This gym is a magical place! I visited the former location a couple of times but didn't start coming to this new location until this past June. I've only been able to come consistently once a week (sometimes fitting in a second class) and I have NEVER seen muscle gains this quickly! It must be how they switch up the workouts often so I'm never bored and constantly challenging my body, along with their genuine focus on rest between sets.

The vibe is so positive and welcoming — it's clear that owners Jake and Megan have worked hard to cultivate a space for people of all abilities and skill levels. I've been able to take classes with most of the instructors and they're all great, though I'm usually in one of Jorge's Lift+ classes (amazing playlists and consistently positive vibes!).

I've been a competitive athlete for 33 years, with 26 of those including dedicated weight training (and have hopped around to a couple dozen gyms in Raleigh with my ClassPass account, so I've seen the best and the worst — and everything in between). Even with that much experience, I find myself learning new exercises/techniques each class. The instructors do a great job of correcting form in a way that doesn't feel condescending at all. They truly are there encouraging each student and available for modifications if needed, which are also built into their programs so it's intentional instead of an afterthought. Partnering up with others seemed a little scary at first (hello social anxiety!) but every one I've met so far is kind and easy to train with. I feel great after every class and leave with a huge smile. I highly recommend trying out a class here!

Heat offers high-impact, ultra-efficient workouts in a clean, convenient, judgement-free atmosphere. The gym's well-organized training sessions are creative and fun -- ideal for fitness-minded people at any level who don't have a ton of time. Megan and Jake have built one of Raleigh's best fitness studios!

Perfect workout every time. Jake and Meg know exactly what they’re doing. I hated the idea of joining a workout class. I always worked out on my own. But the program they put you on is designed to not only get results, but set you up for the next days workout. I never feel like I can’t do the lifts because of what I lifted the day before. The whole thing takes less than an hour. You get in, you work, you get out. Turn your brain off and just do what they tell you to do. You’ll see results fast if you make it part of your daily routine.

Absolutely love working with Jake virtually! From the very first session, he tailored my workouts to fit my goals, making me feel challenged and supported. The convenience of being able to train at my own gym without compromising on quality is a game-changer. The sessions are always engaging, and the feedback is spot-on, keeping me motivated and on track. I've already seen amazing progress, both in strength and confidence. Highly recommend if you're looking for a personalized, effective, and flexible fitness experience!

I’ve also been to heat for the group classes a few times and love the team environment they create!

Wish I could give this place 10 stars - Heat is such an amazing gym!!! I never worked out a day in my life before joining in Jan 2022... It is a "strength" gym but don't let that be intimidating (everyone has to start somewhere).... the trainers will thoroughly explain the movements before we begin, they continuously walk around the class to stop and chat, help with form or give modifications if you need it! It's "group classes" but you are always split up into partners or groups so you'll always have a buddy! Every class I've been in has such a wide variety of people - some have been athletes their whole lives and others that just started on their strength training journey. Yet everyone is so kind, willing to help and always rooting each other on!

I go to Heat to be strong and a badass! 💪🏻

I recently returned to working out at Heat after a 5 month break. I've been recovering from a bicycle crash. I completely missed this place and the people. Coming back to work out for the first time this week was scary for me. I wasn't sure how much strength I had lost and wondered if I would be able to handle the workouts. Jake greeted me and was excited I was back. He was super reassuring and supportive of my fears and checked in on me periodically during the class. His words were reassuring and motivating. Thanks for that Jake! These past two days of classes have really inspired me to make working out a habit again!

Jake is amazing! He can work with all levels of skillset, levels of health and all ages. He’s been amazing with my husband, who is athletic and has worked out consistently for 50 years, and my husband says he’s seen progress with Jake he didn’t know he needed. I need a lot of patience and guidance and I enjoy being pushed to my next level of strength building, and Jake’s knowledge of human physiology and his ability to personalize to each of us specifically shows how much he really understands the wisest and most effective ways to workout. His ability to adapt to each our needs based on our abilities or even injuries we may have allows us to build our strength faster than any other workouts we’ve done.

Heat is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. Jake and Meg are two of the best people I know and their gym is like no other. The workouts are challenging, yet accessible, and each instructor is right there to help with form or a modification if necessary. Specific shoutout to Holden for always making sure the 6 and 7 am heatletes are doing the right moves while we’re half asleep!

The community, however, is my favorite part. I’ve made dear friends at Heat and have done wonderful things with them from attending holiday parties to going to the beach. The Heat community has been there for me every step of my journey- during my wedding prep, pregnancy, and now during my post-partum recovery. The gratitude I have for this place and these people is overflowing!

If you’re looking for a place to be accepted for who you are, make new friends and challenge yourself wherever you’re at in your fitness journey, you can’t go wrong with joining us at Heat!

I’ve been coming to Heat for a year and a half. All the coaches are so knowledgeable and focus on you doing the movements correctly to gain strength. It’s been so exciting to see myself getting stronger in movements. My favorite classes are test days when we get to see how our hard work pays off at the end of 6-8 week programs. Not only does Heat offer great fitness classes, but they also offer Nutritional coaching. I’ve been working with Jensen for 6 months now and I’ve met so many of my goals, but the most impactful is how I have changed my relationship with food for the better. Thanks Heat Team!!

I love Heat! I’ve been a member about 3.5 years now. The coaches are really great at reviewing the exercises, providing appropriate weight ranges to get a good workout but not overdo it, and making sure proper body mechanics are used.
Workouts are usually done paired up with a partner or two but if you’re new don’t worry! You’ll get paired up with someone that will help you out if needed. And you don’t have to be at the same strength or skill level with them.

The community is also really wonderful. Everyone is friendly and supportive. Great place to meet new friends and/or get a quality, fun workout!

Heat has become one of my favorite parts of living in Raleigh since I started attending a year and a half ago. Their group classes are as close to personal training as you can get in a group setting, with dedicated instructors who prioritize teaching proper exercise techniques and providing individualized assistance. I was recently traveling every week for work and couldn’t attend in person, so Jake worked with me to create a personalized workout plan suited for hotel gyms. Heat goes above and beyond for its members & I'm so grateful for this gym and its community!

There is truly no other gym in Raleigh that is in this class of fitness! Jake and Meg and the entire HEAT family of coaches and trainers are top notch. They truly care about your fitness and watching you succeed and celebrating your wins! Jake's skill at programming is well thought out for performance, progression, moving well in your body and increasing function of your body - he truly listens and watches and coaches each person to their peak experience. It is truly a gift! I always leave feeling better and more invigorated than when I walked in.

The other thing that is quite inspiring is the community of people who come to classes. Everyone cheers you on and celebrates and works hard together. It is a truly an experience like no other. And the best part is that you get to keep your results!!! Thanks HEAT for keeping the fun in strength training, teaching safe technique and bringing the spice!

Joining Heat when I first moved to Raleigh is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I moved to Raleigh in 2019 and decided to give Heat a try for a few weeks. Honestly I had never done any kind of group workout class and I was skeptical I would enjoy it. And now here we are almost 4 years later. I have never met a group of instructors more dedicated to helping you meet your fitness goals in a sustainable way and making it enjoyable in the process. Jake, Megan, and co. bring energy to EVERY session, giving you the energy to get a great workout in every time. On top of that, they are friendly, accessible, and make you feel welcome from day one. I tried out a TON of gyms in Raleigh and was getting really tired of the constant moderate intensity at F45. I wanted something more challenging! What I really love about Heat is that the workouts aren't just aimed at burning as many calories as possible. Most gyms I've been to are focused on expending as much energy as possible vs building muscle and strength. At heat the exercises are designed to help you see progress, with heavier weights, less reps, and necessary rest time. You are challenged to pick up heavier weights than you think you can vs doing the same movement over and over again and exhausting yourself. I love it!!

My husband and I just started here, but we already feel very welcomed and enjoy the workouts. You can tailor them to your fitness/energy level while still being a challenging class. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Megan is very helpful and supportive. The space is so nice, wooden floors with large windows allowing for natural light to flood the space, and access to the outdoors during workouts when possible. The Playlists are current, upbeat and help keep the class going. We've really enjoyed it so far and look forward to continuing classes here.

I’ve been a member for over 5 years and truly love this gym! Meg and Jake care so much about the community they’ve built and put in the work to establish a great group of trainers to work alongside them.

Jake gets to know his clients’ abilities so that he can make spot-on recommendations for strength training. Jake’s programming is intentional and effective. The 6-8 week programs help you to set and meet or exceed goals, which is always an impressive progression to watch!

When I first started classes at Heat, Meg taught me I’m much stronger than I think which made a huge difference in my confidence and approach to strength training over the years.

I also attended classes throughout two pregnancies and all of the trainers were helpful in suggesting modifications as needed.

Most importantly, the Heat team has helped me build a solid foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

I've been going to Heat since summer of 2022 and can say that it's the best workout regimen I've ever participated in. I'm 47 years old and probably in the best shape of my life. Until Heat, I did not do classes, preferring solo strength training and heavy cardio (10Ks, lap swimming) instead. Heat forced me to diversify my strength training to other areas of my body which I had been neglecting (core, legs, back). I think the trick which Heat somehow pulls off is (a) creating a family atmosphere with moderate-sized classes while still providing 1:1 attention to detail, and (b) really understanding and teaching technique. For example, for the first time in my life I can deadlift 300 lbs. without injuring my lower back. All the instructors are fantastic. Truly a Raleigh gem.

100/10 would recommend - if you’re nervous about joining a gym because you’re out of shape, going by yourself, you don’t know how to properly strength train…go to heat! This place feels like it’s a hidden gym 💎😉 in downtown Raleigh. Jake and his trainers do a really great job showing you how to do the movements safely and effectively. It’s a small class so they are walking around checking on each and every person ready to help and coach. The community is welcoming and laid back- whether you want to make a new friend or get in and get your workout done in peace.

My sister and I decided to get a head start on our fitness goals for the new year and did the 2 week trial. More than worth it!!! My wife and I live in Salt Lake City, UT and are both very active - both in and out of the gym (with other recreational hobbies). We now have family living in North Carolina so in an effort to remain active while away from home we recently sought out a few good gyms in the Raleigh area to ‘catch a workout’.

I must say we’ve tried a number of traditional and non-traditional places but have now gone to Heat Studios over 5X and it’s been amazing! Actually, it’s now become something we both really look forward to during each vacation. If we lived in Raleigh we would HANDS DOWN be attending this gym regularly.

The people, the coaches (and I think owners), set a VIBE that is so welcoming and fun. Most importantly though, the workouts are really productive. It’s a pretty solid team effort when you’re in there and that’s what we enjoy. I’m not a ‘classes’ kind of guy but I’ll do HEAT classes all day.

Definitely recommend if you’re in town on business or vacation and/or local to Raleigh and haven’t been yet.

As a former collegiate athlete I was a little unsure of the “group fitness” workouts. I did not think that I would be pushed, or get the workout that I would on my own. After experiencing my first heat class; I learned that I actually felt like I was training with a team again….Great workouts and everyone pushed each other. I walked in for my second class and I was already called by my name, like I had been going there for years. You never feel like an outsider. It is very evident that Jake, Meg, and the rest of the trainers have a real passion for what they do.

I've been part of the Heat community for almost two years! For a person that likes to jump around to different fitness studios, this is HUGE. I usually try a place for a couple of months, get bored, and then try a new one. Because of the programming, community, and trainers, I have never gotten bored or burnt out at this gym. I feel like a lot of fitness studios want you to burn the most calories every single time (leading to burnout), but that's not the case with this gym. This type of programming has really repaired my relationship with exercise - reminding me that in order to get stronger and feel better, I need to prioritize rest days, as well. I love that.

Additionally, I feel like I finally found the gym community that I was always looking for. Jake and Meg treat me so incredibly well, and I have made SO many friends through Heat. Whenever I consider moving to a new state, Heat is always the number one reason why I don't want to leave. Maybe that sounds dramatic to say that about a gym, but that's the point - it's become so much more than that.

I first came across Heat in 2017 when there was a Yelp event there. I actually loved the workout and signed up for a class package which I of course never used because I'm lazy and would just rather eat ice cream at Two Roosters than bother to go to the gym.

Fast forward to 2022 and I've actually gotten a lot more active since 2017 so I decide to give this whole gym thing another try. I love doing outdoor cardio stuff like biking, hiking, running etc... but strength training has always kind of intimidated me just because I've never done it. Heat has made it really easy to jump into it without making me look like a total idiot at a regular gym.

There's really only two classes - Heat Strength on Mon/Wed/Fri and the regular Heat class on the other days that is more cardio/HIIT focused. The typical class involves some stretching/warm-up exercises, a few stations/circuits and then a finisher. Also most of the classes are partner/group based, which makes it easy for people to meet each other and develop familiar faces they see at classes.

I've taken classes so far with Jake, Jena, Megan and Sara Ray and everybody has made the classes really fun (Jena is the most energetic person I've ever met for morning classes) and easy to jump into whether you're a beginner or experienced. I probably wouldn't have noticed that I just spent an hour there if I wasn't all sweaty at the end of it. Definitely have enjoyed adding a class or two each week to my fitness routine and would recommend to anyone in the downtown area.

I can't say enough good things about this place! If you need a gym in the Raleigh area, don't look any further. I have been a member for over 5 years and I only get stronger the longer I go. The owners Megan and Jake get to know everyone there and take an interest in you and what you need from a workout (will always offer modifications). Their fitness program is top notch - not just a bunch of running on cardio machines but instead teaching you how to lift weights and when to increase your reps and amount of weight. It truly feels like a community and I've made lifelong friends there. There is no better gym around - I would replicate this place in every city if I could!

Heat is the best gym and fitness community I have ever been a part of.

Facilities/Class Format: Heat has everything you could possibly need while simultaneously optimizing their space to give each member room to work. Classes start with a quick stretching warm up and jog. Then you partner up and alternate exercises at several stations. Depending on the day of the week, the focus is either strength (MWF) or Cardio/HIIT (TThSSu). Every 8 weeks, there is a focus exercise that the workouts are built around. For example, we recently completed a deadlift program where we did both deadlifts and ancillary exercises designed to increase your deadlift. Also, free parking in downtown Raleigh??? Unheard of.

Community: The prior finesses levels of Heat members are incredibly broad. On one end, there are former D1 college and professional athletes. On the other, you have people who have never been to a gym. After a Thursday HIIT class, everyone – regardless of prior fitness level - is a puddle on the ground.

Also, gym friends = real friends. After a few weeks, you’ll want to come just to see people you’ve met. A great way to stay accountable.

Results/Value: In general, consistency + effort = improvement. Prior to Heat, I exercised at a free weight gym; where I would show up, use some random machines, and go home. While I worked hard and was consistent, I didn’t see the results I wanted to. I realized I was missing DIRECTION. Direction is the unique value of Heat. The intelligent programming by people who live, eat, breath fitness has proven critical to my progress. Heat made me realize consistency + effort + DIRECTION = results.

While analogies and anecdote evidences can be useful, empirical results are what really matter; right? I have been a member for 389 days where I attended 236 classes. Here are a few before and after metrics (all PRs):

Deadlift: 200 lbs -> 350 lbs (75% increase)
Bodyweight Pull Ups: 4 -> 15 (275% increase)
Weighted Push Up: +30 lbs -> +100 lbs (233% increase)
Dips: 10 -> 30 (200% increase)

Proof is in the pudding my friends.

The Team: Meg, Jake, Holden, Sara Ray, Jena and Brandon are all experts in their own right. What’s better is they are all good people and are immensely invested in your progress.

10/10 would recommend!

workouts are challenging, fun, and the time goes by fast. High energy and experienced staff, a lot of individual attention despite it being group classes, music is on point. And as an ice breaker: because most days are partner workouts, you end up personally knowing everyone in class in a few short weeks.

My wife and I have been going to Heat for nearly 3 years. Jake makes the workouts unique, challenging, and they have made us both better athletes. The crew brings a ton of energy to every class and provides almost as much instruction as you would get from a personal training session. We've utilized the nutrition consulting, personal training, and group classes. I highly recommend to anyone exploring fitness for the first time and those of you already dedicated to fitness.

Hands down the most effective fitness studio in Raleigh. The trainers are extremely educated and always make it a priority to make you feel like you're in a personal training class, even in a group setting. Through their techniques I've gotten stronger than I ever thought possible and had fun while doing it. They put a big focus on building a sense of community, which has been a big part of the reason why I've kept my membership for so long. If you want to get stronger, improve your fitness, learn proper techniques & increase your knowledge, and make friends while doing it, HEAT is the place to go. Thank you Jake and Megan!

DO NOT COME TO WORKOUT HERE IF:

🟣 You want QUANTITY repetitions over QUALITY form
🟣 You prefer working out solo/ no interaction or encouragement from others
🟣 You DON'T WANT to hear high energy and positive music
🟣 You DON'T LIKE mixing a little bit of cardio into your strength workout
🟣 You DON'T want to make new friends with some very positive people

🤩 hopefully at this point, you have read this review very carefully and understand that this is my feedback from the classes I have been to from current instructors there (Jake, Megan, Jenna and Brandon!)

I am 💯/💯 recommending this place. Not only do you get top of the line coaching from a staff that cares about you and your fitness journey, you get COMMUNITY. You can join their book club, sign up for volunteering efforts on the weekends, travel together AKA "workout abroad" (when COVID is over, of course) other assorted hang outs outside of working out, all while getting fitter and more confident!!!!

Truly....Heat Raleigh is the best bang for your buck, ESPECIALLY if you are working remote and need to find some community in Downtown Raleigh ❤️ 🤩🤩🤩 ❤️

I honestly think this is my favorite fitness studio I have ever been to, I was staying in Raleigh for a few weeks and had the opportunity to try some heat classes. I loved this place, it is the only studio I have ever been to that provides strength training classes that focuses on completion of heavy compound li;5 a with adequate rest time provided. Perfect for a somewhat out of shape, lacking motivation individual such as myself who has always been interested in weight training yet is easily intimidated in the weights section of the average gym. The crowd here is very social and friendly and so are the trainers. They seem extremely laid back yet helpful. I genuinely wish I lived in Raleigh just so I could continue working out at Heat lol.

I absolutely LOVE the entire Heat family, but I gotta give it to my main man Brandon!!!!! For the last 2 months, Brandon has been my personal trainer. I lost 7 lbs of fat, gained roughly 3 lbs of muscleand my BMI went down 2%. IN 2 MONTHS!!!! Aside from being a top notch trainer, Brandon is just an awesome dude. You can tell how much he cares about his clients. When we reviewed my progress today, you could see him absolutely beaming, even behind his mask. I first started coming to Heat in June of 2019. Before walking in the door, I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. After meeting with the trainers they recommended the strength classes for me. I was nervous that lifting weights might make me bulky, but learned quickly that is a myth. They started me out with the appropriate amount of weight, and I’ve slowly increased from my baseline over time. I can honestly say this is the best shape I’ve ever been in my life. I have more definition now and noticed results in as little as 6 weeks. The trainers are so helpful and watch you closely on form and technique. Not only has Heat helped me physically, but it has helped my confidence and develop me as a person. Best workout in town.

Been a member at Heat for years and I couldn’t ask for more from a gym. Heat is a super inclusive, technique focused gym that always makes me feel comfortable and pushes me to work hard and reach new personal goals along the way. I appreciate that Heat is focused on healthy movement with proper form rather than just busting out reps or compromising form and risking injury just to finish a set.

It’s easy to see that the trainers put so much effort into curating workouts that include continuity and variety, to keep progress apparent but also keep things interesting day to day. If you are considering a new gym and are looking for a community of people who want to lift you up, support you and hold you accountable- look no further. This gym is for you. Positive vibes abound at Heat.

Heat Strength and Hustle and Flow are my favorite classes. Both offer a very different look on what fitness classes can be. I appreciate being able to go in one day to focus on lifting then the next day to focus on cardio and restorative yoga.

This is more than just a gym. This is a community. This gym doubles as social hour and throws a pretty awesome party every now and then too. I love attending Heat because in addition to the physical benefits, I also get to surround myself with people who encourage me to be the best I can be and who support me in every way.

For years, I drove past Heat on Glenwood south and always wondered what it was all about. I was inspired by a friend who had found success there and I began with personal training, and I'm so glad I did! The community at heat is unlike anything I have ever found in a gym. It's a close-knit group that care about each others goals and lives alike. Since joining heat, I've lost 50+ lbs through group classes and personal nutrition coaching, and don't plan on stopping! This place has quite literally changed, and probably lengthened, my life! My workout routine in the past has always been running, yoga, and simple core exercises (re: I was not interested/scared of weights). I started going to the Hustle & Flow class at Heat on Fridays through ClassPass for the past year and a half and felt like it was comfortable place to learn how to incorporate strength training and HIIT activities into my routine (Melyssa is helpful, encouraging, and friendly, particularly to a newbie like me). Recently, I joined Heat full-time for 2 months before I moved, and I regret not joining full time earlier. Sure, it's likely more than you'd like to spend on a gym membership, but it is fun, challenging, and motivating. It's more like small group training with the one-on-one attention and help you receive from the trainers. I attended classes taught by Jake, Matt, Megan, Melyssa, and Jenna, and I learned so much from all of them. It was a bummer to move and not have something like this in my new city but wanted to post an honest review of my experience at Heat, which was awesome. Well-worth checking out if you want to incorporate a new workout routine or figure out a way to compliment your existing one.

It is a sad day when we have to miss a day of training. Even when we are not feeling like training, when we finish, we feel great. The atmosphere is great. With HEAT's trainer I've lost weight, gained muscle, healed old wounds and feel more fit than ever before. If you live near Glenwood South, you should try it.
