This gym has always promoted itself as family-friendly, and up until now I’ve never had any issues bringing my daughter with me. She was secured in a baby carrier strapped to me the entire time, and we were using equipment less than a foot away from the fire alarm.

She accidentally grabbed the alarm handle while I was mid-set, which triggered an evacuation. While I fully understand the seriousness of fire alarms and that accidents can happen, what bothered me was the way the situation was handled afterward.

The manager told me that I “let her do it,” and that if anything like this happens again, the fire department fines will be transferred to me personally. Repeating that I “allowed” a 10-month-old to intentionally cause a disruption was inappropriate and unnecessarily accusatory.

I canceled my membership—not because of the incident, but because of how the situation was escalated and the lack of empathy, professionalism, or practical solutions offered.

If you’re a parent, keep in mind: while the gym says you can bring your baby with you, they clearly don’t have the structure, policies, or support in place to realistically accommodate parents with infants. Instead of acknowledging that accidents can occur, the default response was blame and liability.

Families deserve spaces that actually support them—not ones that claim to be accommodating until something happens.

Just started using this club and we are Loving this place, it has something for everyone in my family, you can definitely put in the work or just have some fun.
Everyone I've met here is very friendly and welcoming.
If you're looking for something more and a little less corporate business then i recommend courts plus.
Definitely gives off a sense of community here.

I feel like I should also throw out that if you read a lot of the lower then 5 star reviews they're either really old, kinda dumb, or have nothing to do with the business itself.

pool closed over just a rainy day they claim lightning even if there isnt any.. it seems im out of the pool more than in it.. it seems to be closed over a cloudy day and then if the pools not closed , between terrible hrs (closed at 5 on fridays? and 7 on weekends?) come on now.. and on top of every random holiday being closed i find myself working out on their schedule rather than my own. will not renew next year.. weekend hours are terrible.. if u want a gym where you have to work out on the managemnets schedule and not youre own then plz sign up. also they clean the hottub out into the pool... thats like throwing used laundry water back in the washer

It had been awhile to use the faculties here at courts plus. So bought my son and his friend to use the faculties on July 26. 2025 at 4:15 pm. When we got there found the indoor pool closed. Ok no problem. HERE IS THE PROBLEM. So my sons friend was told that the cost was 15.00 my son's friend politely said oh I thought it was 10. The young man with blonde curly hair then got cocky and said oh that changed back in 2023. I covered for my son's friend who didn't deserve that young man's cocky attitude. I went to there website and no where does it even say anything about that. I could understand if we missed it or got rude but we didn't. That young needs to either be sent back to customer service training or let go

I've been a member for years and generally have enjoyed the low key vibes here. However, of the last few visits this month, I've been extremely irritated to find one or more ladies in the locker room face timing. Incredibly rude, ruins the good mood my work out just gave me, and honestly if it continues with this frequency I think I'll see if another gym doesn't make a better effort to discourage it.

I am so impressed by this gym! So much included in this membership: classes, sauna- access to an indoor and outdoor pool… a hot tub?! I highly utilize the cardio room, no room seems crowded. I met one of the owners, they gave me a tour, offered to help with the equipment. Adding additional family members to your membership is super affordable. I highly recommend!

I love Courts Plus because of the consistent offering of group fitness classes. Due to the nature of my job, it can be hard to maintain a consistent work out schedule. I can be absent for weeks/months at a time but every time I make it back, my favorite group classes are still available and just as fun. The instructors are truly passionate in what they do. I never knew this place existed until this weekend, when invited to a kids birthday party. I will start off with saying that the facilities are absolutely nothing to write home about. With that in mind, you would think that they would pride themselves on customer service to make up for the shabby pool and workout area.

I was saddened for the birthday girl at the party. Due to a minor altercation at the beginning of the week between her father and the [not so sure it was the manager?], the party was almost cancelled but overruled by whomever is actually in charge. The office manager on staff then told the father he could not attend his daughter's party and went as far as to bring two police officers into the party area to confirm that. That's an embarrassment to not only the children and parents, who had respected the workers wishes, but an embarrassment to the establishment itself for calling public officials to waste their time. All of this over the dad using minor profanity.

All in all, I hope they rectify this issue with the worker, Jacob, and until that happens I would not recommend hosting overpriced birthday parties here.

Was barred from my 6 year old daughter's birthday party after a dispute with manager-on-duty Jacob. He called the police even though I was not there and embarrassed my wife in front of all the guests. Even threatened to cancel the party but was overruled by upper management. This place is pretty much a landmark in this town at this point. As far as what they have to offer, the smaller (24 hour ) gyms certainly can’t compete , especially in the spring and summer when the outdoor pool is open. Although everything in this place is its original design (and this place has probably been around since 🤔 the 80s)and no updates have been made to anything , it’s hard to compete with racket ball , dodgeball, pickle ball,volleyball,basketball, foosball, tons of classes , indoor pool and jacuzzi, saunas in their respective locker rooms , child care facilities, smoothie bar , friendly staff . Surely yall felt a “but” coming on and by golly it’s big but too ! BUT…I really regret not checking this out before signing on to a year long contract, I suppose I never thought it would be an issue… this gym’s HOURS of operation feel like they’re designed more so for the employees than the members . It BAFFLES me every time I think about it or try to come , or am here that an establishment created for recreation and fitness keeps bank hours . It burns my arse everytime we get off work and can’t go to the gym and enjoy a swim and /or workout . Work on the weekends like me ? Well then you’re really screwed . I canceled my membership with Onslow Spa and they have kinda frustrating hours too , but the difference is , they’re just “staffed hours “ so you can still work out , just not swim , which stinks but I can manage . I guess it just makes me upset that when folks ACTUALLY have the time to work out (after work, on the weekends) they CANT because the place closes at 5,6,7 pm. Sure sure who does aspire to be someone who gets in a good sweat at 4 am before work /school ,
But I’ve never been that person and probably never will be. But you’re an early riser and early to bed , unemployed,or retired = you’re golden and just the clientele that probably loves this place. I’m sure it’s most likely a staffing thing and I get that, but damn , this place has so much potential to be the greatest fitness center in Onslow county , truly . The owner just needs to hit the lottery I guess and have the funding to make it happen. So yeah, if you’re used to having the option to workout any time you want, or work evenings and weekends, this place is NOT the place for you. Aside from that, I’ve always loved Courts Plus . My poor family that works a lot just doesn’t get use the membership as much as they planned on because they too didn’t foreshadow these hours . *shrugs * that’s on us though.

EDIT: Even when Spring and Summer rolled around and outdoor pool available as a nice option for outdoor activities for families, still no change in hours . No temporary seasonal hours to coincide with the days lasting longer until after 8 pm.
Just ridiculously rigid hours . And worse
, rather than wait until 9pm and officially closing to begin whatever closing duties they have . They instead opt for coming into the weight room 15/20 till , where people are just trying to work out , and stare you down making you feel like you’re the biggest jerk for being there . So I Ended up just having to pay for second gym membership . One that is thankfully open 24 hours—just to be able to work out again. Because I Gained back ALL the weight I had lost in 2022/2023 when I belonged to Onslow Fitness Spa while being a member here .

My husband and I enjoy exercising there. We love the water aerobics classes and try to swim at least three to four times a week in either the indoor or outdoor pools. The staff is amazing and the environment is friendly. It’s a non judgment facility so no pressure to keep up with anyone else during your workout. Everyone exercises at their own pace.

They got everything! Just moved here from up North and the manager, Quin, who met with us was so friendly and informed. He gave us a tour of the facility (it's huge!) I love the Zumba class, and the access to both indoor and outdoor pools my only complaint is that the indoor pool walls in the room are very rusty, and the edges of the pool sometimes are a little bit mildewy. There is a saltiness to the pool so I think they use salt water in the indoor pool.

Gym is great. It's got good equipment and activities. However when signing on you're locked in a contract and to cancel you must pay out the entirety of it plus a $50 cancel fee. Unfortunately my rep left the contract payout detail out and said if we wished to cancel its a $50 fee.

I didn’t know by walking into the doors the first day that I’d be walking into a family of sorts. The only other experience I’ve had with a gym was a bad one. Courts Plus from day one has gone above and beyond all my expectations. Half the time I don’t even go to workout, I go to see my friends who’ve become family and we just so happen to burn calories in the process. So grateful I found you! Hands down Best Gym in JVille.

Amazing indoor heated pool. Great for doing laps. Its never really crowded. The maintenance is top notch. There's also a smaller outside pool for sunmer months while children are out of school. I absolutely love the jacuzzi when its not temporarily closed for repairs. Two of the reasons I like this gym and will pay more for a membership is for the pool and hot tub. They offer individual memberships, couples and family annual packages. Theres a billing department to reach for any service questions for automatic draft monthly payments or cancellations. Visitors are allowed for less than 10. Theres also a tanning bed option to pay per visits. They are a bit pricier, but well worth it if you're going to utilize all they have to offer. The hours are accommodating. Theres water fountains and a juice bar. They sell some nerchandise such as t- shirts, duffel bags, water bottles, power bars.There's always someone there to ask for help with a question. Weight room, basketball courts, raquet ball courts and equipment, lifecycle bikes, treadmills. They offer a daycare center. They have monthly calenders of the classes and instructors. They offer palates, step aerobics, aerobics, yoga, zumba, water exercise classes. All for beginners or advanced. Locker rooms( bring a lock), showers, restrooms, they have towels if you ask, Very clean, respectful. If the stairs in the front are too much to walk up they have another entrance and exit from first floor.

I like the gym, but their way of managing $ is suspect. My reservation for a pool party was canceled due to weather and they won’t just simply refund the card. They called my brother before calling me (the member who paid). I’ve told them that I can’t call during week day business hours. I came in-person on the weekend and only the manager can ok a refund. I told the person about my weekday availability and he said he’d check about authorizing the refund. He didn’t, and I was once again called during the week. Why they won’t just simply refund the card I used or give me a membership credit I’m not sure. But it’s frustrating that it’s been a month and I still don’t have a refund.

2/22/2023: Officially cancelled my membership after about 3 years. In that time, I have not seen any significant improvements in any substantial capacity. However, the tipping occurred on 2/20/2023 when Tim and Kevin both felt it necessary, and appropriate, to pull me aside and threaten to "terminate" my membership for expressing my first hand experiences and opinions on a public forum and took it upon themselves to attempt to coerce me to unofficially and informally "cease and desist." Their threats were followed up with statements that "scaring away" customers won't allow them to collect revenue. Money may make the facility pretty, but holding their patrons accountable is free and it's concerning that they're so willing to resort to hostile statements and actions against long time customers expressing their firsthand experiences to the public. This kind of malicious behavior is something I cannot abide by and would not expect anyone who is paying for a service to accept.

February 2023: don't bother wasting money coming here unless you'd like to leave in a worst state than you came in for a place that gets treated like a frat house lounge. From people loitering on the equipment, mistreating the equipment, unsanitary practices such as placing unwashed body parts on surfaces and clipping toenails straight onto the floor. It's a miracle nobody has gotten infections from this place.

January 2023: This facility is best described as a YMCA for the elderly and disabled that charges exponentially higher prices. Most affordable option in town, but the patrons have zero gym etiquette and do very little to maintain the already dismal state of the facility and will make your workouts feel more like an uncomfortable chore rather than a satisfying part of your day.

The pool is the only real benefit of this gym. Any equipment that isn't directly related to the pool, racquetball courts, or group fitness activities is extremely dated and warped to the point of being a safety hazard (i.e. bent barbells and dumbbells, rust ridden equipment, torn benches festering with bacteria from patrons who don't wipe after themselves, etc.). The cardio equipment appears to be functioning but only 2-3 treadmills don't skip and make you feel like you're tripping with each step and the bikes are the only pieces of equipment that regularly work (most likely due to being low maintenance and fairly unused). The patrons can be questionable, I had some of my clothes stolen the very first day I came here and I only stay for the variety of amenities and reasonable price.

Addendum: Patrons should be wary that many of the people in the weight room tend to linger more than they exercise, and show little to no respect for your space or the facility equipment. Be prepared for people to not put equipment away, not wipe anything down, touch and move your stuff if you walk away to get a wipe or some water, and simply pile all of the equipment in random areas of the gym.

Addendum: for future male patrons, the locker room is best avoided if at all possible. Individuals tend to linger naked or barely dressed and treat it more like a lounge than a place to simply get clean and change. There's limited space to begin with and the showers and saunas tend to be occupied for very long periods that will affect your day. The showers and stalls are also rather unsanitary despite the staffs best efforts; patrons make little effort to avoid soiling the only 3 toilets in the locker room.

I have felt very welcome here. Everyone here goes out of their way to help you, emotionally support you , there’s no judgment in this facility . Long story short, great gym, friendly people, greedy corporate, like everyone else who wants money, they are not your friend, go in knowing everything before you make a choice to pay them or not.

I was a member of this gym for about 7 months when I moved to NE, I could not cancel my membership at the time due to me not having orders elsewhere or having been a member for a year. Then after a year I paid with my other bank account to finish the payments and cancel the membership, then they started taking money out of that account instead. I asked them why and they told me that they needed a written statement saying that I canceled. When asked why this is the employee who had been there for only 7 months responded with “that’s the way it always has been”. These people are sneaky and are only out for your money, if you go to this gym, KEEP ALL OF YOUR DOCUMENTS otherwise they’ll tell you about things that they did not tell you when you signed up. Have ALL OF IT in front of you before you make a decision.

I have been a member at Courts Plus for years. What keeps me here is the Sauna and the pool. The facilities could be updated. Equipment that is worn should be auctioned or sold to members and the money used to buy new equipment. There are stains on the floor from where there were rugs that have not been replaced. The price is reasonable. Money that members pay in (a portion)should be set aside to reinvest to make Courts Plus the contender it use to be.

Literally this gym is a hidden gym. The only downfall is no childcare..YET they are updating it.

The gym equipment is older but it gives more of an Arnold Schwarzenegger vibes which I love! The pool inside is heated and they have a hot tub and dry sauna. They also offer swimming classes to people who are not part of the gym. But honestly I have no complaints because this gym has everything and Jacksonville does not have much to offer.

Let me start by saying the staff members are amazing. Absolutely love the front desk lady who always remembered our names and had such an upbeat personality.

However, I joined the gym solely for the fact they had a childcare center, pool, and tanning bed all in one establishment. Not months after joining the tanning bed was closed and now the childcare is closing…Highly disappointed. If it was a budget factor I would have gladly accepted up-charges for the service, but now it’s just a basic gym with no childcare. Moms can’t utilize it. Very disappointed.

Good gym. Only go there because Tammy husband uses their basketball court but it tends to not have that many people either way. Downside; they don’t really communicate changes with you unless you go in person. More of a court than a gym. There was no ventilation or fans in the cardio room. The weight room was in a separate part of the building. All closed rooms without windows. The room were classes were held was nicer, but limited in what it offered. The courts all looked really nice and the main focus of the gym. Very friendly childcare and staff.

Been going to this location for a few years. The staff here is amazing, friendly and always a big help. I love how I can order protein smoothies after my workouts plus they offer Zumba, Yoga & Tennis. Its so much to do for my family, we can do it all here. They even have a indoor Jacuzzi & Pool. Called two weeks ago and was told that a manager would call me back about the membership I was inquiring about. At this point I still haven’t received a phone call nor do I need one as I’ve found a gym that has what I was looking for and they were extremely professional and engaging from the first call I made to them. I’m not sure what kind of service one would receive had I joined this gym.

The gym equipment is old or doesn’t work. The pool area needs a deep cleaning the floors are nasty. The women’s locker room bathroom wasn’t available the last two times we went. My kids were excited about dodgeball but they never had anyone to host it. Just not what I was expecting for the price.

Home-y feeling gym. The staff is awesome and probably knows everyone by name.

It's the only gym in town outside of base that has a full size pool.

They have plenty of classes and a childcare room.

Very reasonable rates and all the equipment you need.

Try canceling your membership is like pulling out your teeth yourself. The management is not helpful over the phone when you are out of state or country when trying to cancel it. You have to be there is person. It's not that hard to cancel a membership COURTS PLUS.

Granddaughter needs an in door pool to do laps/workout in. This was the only one in Jacksonville NC others were to small.
To my appreciation it was well manages and clean.
Happy to see that they are still improving and adding on. All of their team members were wearing mask and the facility was Covid compliant. Ample stations with hand santizer.

I went last week and spoke to someone about the water exercise class and got a 7 day pass. Went for the first time this morning and it was great! I do believe I'll be getting a membership.

My familie and I have been meubels there for quit some time I attend water aerobics there 3 times a week. They have a basket ball court, 2 swimming Pools one outside and one inside. Racket ball courts, day care however I would call first to make sure that what you woud like is still open do to the covid 19 they may have had to make some changes.

The gym is nice and they have great workout classes. I only come when Cherly is teaching on weekends. She dose spin at 0830 and I love it it. She’s always motivated and love to throw toboggan and hitt workouts in the middle of the spin class. At 0935 she does body pump also referred to as know as strength training. This class will have you leaving hurting in a good way.

This is a great place with a friendly staff. Two pools make it better one indoor and the other outdoor. Courts Plus offers various training classes that accommodates the members. Now to the bad, this facility is in dire need of renovation, upgrade, and technological overhaul.

The facility is nice and has plenty to do but when I pay for the membership to allow me to come in at 4:30 am I expect the gym to be open but right now I am sitting outside the gym still waiting for it to open and this isn’t the first time but more like the 6th time it’s happen, still no employees here to open the gym. Once again I have wasted my time, gas, supplements and money because why should I be paying for the membership to allow me to be here this early but not be able to workout?

Great health club overall. I usually go when they open at 4:30 a.m. and it's awesome. The weight room is empty so I can get a great workout in without it being crowded. It's probably the best "club" experience in the county.

The best gym in town by far. It's never crowded and it has a lot of different things to do, like ping pong (the only reason my wife even goes there), tennis, a hot tub, and two pools.

It's a little more expensive than Planet Fitness, but how much is your fitness worth to you? You'll enjoy Courts Plus a lot more. You''ll get more of a workout in. You'll be able to swim when you go. No waiting in line to use the machines.. Just pay the extra $20 a month.

I'm desapointed the way they handled their business. Very poor customer service. Can't billing anything right. Can't send letters in mail when you own money or calling you. Then they finally warned when 10 months past due. I complained to a manager, the escuse was there's too many costumers we can't handle everybody. Their bookeeping can't do their job right.

I really enjoy coming here. The staff is wonderful, the childcare is great, there are so many different classes to choose from and they are so much fun! The facility is big and there is a lot to do. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star rating is because the building is older and could really use some repairs/updates, but that doesn't keep me from continuing to be a member. I love this place!
