I thought I would share my experience at Movement. I enrolled my daughter back in September 2023 and I joined a month later to try it for myself and to encourage my daughter. The experience was overall good, however it fell a bit short of what I expected from a Martial Arts school.

While we both had fun and met some very nice people including the instructor, I decided to cancel after about 9 months as I was just not seeing a real value in the martial arts aspect of this school. Bear in mind I make this opinion as someone who trained in Jiu-jitsu for several years and understands self-defense.

Pros:
Children learn valuable skills such as memorization, coordination, respect for the instructors and adults, team work, and courtesy. The instructor is patient and works with the kids to help them achieve the next belt level which is usually not judged very strictly. They will make friends, have fun and learn to stay fit.

Their child day care, summer camp, and parent's nights out events, are very competitively priced and are probably the most affordable I have seen around. This is a very good alternative for working parents.

Cons:
You advance belt levels quite rapidly in the program, but do not actually learn self-defense techniques that would be useful in real life situations. There are so many black belt children under age 14 with some even under 10. Some of these child black belts could not even tie their belts properly or kick correctly (in a martial arts that is based largely on kicking). πŸ€”

There is a $60 fee for every belt test which in my opinion may be the primary driver for having kids advance so rapidly within the program. That said, I understand it's a business and it needs to stay profitable to survive. I personally witnessed how the younger child participants were assisted with their board breaking during belt testing by the person holding the board. They bend the board inward as the participant kicks or punches it therefore allowing it to break with ease. My daughter noticed this on her second board breaking and was a little upset since she realized she didn't actually break the board herself.

There are very few adults or teenagers over age 14 at this dojo. It is mostly children and even toddlers. So if you are an adult and want to learn self-defense that will be useful in real life situations I recommend Judo, Jiu-jitsu, Kick Boxing, or Muay Thai.

In the 9 months we were at Movement, we did not witness nor participate in any tournaments where a student could earn a trophy. We did not compete against any other Dojos. I think this is very important for motivation and reward since it shows the participants the fruit of their lessons.

Lastly, be aware that there will be a substantial cancellation fee of roughly 162 dollars which I was recently surprised and not very happy to learn about. Again I understand it's a business and it needs to be profitable to remain operational. Just keep that in mind when and if you decide to join.

In summary, while it's a good start for small children to learn valuable skills like respect, discipline, and memorization. It is not a place to learn self-defense that could be useful in real life situations, especially if you are an adult. I recommend you Google the term "Mc Dojo" and you will get a better idea of what to expect at Movement.

Extremely disappointed in the owner of Movement Family Martial Arts. Both my boys attended his class for well over a year. We have never missed a payment and always paid on time. I wanted to try something more hands-on for my boys to see how they liked it and asked to cancel our membership for now. I explained that paying for both classes is not financially possible, or we would and may come back following months. I was still charged the following month IN FULL. When I contacted owner, he told me there was nothing he could do. I asked to please make any kind of exception, but he refused. We will definitely never return to his business, nor refer it. Terrible way to conduct business and great way to ensure customers do not return. I highly recommend going elsewhere.

I have been going to Movement with my family for years and as a students for about 6 months. Movement instructors are professional and willing to lend a hand if you aren’t grasping a technique. Several other physics fitness options are such as Kickboxing & yoga. These things while important are not what makes Movement stand out in my mind. Master Majesky strongly promotes a family atmosphere, not just all families but creating our larger Movement family and that is what keeps me going back!

We are proud to be part of the Movement family! My son and I are working our way through the color belts and it’s awesome to be able to learn Tae Kwon Do together. My daughter is in the Little Ninjas program and it is perfect for preschoolers getting ready for TKD. Thank you Master Majesky and Leah for making us feel like family!

The experience we have had with Movement has been top notch. He has been super patient and encouraging to my daughter, and she loves it. She is developing discipline and learning how to defend herself and I couldn't be happier. I would absolutely recommend Movement.

We’ve really enjoyed MFMA. Master Majesty cares about his students and their families. Recently after answering a feedback survey Matt reached out to find solutions to help with questions and work with our family.
Movement is very open to finding ways to help students achieve their goals and working with schedules that allow them to get to class.
We are so happy we found this studio!

"My child, who is 7 and new to martial arts, attended their first Tae Kwon Do class at Movement Family Martial arts. The instructor was friendly and encouraging, making the kids feel comfortable and excited to learn. They focused on basic stances and kicks, and my child left feeling proud and enthusiastic. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’re looking forward to more classes. Highly recommend!"

We needed a last minute summer camp for the month of August and Movement came highly recommended by a neighbor. It was the best price by far of any other summer camp around and is very conveniently located for us. My kids absolutely loved it there! They had so much fun and learned many wonderful skills. I even noticed my son being more polite around the house. Once summer camp was over, my kids begged me to let them go to their after school. I only needed one day a week for after school so I chose their 2 day/week program. They have learned so much while there and really enjoy it! We have to leave early due to unforeseen circumstances and we’re all bummed about it. However, we’ll still be coming for teacher workdays and camp next summer!

I took my two kids here ages 8 and 5 for a special demonstration and they had the best time with Master Majesky. Wish we lived in the area and could join full time. My children have been talking about it for months.

Master Majesky and incredible. Our son took their Little Ninjas class and is now a Gren belt in the kids class. He has grown so much over the last 3 years of classes. He is so much more confident, disciplined, better with his words with peers and has learned to believe in himself. It's amazing what Master Majesky can do!

My son has loved being part of the Movement Family Martial Arts family for more than four years. As one of the few programs that accepts 3 year olds, my son has grown up learning respect, self control, confidence and self defense. He has learned so much these past few years, and has lots of fun doing it! Master Majesky instills the importance of working hard and accountability, but the kids have so much fun learning at the same time. I recommend this program to everyone.

My 7 year old has been a part of Movement for a year now and I have to say I have seen a marked difference in his patience, ability to take and wait his turn and learning to deal with his bigger emotions at home and in school. Taekwondo inherently teaches discipline, perseverance and constant improvement not just in the martial arts practice but in school, work, and life. It has been so great to see our son be so motivated and excited to advance his belt ranks. In addition, a few months ago my husband joined the adult classes and it has been so great to see them work and practice and learn together. Master Majesky and the other leaders and instructors have been inspiring, motivating and teach discipline for the students but still are so fun for everyone. It has been such a great experience so far and absolutely would recommend this for anyone interested in pursuing a martial arts practice.

My youngest son signed up for Taekwondo at MFMA last year, and just got his high green belt today. He absolutely loves the program, and the extra curricular activities, such as overnight camp, summer camp, and parent's night out. As the parent, I enjoyed watching my son grow with MFMA that I decided to join the adult program so that I could share the experiences with my son. I feel the exercise, leadership, and memorization of forms and knowledge to be beneficial in addition to spending time with my son. Thank you, sir!

As parents we are always wanting to help our children learn and grow, be in a safe environment and be challenged and prosper. Master Majesky has been an amazing guiding light for my son and I feel this has been one of the best decisions I have made as a parent and I'm thrilled my son is learning confidence, self control, self discipline and perseverance. If you are wondering about this gym, give Master Majesky a call, he's an incredibly humble instructor and can answer all of your questions.

I had seen this place pop up on a number of birthday party recommendations. I wanted something different since my kiddos usually choose a bounce house or laser tag. For $80/hr Master Matt plans the party, and also includes pizza and waters!! We did a 30 min taekwondo lesson, 30 min group games, and a 30min Nerf war!!! It left 30 min for pizza and cake. I've had so many compliments. Master Matt was engaging and kept it fun and really involved each kiddo. Definitely highly recommend!!

We absolutely love Movement Martial arts! We've had two birthday parties as well and they were absolutely perfect! The Nerf war was a HUGE hit with the kids and the space was also perfect for a first birthday party. My oldest son is learning self control, self defense and making great memories. I'm very happy with the entire program!
