This is my second time coming to Asheville, North Carolina and my second time coming to this gym. Both times were a great experience. The staff was always friendly. The facility was always clean, and the equipment, while old, functions great. The atmosphere is also the kind you want as a serious lifter. I really have nothing negative to say about this gym, after my first time coming here I remember I was bragging to everyone about how awesome this gym was when I went back home. Highly recommend for the serious lifters. If you are used to PF or LA fitness don't leave a bad review, this just isn't your type of gym.

Weird equipment experience, dark, dingy and not clean. Thick layer of dust on window sills and left wall by the treadmills that you don't really want to be breathing in while your lungs are going deep. There are some bicycles by the entrance to the downstairs basement exercise room, and that doorway space emits wafts of moldy air so I can only imagine what it's like downstairs. Wall to wall carpet is a petri dish as it is and is just gross in a gym. I went with an open mind but it's too 'dude who lives in Mom's basement' for me. I won't be back.

Just moved to Asheville and walked in yesterday around noon to ask about signing up. Three people behind the counter and one older woman literally said to me "You picked the absolute worst time to come by!" She was on crutches and trying to get her lunch and I totally sympathize with her situation. However why no one else there could help me seemed odd. I will go back today and try again. Not the best welcome to Asheville.

Biltmore Fitness is a true gem of a gym. The facility has an old school feel and at the same time is clean with a myriad of equipment options to suit the needs of all. I'd highly recommend to anyone in the Asheville area. I live in Florida and will really miss this gym. 😢

The gym itself is amazing. Equipment is great and there is tons of space. However, no one has been showing up in the morning to open the gym at the time of opening. I got to the gym at 5AM this morning and no one was there to open it. I waited until 5:30, but had to leave in order to not be late for work. This has happened to me twice in the past month. Once on the weekend and once during the week. The afternoon/evening crowd has their owns problems. Tons of machine hoggers and high schoolers walking around in groups of 5-6 in the evening just wasting time.

Absolutely awesome gym. Came on a day pass as I’m only in town for the day for work. Front desk guy was super cool. Super reasonable price for a day pass at $12. Gym wasn’t crowded at all. The machines are all awesome. Coming from a super crowded gym this was a great change. I wish this was my home gym. There weren’t any kids running around, no teenagers being immature. The steel plates were humbling to say the least. But got an awesome workout and left happy. 10/10 I will be returning next time I’m in Asheville

The individuals involved in this matter have exhibited extremely poor customer service. During my attempt to initiate a membership, I encountered rudeness and unprofessionalism. Consequently, I have decided to cease all communication with them. Their behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

Biltmore Fitness is a solid gym with everything you need. It’s got a ton of equipment—machines, free weights, and plenty of space to actually use them. The vibe is more old school which is exactly what makes it great. No gimmicks, just a place to get in, get your work done, and not wait around for a bench. The staff is super friendly and makes the place feel welcoming without being over the top. If you're in Asheville and looking for a real gym, this is it.

This is one of those rare finds in a gym. I was in town for a few days for work and hotel gym wasn’t cutting it. I found this right down the road and when I called, they were welcoming and answered the phone right away.

Owners were fantastic! (Bridget is a BEAST) The gym has 3 floors everything you could ever want.

They have functional fitness areas, powerlifting, machine weights, and everything in between.

They have a mix of new vs old school equipment, it wasn’t crowded, and the patrons all put in their own work, were nice, and had boundaries. The culture at the gym was great.

Made me wish I lived here. This is how a gym should be. Owners said it had been open for more than 35 years. Here is to another 35 more.

Phenomenal old school lifting gym that also has a welcoming atmosphere for beginners. 3 stories of machines and free weights, very welcoming for a drop in lift while traveling. Be sure to check out the basement dungeon, bring your chalk and channel some Metzer and Ronnie energy.

Great gym. I read a review below about their "not being music playing" in the background which creates "awkward silence." I just want to say I really appreciate that there is no crappy background music playing in the background. The silence is golden. Its nice to have an opportunity to experience silence in between training with headphones to regroup mentally and not be bombarded with background noise. Also I have not noticed any bad smell? Its usually well-ventilated. I like that its got an old, no frills vibe. I want to be there to deal with myself and not be lulled into overly comfortable surroundings. Anyway, new member here, saw the bad review and offering my take. Also good pricing for nurses, which I really appreciate.

Went here 3 times for a workout while in town on vacation and I love this place. As other reviews note: has an old-school feel without being intimidating, has plenty of free weight and plates for their plethora barbells, and the 3 levels help to make it feel not very crowded despite multiple people working in the same area. Has a sauna which was great post-workout!

I know the owner will love this one since he seems to not be capable of handling criticism from other negative reviews I have read. I have worked out in many gyms in the area. This one has standard pricing, equipment is the oldest and most worn out of any gym in the area, It’s very grungy classic old school gym, needs remodel carpet looks like it’s been there since the gym was built it also has a funky smell inside (outside of the normal gym smell). What kills me the most tho is that it’s not a very friendly environment. So it’s not friendly, it’s out of date, and it smells. Not the worst gym but much better options in the area I wouldn’t choose it as my home gym and really wouldn’t consider visiting again. They also don’t have any music leading to an awkward silence if you don’t have headphones. Bathrooms were cleanish, has nice water fountains but still there are better options and cheaper options in the area very mediocre.

Great gym with more than enough equipment to get the job done. Plenty of squat racks, deadlift/weightlifting platform, fat benches, machines, and cardio equipment. I think the only thing they were missing were atlas stones or maybe a yoke, someone correct me if I'm wrong. It isn't entirely too dungeony/powerlifter-strongman esque (the grungier, the better for me) but casual enough for most fitness enthusiasts. 2 minutes away from Mission Hospital if you hurt yourself too!!! 🤣

I came into town for work. I came to this place after I was surprised to find that none of the other three chain gyms I have access to are here in town or near.

I went to this place to find out what price they would charge me for two weeks of access using the gym about a total of 8-10 times. They wanted $45 for it and they have the bare minimum a gym offers and hours that are basic. This place has no pool, no sauna, no massage offering or light therapy, all of my other memberships do have these things available and I pay $29 a month for each of those.

CRAZY!!

$10 a week, maybe. I mean that’s still $50 for the month and it doesn’t even look worth that.

Biltmore Fitness is an awesome gym. It has three floors with a wide variety of equipment, especially for strength training, all clean and well maintained. I found everything I needed for my normal workouts and tried out some equipment that was new to me. Even when the gym was at its busiest, there were plenty of good options to choose from.

The staff members are friendly. Checking in at arrival, even as a visitor, only takes a moment. The other patrons are respectful of the gym and each other.

I bought a one-week pass, which I used daily during a five-day visit to Asheville. For a gym of this caliber, the pass was a great value. My family loves Asheville and tries to visit once or twice a year. I’m thrilled to have found Biltmore Fitness and plan to return on future trips.

Great gym! I've been traveling around the country for awhile and this is one of the best I've been to and it's reasonably priced.

I only needed two weeks but I walked in fully expecting to pay for a month which would be fine because that's standard. BUT they informed they offer a two week membership which I've never come across before.

So I signed up right there, and unlike the previous review I knew the two weeks started that day so I had a great work out and used the membership for the next 2 consecutive weeks.

They have a lot of free weights and machines so even when it is busy it doesn't feel it. And the staff is extremely nice and approachable l.

If I come back to Asheville I will 100% use this gym again!

Rude and disrespectful. One star only because zero isn’t an option. I purchased a $35 week pass from the short, dark haired lady. She said I wrote your info on this card and it’ll be in the box so when you come in, let them know you have a pass. I said thanks and walked out the door. I ended up going out of town for 2 months and the day after I returned, I went to use my pass at Biltmore Fitness. I was told that pass expired the week you bought it and I won’t honor it or refund your money. This was the same lady that sold it to me. She told me to talk to the owner, Danny. I called Danny and without hearing to what I had to say about the situation, promptly said he would not honor my pass or refund my money because in 15 year’s no one had ever bought a pass and didn’t start using it the day it was purchased, which is exactly what dark hair lady said when I tried talking with her. She was rude and had attitude when I returned to use my pass. Danny had the gall to call me a scam artist…. What?! I wasn’t told I had to start using it that day let alone that it had an expiration date! I told him I purchased it to consider his facility for membership and he told me to take my business else where! YOU’RE THE ONE WHO TOOK MY MONEY FOR NO SERVICE RENDERED!
There’s a first time for everything and Danny and his staff are willing to treat a possible patron this way over a $35 week pass??? I will gladly take my business else where.
On another note, the tour was horrible and lazy. We stood in one spot where things were pointed out in a 360 degree view. I was shown some doors and told there were things down there for circuit exercises. There are no group classes, though they are stated on the website. It looks and feels run down and the initial greetings didn’t make one feel welcome. I only purchased the pass after that initial interaction because it’s close to home.

Great gym!!! I was in NC for a few days, about 30 minutes from Biltmore Fitness. After looking at gyms online, they seemed perfect for my strength training needs.

I sent them a message on FB about day passes and they quickly responded. I stopped in the next morning around 6am and the woman working was super nice. The gym has a large amount of freeweights, Hammer Strength, old school bodybuilding equipment, and nautilus style machines. They also have plenty of cardio machines if that's your thing. Pass! Lol. I had no problem finding the weights, or equipment, I needed for my planned training session.

I went back the next day. A Saturday, around 1, and the parking lot was pretty full. The young man working the front desk was also very nice. You wouldn't know the parking lot was full with how spread out the people were. I had squats/deads scheduled, and walked right up to an open squat rack.

The members are cool, and there was a nice flow. Good gym etiquette all around. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll definitely go back. And, if I lived down here, I'd 100% be a member!

I was in here for a single visit due to traveling, a $12 single visit hit the no. 1 on the cost chart so far, the highest I’ve paid, close to Gold’s OKC cost, but looked more like I was using Muscle Beach’s equipment in Venice, CA. It’s more of a raw gritty gym, stretching mats looked like pre-Covid era, members looked focus but tired, needs a good cleaning and sanitation.

Just got a 1 week pass while I am visiting from out of town. I will absolutely stop by if I’m in AVL for a few days and want to train!

A million reviews say “this is an old school gym”. And here’s another one, because it doesn’t hit you until you walk in and realize this is an epic display of, and an enduring example of the body building mindset of old. You can’t help but walk in here and be inspired by the history and the legacy.

There’s tons of equipment, and lots of space across three floors. I’m the early mornings it’s not too busy and everything is laid out nicely in a way that makes sense. I’m stoked about my next couple of days working out here.

Solid old school gym in Biltmore village. Some of the equipment is a little worn but everything is clean. 3 floors with a functional training/crossfit area and a powerlifting room in the basement. Top floor is more bodybuilding machines and the main dumbbell rack (up to 120s) plus squat racks leg press and hack squat, middle is cardio, circuit training and a few more machines. Powerlifting area has a ghr table, a back hyper table a monolift, chains, and comp benches, including one with a Fat Pad, and the functional area has a oly platform and bumpers. Gym culture is good, the owner seemed friendly and I haven't seen anyone leave their dumbbells or weights lying around. The locker room does have a shower.

4/5 because I'm comparing it to the VERY nice Gold's I left in Richmond (freaking stacks of Ivanko plates), the Gold's here get a 3 in comparison. No turf area or hard walls for throws, some areas lack organization or have grown crazy over the years. The first floor especially seems like the circuit area is totally wasted space. The 3rd floor db area has some soft spots that made me worry about how hard I'm putting down my dumbbells.

Whether masks are necessary or not, just follow the rules and keep it on so you don't get the place shut down on the rest of us. I'm going back to daily visits.

Great gym. Owners are great and don’t charge ridiculous fees and surcharges, they also have a full downstairs dedicated to powerlifting, CrossFit, and boxing. Very cool, old school weights, and clean. New favorite in the Asheville area

Just signed up for a month pass, absolutely love it! Staff are very friendly and welcoming. There’s plenty of equipment to choose from, no waiting for a bench here and every single member I saw wiped down equipment after use. I love the old-school atmosphere and I feel like I’m at home! No sign-up fees, no gimmicks, nobody trying to sell me a personal training package; this is why I’ll always choose a family owned business over a corporate gym. I found my gym home and they’ll continue to have my business for as long as I’m here in Asheville.

They dont keep equipment maintained. Some of the cardio equipment definitely needs replaced. The older lady that works desk is sometimes rude, I believe she may be the owner. Just another money hungry gym wanting to get every dollar they can out of you. This is surprising since this is family owned. Other than these cons, it does have the old school environment if you like that.

This is the place. You want to workout. Go here. You want to get in & out. You want to be social. You want local guides by Zack & Jake. You want Entertainment by Bridget. You want a second home. Go Here. I have traveled so much. I live in Ohio & if feasible, i would drive every day to go here. This is a second home in my heart. AND my minion agrees. She loves it there.

Great gym for out-of-town visitors. A day pass costs only $5 if you are staying at a hotel/AirBNB. They have a huge variety of equipment, with some machines I've never even seen before, and everything looks clean and well-maintained.

Zack was at the front desk, he was very professional and nice. He answered my questions and took some flyers for a an event.
He agreed to put them up as well as spread the word about the event. The gym is very clean , with many options for different approaches of fitness. Great owners great facility highly recommend!

This place is one of my favorite gyms as I tavel. There is plenty of gear as well as multiple stations for whatever you need to do. The staff is friendly and helpful.
I made the mistake of jumping right into my workout. I would take the time to find the multi functional area as well as the powerlifting section prior to my routine. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Stopped in while on vacation from central Il. Based off a recommendation, probably the best gym setup I've been in. Met some people, basement setup was an A+, and the owner was an awesome guy. Thanks for the tshirt, when we come back to Asheville this is where we lift/train every day we're here. Multiples of all your major equipment, could not see a scenario where your waiting to get a lift in.

Been going for a couple of years. All the equipment you need, never too crowded, sauna, and the new downstairs is cool! The members and staff are nice and unobtrusive. Probably more of a place for weight lifting than other stuff, but there are classes too. Just not my thing personally. A lot of people just working hard, minding their business, and being considerate of others in there. Rarely end up waiting on a squat rack which was a huge issue at my last gym. A+.
