My husband and I have been going to Empower for the past year, and it has truly become so much more than just a gym. It’s a community and a place where we can get all-inclusive wellness support under one roof. From training to physical therapy, everything feels seamless and connected.

We’ve also both seen The Obstacle Doc, the PT group inside Empower, and they are incredible as well—it really feels like a one-stop shop for health and wellness. Every trainer knows our names and greets us with warmth, even in the early mornings, which makes it feel like family.

We specifically work with Chris Peralta, and we can both confidently say he has changed our lives! His guidance, encouragement, and expertise have made a lasting impact.

Listen, I hate exercise. Really and truly. I've been on this earth for over 40 years, and I've hated exercise for every one of them. Then I realized that only thing I hate more than exercise is discovering that I need to exercise in order to remain healthy and mobile as I age. I explained my hatred of exercise and all of my various other hangups to Marques at Empower and he took them all in stride. I thought I'd give up after a few months, because that's pretty much my M.O., but I've been working with Marques for almost 2 years now. I still mostly hate exercise, but I really enjoyed having exercised. I feel stronger and no longer make a grunting noise every time I get up from a chair. Marques does a great job picking exercises that are engaging and challenging. All of the other staff members there are so friendly and welcoming. I can't imagine working out anywhere else.

My trainer, Kyle, is a bright young man who brings a no-nonsense approach to training, wrapped in courtesy and affability. He challenges you, keeps you consistent, and helps you push your limits—but he’s also incredibly careful about not letting you go overboard. He’s always watching form, pacing, and effort to make sure your progress is smart and sustainable.

The entire team reflects this same balance of care and competence. Telese is both endearing and extremely skilled, a trainer who makes you feel supported every step of the way. Iman is a source of daily inspiration, with her own commitment to fitness shining through. Marcus and Chris, even though I don’t train with them, always make a point to connect, showing how deeply everyone at Empower values community.

And then there’s Jess—who sets the tone with her leadership and client-focus for what a truly empowering gym experience should be.

If you need to get in shape but never had the will power to work out regularly, Empower is the place for you! They have programs where you can work out once, twice, or three times a week with a trainer. I've been going to Empower for around four years now. Ben and Jay are awesome trainers. I’ve been working with Marques ~2-3x a week for over a year now. Prior to finding Empower, I had never been a gym person and hadn’t worked out for years. This is all different now! I cannot recommend Marques and Empower enough!

Marques is the absolute best! I recently had a session with Kyle. He is talented, creative, down to earth, and infectiously positive, even during the most brutal parts of his workouts. I cannot say enough good things about working with Chris P. at Empower. I began working with Chris right before getting pregnant and largely credit working with him twice a week through my pregnancy for how good I felt and how healthy my pregnancy was throughout. 30 minutes of positive reinforcement; people who help you jump start the fire in the engine room; ensure that i'm straining (or not straining) my goozle, and provide the encouragement to believe that I CAN DO IT. I’ve been a client at Empower for about 8 months now and am so grateful to Jessica for creating this space and Judy, my trainer, for helping me feel the best I’ve felt in years. Judy has been absolutely phenomenal to work with on my journey to not just feeling but actually being healthier. Judy understands my priorities for my health and incorporates cardio, strength and resistance training, as well as barre and yoga moves all for strength, balance, flexibility, and toning. Each week I marvel at how my trainer Telese comes up with workout combos that are strengthening and appropriate for my nearly 79-year-old body. Our sessions are short -- only 30 minutes over Zoom -- but she pays attention to all areas of my body and checks in with me regularly about whether I'm feeling any discomfort, then corrects my posture or technique or modifies the exercise to alleviate undue strain.

With a spotty fitness history, and a milestone birthday coming up in 2019, I KNEW I needed to be stronger in order to prevent injury and stay active during the second 50 years of my life. ;p My trainer met me right where I was--she accommodated modifications I needed, and yet pushed me, too. About eight months in, I was diagnosed with cancer and went through surgery, chemo, and radiation in 2020. After 15 years of refusing to work out, and a pandemic year (a daily consumption of a pint of Ben and Jerry's included) I realized that I should probably do something about my physical state. Honestly, I did not believe that anything would stick, but I decided to give it a try. In Empower i met Raham, my personal trainer, who was more optimistic than I was, and pushed me to start and to take it seriously. Raham does a tremendous job. He built me a training program that struck the fine line between constantly pushing me forward but not breaking my body or spirit in the process. We met regularly - three times a week - for half a year. It was not long before I felt the difference: my body feels better, i sleep better, I am more energetic, and I move completely differently. Raham kept encouraging me. Pushed me to do more and better while reminding me the improvement I made in the process. The gym itself is also top notch. Tons of different kinds of equipment that make life more interesting. The people are very friendly. I highly recommend Empower and Raham. Unfortunately I am moving out of town, otherwise I would have definitely stayed there.

When COVID set in, switching to Zoom sessions was no problem. I was immediately drawn to the owners Jessica & Ronda because they were breaking new ground with their business model and their standards for hiring were very high in an industry where anyone can be a trainer, they know how to select the best in the industry. Telese is very focused and creative with her training programs. She is very keen on customization as she even had added movements to help the mobility of my left foot since it no longer moves like my right because of an injury. Her approach is therapeutic but never lacks in intensity. She is a vegan, and never pushed it on me, although I wish she had, Lol. I went vegan on my own after training with her for over a year. She is so inspiring and really knows her stuff, I feel fortunate to have been paired with her!

Chuck is full of surprises as a human and a trainer. I feel like he is the male version of myself, and being able to get to know him in the last 6.5 months has been good for my soul. His athletic background as an elite swimmer & going to the Olympic trials is truly impressive. His ability to change a program on the fly because I express my issues before we begin is so appreciated. Chuck knows how to build a program that meets me where I am and push me to places I didn't know I had in me that day. His warmth and relaxed vibes are like working with your best friend that only wants the best for you. I am always excited to see him even if it is on Zoom. He is a huge blessing in my life.

I feel very fortunate and privileged to be a participant in virtual, personal training sessions with Nestor Paonessa at Empower Personalized Fitness. The name speaks for itself, as one of the many reasons that I highly recommend his services, is that he individualizes each session to best fit the participants and their current needs/goals. I participate in two sessions per week. One group comprises (elite) senior women tennis players (from Fla., Mass, and NC); although every session is different, he always challenges us with exercises that promote the strength and flexibility necessary to be a successful, competitive tennis player. Additionally, we have a family group session with my son and his wife, who join my sister and me, once a week.My sister and I are , let's just say, over 65, athletic and, generally, in pretty good shape. My son and his wife are in their early 30s ,are avid long-distance runners/athletes, and live in Germany. Nestor , again, personalizes each of these sessions to address our diverse needs and goals.

Having been a participant in these personal training sessions since March, I can attest that Nestor is the consummate professional who works hard to make each session interesting, enjoyable, and productive. He freely gives advice, when asked, relating to personal concerns such as chronic or recent injuries or any other physical health issues, recommending specific stretches or exercises to prevent injury and/or promote recovery from injury . His expertise is very much trusted and appreciated by all of us.

Perhaps most importantly, Nestor is a remarkable person who is genuine in his care and regard for all who participate in his sessions. His warm personality , delightful sense of humor, and positive/encouraging nature make him such a pleasure to work with. Six of us have been doing zoom workouts with Nestor twice a week. These are geared to tennis ... strength, flexibility, balance and explosiveness. Nestor varies the sessions and pushes us each week. The customer service at empower is AMAZING. Most staff know me by name, always say hello, and are friendly and welcoming.

I have been working with personal trainer Chris Lathrop for around 2 years and have always found him fun, funny and a great motivator. Recently he went above and beyond by coming to a yoga class with me as a birthday gift. This is wonderful for so many reasons. First, Chris got up early on a day when he usually doesn't have to (in my book, that's huge!) AND he showed me how dedicated he is to *my* health and progress by putting himself outside his comfort zone to support me. Chris' action has certainly helped me get re-dedicated to my workouts.

I have also become addicted to yoga at Empower due almost entirely to the amazing teacher R.J. Lisander. R.J. is so supportive and encouraging, and never pushes you to do more than your body is capable of. She is a superb motivator who genuinely cares about her students. She literally jumps up and down when you accomplish a tough pose you've been working on for a while!

The other members of Empower are equally awesome, friendly and supportive. I've gotten to know some wonderful folks who are regulars like I am.

By seeing how many people care about my exercise program, it certainly has inspired *me* to care more about my exercise program.

I’ve been going to Empower Personal Training for over 5 years now and love the friendliness and professionalism of the staff and trainers, the cleanliness of the facility, the variety of workouts and classes and the relaxed and supportive environment. Currently, I do pairs or individual training once a week with Paul and try to get to at least one group class each week. It is clear that the trainers love what they do and are passionate about helping people of all ages be fit and happy. Jessica and Ronda (co-owners) lead the way and set the tone. They are smart and hard working and its no surprise that the business is thriving in these uncertain times. Staying active and healthy is part of my family’s financial plan and the money we spend at Empower is worth it!
The annual decathlon is coming up again which is a month long focus on 10 events (not your typical olympic decathlon!). Some of the events include a wall sit, 1,000 meter row, suicides up the stairs, sled pull......you get the idea. You post your best time or weight lifted, pushed or pulled in each category and at the end of the month, the final rankings determine the champion team and individual for both men and women. It is very motivating and sometimes very silly. I hear this year they are going to put all of the trainers through the paces and let us “lift” the best trainer’s time/weight in 2 events! Another fun thing they do, in the Spring, is Train the Trainer...you can pay (donations to go a chosen local charity) to torture your trainer! Sounds great, until that next workout, when they seek revenge.
I’m looking forward to the new expanded space and additional group classes. Empower Personal Training works for me!

Having been athletic my whole life, there are times when I have fallen off the band wagon, as most of us do. With that being said, my most recent fall was about 1 yr. ago. I decided to lace up my shoestrings and get back into the groove that I am all to comfortable in. After some extensive research in locating the best "push" that I needed again, I landed here @ Empower. I am two months in, and back in the swing of things. Everyone has been flexible, helpful and supportive. I have made some new friends along the way and definitely notice a difference already. Not only does the gym improve one's personal appearance, it changes you on the inside more than anything. The boost of self confidence and the knowledge of being fit provides a feeling of "Empowerment!" This is my 3rd summer working out at Empower, and I could not say enough good things about my experience there! Each summer I have done the "Fit Club" package (awesome deal!), so I've been able to work personally with a trainer (Tom=amazing!), do their classes, and use their gym. The classes are wonderful, and the trainers are super patient when you are new and make you feel really comfortable right away...not to mention, they try to make it as fun as possible! Doing the personal training sessions are awesome, too, and I feel like they do a great job trying to individualize your workout according to what you need or what results you are looking for! And, the gym itself, and equipment is great (and will be even better, I'm sure, with the expansion!). Everyone that works there is so friendly and welcoming, and I can honestly say that I've had at least 2 other staff members that I've never worked with before greet me by name, which I think says a lot about the way that they value their clients...even the ones they don't personally work with! I can't say that I've actually "enjoyed" working out and going to the gym until I started coming to Empower!
