This YMCA location is my all-time favorite!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The facility is always clean, the equipment is well-maintained, and there’s a great variety of machines and spaces for whatever kind of workout you’re in the mood for. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which makes it feel more like a community than just a gym.

From the fitness areas to the classes and family-friendly vibe, this YMCA truly stands out. Highly recommend!

The place is run like a cult. Management is corrupt and make up and do what they want when they want. They let people who play pickleball do what they want and own the whole gym and treat Basketball players like second class citizens. I have has Mutiple items of my property stolen and damaged from 14-19 year olds stealing stuff from my bag and when I directly in person told management about it they didn't even write the kids names down. I was threatened to be kicked out when I brought up this topic 9 MONTHS later to the executive manager when she tried to pressure me to get off a basketball court for pickleball players during scheduled basketball time on their own Gym schedule.

Lots of people and they have limited space. If you’re not a family and looking for a gym then I’d recommend elsewhere. For families the child watch is great to get a workout done.

Need to add speed bumps to the parking lot though. Some people don’t understand there’s a lot of kids around and it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

Staff friendly, Life Guards are awesome. It can get crowded at times but I never have had problems getting onto workout equipment.
I spend up to two house here. No problems.

Love the wet area. Guards very helpful.

On my first week staff answered my questions.

Thank You!!

The customer service at this location is horrible. I only signed up for a membership because their website said they had racquetball. When I showed up they said they did not because it was removed. We decided to try the gym instead, the kids area had a wait list, the staff seemed uninterested in helping us, the gym was packed and this was all on a weekday morning. Not only this, but their membership cost is almost double what some of the other, much better facilities have in near by YMCAs. I didn’t cancel right away because we thought maybe we would try again another day. We did not. I called on April first to cancel my membership and get refunded for April since they charged me that morning. Not only did the person I talked to tell me that they couldn’t cancel the membership, when I emailed them that day to get the cancellation, I was told 8 days later that I would get charged for May since i had to give a 30 day notice. I notified them 31 days in advance both on the phone and in email.

This is unacceptable.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Brought my 3 small children here to the indoor pool and from the moment we walked in the door these so called life guards were already yelling at us to stop doing this and that. My children were behaving. Those “life guards” stared me down the entire time having something to say about our every move. I don’t need any 18 year old telling me to be within “arms reach” of my children in a public pool, when I’m in the water with them, and they have floaties on, in 2 feet of water! They proceed to tell me that I have to be in the 2 foot pool with them at all times (my kids are all in puddle jumpers) and that I could only supervise 2 of my children at a time because I might “get confused and not watch them” in the 3 foot pool. Complete assholes to tell me that I’m going to be “confused” while watching my own children. I had no distractions and am always watching my kids, so for these people to talk to me in this manner is horrible service and I will never be back to this location. My kids couldn’t even get on the water slide without passing their BS “swimming test”. If your life guards are worried about watching ” too many kids at once” then maybe it’s time to find a new job. This micromanaging managing place is a complete joke and I would have paid the extra money to go to a better indoor pool with my kids so we could actually enjoy it and not be disrespected the entire time. Next time we will go to a place that is accepting of children.

This location has people driving way to fast in parking lot. People trying to pickup kids and then flying thru parking lot and down road going to Morrison plantation. Someone is going to get hurt in parking lot because people driving don't stop at crosswalks for walkers. Also they let cars park at the door and leave cars unattended while they go in, which makes for a bottle neck trying to get into parking lot.

We walked into this YMCA after scheduling a tour the same day and was pleasantly surprised. My husband and I were greeted by Latesha O. and felt instantly at home. The facility has everything you could need and we got memberships the same day. Great experience as newcomers and friendly fantastic staff. 10/5 stars!

The facility is poorly managed and in bad shape. We had multiple issues with scheduling and reservations, so we decided to stop going. It’s been a massive hassle to cancel my membership and an awful experience. It’s so sad too. I grew up going to the Y. When I asked about canceling my membership, the staff was incompetent and gave me conflicting information about the process. I tried to cancel by phone, through the app, and in person. When I spoke with a person they said they would email me the forms to cancel, which never came. I finally found the cancellation form online, but it wasn't easy to locate.

You have to go to their Customer Support Hub first and then find the cancellation forms. By the end of this ordeal, they will have charged me for 3 additional months since I tried to leave the facility. Imagine having to spend that much time canceling a membership. I regret joining.

This is probably my favorite place in all of Mooresville.
The Ykids with Ms. Jan and especially Director Francine and Jess are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. I have paid for a membership for years, barely even use it. The one time I come to use the pool with my kids and they tell me it's closed because they have too many campers? That's ridiculous and poor customer service! Anyone who is a member should be able to use the pool and any of the other amenities at any time because as members, we pay for a membership. Lowe's YMCA came through in a clinch when no other gym in the area would. I needed a location to film some basketball drills, they gave me a time within 15 minutes when a spot was open and it was as simple as that. Kind. Professional. Helpful. Other gyms should take notes. Thanks D!

Unfortunately, Mooresvillle has outgrown our local YMCA. Most times a full court is taken by pickleball/volleyball/weight lifting classes, leaving only one available court. My son/I came to play basketball but were kicked off the only available court due to a full court game going on. This isn’t the first time & I’m sure will not be the last.

I've been a member on and off for a few years. I've worked out at quite a few Y's in the area including the Denver, Salisbury, China Grove, and University area locations. Lowe's is a very complete Y...except for one thing. The Men's Locker room is way too small for the size and popularity of this location. There should at least be a 2nd bench in there instead of a couple of chairs. If it weren't for the locker room I would have rated it 5 stars.

Since they had enough room to accommodate the farmers market, they really need to build another gymnasium. They deleted the racquetball space with a rehab center, and now pickleball has completely overtaken the gymnasium. My 12 year old kid has basically been shuffled off the gymnasium due to lack of space for pickleball and sports events. The population of Mooresville has doubled since the YMCA was built. Time to use that 30% dues hike over the same period to accommodate.

I’m not really sure why there are all these negative reviews. The place is clean, plenty of exercise equipment options, sauna, steam room, polite staff. Just having access to all this seems very reasonable to me for the cost. Yes sometimes it is crowded with teens. Yes I sometimes have to wait for weights I want to use. Yes the pool seems dedicated primarily to swim teams. Yes I do wish the weekend hours were earlier and later. But I’m thankful to have this in my community.

If you’re looking for a place that has a great pool where your kids can play and have fun, this is NOT it. The older, blonde, female life guard is absolutely horrible, constantly making kids of all ages cry. I wish she was the only mean one, but the life guards here have a reputation of making kids cry. I’ve tried to bring this to management’s attention but never any response. The life guards have no idea how to talk to kids and enforce rules while still keeping the environment happy and fun. They constantly have the slides closed. They will randomly close the pool down and won’t send out any notices online or through social media. You have to drive there only to find out there’s a closure notice on the locker room doors. The pool temp is often cold due to the heaters constantly breaking, they don’t notify you of this either. For $117 a month, they need to get it together. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if your main focus is the pool experience.

The Lowe's YMCA offers many programs for all ages.

The facility accommodates an indoor swimming pool with kid's area and steam room/sauna, clean men's & women's locker rooms, indoor track above the basketball courts, racquetball, spin classes, free-weights and machines for all work-outs - everything you need to workout. Also they have an outside track and numerous fields for sports, as well as indoor fitness and group exercise programs.

And they are engaged with many programs for the community with after-school care, summer camps, Y-Readers, Swim lessons, Bible Study, and team sports.

The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and helpful.

We had maybe an inch of snow yesterday evening. I was planning on going to the Y first thing this morning but thought I better check the web site as I’ve been burned before. Sure enough they delay the branch opening until 10 am. Give me a break. At least they posted the delay on the web site this time. They send emails to members about events all the time (got several about MLK) you would think they could inform members by email or text with weather delays and closings.
They run the branch more for the benefit of the employees rather than members.

My 12 year old daughter and I have had a membership for about a month now and attend on a regular basis. I don’t know why many people are complaining about the staff. Everyone I see or run into has been exceptionally nice and accommodating. There is ALWAYS someone at the front desk with a smile, ready to help. The place is always clean. The only time the locker rooms are gross is after a swim team where wrappers and food appear to be thrown on the floor, but that’s no fault of the Y’s. Also, I would recommend bringing your own basketball as all the basketballs at the Y need to be retired...severely.
I would have given 5 stars if there were staff to clean right after the swim team and new/usable basketballs were available. Maybe putting a sign up or not allowing food in the locker rooms would work too??

The pool, showers, and changing rooms are absolutely disgusting. The family restrooms are not cleaned properly. The shower curtain in one of them was off the hook and torn for months.

They should mandate that everyone take an antibacterial shower and antibacterial foot bath before entering the pool. They could put the showers and cleansers by the pool to make sure everyone is clean before entering.

They should require that ladies' hair be put in clips or bands because there is so much hair in that pool. You cannot swim for finding hair. There are always used bandaids lying around and the lifeguards rarely dispose of them. One lifeguard pushed an old bandaid in the pool then used the strainer to pick it up. People with open wounds should not enter the pool.

They bring in summer campers in the afternoon and there are too many kids in the pool, I would have thought it would be a safety issue. They are too boisterous and there is nowhere to swim.

Also they don't keep the slide open but for about fifteen minutes a few times a day. The one reason we joined was because of the water slide, but there is not much water coming down the slide. Also the fountain is not kept on. Keeping the fountain on would be a great way to keep the water clean.

I brought a guest today because he was interested in joining, but when he arrived the only person they said something to was him which made him feel really uncomfortable. When asked for name they couldn't find it in the system and was at this same YMCA 2 weeks ago. Instead of the front desk staff saying ok this is our fault we will consider this his first time being here they tell him we are counting this as your second time. Then to even make him more uncomfortable they ask him what is he going to be doing here this was a horrible experience for my guest and this kind of behavior out of the staff at this location happens all the time. We have visited and liked this YMCA. We use the Y about 90 percent for swimming. I see some people upset because others are upset because they feel the swim team is always using too much or all of the pool. I wanted to comment on that. Yes, we should all support our local athletic teams of all ages. With that being said, all people at the Y have to pay to go there so, all people should have equal access to the pool. We can't say that a person with a chronic illness who needs to do water exercise or for whatever reason is less important than swim team practice. This is a nice Y and we have been disappointed to see these comments. We will really have to do some thinking and have some serious discussion as a family as to whether or not to move our membership to this Y. We do use the pool for weight loss and health purposes, and it might be worth it to our family, as well as some of yours, to just drive a little farther to another facility. Or hopefully the Y staff will see these issues and resolve them.

This YMCA has a booked schedule for afternoon swimming. I have back problems and have became a member to swim and use the pool. Once 3:30pm hits swim teams flood the pool area. There is one lane in the cool pool and one lane in the warm pool available for members. The swim team instructors are rude and the lanes that are open are usually occupied with rude men who do not want to share a lane and swim for a long time. I have two sons. I like to go to the Y after school gets out at 3:30pm so that sons can play in the gym and I can swim. This YMCA's swim schedule is disabling my ability to swim and to be at the Y with my kids. I have been bothered by this for some time now. I would like to see this Y have a little more regard for their members instead of putting the swim team first. I don't really understand this especially since the members are the ones who are paying more to be there. Today I left without swimming because of the swim coaches negativity and the lanes being full. I waited for at least 30 minutes to see if anyone was getting out of the two lanes. For now I have picked up a schedule and realize that I will have to go to the YMCA alone during the day while my kids are in school just so I don't have to fight for a swim lane out of the two that are available in the afternoon. I am truly bothered by the rudeness and unprofessional swim team staff and the other male members who are not courteous to others. I thought the YMCA was founded on Christian principals but this location is starting to make me wonder. I also don't think that going to get a work out should not be stressful. So to anyone considering a membership to use the pool you need to check the schedule before you do that. The only way I see someone being able to work around the pool schedule is if you own your own business and set your own hours, are a 3rd shift worker, or are a stay at home parent. The pool schedule should not make things this way for the members.

great facility though the pool could be bigger. daycare program. someone will come and spot you if you seem to be having a tough time with something. WiFi for members. very clean.
if you worry about your kids safety at the YMCA of all places, do yourself a favor and keep them home so you can wipe their butt and brush their hair and baby them til they are all growed up into turds.

My son attends the Lowes YMCA preschool at Fairview. The director and teachers are all great. You can tell they love the kids. I feel very comfortable leaving my little one with them. He's always excited to go to school and see his friends and teachers.

“Although the facility is well equipped with machines and probably good instructors, it could stand an improvement in administrative people. And that is what makes a company successful... people with the vision to serve their local demographics with respect and empathy. As a senior, I have had problems with inflexibility, but still kept paying my $49.95 for many years. This year I was lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years with my family in CA, and before I left, I called to cancel my membership. They would not take a cancellation on the phone. I told them I'll call my bank to stop the $49.95 auto payment and sign whatever you need when I get back. I just got back from CA and found out they processed TWO payments of $50.95 when the bank refused $49.95. Previously they had also reneged on my prepaid personal trainer payments of several hundred $$ cause I missed deadlines (because of health issues) of which I was never informed. That is why I want to cancel my membership - I paid them for many years. They probably do a great job for younger people who don't need any help or guidance, but I know this community is full of retired people who could be coaxed out of their homes and would be a lot happier and healthier for that.
