First of all. I don't leave reviews unless you have really upset me. Our children were upset. Daughter crying and my son angry⦠Our experience at this community center was incredibly disappointing. From the start, the front desk lady was rude, dismissive, and clearly uncomfortable with children being there.
When I arrived to fill out my membership application, my nine- and six-year-old went into the dressing room to change, just like other families. They waited patiently with several other children while I finished my paperwork, which took longer since I was applying for a membership while the other moms were just getting day passes. The kids were calm and respectful β simply excited to swim.
We were told by staff that children under seven were allowed in the smaller therapy pool, even though itβs labeled βadults only,β which makes no sense. Since the swim team had taken most of the lanes, we let the younger kids play quietly in that smaller area. Which we had permission. They were gentle, quiet, and closely supervised.
Then suddenly, a staff member stormed out, yelling for everyone to get out of the therapy pool. I explained that we had been told it was okay and that weβd gladly move if anyone else needed it. She brushed me off, and moments later, the front desk lady came running out, pointing her finger, shouting that our accounts would be flagged, our applications put on hold, and that sheβd βthrow the handbookβ at us. She told us we needed to βparent our children,β even though the kids were calm and well-behaved. Because they touch the adult floaties which I told them to out back.
In the middle of all this, she also told my husband that βbeing a front desk worker is the hardest job.β My husband works with delinquents and criminals every day, so that comment said a lot about how out of touch she was.
By the end of this whole ordeal, she didnβt just ruin it for one family β she ruined it for three families who were all treated unfairly and disrespected. When we left, she told me my membership was declined because my daughter had βrunβ from the pool to the hot tub, something I immediately corrected at the time. Later, when my husband went back to speak with a manager, they refused to give him contact information.
After reading other reviews, itβs clear this isnβt an isolated issue. This place is not family-friendly, and the front desk staff go out of their way to make parents and children feel unwelcome. Itβs a shame, because it could be a wonderful community space if only the staff treated families with basic kindness.

Not kid friendly. When I say this, some might assume itβs absurd that a Christian organization is getting a review such as this. I can assure you they are rude, impatient and will threaten to flag or revoke your membership if a kid acts like a kid. Go to the YMCA as they are much more accommodating and family oriented. Sad that this organization is so close to where we live and is run by rude and unprofessional staff. At least the ones we interacted with at the front desk.

I enjoy going there, but it is pricey for seniors, as they don't have a plan such as silver sneakers, etc. that insurance will cover. Also, they turned my friend away even with a supposedly free pass from another member. Also they were very rude to her.

All facilities are very well kept. Equipment is usually decent. The only con is that there are very nervous and timid kids that work there which can be difficult when they are the only employees you can find.

Feb 16, 2025-This is the place to be for the annual Frostbite run. The hosts are spectacular. This event always inspires my desire to Live Longer, because I see/meet guys in their 70's and 80's running the course. The phrase; 'That's gonna be me' enlivens my heart β€οΈ
I love the annual Frostbite races, where everyone is included (10K, 5K, and 1mile). The hosts treat us runners like members of the extended family πβ€οΈπ
I returned in 2024 for the Frostbite 5K, it's a community event; I witnessed a senior couple sprinting across the finish line while holding hands. This neighborhood might consider petitioning to be called a Blue Zone for longevity.π

Once again made a simple phone call to ask a question and was dealt with poorly. If it wasnβt for the amenities offered and left alone to the customer service, not one single person would come to this establishment. As a Christian this place is a poor representation of what we are to be as the church. We have three small children and are always treated as an annoyance although our babies are polite and respectful. We will not return until there is new management, which is unfortunate this place was my favorite as a child.

Don't go here if you are below the age of 55.
My husband and I, both in our mid thirties, have looked for a gym in this area where we could swim laps and work out. This gym has a wonderful fitness center and pool so we came in to test it out for a day. We changed into our suits and headed to the pool to swim a few laps when I was approached by a woman saying that I couldn't wear my suit because it showed my midriff. For context, I was wearing a TYR competitive 2 piece swimsuit designed for lap swimming because I don't fit into one piece suits (my torso is very long and I'm very thin. I've looked for years and never found one that works, happy to take suggestions if anyone knows of any.)
Meanwhile, just 10 feet away, an older woman was swimming in a two piece with her midriff showing and wasn't ever spoken to. She was older, I am younger... Can't help but feel this policy was only enforced because I am l young and in shape and the gym was full of older members. I understand this is a Christian facility, but what I did not understand that this means shaming younger women for wearing a swimsuit that would be considered conservative anywhere else. We'll continue looking elsewhere.

Love the place. Immaculately clean, friendly staff, well-maintained. Place is never too crowded. Only drawback is that it's closed on Sautuday ( they're Seventh Day Adventist), but I have no problem with that.

Not just a gym, it also has three pools (lap, therapy, jaccuzi) and an indoor walking track if the weather is poor. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Could benefit from some additional classes (they do have personal trainers and group fitness classes, etc.) and they do have childcare available for members. There is an expansion in the works with an outdoor fitness pavilion, family friendly play zone with additional pickleball and basketball courts, a splash pad, a professionally designed 18-hole wooded disc golf course, and walking trails. Also, AdventHealth just opened a sports medicine and PT practice literally in the same building, which is handy for those recovering from an injury or surgery.

The LPC is a great place. The staff is polite and consistent. The pool is fabulous and not crowded. The hot tub is huge and not too hot. The indoor walking track is pleasant and allows the walkers to watch the activities on the basketball, pickleball, volleyball courts and the rehearsals of Fletcher Academy's gymnastics team. The workout room has a nice representation of equipment and several treadmills with TVs in close proximity.

Edit: before Covid and new manager this was a nice place with friendly staff. Reopening after covid, communication has been very poor about the workout room reopening. There was some vague communication about the swimming area reopening, but with limited availability and adding family swim it was hardly worth it. I tried to cancel membership, but they refused to do so over the phone, I have to go in person to sign something. And they require a 30 day notice to cancel membership, even after your contract has been met, which I think is a bit ridiculous.
Very clean, comfortable, low key gym.

This is a great place for exercising. There is a cardio room with weight machines and some free weights. There is a large gym for basketball... An inside walking track. The aquatic center has an Olympic pool, therapy pool and whirlpool. They have daycare for children while you work out. Best of all, there is a christian family atmosphere. You can work out without being bothered

I love LPC Fitness Center. My massage therapist told me about their pools. Why else do I love it? 1) Clean. 2) Feels like a family. 3) Classes: TRX, Indoor cycling, Tabata, Zumba, Muscle Pump, Yoga, Pilates (list goes on) and three gorgeous pools (one is a large stone hot tub). I have been a member since 2010 and now love it so much, I decided to volunteer, get certified and lead some classes. If you're traveling and want a health environment (with an instant group of friends), visit. If you're living here and want support to get and stay healthy, visit. You will find no other gym like LPC in WNC.

Very Dissatisfied! We purchased a year membership because our son needs a warm water therapy pool because he has Juvenile RA. Every time we go they fuss about him being in that pool. We told them when we signed up why we needed to go. We call most of the time to make sure the post is available and every time someone is rude. Our son also has Autism and he doesn't understand why people are being rude. It only takes a second to be nice and even less time to be honest.

If I had a gym membership, these guys are the most convenient to my location, and they offer"enough" to make me interested, but they charge a little too much for that they have to offer.
The hours aren't necessarily 100% convenient either.
