Before I started training with Brian and APT, I was unhappy with my perimenopause weight gain and body composition. I had no experience going to the gym and was intimidated by this. I am so pleased that I found Brian and APT to work with individually in a private setting that offered an impressive variety of high end equipment and expertise. Brian created a personal training program for me that kept my workouts fresh and interesting. Brian taught me proper techniques and mechanics to avoid injury and was flexible with my schedule. Asheville Personal Training was my first experience with having a personal trainer. From the first meeting with Brian, I knew it was going to be a great experience. Not only was it completely catered to my level of fitness and lifestyle, but Brian was very much in support of my goals. He even made recommdations on equipment and exercises I could do at home. I'd never gone to a PT (or gym for that matter) for the first 20 some odd years of my life, so I hope it comes across as a glowing review when I say that coming here has not only felt beneficial for my physical health, but has also become an important part of my mental health. No matter how I feel when going into a session, I always come out feeling amazing, so I'm always bummed on weeks when I can't make it to APT. I've only worked with Cliff so far (who has been amazing) but I'm sure the rest of the staff is just as great. If you're hesitant about trying personal training for the first time, take my word for it and give this place a shot. 10/10 would PT again.

I have been going to APT for personal training for over two years. The facility is well equipped and conducive to a good workout. My current trainer is Drew. I have been working with him since he joined APT. He tailors my program to my goals, varies the workout in order to keep it fresh and interesting and I always leave feeling I have had a good session. Drew is courteous and thoughtful and I always feel he makes our time together a priority.

Overpriced like crazy. Guy just sits in the office and tells you exercises to do while your there. No real guidance or personal training considering that's what your supposed to be paying for. 3 sessions are around $500!!!

This new gym is a welcome addition to Asheville. It is very well-equipped. In addition, the personal trainer (Michelle Kuhnen) rocks. She is both friendly and knowledgeable. I have worked with her for nearly a year, and I especially appreciate the home workout she has designed for me. I recommend Asheville Personal Training highly.
8.1.2024: Update ... I have used Asheville Personal Training for the past several years and remain very impressed with the firm. In particular, I appreciate the fact that during Covid, we started to train using Facetime--making it possible for me to continue with my training. I was so impressed with how that worked that I have continued to train this way, thus saving me both time and gas.

I've been training at APT for a few months, and am very happy with the level of service they provide. I have always had issues dieting and exercising because I just didn't know how to do them the right way. My trainer Alex came up with an exercise regimen that's challenging, but not impossible, and helped me to create a healthy and nutritions meal plan. He's also cheerful, knowledgeable, accommodating, and is able to demonstrate exercises in a way which makes them easy for me to duplicate. He's like a coach and a cheerleader all in one. I've met four other trainers during my workouts (Grace, Michelle, Zack, and Riley), and found them all to be so kind and encouraging. I heartily recommend calling to schedule a consultation.

The owner Michelle K and I go way back. She is the best personal trainer I have ever had. During my first occasion to have her as a trainer she could tell that I was struggling and wasn’t committed 100%, but she never judged me and said when I was ready she’d be there for me. A few months later I came back and told her I was ready to commit to working out and sticking to it, and she said “great, let’s go”. During the next 5 months I shed an enormous amount of weight, and learned great workout advice and instruction from her, which I still use today. My one regret with having Michelle as my personal trainer is that she’s not my trainer right now because I had to move. If I still lived in the Asheville area, I’d still be working out with her. Her and the company and culture she created and continues to cultivate is a positive environment that I cannot see anyone not enjoying.

I was looking for a personal trainer close to work and home and not at a big noisy gym. I needed some quiet, one-on-one education and A.P.T. was just the right size, had all the equipment, and had a big open space to work out. There was no waiting to use machines or being stared at by other gym users and my trainer worked around my schedule. I was matched up with Lindsey and could tell on day one of training that she is passionate about personal training and helping people reach their goals. I originally was hesitant to search for a personal trainer because I was worried my coach would act like a drill sergeant. I'm also 41 years old, hadn't worked out in years, and didn't have enough upper body strength to do even one push-up on day one. Lindsey set me at ease and slowly helped me gain strength at a pace that was manageable for me. She is amazing, upbeat and just a positive person, someone you want in your corner while you are trying to meet your fitness goals. She was very patient with me as I learned new exercise moves, and she encouraged me to push myself in a way that felt comfortable and possible for me. I also was excited and surprised that I started to see results in my body way earlier than I expected. I cannot recommend Lindsey and A.P.T. enough! She is the coach you want by your side on your fitness journey!

One of the best decisions I made for my health was getting started at Asheville Personal Training! My trainer Zach is great to work with and is able to cater workouts to my specific needs since I have back issues. Back pain has always felt like a limiting factor to me, but Zach has been able to help me achieve my goals despite that. Everyone at the gym is super friendly and encouraging, and it’s always really clean. The fact that it is a private gym specifically for personal training sessions gives you the comfort and space you need to get familiar with the equipment and new types of exercises if you are a beginner. The accountability factor is also a huge bonus - the trainers really care about your progress and are excited to help you grow. All of these things have been a game changer for me and are the reason why my motivation to get fit will carry on long after my training sessions have ended and I begin to venture out on my independent fitness journey. I worked with Zach, he is extremely knowledgeable and supportive. When I first considered personal training, I was expecting a boot camp environment, where I would be pushed past my limits in order to see results. I found the exact opposite at APT. I have been training at APT for several months, initially to prepare. for a cycling event out West. Michelle, owner and trainer, worked with me to develop a plan to train for the event. She took time to understand where I needed to focus to get ready, then we went to work.
Since completing the event, I have continued regular training to increase my cycling and hiking performance, and overall fitness . Michelle has continued to create training programs for my needs and goals as a mature athlete with some "mileage". She selects exercises which address

One size definitely does not fit all. APT is always warm and welcoming. The trainers are professional and the space is clean and comfortable. All their equipment is new. But best of all, you get a training program tailored specifically to your needs. Whether you just need a little rehab or you are an elite athlete, APT can create a plan that fits you. I have been attending APT since Nov of 2020. Covid standards are enforced. Equipment is cleaned after each workout. Masks are worn.
As far as professionalism and competency, I have been incredibly satisfied and the result speaks for itself. Workouts are personalized and each workout is tailor made with individualized progression.
I came in with concerns as I have had two significant injuries which had compromised my body dramatically. Michelle has been amazing. I am stronger, more aware of my body and undoubtedly have benefited from her instruction. She is skilled, committed, directive and has a beautiful spirit. I am grateful for the healing and strength I have accomplished with her help. Lastly I often have had the opportunity to witness other trainers during my workouts (only 2 trainers and clients per session), all I have witnessed have shown great knowledge, respect and competency with their clients.

The waterski season in WNC is pretty short so if I come down with an injury, I miss precious time on the water.
