Workers are very kind. This review is for planet fitness as a whole. A couple of months ago I requested to end my membership due to a relocation. Instead of ending the membership, the person froze my membership. They insured me that I would no longer be charged and that my membership was canceled. I downloaded an app that showed me my memberships and planet fitness came up. They have been charging me $25 a month for five months. I am a patient person, but I don’t believe the average person can afford to lose $25 a month out the window when they were told their membership was canceled.
I would, however, like to say that the workers are very nice, this is just a planet fitness issue.

Pros.
Very clean, corporate gym. Good selection of dumbells and machines.
It's well lit, and it has nice, clean bathroom facilities. Tons of cardio machines of all types. Great pricing on basic memberships.

Areas they could improve.
I wish they had a freestanding bench/squat bay, but I get it that it's a safety concern.

They would also benefit from adding another hamstring machine and swapping out the lock mechanism on the one in the front room. And they would do well to have staff&trainers citculate more often.

I see all kinds of bad/dangerous form when cruising through, and people using machines set at incorrect heights, depths and inappropriate weights. Some guests are really rough on the gear which over time degrades the equipment faster than it should.

Final notes. Please post signs in the cable machines to encourage members to use the end spots for unilateral deltoid work, lats, triceps, and biceps... And leave the central stations open for those who want to do bilateral pec/delt work.

I attend this gym irregularly. There is a bazillion machines and cardio options. Very rarely do you need to wait to use anything. The app is very helpful and will even tell you how much traffic there is at the time you want to go. It’s definitely worth getting the black card, as the Southern Points location has a red light machine and several massage areas. Downside is it’s very loud and there are giant televisions EVERYWHERE!! EVERY SINGLE DIRECTION you look in has a giant television. It would be great if there were a few hours a day that the tv’s were off and the music was just under deafening.
Other than that, the staff is great and it’s always very clean.

Planet Fitness in Aberdeen rocks! The best part of being a member there is the fitness classes with James. I've noticed a major change in my physique since I started training with him. He customized my workout to work within my limitations. James always ensures that my technique is always correct to avoid any injuries. He is very patient and encouraging and he makes us laugh while we are working out. Each session I have learned new exercises that I use when I don’t have a class with him. I am consistent, dedicated & motivated thanks to James. I feel much stronger, more confident, and James went above the call of duty to helped me create a sustainable and healthy eating plan that fits my lifestyle. I love that PF is a no nonsense gym who welcomes anyone from all sorts of backgrounds. The perks are awesome, equipment is nice & self explanatory. It's very clean & well lit. Also, I love that we can use the showers & such. I highly suggest PF to anyone at any age, starting anywhere in their fitness journey. Now the only thing I would change is if there's a black card member who has a guest, that guest should be able to visit the gym with or with out the member. I say this cause not everyone has the same schedule so I think as long as the guest has a members pass then I shouldn't be an issue. Once they can change the member guest policy then I'll rate 5 stars.

The people of Planet Fitness must be out of their minds. I started my membership December 2023 when they ran the $1 down $25/month. The whole year of 2024 I paid my monthly membership fee and NEVER stepped foot into a Planet Fitness. I figured rather that continue to throw money away, I would cancel my membership so that is what I did today and to my surprise, I was told it would cost me $58 to cancel my membership after GIVING them over $300 last year. That did not set well with me especially when nothing was said at the time I signed up about a cancelation fee and I specifically asked if there were any additional fees other than the $25 monthly fee at any time and the response was no which was a LIE in 2 ways, the cancelation fee of $58 and the $49 fee charged yearly plus the $25. These people are crooks and I would advise staying away.

It’s a great place to workout but could use some extra equipment such as more plates, at times you are waiting around for people to finish with them. More and higher weighted curl bars one set up to 60 doesn’t do much with some people can curl a bit higher weight. Also could use a hex squat or a squat rack.

Enjoy coming here, it would really be nice to see some space come available for doing floor mat exercises rather than finding space in between machines. There’s absolutely no reason this or any business needs access to my checking account and it’s unbelievable that you can’t join this gym without giving them access to your checking and routing number. I have been victim of stolen account information and while you have the means to combat this via credit card, there’s nothing you can do when someone steals your checking account information.

Massive gym with endless rows of cardio equipment, tons of machines, free weights, Smith machines, etc. The atmosphere was not intimidating whatsoever, staff was extremely helpful and friendly, unlike the last gym I trained at :( There are stations with disinfectant spray and wipes for gym users to clean behind themselves but staff is constantly walking around cleaning as well. Can't wait to use all the other amenities like tanning beds, massage chairs and hydro massage beds!

Awful customer experience. Was sold a membership, I specifically asked if my 10 year old could wait in the waiting area and do homework while I worked out - the associate said yes, no problem - just have to be 13 or above in the workout area. The first day I came in with my 10 year old son to have him sit in the waiting area (not work out area), I was told he could not be in the building at all. Marcus, the manager on duty, made it very difficult to get a refund, not customer oriented. Said I would have to pay for a month of membership even though I cancelled the membership the day I signed up for it online. Go elsewhere.

After visiting all of the other gyms in town, I joined Planet Fitness because it’s brand new and they have the best equipment, the gym is huge and has many options for working out.
