Meadowmont is lit! Head Coach Sydney and her team make workouts personable and fun. Never the same class twice. Studio is clean … a little on the small side, but enough room to work hard. Even if you’ve never been to a gym in your life, they will make you feel at home. I came to OTF Meadowmont to train for backpacking, and power-walking inclines on the treadmill definitely helped eliminate knee pain and made uphills much easier.

I really like the structure of the workouts. Sidney, Tommy, Indi, Hunter, Sarah. do an amazing job guiding us and keeping us motivated throughout the classes. I have definitely seen improvement in my physical condition and how I feel in my day to day. Ohhh, love the music selection as well.

I’ve been going to OTF for a couple of months now and I’ve never been so happy with the community around me. I’ve moved away from home for the first time so finding community was hard for me at the start but I look forward to every single class I attend. Love OTF.... but current Meadowmont OTF studio customer service sucks. After 18 months loving my OT Beat Link (Apple Watch heart rate monitor), I recently lost it. It was a great option for me so I bought a replacement OT Beat Link ($140) on Monday at Meadowmont which is currently my home studio. I finally *found* my lost OT Beat Link on Tuesday night (of course ;-), and then proceeded to return the never-used-still-in-the-box-with-all-the-parts new OT Beat Link on Wednesday morning at Meadowmont. I was informed there is a strict no return policy for all heart rate monitors... doesn't matter if the device is still in the box and has never been used. I hate to give the Meadowmont OTF studio a negative review. I have been an OTF member based at Meadowmont studio for over 8 years, and overall OTF is awesome. I wish current Meadowmont OTF management had better customer service, IMO they used to do much better. Luckily there are several OTF studio options in the area and I would highly recommend trying those over Meadowmont.... I have found the MLK OTF studio in Durham to be a superior option and there are a couple other studios in the Chapel Hill/Durham area.

I joined Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) November 2019 and I love it! I feel healthier and stronger with each class. OTF is the first fitness studio/gym that I enjoy going to- the classes are tough and challenging, but they make you feel energized during and post workout! The studio at Meadowmont, my home studio, is fabulous! From the front area staff to the trainers, they are professional, knowledgeable, helpful and positive. I really appreciate that this studio has variety in the style of the trainers to fit your mood and needs for your individual motivation. (from silly and high energy trainers to ones that tell "punny" exercise jokes during cool down to more reserved coaches). The class attendees really encourage each other and create a team feel. and last but not least, they have contests, events and theme days to keep you motivated and push yourself to get better with each class.

Honest review:
The cons:
Quite expensive for a fitness membership however it became worth it for me in the first month. They follow a strict cancellation policy which carries over the next month.
(Top membership only) Late over 5 minutes or miss a class will charge you several dollars even if you already paid a membership, which is one of the memberships that makes no sense.
The pros:
Although the pricing and policies this fitness studio made me very comfortable midway in my first month to keep pushing myself and a very good reason to wake up early in the morning to start half my mornings.
First month I lost 11% of my weight and haven't felt better than before since my days in high school.
A big shout-out to Coach Jake for giving me a call to check-in on me near the end of my first month. I really appreciated him for that!

Orange Theory Fitness Meadowmont is great place to exercise and so much fun. The hour you spend there goes by so fast and you see gains every time you go there. The staff and coaches show they are excited to have you there and care about your fitness and well being. The coaches show you different versions of the same exercises for every fitness level. You never feel as though you don’t belong there. I lost over thirty pounds since joining and feel so much energy with less aches from age. I would recommend them to everyone who wants to get in better shape or lose some weight.

Cannot say enough good things about this studio. From the coaches to the studio manager and the SAs, everyone has made me feel so welcome and always brings great energy. Each coach at this studio is excellent and excited to help you reach your goals. The members and the staff have created an amazing place where you want to be. My workouts are my favorite part of my day now because of the motivational and positive environment the coaches, SAs and studio manager have created.

The coaching staff is phenomenal, and will help you achieve goals you may have only dreamed of. You get expert coaching, in a small group setting. The workouts are different every class, so the boredom factor is nonexistent. Additionally, there are now classes to focus on just lifting weights to help you build strength and muscle.
The front desk staff is warm and welcoming every time you walk through the front door. You are always greeted with big friendly smiles, and they are invested in their members, and their member's successes just as much as the coaches are.

Negative is the studio doesn’t follow corporate rules about time frame of working out. They let members in well after 5 minutes and will kick you off your station for there in home members even if they arrived at 7:36 or later and the app at 7:29 stated the class wasn’t full and they were late.
Update: I froze my account however, I did receive a computer generic “I don’t care response” response from the owner and manager over a week ago so I replied and told them the issue, it’s been a week and still nothing from them… they move on clearly are more concerned about there fake 4.9 rating then the clients… PS: notice all the positive comments last month in July… well we played bingo and that was a square notice nothing new in reviews since… so as I say it the now 4.8 is fake… anyway I will never be back to this studio, I don’t care and I know they don’t!

I adore OTF!! It totally changed my life and I love how the coaches can modify workouts if you have any limitations. It’s also based on your own capabilities, so you can increase your speed/incline on the treadmill, wattage on the row machine, or weights for strength training as you see fit (and it doesn’t feel like a competition with the person next to you). The staff here is also so incredibly friendly and they make you feel like family!

I absolutely love attending classes at Orangetheory Fitness Chapel Hill Meadowmont! The Sales Associates, Assistant Studio Manager, Studio Manager, and coaches are all friendly, helpful, and have taken the time to get to know me and help make my experience customized and fun. The hour I spend there each day is my favorite hour of the day, and I’ve made a lot of friends through our shared passion of attending this studio’s classes. The studio is also always impeccably clean which I appreciate. Tyler is also an amazing coach. He is extremely technical and always summarizes how each portion of the workout on each separate station works together to help us become better, faster, and stronger. Taking his classes has made me a faster runner, has helped me lift heavier on the weight floor, and has definitely helped improve my rowing form, as he has taken the time to educate me on proper rowing form. I would highly recommend this studio!

I joined OTF in December of 2018 and I love it! The workouts are great, challenging but doable with accommodations for those who need them. I love the supportive coaches and that I can schedule my workouts ahead of time. The precautions that the studio has taken throughout the COVID-19 pandemic were made clear to members and made me feel very safe while still being able to exercise.

I've been going to Orangetheory in Meadowmont since October 2019 & I love the workouts, the staff & the friends I've made.
After my first class I thought I was going to die, but I came back & kept coming back. I started at 2 days a week, but now I go 5-6 times a week. I'm not the fastest or the strongest, but I never feel judged & I have a good time.
All the coaches & staff are really knowledgeable & supportive. The workouts are super challenging & intense, but doable & we all have a good time, even at 5am.

I can't even begin to say how incredible this gym is. I started going to OTF in September after recovering from brain surgery. Each coach was so understanding and made a point of checking in on me throughout each class. In particular, Coach Dana is incredible, and I love the energy and excitement she brings to each class while still pushing all of us.

It is so great to be back at OTF since COVID. Chapel Hill-Meadowmont is not my original location but I feel quite at home here.
First, I love the staff. They are all kind, friendly and great at communicating. Secondly, the trainers are amazing. Each one has great playlists of music to keep you going. Each one keeps everyone pumped up and has a positive attitude during this crazy time and each one has been committed to safety and cleanliness.
This leads me to the third point. The studio is immaculate. During the class, the trainers ensure each member wears their mask between stations, moves to each station in an orderly fashion and hands out sufficient wipes to clean down the equipment. After each class, the studio is fully cleaned. The bathrooms are spotless too!
I couldn’t be any happier with how things are going and feel 100% safe about going to workout during this crazy time! Many thanks to all the trainers and staff who work so incredibly hard and make my day so much brighter and healthier!

OTF offers the best full body 60 minute workout in the area. The workouts are challenging, exciting, never boring, and the results are amazing! The staff is pleasant and professional. A lot of times I find it hard to motivate myself to workout and if I go to the gym by myself I don't know what to do when I get there. OrangeTheory has been INCREDIBLE for me! I love the group fitness aspect of it because it reminds me of my summer workouts and training for volleyball from high school way back in the day. The coaches always come with so much energy and push you to do your best. Even if you don't know anyone in the class it never feels weird or uncomfortable. I also find that if I don't workout in the morning then I'm probably not going to be working out that day. LOVE that they have 5 am classes so I can get a workout in before work with plenty of time to get ready and it also wakes me right up!

I normally don't write reviews but I really love Orangetheory here at Meadowmont. The female manager is very friendly and helps me whenever I have an issue with my heart monitor, booking sessions, or even general questions. I was very concerned about not being able to keep up with the classes but she assured me that I could workout at my own pace and made a note to ask the instructor to keep an eye out for me to ensure I was doing the correct forms.
I joined about 3 weeks ago and was very hesitant in the beginning but I really love the workouts and the staff here. They address any issues/feedbacks/recommendations to improvements right away which makes me feel as a true valued customer.

Everything! Been working out in Chapel Hill and Durham for 4 + years. Love the High Intensity Interval workout. Love "wrecking" my body 3 to 4 times per week. Love the staff and the coaches and the community. Cory Gibson is my all time favorite and first coach ever but really enjoy all the coaches. Shout out to Ron in Durham. He's awesome too. Glenn is the most motivating trainer. Even on mornings after I haven't slept well, I'm so excited to work out with him. One of the most difficult reasons to move away from Chapel Hill is that I won't be at this studio anymore.

The OTF workouts are always different so I've never felt like I was in a work out "rut". The work is challenging, the coaches are motivating, the music is always fun and upbeat, and the community at OTF makes me push harder and look forward to my workout. I'm especially grateful that the coaches are always available to help with exercise modifications, when needed, to make sure we're maintaining proper form or able to work around an injury.

Orangetheory classes are the highlight of my day. I can focus entirely on the workout and not my to-do list. I love seeing the progress I have made and feeling how strong my body is, even if I am not the most fit person in the studio. I love the coaches, the playlists, and the staff that make me feel welcome and motivated even on early mornings when the last thing I want to do when my alarm clock goes off is get up and exercise!

I have now been a member of OTF for nearly 2.5 years. They deliver a great workout and their trainers are excellent but there are two major downsides that get more frustrating over time: it is expensive and inflexible. One of my biggest frustrations is with their late cancel policy. You have to schedule your classes ahead of time, and cancellations must occur at least 12 hours ahead of the class. I pay $160 a month for a membership, more than I have ever paid for a gym and much more than a membership at a typical full service gym. Occasionally, I have to late cancel a class, but this happens rarely (once every few months). Despite doing this rarely, EVERY SINGLE TIME I get charged a late cancellation fee of $10. This seems ridiculous to me, and I think given the cost and the inflexibility of scheduling, that as a courtesy to members who pay for the unlimited membership, they should allow 3-4 late cancels a year.

The constant variety in workouts keeps it really exciting and so enjoyable! It feels like the 60 minutes just flies by, and I don't even realize how hard i'm pushing myself. Honestly the experience at Orange Theory was mixed. Some trainers were good - others we only interested if you are a young woman, also the equipment does not seem to be very well maintained.
The biggest problem comes when you try to cancel, in a day and age where you can make an instant payment from your phone and the people at Orange Theory can take your money quick enough why do i have to pay for 58 days of gym membership after i have canceled. Paying for the month I have no problem with but paying for that month and the next is a joke.
While i would like to recommend i really can't, customer service, antiquated systems and mediocre trainers do not justify the cost of orange theory.

I really love the workout and instructors, but unfortunately I won't be reinstating my membership after I finished school as planned or recommending anyone to this studio anymore due to my customer service experience. I've had several issues with cancelling my membership, still getting charged, and not getting refunded for months. This issue was finally and miraculously resolved after I asked for the owners contact information. I also had an issue with a gift card that was really poorly communicated by staff. They were professional and kind when I talked to them about all of these issues, but instead of choosing to help resolve the issues that were exacerbated by staff they basically said there was nothing they can do and that it was my issue. I hope the staff can resolve these communication issues in the future because the classes and instructors are great.
