I cannot sing the praises of CrossFit Mountain Island loud enough! I absolutely adore the owners, Coty & Noelle, they’re like family now. They are passionate, knowledgeable, and are there to support you always. Coaches Lindsay and Megan are awesome too!! I’ve gained muscle, lost fat, increased my endurance. I love the workouts, I definitely never get bored like I used to at a regular gym. I always look forward to going! Its a community of folks that support you every step of the way like nothing I’ve experienced before! Thank you Crossfit Mtn Island!!❤️

I’ve been working out at this CrossFit gym for a while now, and I can’t say enough good things about it. Coty is an incredible coach—motivating, knowledgeable, and great at tailoring workouts to every skill level. He really takes the time to make sure your form and programming are on point. Noelle is fantastic with nutrition coaching—she makes the process simple, sustainable, and personalized. Between the workouts and nutrition support, I’ve seen major improvements in both performance and overall health. The community here is welcoming, supportive, and pushes you to be your best every day. Highly recommend to anyone looking to level up their fitness!

If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. I stumbled across this gym when I was looking for a HIIT gym or other class-based gym nearby. This gym was the closest option for me, but I had never done CrossFit before, so I was a bit hesitant. I saw great reviews and figured I would give it try anyways, and I found such an incredible atmosphere. There are people across many ages, with different fitness goals, all working towards the same thing. Everyone is extremely kind, encouraging, and supportive of each other. In the one month I’ve been there, I’ve quickly felt at home. The coaches are all extremely educated on form and they do an awesome job of ensuring safety by focusing on getting the form down before introducing too much weight. I’ve been given modifications for an injury I’m recovering from and the trainers often check in to ask how it’s feeling.

I feel like I found a gem of a gym.

I joined CFMI about 4 mo ago and it's one of the best decisions I've made. After several months of thinking about it and reading reviews (especially here on Google), I finally decided to join CrossFit Mountain Island, and honestly, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

I hesitated for a long time, mainly because of all the stories you hear about people getting injured doing CrossFit. But now that I’ve experienced it firsthand, I can say that hasn’t been my experience at all. At least not at this gym. The coaches are always paying attention to your form and performance during every workout. They correct you, guide you, and adjust your routine if needed so that you can train safely and progressively.

What I love most is the atmosphere. There are people of all ages, and they all seem to share a common goal: to feel better. The energy in the classes is something else—it truly feels like a community, almost like a family.

Now I understand why Coty, the owner, had me go through a 90-minute interview before I even joined. He wanted to know my short- and long-term goals, and in hindsight, I realize that letting me into his gym was like welcoming me into his family.

It’s been almost 3 months, and I’m already seeing changes in my body, energy levels, and overall mindset. I have absolutely no regrets—this place has exceeded my expectations.

Always grateful to have become a member of this CrossFit community. I became a member back in June and have felt great since then. It’s challenging, but there are a handful of awesome coaches who are there to help you along your fitness journey. I’ve been exercising continuously for years, from my military career to regular bodybuilding, and have hit several plateaus. CrossFit is helping me overcome them. Along with that, the community was very welcoming and friendly. The only I regret I have is not joining sooner.

With that being said, I highly recommend joining this gym, regardless of your level of fitness experience. Because the magic you are looking for, may be hidden in the work you are avoiding.

I was one who was shy and intimidated by what CrossFit workouts entailed. I never thought I’d see myself doing the workouts I do now! Since joining, I’ve felt stronger and overall healthier. The gym is owned by Coty and Noelle, who evidently have a passion for what they do and the people they coach. The coaches are also the best! It’s truly hard to pick a favorite.

I would recommend this gym to someone either very experienced or completely inexperienced. With time, commitment, and some grace (with yourself. It won’t be perfect right away), you can do what you once thought you couldn’t. And you’ll feel stronger and better for it!

I have been a proud member of CrossFit Mountain Island for a year and a half now, and I can confidently say that this gym has truly transformed my life. The community, the workouts, and the coaches have all played a significant role in my fitness journey.

Coty, Noelle, Megan, Lindsay, and Alejandro are all fantastic coaches who bring their unique expertise and energy to every class. They create a supportive and motivating environment that encourages me to give my all during each workout.

CrossFit Mountain Island has been exactly what I needed to get back into fitness, and actually enjoy it. I was a little intimidated at first, but this gym has such a welcoming and supportive community that I never felt out of place.

But at CrossFit MI the coaches actually take the time and train you and correct your form so you dont get hurt.. Hands down, this is the best CrossFit location I’ve been to!! Overall pretty good experience! The owners and coaches are friendly and personable, and I always had a great workout each class.
Unfortunately, I will not be returning - I left feeling taken advantage of, and removed 2 stars from my review for the following reason:

**Be aware that even if you register/pay for only 1 month, you have to complete a specific online cancellation form 4 weeks prior to cancelling, or else you are consenting to be billed for another month- which means if you just want to try it out for a month (like I did), you need to complete the online cancellation form the same day that you register/pay for 1 month!!**

I signed up and paid for 1 month and was under the impression that I would not be billed for additional months nor under any ongoing contract. However, after I approached the end of my 1 month and thanked one of the owners for the experience, I was told I hadn't completed the online cancellation form 4 weeks prior, and therefore would be billed for a 2nd month.
I was then texted a link to the online cancellation form, along with a photo of a contract I signed agreeing to the 4 week cancellation policy, so I know that they were legally in-bounds to charge me for a 2nd month next week… and then they charged my credit card. Though, I did respond that I wasn't aware I had to complete this online cancellation form and that this was a major inconvenience for me.

I obviously/unfortunately didn't read the forms on the laptop in their office closely enough before signing when I initially met with them to sign up/pay for 1 month (major lesson learned for me).

My plan was to try some other gyms, and maybe come back after a couple months depending on what best fits me, but, after the way this major miscommunication was handled, I won't be returning.

In conclusion: Definitely worth trying this gym out- Thad an overall more positive than negative experience. However, I recommend asking for a copy of their forms to review closely (or just take your time reading them) before signing.

I have been wanting to get back in shape for about 5 years now after multiple shoulder surgeries due to overdoing it in sports when younger. I decided to join CrossFit Mountain Island and have no regrets!!

The coaches and members are SO welcoming and they take extra care to make sure I don’t get injured, which is awesome.

I’ve had gym memberships, martial arts training, and have gone through other programs before. I was pretty much over gyms. Or so I thought. I was talked into giving CrossFit Mountain Island a try. I admittedly was skeptical of the CrossFit community and some of the exercises. However, that skepticism went away upon my first class. The level of coaching, direction, and encouragement are amazing. The coaches really know their craft and work with you where you are to help you succeed on your fitness journey. The community is embracing and supportive and I look forward to each class session. I can’t say enough about how this gym has helped change my view on working out and CrossFit. I highly recommend CrossFit Mountain Island. I joined this gym three years ago. As I started exercising again, I curiously wondered why other members chose CrossFit, and also “Why do they stay?” I found each member has their own story and journey. My journey was focused on getting my health back and getting relief from the stresses of work. As a result of joining this gym, I can share that I have completely reversed my medical markers and found my reprieve from the stresses of life. Now to the answer to the question of “ Why people stay at this gym?” It comes down to Culture, Coaches, and Community. This gym uses the level method, which evaluates where you are from a fitness level but also helps you visualize where you are going. This system helps the coaches support you throughout your workouts. The owners (Coty and Noelle) are incredible people and they along with their coaches (Megan, Lindsey, & Alejandro) are ALL IN on you and your goals! Finally, the Community is special, where you spend time and create memories with folks that end up becoming dear friends.

If you are looking for a gym that will fully support you with your fitness journey while being part of a wonderful community, I recommend trying this gym. This place might even change your life, it certainly did mine.

Where to even begin...the ownership and coaching team at CrossFit Mountain Island are amazing. You'll be warmly greeted when you walk in the door, then provided with a tailored and challenging workout.

I came in with high expectations and those were quickly surpassed. The initial reason for coming in was to recover strength after a minor shoulder surgery. I've worked with high performing coaches before, and this team is top notch. The attention to detail and help during the workouts are incredible...little hints and small adjustments to ensure my form is safe and I'm staying healthy.

This is way more than a gym...its a community. If you want more than just getting sweaty, stop by and find out what kind of program makes sense. My wife and I come here multiple times weekly and are thrilled to have this incredible group in our lives!

I cannot recommend this gym more!! It is my home away from home. The community of members is by far the best group of people!! Yes, the workouts are tough at times but with the Level Method, no matter your fitness level you will be able to complete the workout and be amazed at what you can accomplish. I love this gym! I’ve been coming here for a few months now, and have been a regular gym-goer for over a decade. Before becoming a member, I was always very wary of CrossFit; like most people, I heard horror stories of injuries and was put off by its emphasis on explosive strength exercises. I was completely wrong.
While there is a significance assigned to being explosive, it’s all functional, and more importantly, very safe. The coaches are constantly walking around, inspecting your form, whether you’re a newcomer or seasoned veteran. They’re big on adjustments, highly encouraging, and quick to tell you when a movement was a fail so that you don’t keep attempting it with improper form and potentially hurt yourself. It’s a fun and functional workout with safety top of mind, and fun a close second.
Aside from the coaches’ expertise, the gym also offers monthly/ quarterly check-ins where you can set goals and quantifiably measure your progress with an in-body scan. This is great because you can actually see how much bone density and muscle mass you’ve gained as well as how much body fat you’ve lost.

Update: still here, still loving it. No matter your fitness level or background, I think this gym is the best place to be.

I moved to Charlotte this time last year. I was looking for a gym and found CrossFit Mountain Island. Joining this gym is one of the best decisions i’ve made. I was getting close to turning 40 & decided it was time to make a lifestyle change. I needed help with both exercise & nutrition. It was overwhelming because of the CrossFit name but the hardest part was walking through the door. I’ve been a member for 3 years which speaks volumes about the coaches & other members. Everyone is welcoming & encouraging no matter what your athletic ability is. The workouts are scaled in the app to your athletic ability to make it less intimidating. The coaches are also knowledgeable who are there to answer questions & correct form. I highly recommend this gym no matter where you’re at on your fitness journey!

CFMI is my “home away from home”. The programming is challenging, but always fun. The level method allows for all levels of fitness so you can challenge yourself every day. Coaches Coty, Noelle, Lindsay, and Megan do a fantastic job of teaching proper form and tweaking workouts when necessary.

The sense of community in this gym is second to none. Everyone is encouraging and supportive. There is not a day that goes by that I’m not excited to walk through the doors and get a good sweat in with friends. I am thankful for everyone that has a part in this gym. Walking through the doors 10 months ago has truly been life changing!

Edit: Hit the 1 year mark at the beginning of the year and I am still loving everything about this gym. Can’t wait to see where the next year takes me!

I hesitate to post a review because I don’t want people finding out about this special place. I want to keep it to myself. I have never felt so at home in a “gym“ before. I tried CrossFit a few years ago somewhere else and did not enjoy the experience. I think it has a lot to do with who runs the facility and who the coaches are. At Mountain Island these folks are like family. I felt welcome from the minute I walked in. In the weeks that I have been there my life is literally changed for the better. Yes, the health improvements are good, and I’m feeling stronger each day, but what keeps me coming back are the people. They could charge double and I would still pay it. I’m glad I took the chance and walked in. In the year and a half that I’ve been there I have literally transformed my body to that of someone 20 years younger

I’m close to hitting my two year mark at this gym and still love it. There was a short window where I wanted to quit for personal reasons and they walked me through the process and made it super clear what to expect. I have been going to CFMI for about 2 1/2 years now. When I walked in the door for the first time I was nervous to get back into fitness. It wasn’t long before I realized I found the perfect place for what I needed. The owners and members were all so welcoming and helpful. Every workout is based on where you currently are in your fitness journey so it does not matter if you can’t do a certain movement. CrossFit as a whole has an amazing community that I have gotten to see and be a part of for just a short time but it is amazing to see how accepting it is of any athletic level and the attention to detail and scalable workouts to build up to what each person is capable of. The trainers at CrossFit Mountain Island pay close detail to form, which is great for a beginner like me who had both existing conditions that make some workouts more difficult and preconceived ideas that some workouts were just "bad for you." With their help and detailed answers to any and all questions, taboos or myths get confidently dispelled.

I joined this gym 9 months ago and have been extremely happy. CrossFit was not on my radar when I was looking for a new gym. A friend invited me to try it out and I was very impressed with the positive atmosphere. I decided to give it a try and am very glad I joined. I spent the first few months just doing personal training sessions and then joined the group classes. I have worked extensively with all of the coaches and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have had years of back and joint pain due to my age and was concerned CrossFit would be too intense for me. Not Just Crossfit. Safe, Expert, Personal Training.
After a long recovery from a couple major surgeries (brain surgery) I had lost a lot of strength and muscle, and confidence I was also now preparing to go into knee replacement surgery and wanted to gain strength and stability going into that for a successful recovery. Thankfully, I had worked with Coty years ago at another gym and knew he was the person to see. Coty has expert precision in creating workouts specifically to maintain safety while building strength and working WITH injuries so I can make progress in smart ways. With expert knowledge, he pinpoints adjustments and educates me on the cause of painful areas and what I can do about it. He is also sincere and passionate in his genuine care--a total professional. Megan is also a fantastic trainer who pays attention to my form while also pushing me to do more than I thought I could. She & Coty also support me with workouts when I'm traveling to help me stay on track. After a few months, I'm already feeling better overall and I'm eager to continue after knee surgery -- making this my second home with a wonderful group of people. I can’t recommend CrossFit Mountain Island enough. I was hesitant at first. I’ve never done this kind of workout and I knew absolutely nothing about nutrition, but the coaches made it incredibly easy for me. They modified my workouts, helped me learn techniques to better myself without risk of injury, gave me plenty of guidance on how to make better choices in my eating habits, and always gave me that personal attention during classes I needed. I can't say enough wonderful things about this gym. i was in a serious rut that I needed help getting out of. I started out with a membership including nutrition and classes and it was just what I needed to get a jump start on a healthier lifestyle. I was really intimidated to start based on the Crossfit name - but not only do the coaches help you modify the workout to fit your abilities, they insist on it. Safety and injury prevention is very obviously a key priority. My fiance and I workout together and despite having very different abilities, are each able to get a really challenging workout. Even through COVID, they've provided a variety of remote training and workouts with consistent check-in to keep everyone accountable. Without this, I definitely would have fallen victim to the 'COVID 19' lbs. Instead I've lost weight and gained muscle. It's really more than just a place to get a workout. Coty and Noelle are focused on all aspects of physical health and genuinely interested in helping people achieve their goals.

What I like about CF Mtn Isle- I don't feel intimidated and I don't feel I am in competition with anyone but myself. The members and coaches are warm and welcoming and make me feel at home from the moment I walk through the door. The coaches are so in tune during the workouts and are determined that you will have your form correct and the method down before trying to throw a lot of weight on your bar. Everyone is encouraging and helpful and I get an amazing workout. I ca already tell a difference in how my clothes fitting and a huge difference in my mood and energy level. If you are looking for a CF home, then this is definitely the one for you. I reached out to this gym on a whim because its close to my house but after meeting with Coty for an assessment I signed up the same day. Ive never been a gym rat and sometimes I still cant believe I'm doing this because its so unlike me. What I can say is that in 3 months I'm stronger, faster, and more flexible. I DID NOT think CrossFit was for me. I can't do box jumps, burpees, or pull-ups... YET! My husband (gym member) kept encouraging me to check it out, but honestly I was very intimidated. I have tried diets, popular gyms and several trainers at different points in my life, all with little success or sustainability. I finally got to a point where I conceded to "just go see" because I was running out of options and feeling majorly defeated. I'm so glad I did. (Insert misty eyes here) My initial conversation was a little vulnerable, but eye opening. The coaches showed me exactly how I could modify so many "typical" CrossFit movements to fit my current abilities. I thought "I COULD DO THAT! Just about anybody could do that!" Don't get me wrong, it's hard. It's the hardest I've ever worked! But the coaches are AMAZING. They're informed, attentive and encouraging, but they also CARE, so much. This is not just a paycheck for them. They are motivated by compassion and committed to seeing you succeed at every level. Side Note: This gym is a drive for my husband and I. But the community and coaches are what we keep coming back for, it feels like HOME. I'm only in my first few moths (I do PT every week) but I can honestly say for the first time in my life that I actually LOVE working out now. I never thought I would say that. I have so much HOPE. I struggle for sure and it's not always pretty, but I am confident in knowing this: I'm fully supported and equipped to reach my goals. The only thing that can stand in my way at this point is me. To the person who thinks CrossFit isn't for them... just go see. It'll change your life.

I was super skeptical about crossfit but took a chance & joined a 6 week challenge (talked into it by my boyfriend) to test it out. We have absolutely loved every minute of it & became full time members when we completed the challenge. I am a true “girly girl” and worried this wouldn’t be for me, but Coty has coached me & given me so much confidence. I instantly felt welcomed & at home in a totally new experience. Through the coaching & teamwork, I continue to surprise myself with what I’m able to do. I started at CrossFit Mountain Island 3 months ago when I decided that bodybuilding had become boring & a chore. Wanting a clean slate, fresh scene, & some new faces in my life I walked into CFMI not exactly sure what to expect. Never have I walked into a new place & not felt a little lost, but I was not lost I was found & greeted by HUSKIES! Coty is an amazing coach/human in general & he made sure I was taught every movement thoroughly before the workout & through the entire WOD with all the patience in the world. I WAS HOOKED, I tried a couple class times, made a bunch friends/family, & finally found my 100% happy place where I have spent countless hours at every Monday through Saturday since. Great Facility and a fun atmosphere. Everyone is very nice and welcoming. I used to hate walking into a traditional gym but this has been very different. Whenever I'm out of town I feel like I'm missing out on a great workout and a great time, and that is coming from someone who is definatly not a gym rat.

Crossfit Mountain Island is an amazing place to work out, relieve some stress, get back in shape, improve conditioning, or challenge yourself to do new things. Over a 6 month time frame I’ve lost weight, leaned up, and improved in almost every single major lift, movement, and bench mark workout.
The programmed workouts take the guessing game out of what to do, the group classes provide a great environment for support and motivation (and meeting some awesome people!), and the tracking system allows you to concretely track your progress and improvement.
When I changed jobs and had to move my workouts to 6:00 am in the morning, I didn’t know how or if I would be able to keep it up, but since joining CFMI I can say one thing: I look FORWARD to getting up and working out EVERY single day!

If you are looking for a gym that offers a personalized experience - this is the right place. Josh Hoke and his staff evaluate your current fitness level and then work with you to determine the best approach to achieve your fitness goals. Unlike other crossfit locations, this one focuses on safety and form first! This prevents injuries and also allows you be consistent with your attendance. The customer base varies in fitness level and all newcomers are welcome.

The best way to evaluate a gym or box is not based on a review but to attend. Contact them for a intro class and it is easy to see why the membership has steadily grown since their opening.

I highly recommend CrossFit Mountain Island - the coaches do an excellent job at pushing athletes to become stronger through great instruction, proper technique, and WOD planning. The facility is well equipped and easy to get to and the member/athletes are amazing. CrossFit Mountain Island is the perfect place to workout! The trainers (Josh, Kelly, Jimmy) are not only well educated and certified in all aspects of CrossFit they also provide a motivational, competitive atmosphere that I enjoy when I workout. All the members treat each other like a family which really helps when going through one of the challenging workouts of the day.
