Stay far away from this team. Their business practices and money handling practices are illegal and unprofessional. And good luck getting someone to contact you back to be professional and resolve the situation because they’re too busy trying to doctor documentation to justify their THEFT of ridiculous fees and justify their ridiculous and unreasonable Terms and Conditions. Find another team for your athlete.

A Dad's review:
If my daughter was doing this review, she’d likely give it 5*
I'd give it 3*, so we'll compromise with a 4*

I’ll start with THE GOOD:
The coaches and staff at CA-Charlotte are all very professional and dedicated to maximizing the talent on their teams and creating the best possible routines to win competitions. They care about the athletes and work to create lasting bonds of friendship. The athletes are deeply committed, and I commend all of them for their effort and dedication.

Now… The NOT-SO-GOOD: Mainly, the cost.
Know what you’re getting into before committing. Because once you do, you’re locked in for the full year (June-May) and assuming your daughter/son love it, you'll be locked in until they graduate high school.

Be advised, the all-in total cost of participating in CA for a calendar year is roughly $12,000+, if not more. This includes monthly tuition billed year round ($349-$379), practice wear, uniforms, travel to competitions: flights, rental cars, hotels, gas, ubers, food, competition fees, parking, admission, team gifts, etc.

Expect to miss roughly 8+ days of work & school for travel days to and from weekend competitions, as depending what team your child is on, you’ll be going to places such as Orlando, Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, Indianapolis, Myrtle Beach & Washington DC, in addition to local events in Charlotte, Concord & Greensboro.

My bigger issue is with the competitive cheer governing body – USA cheer / Varsity.

At most competitions, you’re required to stay in pre-approved hotels (stay & play), many times which cost more with the group rate than if you booked it yourself separately. If you stay at a non-approved hotel, they threaten team disqualification.
To me, this is unethical.
Parents who then choose to stay at a non approved hotel, then have to ask other team parents to add their child's name to their room list to avoid any potential issues.

Times for competitions aren’t released until roughly 72-hours before the competition, which means making travel arrangements to and from various cities is extremely difficult. CA recommends traveling on the days before and after a competition, which is understandable and, in most cases, means Friday-Monday travel. But your team could be competing at 8am or 6pm on a Sunday. Either way, you’ll be missing work and school Monday because your travel plans were made ahead of time. Or, if you have an early compete time Sunday and choose to head home, you'll just eat the cost of the Sunday night hotel.

Want to see your child perform their 2-3 minute routine with their team? At some competitions, that could cost roughly $37.50 - per person, per day! Unbelievable.

At the Disney competitions (Summit & Worlds), you’ll likely need to travel Wednesday-Monday. So plan on missing at least four days of work/school. You’re also forced to buy your child a two/three-day Disney park hopper ticket. That’s “included” in the price. But you’ll be lucky to get even one day at a Disney park. You'll eat the cost of the unused days on the ticket. The parent has to buy a separate ticket.

Closing thoughts:
Our daughter spent five years at CA-CLT. She loved her time there and was passionate about it. She loved her teams & coaches. But... she wasn’t the one paying the bills. If you can willingly afford to spend $12,000+ annually, fantastic. I personally would have rather put all that money into her college fund. Those payments begin next month. Yay!

The focus is on winning here and coaching lacks positivity and healthy correction of flawed routines. Expectations of certain athletes are unrealistic and response to athlete mental health struggle is limited. It’s a business more than a healthy sports program for talented athletes.

Cheer Athletics Charlotte is one of the best cheerleading programs in North Carolina. The coaches are all specifically trained in stunting and tumbling, and they specialize in the levels and age divisions they coach. They have multiple National titles including NCA, Summit, and World championship titles. The best part about this gym is that the staff makes an effort to get to know each family at the gym. It is a great environment and program to be in. I highly recommend giving this cheerleading gym a try!

This location is great and much roomier than the previous site. They have added plenty of storage space for athlete items and it is a big improvement. This place is a hidden gem in Charlotte but not for long. It is close to everything and everyplace I might need to go while my girls practice. I look forward to the years to come.

I have 3 all star athletes and they love their CA family and coaches. Because they represent different teams and skill levels, much of what we do outside of the gym includes someone from our extended gym family.
