I come here to let my shit go and have fun. It felt like CrossFit of hot Yoga and I loved it. I always try to complete the whole class, but honestly, sometimes I end up folded like a pretzel and then just enjoy watching stars doing shavasana or baby pose

I’ve liked all of my instructors, but a special shoutout to Kristine Weaver, who gave me a free cold brew on Friday, 11/14 and completely made my day. Small gestures like that really set this studio apart.

Bonus: I’ve never had any issues with the free parking, which makes getting there totally stress-free.

Overall, I love this place. Great people, great workouts, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I did the 10 day trial at the downtown raleigh Dose location and was a little underwhelmed. There were a couple of things: 1) the music this play during the flows is pretty upbeat and a lot of pop. I personally prefer calmer music during yoga to help me relax. This made the class feel more “intense.” The instructors themselves are fine. 2) Dose needs to reduce its class capacity. I understand they’re trying to bring in maximum revenue, but the 12pm class I attended on Friday was so full that I could not do 50% of the moves without bumping into my neighbor. I came a few minutes before class and the only spot open was right in front of the door which was a safety hazard because people would bump into me as they came into the room. It’s not just Dose, but many workout studios that are trying to stuff as many people as they can into one class.

Update 9/25 — Shout-out to these wonderful teachers:

Alex Cayetano
Nicole Willis
Reb Chun
Alison Banks
Lauren Johnakin
Ashley Arnett
Karley St. Pierre

Grateful for you all!

Thank you to Emily & Stephanie for your non-hot classes. Ji is also just the best, and Kai you are missed.

Management: Shana & Emmarose have been helpful and gracious. Emmarose always responds to emails quickly, which I appreciate.

Credit to Alex for her classes early in my trial—she got me hooked and was the reason I became a Dose member.

The Review:
I wasn't sold initially, but came to recognize Dose as a special community. You may run into a few attitudes like anywhere, but the vast majority of teachers are exceptional, the staff is 95% friendly, and community members are welcoming.

MY FAVORITE TEACHERS... set the space with intention, speak from the heart, and balance the music volume with their voice. No one wants to be shouted at during yoga, nor is it fun when the music is so loud you can't hear instructions.

Try several teachers and I guarantee you'll find someone who is aligned with your vibe and intention.

If you're new to hot yoga or returning to the mat after life happened, "Micro Dose" is a great entry point. "Mellow Dose" is an easier alternative if want something non-heated.

Regardless of who you are or what your skill level is, Dose is worth giving a chance. They offer a 10-day trial that's super affordable so you can dip your toes in to get a feel for it.

Remember that your practice isn't about self-image, ego, or anything external. Nor is it about comparisons and thinking you're better/worse than others. Ananda is a journey within.

"Yoga is the only thing you can do that makes you better at everything you do."

Have to leave some love for Dose downtown!
My journey with Dose studios started at this location over 2 years ago. I had never really been into hot yoga, but after practicing in the space (hello starry sky) and feeling totally supported by the instructors, I was hooked.
As a friend recommended this studio to me - I highly recommend it to anyone reading this.

Each flow strikes the perfect balance of challenge & ease. The community here is friendly & supportive, & it’s evident that everyone involved genuinely cares about creating an inclusive, mindful environment. Dose meets you exactly where you are. Love love love this studio!!! Have been going for years since they first opened. Friendly, kind instructors and smoothie bar staff. Clean and respectful patrons. Every teacher has their own style so would encourage you to try multiple types of classes with various teachers to see which speak to you the most. I’m more of a late afternoon yoga girl - so like to attend ‘Daily Dose’ (60 min heated) classes led by Caitlin or Emmarose, or ‘Mellow Dose’ (60 min unheated/slight warmth) by Kai or Ashley. Also, I did my yoga teacher training under Lipsa so can’t say enough wonderful things about this studio, community, and their offerings!

Dose is like my home away from home! It offers me peace on the worst of days and quiets my mind in all the chaos. And, serves as my personal chef! I love the smoothies (strawberry dream +vanilla protein is my go to) and the burrata toast is often a meal, at least once a week.

The instructors are awesome and each bring their own vibe to a fun yet challenging class. And they always seem to know exactly what to say to keep me focused, motivated and grateful.

Definitely one of my favorite places with the best people. You have got to try it out!

I can’t say enough great things about Dose Yoga & Smoothie Bar! They offer a clean and welcoming environment. Dose’s yoga classes are grounding, energetic, and consistent from their dose down to the daily dose hot flow. The instructors are knowledgeable, and needless to say the atmosphere is beautiful from the candles in the yoga room to their tasty smoothies!

Special shoutout to Emmarose, who helps teach and run things behind the scenes. She’s incredibly warm, organized, and personable. Aside from her having the best smoothie bar recommendations. She makes signing up for classes, starting a membership, and answering questions a seamless experience. You can tell she truly cares about the people who come through the door!

Highly recommend checking out a class or even grabbing something from their smoothie bar. You’ll leave feeling stronger, calmer, and more connected than ever!

I’ve been going to Dose on and off for a while now. It’s my favorite hot yoga studio in the raleigh. One of the few hot yoga studios where I felt comfortable taking breaks when I need to. The instructors are all wonderful and encouraging and provide modifications which is always helpful. The studio itself is always clean and the star ceiling adds great vibes. I love being able to get a smoothie after class. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants to try out hot yoga!

I’ve tried Dose and the other Yoga place at North Hills. Dose is a beautiful space, clean, and the yoga instructor did a great job. However, the staff and manager were not very welcoming, the locker space is awkwardly located in a corner making it difficult to get your belongings and before starting the class the yoga instructor asked that we do not leave the room until the end. I appreciate wanting to minimize disruption, however, outside of shavasana I should be able to leave the room if I need to. Needless to say, I will not be going back. I will be joining the other yoga place at North Hills as they also have a great facility, talented instructors, but are also welcoming, kind, flexible, want you to listen to your body, and make you feel like you’re part of a family.

I enjoyed Dose when I first visited and think that it is still a great class and studio overall. I’ve had great instructors and some that I needed more guidance from. There is the slowed down class Mellow and it’s a great way to learn and the normal Daily Dose. I wish some of the instructors demonstrated more of the moves in class some do and then some talk more it needs to be a balanced especially if you’re still learning.

The downside in my option is how full the classes are. Some of the moves need space!! I’m on the taller side and longer arms. We are always bumping each other in class yes we are understanding because it’s close in there but does every class have to sell out! I’d love to see them reorganize the room and space even if that means it’s 5 -10 less people each class.

Very strict class times which I get completely. Something to be aware of especially downtown with parking. I would leave home 30 minutes early still be running and got the doors closed. Lost money from it even if you’re like a minute late. It’s their policy.

Still I am learning a lot and glad to be in a studio. Some of the instructors are very friendly. As a POC I felt comfortable most of the time. I see other POC in class sometimes. Most instructors have great music which is amazing! Love seeing and learning from others looking up at the stars during class!

Very cool vibe and experience. I loved the sound journey with Ashley, and the stars in the yoga room really add to the ambiance. The front desk staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

All that being said, it was hard to hear the instructors due to the music being loud, and though I didn’t think the music was too loud, I would recommend a mic so you can properly hear both.

I wasn’t a fan of the instructors leaving the class in Savasana. They say you can stay as long as you’d like but most people leave right away and it’s distracting.

All in all, a fun and cool place to try out, just not for me as a regular spot.

This place has such potential to be an exemplary yoga studio, but as a yoga teacher and practitioner, I have a couple of suggestions. I would have provided this feedback privately had I been given the opportunity via survey, but I have not received one thus far.

The classes are well-led. You can tell the teachers are trained in that specific style, which is fine. Some additional variety in structure would be great, though. It gets very repetitive doing identically structured classes all the time.

I have been practicing yoga for about 25 years, many of which have been in heated studios. It's not like I am new to this. However, it's often about 5-10 degrees and 10% humidity too hot. I often find myself feeling overwhelmed by the heat. That, combined with telling people essentially not to listen to their bodies and leave the room if they feel out of sorts due to the heat are pretty serious issues. If you have ever taken a First Aid class, you know that removing someone from the heat in the case of heat illness is key to recovery. Telling people to listen to their bodies, then kind of demanding they don't is contradictory.

My biggest issue, though, is savasana, or lack thereof. The second most teachers bring people down to their backs, they leave the room, and people start packing up. When they start packing up, you often get sprayed with disinfectant or just generally pestered by sound and movement. Savasana is the culmination of the practice, so why not honor it? Otherwise, it's just calisthenics. They spend too much time on the closing balance series, and that time could be devoted to truly integrating the practice.

Again, it's a truly lovely studio, but it may not come close enough to honoring the ancient practice or their bodies for some.

What a gem of a place. From the instructors, the hot yoga room with the most serene setting with a starry sky and "candles", to even the shower area. They create an inclusive space for all human beings and never once have I felt uncomfortable as a transman/member of the LGBTQ community. Also, playlists are fire 🔥 and the smoothies are so so good!

Flawless. Beautiful facility, top notch instructors, and they deliver everything they promise. Having a smoothie ready when you leave class is dangerous in the best way. I can truly clear my mind during class which is such a gift. I’m new to yoga and have made quick improvement and gained a lot of confidence in a short time. Coming from a heavier strength training background, it is nice to integrate this into my week. I believe it is helping my flexibility, range of motion, and posture for my CrossFit workouts.

Signed up for Karley St.Pierres daily dose during a long layover from London. I can’t say better things about this class and instructor. I went to class expecting a typical flow to sleep off the jet lag, but was welcomed with challenging movement, an incredible playlist, & engaging humour. I didn’t want it to end (which is so rare for me). To top it off I ordered a smoothie which was waiting for me as I exited class. Hands down the best experience I’ve had at any studio.

The teachers, energy, class structure, & inclusive nature of the studio will have me coming back every time I am in RDU.

Caitlin, Emmarose, Shannon & Karley are some of my favorite teachers but I have never had a bad class. The support they offer me as a student is amazing & they are so sweet that we have even become friends. It’s very simple, this is the best yoga studio in Raleigh, and it comes with so much more than a movement practice. It comes with community, meditation, breathwork, education and introspection; oh and delicious smoothies, wellness drinks, and toasts. Just go. The only risk you run is having to move away and being disappointed by every future yoga studio you visit. Nothing compares to Dose.

Four months and 238 classes. Over that time I had the privilege of meeting and being taught by 34 different brilliant instructors. Each with their own unique style and playlists. The restorative with Tiffany, Sydney, and Stacy lulled me to sleep. The mellows with Emily Elwood and her excellent minor adjustments, Kai and her unique dynamic flows that always led to feeling stronger as class went on, Lauren who always reminded us of our own strength and ability, and Ashley who takes great care of the plants and her students.

I met so many talented and diverse instructors. Those who especially presented steep challenges along with clear paths toward improvement were Lipsa, Melissa, Leanna, Kat, and Leia, and Alexandria. Dani and Mariah both had such amazing energy and unique flows. Tilly Anne brought playlists that made me want to dance while holding a pose. Caitlyn taught me how to get upside down, along with Emma Rose who also has the smoothest cadence with her vocal instructions during class, where your body just gets hypnotized into poses before you even realize what’s happening. I only had 1 class with Hayley, Shannon, Macauley, Stephanie and Kristine, but they all made an impression on me nonetheless. And who can forget Karley– one of a kind, but if the world had a million more it would most certainly be a better place (with a much dorkier sense of humor as well).

Can’t forget meditations with Christine, transformative sound baths with Kabrina and Ashley Stern, and the interesting breathwork practices with Sinead. So many wonderful people working at the smoothie bars and behind the scenes to help Dose run smoothly and be the sanctuary that it is. I didn’t get a chance to meet everyone but shout out Bloom, Shana, and the renaissance woman herself: Cam, who took on every challenge that came her way to ensure a wonderful experience for all the clientele.

And finally, of course, the one who always made me feel the most welcome, who made it so I never doubted myself, who helped me find and pick up more pieces of myself then I knew was possible. The master of Breath and Beat, the amazing, wonderful, radiant Emily Byrd. I don’t know if I could ever thank you enough for what you’ve taught me, and guided me through the past four months. You are truly a beautiful soul with so much to offer this world.

It’s easy to feel small, and insignificant in this huge interconnected world. Billions of other people on this earth, and we’re all just only one of those many. But what lies within us is so much more vast than we can even comprehend. Possibility– potential. According to most there are 84 different yoga poses. The number of different ways you could sequence is greater than the number of atoms in the known universe. So, put into motion, we are as vast and infinite as the cosmos. Dose set me in motion, and I’ll be forever grateful.

With endless gratitude,
Nick

Their studio is beautifully designed and the practice is quite consistent, with obviously well- trained and dedicated teachers. It has private lockers, showers with amenities and sweat towels and blocks to grab as you need.

But the cherry on the top is their food /smoothie service. I have stopped in only for lunch, and often leaves class with a delicious smoothie and toast waiting for me.

This is my happy place! I mostly go to North Hills but do occasionally pop into downtown when it’s better for my schedule. Love the smoothie and food options. The PB acai bowl is what’s up. My husband loves the avocado toast.

My fav teachers are Emily Byrd, Melissa, Emma Rose, and Alexandria are some of my favs. Came for the yoga, stayed for the womb room, snacks and contrast therapy.

I’m so grateful for this space. I drove 30 min each way multiple times a week! I love the other guests and the people who work here. 10:10 experience.

I’ve enjoyed taking hot yoga classes at Dose! I always leave classes feeling refreshed.

However, I did encounter some challenges with their membership structure, especially since they have two locations. The differences between membership options for each location are not clearly explained. When I called to clarify, I unfortunately had a disappointing experience with the front desk staff. The person who answered was unhelpful and even forgot to put me on hold, which allowed me to hear her rudely ask someone why I was calling.

While this is a small detail, with an unlimited membership costing around $200 a month (for hot yoga + wellness classes), I expected more attentive and respectful customer service. This experience left a sour taste in my mouth, and has made me question if I want to continue my membership. I hope Dose Yoga Studio considers making improvements in customer service, as it would make a significant difference for members like me who enjoy their classes but want a more positive overall experience.

I have done Yoga at many different studios but this was by far my least enjoyable experience. I will begin by saying you must arrive early, Dose is located in the heart of Glenwood, if you do not have ample time to circle the block and find street parking, you will have to bite the bullet and pay to park (which isn’t the worst thing in the world & is no fault of the owners). Granted, it is the day after New years so maybe this is why my experience was less than desirable. I imagine the class was so full with everyone’s New Years Resolutions to “get active” but for the size of the room there were ENTIRELY too many people. I walked in the room & literally the only spot I had left for my little mat was directly in front of the door, I spent the first 15 minutes of class with anxiety I would get knocked in the head by someone swinging it open. I understand it is a business but as I mentioned there were entirely too many people, I spent the 45 minutes crouched in my dark corner with feet & behinds in my face. It is kind of hard to relax when you’re terrified of getting hit by a door or getting kicked in the head by the roughly 6’3 200+ lb guy in front of you . It is also very hard to comfortably stretch & flow when you’re afraid of kicking your neighbor (I heard the man next to me apologize twice for accidentally hitting the person next to him 🙃) . It is a nice looking location with the smoothie bar & all & the yoga instructor had a good flow but the cramped class definitely ruined my first experience.

Dose Yoga has changed my life. I hated yoga - didn't like it at all for the longest time and even the first few times I went to Dose - I was like not for me. BUT - I am telling you - if you're looking for a community, a place to grow, heal, stretch yourself and learn yoga at the same time - Dose is it. Do it for at least a month - consistently. Listen to what they are teaching, hear the words they are saying. It's a practice that with time changes everything. I am so thankful for Dose and the team over there and can't wait to see what else they come up with. <3

The studio offers incredibly delicious smoothies for after the class (highly recommend the one with banana and protein), towels, lockers, showers (with everything you need), and if you forgot your mat, they can rent you one for a very very low fee.
