If you’re looking for a gym in Jacksonville, this is the one! Hands down the best gym my husband and I have ever been to. We only left because we moved, and we miss it so much already! They’ve got all the equipment you could ever need, but the best part is the people and the atmosphere. Everyone is so nice, welcoming, and supportive, it truly feels like a family. The daycare is incredible! The staff are attentive, patient, and genuinely care about the kids. I loved that they have a monitor so you can check in on your little ones while you work out. Huge shoutout to the amazing women in the daycare 🫶🏼 Kim and Makayla, you’re the best! Also want to mention Danny (the manager) and Brenda at the front desk, both go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. We can’t say enough good things about this place. I'm from the Goldsboro area and happened to be in town for work. I decided, why not check out Jacksonville's Gold Gym? At first glance, before entry, I noticed from the side window the beautiful artwork done in the Day Care Center. Upon entering, I was greeted by the front desk staff, who were very kind. I asked the front desk lady where the locker rooms were, and she asked if I was new. I mentioned I was from Goldsboro, and I was a regular at that Golds Gym, and I had just decided to stop in to check out the Jacksonville Golds. She introduced herself as Brenda. She seemed extremely excited when I told her where I was coming from, and she then offered to give me a tour, to which I agreed. The tour was great, Brenda kept it short yet very informative. I really liked the layout of the gym equipment; there was definitely a lot of thought and consideration that went into the layout, which is something I'm sure many could appreciate. For example, if you're hitting legs, you don't have to travel all over the gym to get to the machine you need; it's all in one area for convenience. They have a little semi-hidden section that Brenda refers to as "the booty lab" lol, which they essentially hid on purpose to allow whoever is using a machine, such as "hip abductors", to help them not feel so awkward or uncomfortable. And as a woman, I definitely respect and appreciate the thought behind creating that section. Also, as someone who cannot stand being under fluorescent lights for too long, I loved the section that has no lights on, but in it, it has treadmills, and I believe I saw elliptical machines. The locker rooms were really clean, spacious, and the mirrors were in areas that just made so much sense to have them in. I was extremely impressed with the overall environment, aesthetic, and staff of this particular Gold's Gym. I definitely plan on revisiting soon! Since my very first session with Anthony, he has been both kind and strict in the best way possible. He knows exactly how to push me past my limits—even on the days I don’t feel like giving my all. He has also helped me clean up my eating habits, which has made a huge difference. Since training with him, I’ve noticed more energy not only in the gym but in my everyday life, and I feel so much more confident in myself. I went into this place just to TOUR it months ago, the owner and Brenda were very PRESSED to get me to sign up AND MY INFORMATION. I informed them that I would need to discuss the monthly payment with my husband BEFORE agreeing to it! They asked for all of my information, I provided them my information not thinking that they would go AGAINST what I said, I started receiving notifications about the payments. I just reached out to them letting them know that I had been involved in a major car accident and I wasn’t even in the area at this time! Brenda asked me for documentation from my doctor, and Danny the owner said to me “I understand what you are saying but we have a membership agreement! Y’all are about to get turned over to collections so you can dispute it with them” It’s clear that he and his worker are only about the MONEY and don’t care about anyone. I understand it is a business, but at the end the day at least show that you care! I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone and once I do return to the area and I am able to workout again I will NEVER step foot in this place! This place is ALSO too expensive over $100 a month, and then you have to pay additional if you more than two children which is insane! I’ve been at another gym before and never paid an extra penny for my third child! INSANE! If I could rate this place a no star I most definitely would!

I am a Marine and received orders to leave the area. I sent my orders to the billing department by email and received a confirmation five days later that my membership was canceled. I thought everything was resolved, but over a month later I discovered I was still being charged.

When I called to address the issue, Ms. Brenda was very short with me, unprofessional, and it was clear she didn’t care about my situation. She didn’t even know the correct billing department email and brushed me off instead of providing proper guidance or support.

This has been a very frustrating process, and I feel there is no real support from the gym to help service members with cancellations. Thankfully, I have resources to help me, and I expect I will be refunded and able to make the situation right. But it should never be this difficult. I hope federal entities continue to enforce stronger regulations to make cancellations easier—like the steps already being taken with other gyms such as Planet Fitness.

We all know it shouldn’t be this hard to cancel a membership. I especially feel for non-service members who don’t have the legal resources or support networks to fight this. Even if you provide your orders and receive confirmation, you may still run into unnecessary obstacles and poor customer service here. Be prepared.

One of the best gyms I’ve been to! Gold’s Gym Jacksonville is super spacious, so even during peak hours it never feels overcrowded. They have an amazing variety of machines for every muscle group, plus plenty of free weights and cardio options. The 24/7 access is a huge bonus for anyone with a busy or unpredictable schedule. Everything is clean, well-maintained, and the atmosphere is motivating. Highly recommend if you’re serious about your fitness!

I am in town for a good little bit and I wanted to stop in to get a few workouts done before I leave again So I stopped in to Gold’s here in Jacksonville North Carolina and I have to say this is probably the absolute cleanest and the most traditional gym I have ever been in a longtime; Danny the owner of the gym greeted me with much professionalism and enthusiasm, he treats everyone very well and during breaks in-between workouts he is always checking in with his clients and staff.
Clients that workout here are friendly and helpful as well.
The kids center is very well oriented and clean. The ladies that work in the department are very down to earth and very helpful for all ages.
Definitely a great gym to be at.

Also for my bodybuilding community if you know what I mean by a traditional gym yall already know. It’s like metroflex and Fitness 19 in California. All pros and rising pros should go to this gym here in Jacksonville.

Gold’s Gym in Jacksonville gets a solid 5 stars from me. The customer service is always top-notch, the bathrooms are spotless, and the gym equipment is great—but the real standout is the daycare. Unlike the other two major gyms in town, where the daycare feels chaotic and unstructured, Gold’s Gym maintains a calm, controlled environment. The staff is attentive, always watching the kids, ensuring safety and order. I don’t care how nice the equipment is—if a gym’s daycare isn’t safe, I’m not going. Gold’s Gym gets it right.

Just moved to Jacksonville and I’ve been contemplating on joining this particular gym. This gym has been a go to every time I’m visiting town. It’s never closed and the manager or somebody is always available to do a guest pass. The manager himself is a 10 out of 10. His customer service is the best I’ve had at any gym. Would recommend getting a membership here or dropping in if you’re out of town.

When we started our membership we loved how they seemed supportive of military families. We told DANNY we were pending orders to move cross country and asked if canceling would be difficult or tedious. He assured us that if we were to have military orders that we could cancel any time. The time came to cancel and my husband called the gym and was instructed to email them the orders. We emailed them the orders and trusted they would cancel our membership. I was already 8 months pregnant, we traveled cross country and bought a house, we had a newborn, and he deployed 4 months later so you can imagine how busy we were. He just came back from deployment and THEY NEVER CANCELED OUR MEMBERSHIP. Not to mention we don’t even have a Golds Gym near us. DANNY told us there was nothing they could do because we didn’t keep our confirmation number but that would cancel today (OVER A YEAR LATER of NOT using their Gym). Now after receiving approval for cancelation, they are charging us an additional month because of their “30-day policy”… extremely disappointed with this franchise owner and Gold’s Gym. I will be getting ahold of corporate.

I don’t always feel compelled to write a review but owner Danny really sold me on it. I had asked him for a tour after touring another local gym. The gym in which I won’t name were snobby and sales driven. Couldn’t care less about connecting with the prospective member. It was like they tried to hide their disinterest in my presence but didn’t do a good job. I also work in the fitness industry and I personally think it’s important to acknowledge what fitness means to people and whether they sign up or not- make them feel empowered. Danny was awesome. Breath of fresh air. He walked me through all the equipment and let me try what I came in to find. He helped me feel supported in the exploration process with no pressure to sign up. He even checked on me during my workout a few times after I enrolled as he knew I was somewhat new to this level of gym and wanted to make sure I didn’t feel lost. Thank you, Danny!

I highly recommend this gym! It features a great layout with private workout spots and is very functional. I've never found a machine out of order, and the equipment is always up-to-date and clean. Do NOT sign a contract with this gym. They will lie to get you to sign it, and once you’re in it is nearly impossible to get out. My husband and I were helping our son and his wife get settled at Camp Lejune this past week. Drove cross country. We both have a workout schedule that we wanted to keep while we were there. I reached out to a few gyms the evening we got there, and Danny replied right away with “Sure! Come by in the morning and we can get you set up”. Met with him and couldn’t ask for a nicer guy. Made us feel welcome, and got us set up with a 3 day pass. The facilities were very nice and clean. Even during peak hours, it wasn’t hard navigating through my workout. Very top notch equipment. Everyone was pleasant. My husband and I both agreed if we lived there, we wouldn’t hesitate to join. Can’t wait to stop back by the next time we are visiting:)

We don’t live in Jacksonville NC but we’re staying over the weekend. We wanted to find a place to workout while we were there. Even though it was outside their staffed hours, the owner of the gym was there and let us in. He was super polite and helpful, setting us up with a onetime workout pass. Love this gym and my son loves the daycare!! The owner Danny is so nice filled with positive energy always greeting people walking in/ out of the gym. Golds guy is usually a Good gym at least the ones I have visited before and around the US. ,I want to say this the staff at the one here in jville are positive , kind, Understanding. My only thing is the workout area is too crowded it's cluttered with equipment and it's like no room to move or breath, they tried to put every machine in this tiny space they have space but didn't utilize it well I do not think I would join for that reason as walking is hard to do no one wiped down after they finished COVID, FLU, COMMON COLD ARE STILL THINGS. if they made space and rearranged things I would consider.

Love this 24/7 gym! Danny (the owner) is friendly and always updating the gym with new equipment, a fresh coat of paint or a better layout. They're charging premium prices for a less than average gym. No pool, no basketball court no sauna. Go to another Gold’s gym and they’re plush! Latest and greatest equipment /facility. This building is old and the parking sucks. I paid the same price at 24hr fitness in California that offered EVERYTHING and was twice as big. In my opinion I believe the owner is taking advantage of the Military base knowing Marines who live off base wouldn't want to travel all the way to base to workout. At the end of the day when you monopolize the area you can charge what you want. Sucks to suck

It's a decent gym, though that's exactly the problem. You're paying 60$ a month to use this gym. There is nothing here that is worth that price as well as you will lock yourself into a 12 month contract which isn't cancellable unless you have military orders or a medical document saying you can't use this gym, even then there's a good chance your papers aren't even good enough to cancel the contract. That's how serious this gym is about their contract. if you do start using this location, there isn't even a sauna here and the equipment is almost the exact same as the many other on base gyms (Wallace Creek, courthouse bay, Tarawa terrace) which are free and a lot closer than this one. The only reason you would want to use this gym is if you can't stand how busy the other ones are and you like using up your gas. Otherwise it's a useless gym and is pretty much just another Jacksonville cash grab made so they can rope marines in to signing yet another contract.

They act like an insurance company when trying to cancel your membership, requesting intrusive information as "reasons" for canceling. Also, they obviously liked to play games along the way. Trying to cancel with them became a game of cross examination not at all forth coming with their cancelation policies. The saying "you don't really know someone until you break up/divorce with them" is very true of this place at first very nice and friendly but now couldn't be more unethical with their conduct. If you go here and never plan to leave that'll work however if you plan on moving away at some point or leaving, be prepared for some games.

From the moment I stepped into the door I felt very welcome. Brenda was very kind and showed me around. She also didn't hesitate to help me when I seemed a bit lost as a newbie in this gym. They have all the equipment you need, protein snacks and drinks to purchase and a small merch area. I just wish the open space was a bit bigger for my timed crossfit workouts. Good gym facility with a great price. However if you are a parent trying to utilize the gym daycare you might want to consider a different gym. Little kids require eyes on attention at all times ,which the kid club workers fail in here fail to provide. They are unable to resolve conflict in between children that is very normal with toddlers that are still learning their social skills. The gym owner will simply have you leave the gym since their worker fail to provide attention and/or know how to redirect children that are fighting over a toy or any appropriate circumstance. Maybe some training on early child development would mitigate this issue from their caregivers.

If you’re looking for a good gym in the Jacksonville area, this is the best one. It has everything you need and then some. I’ve been to toooons of gyms across the country and this Gold’s Gym is by far my favorite. Aside from having everything I need, it has ENOUGH of everything that I rarely ever have to wait for anyone to finish their sets (I go in the morning). The main thing that sets this gym apart though is the owner. He’s the only owner I’ve ever met who actively engages with all of his patrons. There is a large variety of equipment, the other gym-goers are respectful, and the owner and his staff are always very friendly. The vibe is that of a bodybuilding gym, minus the ego. I've felt welcomed as a newbie lifter and have a great experience every time I go.

Brenda has been amazing ever since I first started coming to Gold’s. She is super helpful and has made my experience at Gold’s gym great. If you are looking for a honest, and trustworthy staff member, ask for Brenda.

Also, the community here is great. I’ve lost multiple items in the past and the members always turn them into the lost and found. So grateful for that.

I’ve been a member of Golds Gym for 3 years now. Sadly I’m moving and this Iron Paradise will be the one thing I miss about the Jacksonville area. Felt a little abrasive and salesy when I first walked in and started with Danny. He did a great job of getting to know me, my wants and needs in a gym and helping me feel comfortable at his Gym. Lots of fit people very busy gym it was easy for me to see and feel the difference at Golds vs the other gyms I have tried out in Jacksonville. When it came down to it he made it easy for me to buy and sign up, him along with his staff always greeted me by name and even put on fun and encouraging challenges for all members to take part in. If your looking to pick a gym in Jacksonville Golds is the best there is.

I love coming to this gym! It has everything I’m looking for. When I first walk in the door I am warmly greeted by Brenda who has such great energy. The workout classes have been a game changer for me especially Andreas classes. Andrea is also an excellent trainer who I’ve loved working with. The staff is always professional, courteous, and helpful, especially when Brenda is at work greeting everyone as they come in and out!

I have been a Gold's Gym member in Jacksonville, NC for twenty-two years now. I can tell you firsthand that Danny and his staff do an amazing job of taking care of the members. You will see one of the best smiles in town when Brenda greets you upon entry to the facility. Gold's has a very supportive environment, which helps to promote a better exercise experience.

The equipment is top-notch and well-maintained. I like the availability of some great machine and cable systems, but the free-weights and associated equipment are fantastic. If you are interested in classes for activities like yoga, they have those available too.

There is a simple reason why I have stayed so long with Gold's Gym - it is because there is no better solution in the local area to take care such a wide breath of exercise needs. I would encourage you to check it out to at least take a tour with one of the staff members.

LOVE this gym! Brenda has been nothing but encouraging and welcoming since the first day I stepped foot through the door for a tour. She is the reason why I returned the following week to sign up. The morning crew.. 8-10am is truly amazing. I’ve been attending Gold’s for 7 weeks now and I have zero complaints! The gym is clean. The staff and the gym goers are friendly and most importantly encouraging and are happy to help you when you have questions. The price of child care is reasonable and I feel comfortable leaving my daughter there when needed (the children are safe behind locked doors). Don’t let the ‘horror’ stories you hear about gyms hold you back from your goals. Also, we need more Brenda’s in this world ☺️
