Go as my husband's guest - entire facility is always clean, staff is friendly, polite, helpful and very approachable. I enjoy the 30 minute workout area. As of January I can no longer partake in his BLACK CARD benefits though. Bummed about that! Still love the variety and cleanliness.
6/2024 Now we enjoy free membership as 65yr old patrons. They changed the 30 min workout room into something random. I'm not thrilled about that. They removed about ½ of the machines and all of the stretch steps. It's OK, but now I don't get my full body workout without having to search the gym for machines.
11/2025 Back to the gym. It's still the same clean facility with MOST of the patrons wiping down the machines when they're done. I'm on a mission and the various machines are very helpful.

I have been a loyal Planet Fitness member for over 10 years, frequently visiting various locations across the country. Unfortunately, my experience at the Belmont, NC location has been one of the most disappointing in my fitness journey, primarily due to the management and staff behavior.

**Management Issues:**
Janine, the store manager, exemplifies unprofessionalism in her role. My interactions with her have revealed a lack of understanding regarding company policies, prompting me to reference the official guidelines several times to clarify basic issues. Instead of acknowledging the established rules, she often attempts to impose her own interpretations, which is not only frustrating but also undermines the integrity of the franchise.

**Staff Dynamics:**
It's disheartening to see the turnover among staff of color, many of whom have confided in me about experiencing discrimination and unfair treatment under Janine's management. This pattern of behavior creates a toxic environment that affects both employees and members alike.

A specific incident involving another staff member, Lexi, highlighted the problematic culture fostered by Janine. When Lexi questioned the size of my gym bag—despite it being compliant with policy—she refused to let me continue my workout. After I calmly explained the situation and decided to transfer my membership, Janine intervened. Lexi subsequently reacted by claiming victimhood and falsely asserting that I was a threat, which culminated in her attempting to block my membership across all Planet Fitness locations. This was not only unprofessional but indicative of a deeper issue within the management team.

**Conclusion:**
Given the unprofessional conduct exhibited by Janine and the resulting negative impact on staff and members, I cannot recommend this location. I urge potential members to exercise caution when considering joining this gym. My journey with Planet Fitness has been mostly positive in other locations, but this specific franchise needs significant improvements in management and staff training to create a welcoming and respectful environment for all.

The Belmont, NC PF on Park is doing a GREAT job.
When I first walked-in the two people at the desk greeted me with a pleasant few and natural words. Neither dove to the scanner to push the green button (creepy mechanical unwelcoming practice of some locations), trusting the beep they heard when you scanned-in.
The temperature and music volume were comfortable. No one was yelling to the person next to them.

The one aspect that was far and away the BEST of any PF in the Charlotte, NC Metro area was the cleanliness and true sanitation of the locker room, showers, and changing area. There were no hair balls, uses bandages, soap scum and other bio build-up in the showers. There were chairs and hooks in the changing rooms. The toilettes didn’t have the previous people’s remains spattered in them. The sinks were sparkling clean and the counter tops were as clean and dry as in your own home. The place looked and felt clean. This is the Achilles heal of Freedom, University, and Matthews. It’s always frightening to imagine your bare skin touching any surface in the showers or changing areas in any of those three worst of the worst for PFs for sanitation.

The only thing the young person cleaning the locker room in Belmont went short on was making one quick path “so I can tell my boss I did it” (his words verbatim to a young member while I was changing) of the floor cleaning machine. It seemed a shame that all the good work he did was diminished by making one path in the middle of the room and not going over the entire floor. What a shame to take a hit on flawless sanitation with this one careless act.

Kudos to Belmont PF for really being the best I have witnessed in Charlotte in the past 4 months.

My first experience at the Belmont location was not a positive experience. The employees were rude and not very helpful. I got very little assistance when trying to sign up despite there being three people in the front. Definitely not my vibe at the Belmont location. Gastonia is a better location because I had an employee actually sit with me and showed me how to sign up for membership on my phone at the Gastonia location.

I went in to tan in room 1. Mind you I tan naked and the numbers are on the room. When I tan I always put a chair in front of the door. Someone comes into the room and I jump up then he closes the door quickly. Yes He. Once I get dressed and go to the front desk to complain, the manager Janette says, “well you didn’t have your door locked, plus he was looking for room 6.” No sympathy. I’ve been a member at this gym for a short period and have generally had positive experiences, but my recent visit left me disappointed and frustrated.

When I arrived, neither Amanda nor Lexi greeted me at check-in, something that usually helps create a welcoming atmosphere. Midway through my workout, I was told I couldn’t wear Crocs, even while not using equipment. I asked politely if I could finish my workout before changing shoes but was told no. I left to get sneakers and returned to finish my session.

Afterward, I went to use the HydroMassage machine number 2 due to machine number 1 was already occupied. Amanda told me I had to check in again before using it. I sat on machine number 2 for about five minutes, but it wasn’t activated for me. When I went back to the desk to ask for help, Lexi’s response was simply, “What?” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. She then told me I had to press the blue button, something that hadn’t been explained before.

Overall, the service from Amanda and Lexi felt unwelcoming and unnecessarily rigid, which is not what I’ve come to expect from this gym. The tone and attitude from both were unpleasant and made the experience feel more like an inconvenience than a place to focus on health and fitness.

I hope the management addresses this, as customer service is a big part of why many of us choose to stay members.

I have been a PF Black Card holder for over 15 years. I adore the 30 Circuit and it's my go to for fitness. I am an idiot at the gym and the 30 circuit is accessible, easy, fun and I don't feel stupid doing it. This location has removed it! It's just gone! I hadn't used this location for a while but I was in the area yesterday and found time for my 30. I went in and changed, went to the circuit area and it's just GONE!!!! I didn't know what to do.. I asked at the desk and they told me that they took it out but I could used the plates instead. I don't know how to use the plates and there were a lot of guys in there clustered around them. I felt so out of place, stupid and frankly unwelcome. Like this gym only wants the people who know what they are doing there. I won't be using this location again and I suggest that unless you know what you are doing in a gym that you don't either. They took out the ONE thing that made the gym feel accessible and friendly. RIP 30 Circuit!

Clean, well maintained equipment. Personable, friendly staff. In other words, the difficult tasks, they get right. But.....

Loud, MTV type music for a younger crowd that normally isn't found there. 25 decibel noise canceling headsets are inadequate to properly block. To their Credit, volume has come down these past couple of visits.

No rules seem to be applied where members rest on equipment and force others to wait. Many also commandeer free weights And refuse to cede them to other guests. Both violate Club policy And put
Members in conflict with one another. Even so, The club will not enforce These rules.

I’ve been a Planet Fitness member since the early days, back when the concept was still new and I truly enjoyed it. One of the things that stood out to me then was the ability to meet with a PF-provided trainer who took the time to show you how to properly use the equipment. There was also a class schedule that made it easy to stay motivated and mix up workouts. I really hate that those features went away.

Another thing I miss is the 30-minute circuit section, especially the step platforms it was such a solid, efficient workout option. Unfortunately, that’s also been removed from my home gym location.

Because this gym is so close to home, it’s always been my go-to. But it’s frustrating now feeling like I have to travel to another location just to get the features I once had here. Will these changes be revisited anytime soon?

My minor age son cancelled his membership at the Belmont, NC store at my request, due to not using it, however the staff "froze" it instead of cancelling it. Now they have stolen $49 directly from my bank account for no goods or services rendered and refuse to refund the stolen money because they state that the account was frozen instead of cancelled, which they did in error (or perhaps not) in the first place. Then when I called, the General Manager told me to read the contract and hung up on me. Be very wary of these shady characters. If you choose to engage here, expect to be in the same position one day.

I choose this gym because it’s closer to my home and it had a lot more to offer rather than my old gym. I made the best decision. The supervisor checked my significant other and I in for our daily workout. I had signed up for the black card membership which meant I could also tan. The checking in process for tanning couldn’t have been more easier. From making sure I had good eyewear to a perfect tanning lotion. I truly appreciate the kindness and how welcoming this gym is. I’m glad I made the switch honestly. I went @3pm on a Wednesday it wasn’t busy at all switch is perfect. They also have stair masters and from my hearing hope to get more !!! I’m excited to call this my gym. Highly Recommend

I love this gym. The employees are nice & professional. I love the massage beds and the equipment. There’s two reason I’m not giving them 5 stars. One is because I wish the equipment would be easier to use, I’m short and limited on weight machines that I can use here. And it’s always absolutely freezing in the gym! It feels like it’s 50 degrees inside. It’s hard to get started and break a sweat, because it’s so cold. I’m sure many don’t feel the same as I do, but I wish half of the gym was much warmer. That’s really the only thing that keeps me from going to the gym more.

Only downside to this facility is the excessive use of cell phones. People are constantly holding up machines while texting. Between the terrible customer service and the theft, I'd leave O stars if I could. They've been charging me when I went to rejoin last year and the manager informed me they did not have a trainer hired at that location but "they were hoping they would in a few weeks." I told her, no thank you, just cancel the membership, she said "okay," I left, never went back, and over a year later they're trying to bill me for services they offered and charged me for but could not provide when I needed them (and I would put money that they were illegally understaffed (at least at that point in time - I haven't BEEN there in over a year because I told the manager I was cancelling due to their lack of necessary staffing, but I don't know how they're doing in that regard now). Both their parent company representatives (ABC Fitness Solutions) and the person running the local Planet Fitness franchise were incredibly rude and offered no solution other than to stop stealing from me.

Before today, I would have highly recommended Planet Fitness when people ask me where I work out. Today, I'd tell them there are a ton of places to work out locally, but whatever you do, DON'T go to the Planet Fitness in Belmont. During my most recent experiences with them, they were understaffed, what floor staff they had didn't know how any of the equipment worked, the manager just told me "okay" when I told her I was cancelling instead of giving me the appropriate paperwork. I would NEVER feel comfortable working out at a company showing such disregard for client safety.

This has been my home club since 2018. The staff is always friendly and they keep it clean. They have upgraded equipment since I have been going and just added a few more plate-loaded machines. It is hard to get a Smith machine unless you get there very early in the morning. They could use a couple more of those and a cpuple of hip thrust machine (which would cut down on a lot of the Smith usage).
PF gets a bad rep from bodybuilders, but I have competed in three shows using only this gym. It wouldn't be a good fit for powerlifters or most competing in Men's Bodybuilding or maybe even Classic Physique categories, but it is enough for Men's Physique. Overall, good gym and atmosphere.

Can’t stick to their part of their contract of being open 24/7… went to 24/5… now they’re not even open all night due to staffing. When I asked for a refund they refused to, a member who attends the gym from 2am-3am. They told me to go to the gym in Gastonia when this is my home gym and walking distance from my apartment. They false adverse so much it’s probably illegal. So highly disappointed in this establishment and hope something gets fixed asap or I’m going to Ultimate Fitness since they want me to drive 10 miles to Gastonia.

I’ve been a member at Planet Fitness for a while now, and what keeps me coming back isn’t just the gym itself, but the amazing staff who make every visit special. Three people, in particular, deserve a shoutout: Sarah, Miguel, and Kaiya.

Sarah is simply one of the kindest people I’ve met. Every time I walk in, she greets me with warmth and makes me feel welcomed. Been going to this location for a little over 2 years now. It's not a bad location and most of the staff is nice. I've seen a few of the girls that work there power tripping and harassing gym guests for the most trivial matters. One guy momentarily lifted his shirt up a few inches in the mirror to look at his ab progress and a staff member came up and told him he was making everyone uncomfortable... which was not true. For a while, they also got pretty liberal with the lunk alarm. There are some exercises that are almost impossible to do or end quietly. I understand the "gym-timidation" thing but there is a huge difference between getting gassed out and a deadlift set falling a little heavy vs someone screaming after a PR. #knowthedifference.

Beyond that, their main issues are a general planet fitness issue and not location specific....why do you have an insane amount of cardio equip that on the busiest day is 60% occupied at most but yet there is a waiting line for squat racks... every single night? Why do you not have bench presses? Why is one of the massage chairs always semi broken? Why are half the paper towel holders always empty?

I love this gym so much, several of the employees are so kind and caring and make the experience even better; this being said Sarah at the front desk was extremely rude. I had an issue with checking in a guest, she explained to me that my guest is not of age; this is fine and I completely understand this policy and understand the need to follow it. The issue was Sarah’s lack of compassion and her rude mentality; she was extremely unhelpful, disrespectful not only to me but my guest and could not even look me in the eyes while talking. As I mentioned my guest was too young to accompany me (which I understand) however Sarah spoke to my young guest with such a bitter and arrogant tone. She practically refused to talk to me and made my “young” guest extremely uncomfortable. As a customer service worker myself the rudeness Sarah displayed is unacceptable.

Been a membership there for over five years got treated horribly by the manager for pointing out that the floor is missing subfloor by the back wall right next to the mirror and then she came up and to me while I was working out and said if you hate Planet Fitness, why are you here and was very rude and I asked her for her superior‘s phone number and she got router and told me my membership is Canceled and get out. I really need to hear from the owner. I asked for someone’s phone number and she refused.

A month ago I asked them to put in a work order about a spot on the floor by the back wall mirror that the subfloor is missing underneath the padding and I rolled my ankle and I asked the lady to put in a work order and then a week went by and asked the gentleman that was at the front desk About it and he said he would relay it to the managers so today when I went to the gym I walked in and I seen any person I haven’t seen before I said ma’am are you the man said yes I was like Do you know when they’re gonna fix the floor back there before someone gets hurt she goes I don’t know what you’re talking about so I walk back there with her pointed it out And said I would like to see that fixed and I’ve complained about it and it’s a hazard and she said very smart. Everything is up to code here and I said it’s not then, so I went to lips cool and started working out and she had the nerve to come stand in front of me and go if you hate Planet Fitness so much why are you coming here and I told her I don’t hate Planet Fitness I like Planet Fitness the reason why I brought it to her attention is because I want things to be right And so she left in front of me and went back to the counter and I was thinking how dare her think that she can just come up and act like that to me as I’m a paying customer so I walked over to her and asked for her superior phone number, and she said I’m not gonna give you their phone number and I said ma’am I would like to talk to them because I don’t like the way that you spoke to me and she goes your membership is canceled. You need to leave leave now.

Not enough staff at front reception area:(
Trouble checking in due to PF internet issues. I have limited time—the machines are great when I can access the ones needed to help my Sciatica:) Sadly, there appears to be a staff turnover recently that does not monitor and assist the patrons that need help getting the people to adhere to rules about ‘not just sitting on the machines talking/texting.’ I’m not used to this behavior from staff or other patrons. I hope Jimmy is still at this location—He made sure every patron was treated with respect and fairness—awesome young man:) Oh well, I’m just getting back in the groove after major surgery—I can only hope to see more staff interaction and monitoring on the floor:)

Clean with Friendly, helpful employees, especially Tommy. I like almost everything about this PF, except for the fact that they are NOT open 24 hours on the weekends. This is very inconvenient for me. And I'm sure a bunch of other people who work 9-5 during the week.

By design complicated to cancel a membership. When I asked why I needed to be in person it was for a signature, which I can do online and likely did at purchase - online. Stop gauging customers - we are over it. How did PF skate by the FTC simple cancel rule?? Also, did not even check my ID at cancelation which shows how unnecessary it is to require someone to be on site. Don’t subject your employees to customers who understand this or at least pay them to lie better with all the additional fees you collect monthly.

With the current t growth in my area of Belmont, it's too crowded when I go.. some of the people hold up the machines or equipment doing unique workouts that I've never seen before!!
It's almost not big enough for the area..

I love going when I'm able to but right now I'm going through financial issues and lost my job. Make it easier to cancel the membership. We shouldn't have to go into the building and cancel. I don't even have a car to get there now yet yall keep trying to take my nonexistent money. Glad there's no overdraft fee from wisely.

My wife and I love this gym. Always clean

😍😍 Here on vacation and loved it. The staff is very kind and pleasant! The gym is very clean, it has a decent amount of machines but it needs more options for legs. My overall experience was great. I think I’m going to keep the membership and alternate between my gym back home and a planet fitness nearby. Thank you.
