Disappointing Experience and Serious Safety Concerns

During my recent visits, I encountered multiple issues that significantly impacted the gym experience:

- Damaged equipment: Many weights, dumbbells, waist belts, and other machines are either broken or in dis rubber coatings, and some benches have torn padding haphazardly stapled—one of which caused a finger injury due to exposed metal.
- Unhygienic conditions: The locker room consistently emits a strong odor, and restrooms lack basic hygiene—missing toilet paper and unclean fixtures.
- Inaccurate weight measurements: Several 45 lb weight plates appear unbalanced, making them unsafe for serious training. Dangerous.
- Smoking in the facility: It is concerning to see individuals smoking indoors without any intervention from the management.
People smoking Marijuana in locker rooms.
- Lack of professionalism and supervision: Despite posted rules, staff rarely enforce them. Children—some under 10 years old—are often seen running through workout areas unsupervised, disrupting workouts and creating hazards.

Recommendation: For anyone prioritizing safety, cleanliness, and a respectful environment, I would strongly recommend exploring a more professionally managed facility.

I’m recovering from having total knee replacement surgery on both of my legs 9 weeks ago and I was feeling very weak doing exercises and physical therapy. So I joined the Aquatic fitness center last Monday and I have been going to the pool every day since and it’s has helped tremendously doing exercises in the pool. The staff is very supportive and friendly!
I feel like I’m able to get my life back together now.

They really cut back hours alot since the covid pandemic and have not resorted back to precovid hours. That's a real disappointment for people that work and are trying to get their workout done after work, especially swimming. Weekend hours are cut short as well. I'm so sad.

The pool is so imbalanced, its stinks like strong chlorine due to all the combined chlorine in the pool (google it) and it starts burning your eyes before you get in.

They need to test the free and combined chlorine rather than just testing the total chlorine and non chlorine shock this pool to free the combined chlorine.

Its so imbalanced, don't open your eyes underwater cause you won't last 10 minutes before your eyes are burning and bloodshot (ph issue and chloromines/combined chlorine both cause this)

Not to mention the salty taste of the water, which is a TDS issue. As hard as I tried to keep my mouth closed the whole time, droplets of the salty tasting water still managed a way in.

They really need a CPO that actually knows what they are doing.
We really want to go and enjoy this pool but the poor maintenance makes it extremely difficult.

This gym has everything that I need and the staff is incredible! They're very friendly, professional and personable. They host very fun events and have amazing classes. There's something for everyone. I have been able to work on my physical and mental fitness and I have found some amazing friends. I'm very proud to be a GAFC member.

- All workout machines are really old.
- Hardware are loose on many equipments.
- No cleanliness. Dirty Mirrors all the time.

Suggestions:
- Recommend cleaning Mirror and other gym areas, instead of sitting there on the chairs and talking.
- Fix the machines as members are paying their monthly fees. They would expect some cleanliness and good (not broken) equipment's.

My children get swimming lessons here. I've only been a few times and each time I'm unimpressed with the staff. Usually the reception desk is always friendly but the life guards and swimming teachers have not been kid friendly. This gym is awesome. Pool, basketball court, and every piece of gym equipment I've ever wanted. The only thing I felt they were missing was a row machine but they even have that now. Staff is always very friendly. I do wish they offered more workout classes at different times so I could make it to them but they still deserve the 5 stars. I also found it unfortunate that although I'm a Greenville resident and a teacher, I did not qualify for their discount because I teach in a different county. If Greenville Aquatics sees this review and can help me get the discount it would be greatly appreciated. I promise the other counties aren't paying any better 😭😂

Went to see what i was working with to join them. I chose not to because they only have one Zumba instructor who's taken ill and they have no jacuzzi, no hot tub, and no therapeutic tub. Nothing for the kids to do. No kids equipment either. They have only 2 personal fitness trainers and she never returned my call. But she did text me the next day and the people were really kind. The facility was also clean and warm. It's just not what we're looking for as a family.

I hate the access cards they handout which is size of a credit card and unfortunately hard to mange instead of a something you can put in your car keys. I spoke to Dennis Vestal (Facility Manager) and will be cancelling the membership because they cannot do better with the access cards.
The facilities are average though I wish they could keep it cleaner . Never saw anyone test the pools for Ph level.

I dont enjoy gyms that much, but my family enjoys coming here fairly often for the pool and equipment. The basketball court is normally full of adults running around playing serious games, which makes it bad for kids or others who just want to throw the ball in the hoop. This, of course, isnt necessarily bad, it's just busy at most times. I'm a little biased because gyms turn me away to start with, but my family enjoys it so it's worth a try at least.

I moved here to Greenville, and was looking for a place to play pickleball. The Greenville Aquatics and Fitness Center was pretty much the only place in town to play, it's offered 5 days a week. They offer a reasonable 10 punch pickleball card, which I purchased first. I quickly found out what an awesome facility it was and became a member. A wonderful, friendly, and knowledgeable, staff, great class offerings, pool, etc. Pictured below, membership appreciation pickleball event, bring a free guest.
