Came to train for my upcoming swim qual, and was pleasantly surprised by an impromptu coaching session by Will, one of the lifeguards. Super helpful and friendly, and helped me make solid progress! The facility itself is large, clean, and well stocked with whatever equipment you might need. 👍

Just left the pool and I can’t express enough how much lucky I am that Will was the life guard on duty today! I asked him a simple question and he jumped in the pool gave me some tips and feels and really helped me understand how to do a proper breaststroke! I highly recommend this pool and if Will is around he will go above and beyond to help out.

The pool is only 4ft and is great for recreational sports and perfect for your little ones. They have enclosed sections for laps too. Also handicapped accessibility pool.

MCCS needs to standardize the equipment they have from facility to facility. They have no heavy sand bags, no room to do zercher carries, no SkiERG ski machines, KBs only go up to 55#, large med balls only go up to 14#.

This facility could be so good, but just like so many other MC Fitness facilities, it lacks so much essential equipment.
You can’t even complete the USMC HITT workouts here. That should be the STANDARD for every gym on every base.

Decent amount of equipment. Clean. Volleyball net outside. Has a pool. I'm told it gets very busy here but I wouldn't know because I can't really work out here due to no cell service to stream music and their wifi doesn't load for me (error message). I refuse to work out to the music in the gym. Yes, music is that vital to my work out! Please fix the wifi! Until then, I'll go to Camp Geiger.

What I love most about new river gym is the surrounding atmosphere and trails. I can run the trails or walk the calm trails around the gym. It’s always clean and besides lunch time, the gym is never too crowded. By far my favorite on base gym. I highly recommend.

Environment. Bunch of boot Marines too focused on flexing than on actual proper lifting. The staff seemed laid back. Masks are enforced so thats good i guess. It gets crowded at times.

Equipment: it has all you need, Equipment is pretty cleaned. Cardio area is nice. They do need to reorganize the machines a little bit better.

Pool: its currently closed without an estimated timeline; id give it 5 star if they had posted a timeframe.

Overall: good place, better than Wallace Creek in my opinion. True definition of bigger isn't always better.

Great place for a workout, pool is very nice and water is warm, workout area is good though a little small. Before/After COVID the other amenities like the climbing walls and courts are great for variation in workouts. Unit PT can be set up at the pool as well which is great for breaking up the same old PT.

The gym weight/ cardio area is a little small and can get very crowded weekdays around 530 and weekends around 1200. The bathroom is always clean and the sauna stays hot and doesn’t keep an oder 😀. There are only two stair masters and a few ellipticals. The pool area is nice as well as the rock climbing room. Over all a very nice gym with friendly employees.

Clean gym, nice pool and changing areas with sauna. The only reason for a 3 not 5 star is the front desk staff and lifeguard staff. The front desk staff are usually talking and not helpful to people standing at the desk for help and the lifeguards aren't knowledgeable about the programs and don't seem to be too focused on watching the swimmers. One of them was talking to someone in the pool the whole time were were there and I was just praying we didn't need him.
