends, coaches, and counselors while always having a blast, ACM is a no-brainer choice for your family!

My sister has attended ACM for 5 years and has grown so much. It is such a supportive environment -- all the coaches and staff care about each child and encourage and train them in a way that is specific to them. Every child is important at every level and the staff don't ignore little details. It's so cool that the owners still know so many of the families personally even though it's grown tremendously. We've been with the gym almost since it first opened, through the ups and downs of a new business, and have been so glad we decided to come. It's a super positive place with talented and dedicated coaches, owners, and families. It's like a second home.

I can’t say enough about what Asheville Community Movement has done for my family. Besides teaching and coaching gymnastics, and all that goes with it, they’ve provided plenty of daycare/afterschool services for us. Has it been perfect? Of course not. Is anything perfect? But, there’s a lot of discipline, work, wins, losses, pain, coaching, parenting, love, etc.. My girls benefit greatly from their entire experience at ACM. Thank you Angie, Becca and everyone that busts their butts for our kids.

Amazing facility. I’ve been at ACM from the beginning. My time here has never been anything but positive, encouraging, and so fun! 5 years of gymnastics taught me so much. I was always pushed to my fullest potential. Not only is the gymnastics program awesome but fun night as well! Even after 4 hour practices I loved fun night. The counselors were always fun and upbeat. ACM’s main goal is to have a loving community that is strong, supportive, happy, and confident! This community has brought so much love and support into my life. Seeing how hard this family works to provide everything they can to costumers and employees is truly amazing.

I would not even consider taking my kids anywhere else.

You could not pay me to take my child back here. This facility is disgusting. The bathrooms rarely have TP or soap the floors look like they've never seen a mop and the actual gym always has dirt and trash of some sort. Though a "peanut free" facility I personally found broken up pieces of peanut in the are used for the Wild Things class which is for infants to 3-4 yo's. I've enrolled in the Wild Things program for two winter's as a way to keep my LO active in the colder months. The first time the ball pit was covered for the entire session because a child pee'd in it and they had to clean it. I understand accidents happen but really? 12 weeks and it was never cleaned. This winter I decided to try it again since the location was convenient for us. $85 later, after $25 registration fee, I've decided we'd never go back after attending 3-4 sessions. Coupled with the fact that the facility still hasn't seen any sort of cleaning supplies since last winter the director is horrible. She's extremely rude and even though I proactively spoke to her about my daughter's Aunt & cousins joining her for a session, which she was fine with, she ended up being very rude and disrespectful to them and my spouse for absolutely no reason. It wasn't worth my time to speak with her about this when I knew better than to go for round 2 in the first place so we gave up on the remaining sessions and will make the trip to the cleaner more reputable facilities in the future.

This place is awesome. It isn't as crowded as the Gym downtown. I brought my child here for a morning play for toddlers. it was only a few bucks for an hour. She had so much fun playing with a little boy who had just dismissed from class, and I even made a friend. It seemed a little overwhelmingly large for a gym when I first arrived, but my kid used the whole space; riding plasma scooters, rolling palls, jumping in balls, balancing, rebounding, and such. The staff is friendly, and I am looking into classes for my other children now.
...and the train went by which was so impressionable for my daughter. She refers to this place as "Nastics with a train" lol!
