This gym is one of the best for a small town. The staff are friendly and helpful. Yes its small but it has everything you need for a good workout. Yes there are negative reviews and most of them is because they wanted special treatment for canceling their membership. They were told what the policy is before they signed the contract. However most of these people didnt want to do it according to the set policy and wanted to be special and when they didn't get their way they left bad reviews. Its a shame but I have been a member there since it opened and have never had a single issue. If you are serious about getting fit and getting in better physical shape, you really dont need to look any further and if you live in the Richlands area, there is no need to drive clear to Jville to get a good workout. Overall the prices are quite comparable to other facilities, plus it close and convenient.

My debit card was lost a few days ago so it’s been put on freeze until my new one arrives in the mail within a few days, my bill was due today and i got a message at 2am saying it didn’t go through. Instead of just getting a message or a reminder saying i need to make a payment i was charged an extra $20 the day of my payment for it not going through immediately. I think there is a much better way in handling a late payment rather than charging an extra amount of money the day of… especially considering i’ve been a member for quite a while now and have never missed any payments. I should have been sent a reminder the day of that way i could find out a different way to make the payment and THEN have been charged extra the day after if the payment was not made. Extremely disappointed it was handled this way and think the set up should be different.

Every time I walk into this gym, I am greeted by welcoming staff. I love the small town vibe of this gym. It has all the equipment I need to get a good workout. All the staff including front desk, trainers and instructors are friendly and knowledgeable, ready to answer any gym and wellness questions I may have. Also the childcare is awesome and great for kids of all ages. They really tended to my son when he was having drop off issues. Now he is excited and happy to go play while I have my gym time.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the poor customer service I experienced at your gym. Unfortunately, my first impression has been extremely disappointing, and I feel it is important to bring this to your attention. Manager (Jess)

During my recent visit, I encountered unprofessional and unwelcoming behavior from both Jessica B and her male coworker at the front desk. When I asked about the possibility of receiving a tour, the response I was given was, “I guess.” This type of dismissive language is not only unhelpful, but it is also unacceptable for staff members who represent your gym to potential and new customers.

The overall attitude displayed by both staff members was unprofessional and discouraging. As someone who had just purchased a 3-month membership, I now feel too uncomfortable to return and use the facilities. This means my membership is essentially going to waste due to the negative experience created by your front desk team.

I strongly recommend that your staff, particularly those at the front desk, receive training in customer service and professional communication. First impressions are critical in the fitness industry, and staff members should be trained to welcome and assist new members with respect and enthusiasm.

I am disappointed that my experience at your gym has been tainted in this way, and I hope that corrective action will be taken so that future customers do not feel the same.

I referred a member for training a couple of months ago. Jonathan has been her trainer and her transformation, though in it's early stages has been life changing. His knowledge, people skills and professionalism are far above what I would expect at a fitness center.. I started personal training with one of the members named Jonathon a couple of months ago; he has been extremely helpful and kind, and has helped me to push myself for the best results. I lost some weight with his plan, and it never felt like a chore going to the gym! I signed up for Fit4Life because I was told it was a month-to-month membership and that I could cancel at any time. I made it clear from the beginning that I might only be able to continue for a few months due to personal life changes, and I was told that wouldn’t be a problem.

Now, as I try to cancel, I’m being told I have to give 60 days’ notice and pay for two more months, even though I can’t even use the gym.

I’d also like to mention that they still require you to pay for another month, even after submitting their cancellation paperwork with a doctor’s signature confirming an injury.

If I had known this was essentially a three-month commitment, I wouldn’t have joined. I take some responsibility for not digging deeper into the fine print, but the way this was verbally presented is not the same as they enforce (Beware). They should be much clearer up front—especially for people who are unsure how long they’ll be able to continue.

Paying for a gym I physically can’t use and no longer need due to life circumstances just doesn’t feel right—especially when I was upfront about what I needed in a membership

This is exactly the problem. When I signed up, I was told I could cancel at any time, not that I'd be required to give 60 days' notice or continue paying for months I can't use. That is not a month to month program.

You offer a Verification of Disability form as a "solution," but even with medical proof, you still make people pay another full month. That’s not helping—it's just more red tape to keep charging people who can't attend.

Had the cancellation policy been communicated clearly and honestly up front, I never would have signed up. Instead, I feel misled, and now I’m being forced to pay for a membership I can’t use, even after I made my situation clear from the beginning.

Hear we are now in May and this gyms collection company is still harassing me. I have hired an attorney to handle these bullies and i have no issue with getting my attorney to file harrassment charges against them.
I have been removed from their website, my doctor has sent the documentstion to stop this and yet they keep going. I have forwarded the latest message from peak to my attorneys this morning. This gym will stop either out of court or in a court action!!!!

I would never recommend this gym to anyone , especially a senior. They do not have any staff that is competent in medical issues. So dont risk your health.
They have a collection company called PEAK. This company is staffed with bullies and people who threaten you for money. Even after my doctor filled out the form on their website to remove me from the gym, they told me i had to pay for one more month or they would file it on my credit.
Please NEVER SIGN A CONTRACT for a trainer! The guy that is doing the sale on that contract for a trainer will lie to you to get you to sign. And you are at their mercy for whatever trainer they want to assign to you even if that person is incompetent. The contract takes away your right to chose and gives it to the gym. This should never happen.
I will never again join a gym that is as dishonest up front as fit4life. They dont care about you they only care about the money!

I’m in a gym 5-6 times a week and Fit4Life in Richlands was one of them for my about 6 months. What a dump!! I travel a lot for work so I have multiple gym memberships and this gym ranks the lowest of all. To validate my rating, filter these Google reviews by “Newest”. Maybe years ago this gym was 4+ Stars, but you’ll see 1-2 star ratings over the past 12 months. -poor gym management and upkeep!
Here are my first hand Reasons: Facilities are in poor condition! Example: A pad on a bench is cracked, busted open, they put duct tape over it (but it was black tape, so the color matched nicely).
The changing area is basically a closet so small there’s no room for a door (literally has no door).
The old mismatched equipment looks like it was acquired at a used/secondhand auction. And with the amount of rust, many pieces are past their life expectancy.
The bathrooms are so old and dirty, I would try not to use them (and especially don’t touch anything).
The place is filthy. Example: hair and dirt on the floor all around the base of the equipment. There is zero hand sanitizer provided in the facility and half of the paper towel dispensers are empty.
After you get a membership, the 3rd party billing company is slow and difficult to stop billing.
The only reason this gym has as many members as it does is because there’s no other gym in town to compete with. I rather drive a little further for a better facility

Called a couple weeks ago to check on a class and was told I could come take the classes and pay for the class WITHOUT being a member... called today to see all the classes that they offered and was told I HAD to be a member to take the classes 🤔 when I told the lady what I had been told previously, she retracted her statement and said "well it would just be cheaper if you were a member"...that's very different than you "HAVE" to be a member. Look, if you don't know the answer to a question, I get that but go ask someone, don't sit up here and lie to get members and then stumble over your words when you're called out. Not a good look. No thank you.

Maybe next time say, "sure you can come take the classes for a fee but it would be cheaper to be a member". Do you see how I didn't lie there... big difference. They charge a premium price of 29.99/m for a small and usually dirty gym that has alot of broken cardio equipment. But I could get over that because it saved me a commute to Jacksonville and it had everything you need to get a good workout in. What really burns me up is this place says you have to give a 60 day written notice and your responsible for all membership prices until that cancelation date. Bad and out dated gym business practice. Shame on you Fit for Life. Planet Fitness is cheaper, free massage chairs, tanning, etc...... and most importantly when your ready to cancel they don't pull 60 day written notice crap like this.

Gym is decent nothing crazy. Issue is they basically make it impossible to cancel even with change of station orders. I called followed the steps to cancel sent in my written statement to cancel and then apparently you ALSO have to cancel your “auto renewal” so they said they canceled my account for me but since I never canceled my auto renewal they just renewed my account and kept charging me which btw they didn’t explain when they told me how to “cancel my account”. I would give a zero if I could. I purchased the membership knowing I only wanted a one year commitment due to getting some weight loss for a wedding. I asked very specific questions about what I need to do at the end of the one year so the contract would not roll over into a 3 year commitment. It was explained no worries just come in to the facility in December of 2023 and fill out paperwork. I went to do that and was told nope you have to do it on the App so I did that. Guess what it is now July 2024 and I am still paying!!!!!!! I have called , I have went in and did the close out on the App. Nothing has stopped them from taking my money that they do not deserve!!!! For some reason my daughter did all the same steps and they stopped charging her in December when it was supposed to be stopped! I guess Better Business Bureau needs to know at this point!

On 4/25/24 my experience there was great I've paid for a guest pass and on that day it was $10.00. And the lady I talked to was very nice. Now on my next visit 4/27/24 a new person I've talked to wanted to charge me $25.00. So I asked why 25 when it was 10.00 4/25/24. She said it went up all of the sudden. Okay??? Crazy. I've just left they never gave me no real reason or answer.

The gym was decent, had what you needed, 24 hour access was a plus. My headache that made none of that worth it is that I was in the area when I was active duty. I got my DD-214 and orders and 3 months after leaving the area am still paying the bill after emailing and calling and submitting those forms. They told me they would send it to collections if I did not pay. NOT WORTH IT. Be careful if you are there on active duty and plan to leave. Not very military friendly for being close to military bases. Hope this helps someone

I cant say enough good about this place.
If your looking for a gym that is as comfortable and accepting as planet fitness but HATE the color purple this is the place. Ages 16- to who knows, and everyone just coexist. They have so many extras, classes for kids, seniors, zumba, karate/self-defense it's an all around gym. A true 24/7 with child care which is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Alex, Jess and Christian are all phenomenal people and coaches! Welcoming as soon as you step in the place.

I am so excited about my progress! I joined Fit4life Health Clubs - Richlands on January 15th. I decided that I was done being unhealthy. So I also signed up with a personal trainer named Madison (which is absolutely amazing). I also changed my diet and gave up Pepsi! In 17 days! Yes, 2 1/2 weeks here is my progress:

Gym over all has the things you need. Got talked into personal training. Wasn’t explained well enough and now I’m stuck with a package I will not use. And they down graded it however I won’t be using it. So yeah paying double the cost of my month membership a month for something to sit there and never be touched. The best part is I was forced to pay 59 bucks to start the program went to one of the training sessions to realize it’s not what I needed but apparently there is nothing they can do but down grade. So moral of story gym good, majority of the staff stellar never sign up for anything unless you ask if your stuck in the contract for 12 months or more. They did not tell me that. So I am guess other people may have the same experience.

Although I filled out a survey a few days ago, I actually got the managers mixed up, the fit4life actual mgr., TJ is remarkable, he’s the one that always greet me by name, he walk through and touch basis w/patrons including myself and I see TJ talking/interviewing new perspective patron in a calming/relaxed manner. Although I still feel that cooperate need to pass down a way for mgmt and other employees to insist patrons adhere to the rules of wiping down equipment as they use them, it does not matter if Covid is on the back burner…germs are germs, no one want to deal with anyone else’s sweat. Other than this issue I find this fitness center a nice place to workout and I feel that TJ is what mgmt should be like, greeting and interacting with patrons, the other 2 guys are very nice as well.

Who closes the gym for cleaning on a Saturday morning until 1100am. Taking pre-workout then not being able to lift doesn’t feel the best. Perhaps planning the cleaning for a weekday while most people are at work/school would make more sense.

I am just starting with a trainer at Fit4life after being away from weight training etc. since knee replacement and back surgery. I am pleased with their approach to my "weak spots" and a specialized program for me in general. I am 66 years old and looking to stay young. I am confident I am in for a very productive time at the gym and with my trainer!

Lovely staff, down to earth, and always helpful. I generally like to be left alone when I work out, but it's nice to have a gym staff that are available to their members. These fine people do not make themselves elusive, as I've seen at other gyms. They are out in the open, at the desk, or interacting with the members who go there and are always available to answer any questions. The facilities are clean and do not seem too cluttered with equipment, even though it is a smaller gym. Thus far it has been a positive experience!

Amazing place. I really like their evening group classes. Step class is my favorite so far. The gym is set up nicely and very clean. I like it alot better than planet fitness. I enjoy the trainers and all the assistance that is there to help when you have a question. Very warm and welcoming.

Fit4life personal trainers are some of the best. My trainer out here not only pushing me to be the best also teaching me along the way about my nutrition and what i can take to help me better my self. I have been out of the military for 5 years and I have been making moves to rejoin and I can say for a fact that once I told my trainer, he was on board threw out the old program and created a whole new program to help me not only succeed in rejoining but also help me be the best once I rejoin. I love this place and honestly recommend these personal trainers to any one! I have seen some Of these trainers in there at 4:30 am training clients! If you want to be physical and mental pushed give them a call and talk to them about there rates and everything you won’t regret it!!!!

Jessica and the Team are all awesome! They are all very supportive and answers all the questions that I have and really breaks it down for me with their knowledge of the equipment.
Fit 4 life is the kind of gym that you can be your best self and you’re able to embrace yourself as well with new challenges.
The child care staff are also amazing and super friendly. My kids absolutely loves them and looks forward to seeing them every time we go in.
I’d recommend anyone to go in and join!

I cancelled my membership for my husband, son, and me. I asked if all 3 were cancelled they said yes. I keep getting payments going through after the 3 months from cancelation. They said it was not clear enough and I need to cancel the other 2 membership separately. Tried to cancel multiple times but still getting monthly payments. Now they finally cancelled my husband's. I am still waiting on my 17 year old son membership to cancel. They will not get back to me and still trying to get monthly payments. It's all about the money for them. Don't care about customers and calling back.
