Very glad Wilmington finally got a crunch fitness! Large gym, lots of equipment, friendly staff! Very affordable and a large variety of equipment- both free weights and machines.

Only thing that needs some attention is the men’s locker/sauna, as they are often in need of a deep cleaning and the sauna has bad smell and is often not hot.

I liked the gym generally but I didn’t get a tour of the facility when I joined. Luckily I did a free pt session and that was awesome so I got a tour then. I can’t remember who was my pt but he was a real one. When I needed to cancel my membership I was told to email the gym so I did. When I got an email back- they said I had to come in to cancel or give written notice. When I went into the gym to cancel they told me a manager had to be there to cancel and a manager wasn’t there. So then I asked to write a note which then I was told the note had to be typed hahaha. It felt very scammy and they were making it sooo hard to cancel my membership. Lex at the front desk was super kind and had to explain all this craziness to me but she was so kind and understanding with my frustration. Lex deserves a raise! Good gym if you plan to be there long term

I really love this gym overall but had to give the 1 star due to their scammy personal training practices. They require 30 day notice to cancel their PT plans, which I did, and have proof of. They still said they were going to charge me anyway (which I’ll be disputing). Submitted a better business bureau complaint and they never even responded to me. It’s just a shame because I had zero issues prior to this incident.

First Visit to Crunch Fitness Wilmington NC — 10/10 Experience!

Just had my first workout at Crunch Fitness in Wilmington, NC, and I’m seriously impressed. From the moment I walked in, the energy was electric welcoming staff, clean facilities, and a vibe that makes you want to push harder. The equipment is top notch and spaced out perfectly, so even during peak hours, it didn’t feel crowded.

What really stood out was the atmosphere upbeat music, friendly members, and a no-judgment zone that lives up to its name. Whether you’re lifting, doing cardio, or joining a class, it’s clear this place is built for all fitness levels.

I recently joined Crunch Gym for a temporary, one-month period and had a deeply frustrating experience with the staff and management that ultimately forced me to leave for a competitor.
First, let's talk about the shady membership practices. I initially signed up online for the second-tier, "no commitment" membership, specifically because I only needed a gym for a short time. When I called to confirm that "no commitment" truly meant I could cancel without penalty before the annual fee, I was told I would still be on the hook for approximately $200 in fees after only three months. That's not "no commitment"—that's a misleading trap.
Thankfully, they offered an unadvertised, $50-for-one-month, no-fees membership which saved the day, as I truly only needed 30 days. The actual gym facility and equipment were fantastic—a true five-star setup.
However, the quality of the gym was entirely ruined by the suffocating sales tactics of the staff.
I was never given a barcode, so every single day I had to walk up to the desk, give them my phone number, and endure the high-pressure sales pitch. Every. Single. Day. No matter how many times I politely declined their offer to upgrade to a full membership, they tried again the next day. This was not helpful checking in; it was annoying and incredibly disrespectful of my time and my repeated "no."
To top it off, Crunch seems to have a deliberate, labyrinthine process for any form of cancellation, which I've confirmed with several friends who had similar struggles. You can't just call or email; you have to cancel "in person" and "only when a manager is present," which is clearly designed to make leaving as difficult as possible.
I happily traded in the great equipment for a new gym. I am now at Planet Fitness enjoying the same equipment, a 24-hour schedule, and most importantly, an experience where management doesn't pester me the second I walk through the door.
Crunch needs to completely overhaul its sales culture and membership transparency. Until then, stay far away unless you enjoy being harassed. The staff ruined an otherwise excellent gym.

Love Crunch Fitness Wilmington! I joined on opening day to sign up for their personal training special. I trained with Meridith for about 2/3 months and loved every minute of it. Meridith knows her stuff and was always prepared to help me focus on my goals. I gained 4 lbs of muscle in just a short time! She was always very motivating and positive without being over the top. She taught me a lot of good tips and tools that I still incorporate today. The gym overall is also great, probably my favorite that I’ve ever been a member of. The equipment is plentiful, varied, and always clean. There is lots of space I never felt like people were on top of each other even when it was “crowded”. I took a Zumba class one time as well and the instructor (can’t remember her name) was full of energy and super funny which made it a great class. Join Crunch Wilmington now!

Crunch fitness is the first gym I’ve ever subscribed to and its been a great experience. The staff are always welcoming , friendly and attentive to any questions you have. The amenities are always clean and maintained by a great cleaning crew. The daycare center is a plus for me and my children always look forward to coming to the gym which has helped me stay consistent. There’s mostly always a fridge stocked with refreshments, energy and protein drinks.

I canceled my membership barely one month after opening in the first week of April, or so I thought. The staff member failed to cancel my membership after confirming with me it was canceled. After receiving a charge for the following month, I took my credit card information off my account.
I then called to confirm the membership cancellation with no luck after speaking to staff members multiple times trying to figure it out.

I then received a charge on my credit card, (without my permission because I remove the credit card) for not only the monthly price, but also yearly fee and late fees. When I finally spoke to the manager in person, I was rudely dismissed. He then jokingly made the comment, “Well the real question is why haven’t you been at the gym”?

Truly, I feel that Crunch Fitness has unjustly stolen money from me. What could’ve been a simple cancellation has been ruined by poorly trained staff and an arrogant manager.

The best indoor gym I've been to, and I usually prefer to work out outside, for several reasons. The app was a breeze to get signed through: seamless and no-frills. Then what I initially considered from reviewed images to be a crowded indoors facility with just NO space and sweat-scented equipment turned me on my head; space aplenty and myriads of specialty equipment with varieties for the same body part. The shower facility was perfect, with handicap seats (I presently have a broken humerus). The ventilation was an added surprise--most gyms are musty-aired: not this one! The app and website say it all!
